I've been using my holiday period to finish reading the old Swamp Thing. Finished up vol 2 and vol 3. Currently starting vol 4, which is the last stuff until the current series.

Seriously. I don't get how you can have an A-lister like Grant Morrison, somebody who knows how to write a genuinely excellent Superman story, on the secondary title, while the main Superman comic is being handled by the same guy who turned Starfire into a blow-up doll.

Lois Lane, entertainment reporter, apparently.

This is the woman who used to be able to bring down anybody with one article, who never gave up on chasing a story regardless of the personal danger it put her in, who believes in the power of the media to have a lasting and wide-reaching impact. I know Lois Lane, and this is not her.

Kalyx triaD 01-01-2013 09:56 PM

Let it go.

mitchables 01-02-2013 12:58 AM

I don't tell you what to get excitable about, Kalyx. Let me be. I mentioned it in one post, then made a second post elaborating. I'm not exactly harping on it.

Kalyx triaD 01-02-2013 02:09 AM

I wouldn't mind if you told me. Sometimes I need to be reigned in.

Sorry, I had catching up to do.

Also, Lawerence Welk under Snuggies... doesn't get anymore whitebread than that.

Lock Jaw 01-05-2013 02:51 PM

Somehow I think I have seen this one already.

EDIT- Damn. This episode was available on iTunes back in October, but only aired on the Cartoon Network today. So their first new episode back is one I already seen. Will watch it anyways, I guess.

Krimzon7 01-05-2013 04:21 PM

Kalyx triaD 01-05-2013 04:34 PM

That's a cool. Kinda catches the wonder of childhood imagination.

Krimzon7 01-05-2013 04:43 PM

I think that's what I love so much about Yale's approach. He finds a way to capture the innocence of Childhood in these renderings. It's no easy feat and his talent is defintely worthy of admiration

Tom Guycott 01-06-2013 12:37 AM

Totally started humming "The Moon" from the NES Ducktales looking at that pic, and remembering that I used to stare up like that at night when I was young enough not to need glasses. Space was so limitless, and there could be ANYTHING up there happening RIGHT NOW!!! ^_^

Lock Jaw 01-06-2013 12:54 AM

Having glasses does not prevent you from staring up at the night sky. I do it all the time.

Tom Guycott 01-06-2013 06:07 AM

No, it doesn't. However, that childlike wonder was a lot higher when I could see the face on the moon without the aid of eyewear. Also, I was like 5. 5 is synonymous with "childlike wonder".

More about passage of time and metaphors and less about actual ability.

Kalyx triaD 01-06-2013 07:28 AM

I happen to still have 'childlike wonder', cynical as I am.

I can still appreciate a full moon, mountain range, waterfall, boobs.

Tom Guycott 01-07-2013 01:02 AM

Boobs should not be included there. You can be about as disgruntled at the world as Stinkmeaner, and still enjoy titties in your face. Also, counter-intuitive to the whole "childlike wonder" aspect, unless you're looking at boobs as a source of nutrition instead of fun.

I doubt little Hal is thinking of chesticles there.

Shot From Upcoming DC Animated Feature; "Superman Unbound":

http://static.tvguide.com/Includes/n...irl-embed1.jpg

The movie is based on the Brainiac storyline from a few years ago. Enjoy this, because after this the animated movies may take design cues from DCnU with the old universe killing Flashpoint event becoming an animated movie.

Lock Jaw 01-07-2013 04:49 PM

Cool. Didn't even know they were making this Superman Unbound movie.

Lock Jaw 01-07-2013 04:52 PM

Would be "cool" if they did a "New Krypton" movie afterwards. Story would obviously need to be much abbreviated, but that could be a good thing.

Kalyx triaD 01-07-2013 04:53 PM

Yeah, that was an interesting concept.

McLegend 01-07-2013 05:29 PM

Why can't they do old DC universe movies and new DC universe animated movies?

Would anyone have a problem with that?

Kalyx triaD 01-07-2013 05:31 PM

DC.

McLegend 01-07-2013 05:33 PM

Damn them

Lock Jaw 01-07-2013 05:53 PM

Kalyx is just talking out his ass again. Nothing to support his claim that they will not be making old DC Universe movies.

Kalyx triaD 01-07-2013 05:56 PM

Okay.

Lock Jaw 01-07-2013 06:03 PM

Yup.

Finished this up. Have now read every Swamp Thing thing in existence.

MOTHER OF GOD:

Quote:

First rumored by Latino Review last fall, IGN has now confirmed with Guillermo del Toro that plans are underway for a DC Comics ensemble film that will star quite a few of the company's supernatural characters. Similar in lineup to the current "Justice League Dark" series, the film version is being developed with the title Dark Universe and has just hired a mystery writer.

"I'm working on it," del Toro says. "I'm writing the outline and we're already in talks with a writer. A very, very good writer. People are probably going to be happy with who we have chosen. He accepted. I've been courting this writer, who I think is the perfect guy for this job. We're doing it. Hopefully it will happen."

The Pacific Rim director goes on to hint that the lineup for the project includes Swamp Thing, The Demon, John Constantine, Deadman, The Spectre and the father/daughter pair of Zatara and Zatanna.

"The movement for this happened before [The Avengers]," del Toro adds about DC building its own cinematic universe. "They were already galvanized to launch 'Justice League' and they were galvanized to make their universe cohesive... They are really, really, with 'Superman', very, very confident with what they have. They are now feeling they have two pillars. Batman and Superman... There's a foundation that now they can build on."
I couldn't even report this right I just copy-pasta'd the whole thing. Holy shit.

Krimzon7 01-07-2013 10:40 PM

OMG!!! I just pray that he isn't talking about hiring M Knight Shamalyn

KIRA 01-07-2013 10:44 PM

BATMAN TAS:Babydoll because the end is WRENCHING and while Batman has shown compassion in the show many times here he just allows him self to be hugged and puts a hand on her head.

Green Lantern is the new Batman! Wonder Woman is a man! The villain can be defeated with wood and is allergic to water! What a twist!

Lock Jaw 01-08-2013 12:07 AM

I seriously think Swamp Thing (with John Constantine in his supporting cast) and The Spectre could support solo movies.

In the case of Swamp Thing, a reboot. Since he already had one or two movies.

Don't know how it will go introducing that many obscure characters in one film.

Lock Jaw 01-08-2013 12:07 AM

Nevertheless, I hope it is true.
