Since there's two versions of Sting that's going to be in WWE 2k15, is it wrong to hope that one of them is Real Estate Steve? :shifty:

In order for WWE to make it back to previous levels of financial success, they need closer to 1.9 million monthly subscribers. Once WWE tops 2 million subscribers, unless they face major unexpected costs, the company will be in the best financial position they have ever been in.

A great number for WWE's next subscriber announcement at the end of this month would be 850,000. Given how hard the Network has been pushed, the loaded pay-per-view events and a number of specials on the Network, anything less than 850,000 total subscribers wouldn't be that good. WWE announced back in early April that the Network had 667,287 subscribers and they were hoping to hit at least 1 million before the end of the year.

James Steele 07-15-2014 06:44 PM

Once they expand it internationally, they'll be fine. You aren't going to get 2 million subscribers in just the USA.

They should but will still show how completely wrong they were about their core US base for the Network. Going into the launch, they were estimating to easily hit the million plus mark and hyping their core base being in 5-10 million range.

Played a big role in why their stocks dropped after the first numbers were revealed and a mini-factor for why their new tv deal wasn't as massive as they were expecting.

WWE: Sting confirms he would love to wrestle Undertaker before he quits - and pinpoints Wrestlemania 31 for "one last big match"

Sports entertainment icon Sting has given the clearest indication yet he WILL step into a WWE ring for the first time in his near three decade career, declaring: "I'm all for it."

The WWE 2K15 video game star, a former eight time WCW World champion, has also targeted a date for "one last big match" - next year's WrestleMania.

Speaking exclusively to the Mirror about his debut in the WWE's forthcoming video game release, the veteran headliner admits the opportunity to finally make his mark in the company that won the 'Monday Night Wars' TV battle was one he couldn't miss out on.

"Why now? It's a now or never thing," says the 55-year-old.

"I've done so many things in the wrestling business but the one thing I'd never done was wrestle or be a part of the WWE family.

"I didn't want too hang it all up and retire and disappear again without having done that in some capacity."

And it is evident Sting - real name Steve Borden - visualises his inclusion in the game as two pre-order playable characters as only the start of his relationship with WWE.

"I've made it clear I'd love to have one last hurrah, one last big match hopefully. And of course I've been outspoken about Undertaker being the opponent," he replies, when asked if he is open to negotiate lacing up his boots for the company.

"I know what happened at Wrestlemania where Brock Lesnar broke his streak. I think, or at least I'm hoping, that Taker's still going to come back and that he's not done. If he's not done, and he would consider doing it, I'd love to work with him one time.

"I'd love to wrestle him one time before I call it quits."

Asked whether his character may appear live on WWE television shows as part of 2K15's promotional campaign, Sting gave fans every hope he would be seeing action in the ring.

"All for it, just put it that way. I'm all for it," he says.

"Undertaker maintained a status in wrestling and the WWE that is second to none. He's a phenomenon," Sting adds, before answering unequivocally as to where he might like his dream match to take place: "How about San Francisco, 2015, in April?"

Neither would he object to having his career recognised by the annual WWE ceremony that only months ago honoured the late Ultimate Warrior, the special draw for last year's game - and Sting's tag team partner when the pair were both rookies.

"Obviously it would be a great honour to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. It's nothing that I would say no to, that's for sure," he adds.

It was in paying tribute to Warrior in April, who died three days after his HoF induction and just hours after rattling the ropes on TV show Raw for the first time in nearly 18 years, that Borden made his first appearance on WWE programming.

He recalls: "We started in California - he was in Atlanta, I was in California and called him up because I had met him a year earlier and asked him to come to this wrestling camp. It was 'let's do a tag team thing, let's get this thing going and see what we can do'.

Within a few years of teaming up in Memphis, Tennessee for the first time, both had carved out roles as heroes to millions of children across the globe - but for different promotions.

Sting continues: "Now I can look back and realise just how amazing it all was. It's remarkable really that both of us ended up taking it all as far as we did."

"It would seem like every three, four, five years or so we'd bump into each other," Sting adds.

"He called me twelve years ago, he needed some help with some stuff and of course I was there to help him out as much as I could. We never really kept in contact, but it was always friendly when we did.

"With his resurgence with WWE I was really looking forward to reconnecting with him again, and maybe even working with him in some capacity through WWE."

Despite his considerable experience, Sting presents many fascinating and fresh potential storyline opportunities for WWE to capitalise on, as well as game players.

Singling out young, bright performers as Daniel Bryan ("unreal talent"), Roman Reigns ("all the ability, all the talent to become one of the greatest") and Bray Wyatt ("unbelievable talent on the microphone and in ring, a very physical guy"), Sting says he is excited about dream matches that until now seemed impossible getting a virtual run out.

"It's a no brainer that the Sting-'Taker match will be a popular option - that's one way the fans can make that match happen.

"I always wanted to work with the likes of The Rock, John Cena and Randy Orton so I can't imagine wrestling fans won't want to do the same thing."

A little surprisingly, Sting hasn't shared a room with WWE supremo Vince McMahon since they both attended a TV industry expo in the early 1990s - and they have never actually met each other, despite having a "handful" of talks over the years.

"It never did work," says Sting, who says he has had some conversations with Executive Vice President and onscreen authority figure Triple H in the last few months.

"But Vince would always say: 'Make sure to always cross your T's and dot your I's. I know that we'll do business some day'.

"And I guess he had a better sense, or was more prophetic, than I could ever be."

I've often said that I have never really been that big of a fan of Sting's. I should preface it like this: I fucking HATED Surfer Sting with his bright colored britches, Sgt. Pepper Jackets, and goofy "I like everyone" demeanor.

Maybe that's where my disdain of Cena's character came from? Too much like the hokey Sting I didn't like?

Tom Guycott 07-16-2014 02:02 AM

Now that you mention it, it does look look odd. It's not like you'd have to decide to just sit and count them. You'd just have to notice the even rows sticking out further than the odd rows.

It's something that people see often that is suddenly skewed in one instance. I hardly think it takes Rain Man to glance at it for a couple seconds and say "Wait, something's not right..." and then figure out there's an inexplicable extra column of stars. Like I said, it's not like someone had to sit there counting them.

A big reason why WWE signed KENTA is because the WWE Network is expanding into Japan next year and they really have wanted a top Japanese star for that reason.

It's clear so far that WWE officials are not bringing KENTA in to fail and from an importance standpoint, it appears there is more to his signing than meets the eye.

KENTA is playing a big part in WWE's Japanese expansion as it was announced a few days ago that NXT, where KENTA will be going first, will start airing on J Sports, a Japanese satellite channel. NXT was added to the channel due KENTA being expected to be a regular there in just a few months.

KENTA is scheduled to arrive in Orlando this coming week and WWE has another press conference scheduled then.

The recent WWE budget cut has been giving the crew some problems on the road, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The WWE production crew used get access to a bus on Mondays and Tuesdays, and Sunday to Monday on pay-per-view weeks. After dismantling the set around 1 am, they would sleep on location and drive to the next arena the following day to set up the next show. Now, after the introduction of a $20 million budget cut, the bus has been taken away, so the crew now has to drive to the next city, cutting into the amount of hours they get to sleep. In addition, they could also take naps and catch up on rest after the stage and arena was set up, but this is no longer the case. Reports now say the change is so exhausting on the crew that there’s a feeling a lot of the workers will start looking for work somewhere else

The decision was made, and this was before Bryan went down, that Reigns would be getting the big focused face push to the top with Cena, Bryan and Sheamus (who has also cooled down greatly because the way they book their secondary champions almost inherently does so) as the key guys. Cesaro is slated for a face push, but no time soon. The idea is “when we need it,” which would likely be after the big push for Reigns has already fully established him and they need the next rising star. The danger is Cesaro may have cooled off by that point, and really already has. It’s not like if they turn him and push him he doesn’t get over, but whether he reaches the level he could have had they taken advantage of the timing and momentum he had a few months ago, that’s the question.

Droford 07-17-2014 06:35 PM

To expand on my idea since I thought more about it. If WWE is going to a ton of trouble for the rights to do the network in different countries they should at least try to create region specific original "in ring" programming. Basically take the nxt concept and expand it to England, Japan,Mexico, etc. it would give them their own international feeder system for main roster call ups and those countries would have WWE prescence year round instead of tours. As far as being on the network, as cool as it'd be for the shows to be available everywhere they'd probably need to be limited due to the rights issues. but maybe once a year they could have an international NXT cup special or something similar.

with their current money problems I don't think this could happen any time soon. But I don't have a doubt that they haven't thought about building performance centers in other countries and my idea would be the logical extension of that, and they've probably thought about it too.

The expressions of both Randy and the woman in front of him ("Where am I?" and "WTF?!" respectively)look like he unexpectedly teleported there with a loud, Nightcrawleresque "BAMF!"

Meanwhile, the girl is like "Why isn't this moving yet???"

It might have. See that diagonal line on the inside? They just hit the "undo" function in MSPaint to erase them and filled it in with a freehand mouse swipe. No harm, no foul.

As for what you were originally alluding to, I think that whatever they used to make the flags was too big to begin with, but they wanted it to fill the front of the podium to come off better on TV (that flag is incredibly long). They likely made the blue field and the stripes first, put in the correct ammount of stars, then had too much field left over, so they put in the extra stars and hoped nobody would notice... or at least notice it less than all the extra blue.

... and nobody has mentioned how that Macho Man appears to be able to rotate. I hope it's powered to spin. And play "Pomp and Circumstance" while it does it.

The girl is like "why are you staring at my dad?"

Is that Nidia? She looks like Nidia.

Yeah, it was on the local Uni-vision affiliate here for awhile.

I see it, but she looks more like Victoria to me.

Several segments were either cut down or re-written at Monday night's WWE RAW from Richmond. WWE writers were still working on the last hour of RAW while the first hour was broadcasting.
Professional writers... getting paid actual money... still trying to throw together a weekly show as it's happening.

Randy fucking cut in line for The Boss. I'm too lazy to type so here is what my friend posted on Facebook.

I first saw him at hurricane harbor and got a chance to say what's up as they were leaving..... then we decide to check out the Boss and we are next in line to get in the last row and we see him again in the front row of the coaster that just finished.... at this point the Viper decided one round wasn't enough and proceeds to walk to the back of the same coaster and get in our seats.... no apology, no friendly wave!

This was by far the greatest heel move of them all and he's not even at work! Even tho he clearly butted directly in front of me....he basically butted in front of hundreds of kids at a theme park for his own personal gain

Fignuts 07-18-2014 03:12 AM

Watching The Great American Bash dvd, and really enjoying the alternate commentaries. WWE needs to do this more often on their releases.

XL 07-18-2014 04:04 AM

Yeah! Cutting in line should be a felony, really.

Isn't it true that a lot of the WWE guys are dicks in real life?

I've heard a few stories in the past, but as they've came from the internet, you can never really believe them 100%.

I've heard stories that Orton is a dick in real life, or at least he used to be until he became a father. I've heard stories that Cena is a dick, along with Del Rio and Sheamus. Big Show is apparently supposed to be a dick to you when you're new in the WWE, and I've heard that Goldust is a dick online, with Twitter and so on.

Also, as we all know, Punk is a huge dick. I get the feeling that I would absolutely hate hanging out with him.

Speaking of Punk, I actually came across a story about him last week or so but I don't know when it was from, but apparently he was complaining about the WWE going to Japan and the wrestlers getting Ribera Steakhouse jackets. I think it was because Justin Roberts got a jacket one time.

I'm paraphrasing here, but he said that most wrestlers now just go to Japan, have a match, go to the steakhouse for the jacket, then go home, and that nobody really lives/works in Japan in order to get the jacket anymore. He went on and said that the jackets have lost their meaning and tradition and that they aren't special anymore and because of that, he no longer wants the one he got. Then Colt Cabana agreed with him and said that he doesn't want his jacket either, because of that reason.

But again, it was on the internet so take it with pinch of salt. Though it does sound like something he would say and do.

Innovator 07-18-2014 10:09 AM

I think Ribera has two different types of jackets, the black and red ones they hold for guys they really like/work in Japan regularly.

Evil Vito 07-18-2014 10:21 AM

<font color=goldenrod>Had a dream last night that Barrett returned as #30 in the Rumble when there was only one man left in the ring (struggling to remember who it was) and just as he got to the ring Otunga, Gabriel, Slater, Young, and Rybaxel hopped the barricade and the poor schmuck in the ring got a 7 on 1 beatdown and then eliminated.

Would say it was a pretty random dream, but then again I did just re-watch the Nexus debut last night.</font>

it's usually one guy has a bad experience with somebody and that gets around via word of mouth or the internet and so on and then it becomes gospel that so-and-so is a dickhead when in reality it's probably a lot of people that have never met so-and-so simply repeating one person's experience. Been around multiple guys that have worked with/on the same show/shared locker rooms etc with Punk "back in the day" and never heard anything bad about him. I think the fact he's a bit outspoken in an age and a business where everybody is so fucking sensitive and take things so personally probably does him no favours.
