O... Oh no

The CyNick 10-31-2016 04:48 PM

I love how people buy into the narrative that the match order changed so many times. It's amazing how many times you people get sucked into the same con.

Week 1: "WWE going to put girls on last", read more in this week's issue

Week 2: "Foley let the cat out of the bag, WWE changing plans as result", read more in this week's issue

Week 3: "WWE changes plan, Universal Title match likely to go on last", read more in this week's issue.

Week 4: "WWE changed plans at THE LAST MINUTE, and put the girls on last", read more in this issue.

Funny how it all ends up back where we started which was the girls were always going on last. If you read my post on here, I talked about how it was planned to tie into breast cancer month, and they want to put the girls on equal footing to the men for a variety of reasons, including drawing in a larger female fanbase based on the success of Ronda in UFC and general push to equality for women in sports.

But leave that logic to the side, and go with the fake reporters who claim to have inside sources but yet NEVER have a quote from an actual named employee that would be privy to the information they are spewing garbage about.

It's amazing how easily ya'll are manipulated.

Innovator 10-31-2016 04:51 PM

I think they could have gotten more mileage out of it if they promoted it as the main event, give it 2-3 weeks build, SportsCenter/Today Show/etc.

#1-norm-fan 10-31-2016 05:40 PM

Guys... Don't fall into the trap.

I know it's tempting...

Just don't.

Mr. Nerfect 10-31-2016 07:40 PM

What trap? Is someone talking?

Its possible. And I mean who knows what's going on behind the scenes. Sasha is not really cut out to be a long term main eventer from a durability standpoint. So who knows if she was dealing with something going in and they didn't want to do major promotion only to not deliver.

But yeah with the tie in with Sportscenter, they could have tried some additional cross promotion.

I still think it accomplished what they wanted. They made history and the girl with the brighter long term future went over. So when you look back at that match in 20 years it will be like if you had the choice between Cena going over a historical match or Daniel Bryan. Both great competitors, both over like rover, but one guy was a flash in the pan.

According to PWI, Austin Aries could be out till March 2017 due to his recent eye injury.

Quote:

PWInsider.com has confirmed that WWE NXT star Austin Aries has suffered a large orbital fracture from the evil looking kick he received from Shinsuke Nakamura at the NXT house show last week in California.

Aries is slated to undergo surgery later this week in Birmingham, Alabama and will be out of action at least until first quarter of 2017.

Volare 11-01-2016 12:58 AM

Fuuuuuck.

Mr. Nerfect 11-01-2016 01:02 AM

That's a shame for Aries, but I couldn't see him doing much anyway. I hope the time away allows him to return to the scene in a bigger way for himself.

Mr. Nerfect 11-01-2016 01:08 AM

I'm about to listen to Lance Storm's new podcast. I'm intrigued to hear how it will go.

Mr. Nerfect 11-01-2016 01:32 AM

Hmm, already very interesting. Storm talks about his time in the WWE, and how that when he arrived he was actually asked to tone down his promos, because one of the writers got it into his head that Lance Storm should be a Sam the Eagle type character from The Muppets. Storm -- who considers himself to be a straight-laced but more effective promo than a lot of people here would give him credit for -- kept trying to add more to them, but they would tell him to dial it down, then he'd get buried at production meetings.

It makes you wonder, but if Lance Storm could talk better than he was allegedly allowed to, it makes me wonder if the ceiling could have been slightly higher on him. Maybe not as a full-time main event guy, but as an opponent in certain regions or someone who could have laid the foundations to be in that same sort of conversation with Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho as guys who should have been elevated at certain times.

 It's so much fun though, until it's not.

Mr. Nerfect 11-01-2016 01:49 AM

It's fun thinking about wrestling, but then it grows really tedious trying to use logic and reason with a brick wall.

Mr. Nerfect 11-01-2016 01:49 AM

While he is out recovering with his eye injury, Aries should become a heel manager trying to lead guys against Nakamura. Strong taking up for his fallen comrade could be fun.

Mr. Nerfect 11-01-2016 02:15 AM

If James Ellsworth is going to be in the WWE, I want him to join The Wyatt Family. Why do all Bray's men need to be big guys? Ellsworth can be Bray's sponge for punishment.

Mr. Nerfect 11-01-2016 02:21 AM

I think this would be a better Survivor Series card than the one we will be getting:

* Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg

* AJ Styles (c) vs. Dean Ambrose for the WWE World Championship

* Kevin Owens (c) vs. Seth Rollins vs. Chris Jericho in a Triple Threat for the Universal Championship

* Becky Lynch (c) vs. Natalya with Bret Hart as Special Guest Referee for the Women's Championship

* Jack Swagger gives an "American Open Challenge" (answered by Cesaro)

* Braun Strowman vs. Sami Zayn

* Brian Kendrick (c) vs. TJ Perkins for the Cruiserweight Championship

* Dolph Ziggler, Heath Slater, Rhyno & The Hype Bros vs. The Miz, The Usos, Kenny & Mikey in an Elimination Match

* The New Day, Enzo & Cass vs. Sheamus, Gallows, Anderson & The Shining Stars in an Elimination Match (Cesaro is forced to sit out by the heels who are one man over)

Has to grow a beard first.

Mr. Nerfect 11-01-2016 09:31 AM

Lance Storm and Cyrus' podcast was pretty good. They told some interesting stories about their time working the independents and ECW in the past. Hearing Lance Storm talk about booking is always refreshing, because he often backs up my views. Cyrus said what I feel about the women lately. Lance Storm admitted he has a bias since he knows the girls quite close personally, but tried to deflect a lot of the blame of the disappointment around their Cell match onto the booking, but didn't really protest when Cyrus pointed out they weren't good enough to work around the bad booking.

Cyrus likes the Hardy stuff though, so I don't know if that makes his opinion irrelevant to me.

Nah, beards aren't necessary, as long as you don't shave and feed the Mach corporation.

Ol Dirty Dastard 11-01-2016 12:42 PM

Austin said he was a big fan of the cell match. Lots of conflicting reports. I didn't see it probably won't watch it.

Charlotte and Sascha are hit and miss. I think if they stay within themselves and keep it simple they can have legit 4 star matches if not better, but they try to do too much in the name of building women's wrestling (which I totally get) and they tend to slip on lots of banana peels along the way.

You could argue Storm was better in the ring than both, and I've thought for years there was no reason why he couldn't have been seen on the same level as those two....
