You can't help but be as gay as me when it comes to big Jake.

Damian Rey 2.0 08-17-2016 11:25 PM

Kris Bryant for me. Those eyes. That smile.

RP 08-17-2016 11:38 PM

Dude has to have a tight butthole for sure.

Damian Rey 2.0 08-17-2016 11:39 PM

Not after I'm done with him :shifty:

Ol Dirty Dastard 08-17-2016 11:40 PM

Yeah he's dreamy.

I personally believe Russell Martin fucks anything in his path. Understatedly handsome, I say.

RP 08-17-2016 11:40 PM

I'm just saying. He spreads those buttcheeks and it looks like a pin prick.

Damian Rey 2.0 08-17-2016 11:42 PM

Francisco Cervelli is pretty rugged

Ol Dirty Dastard 08-17-2016 11:48 PM

i see it

Ol Dirty Dastard 08-18-2016 12:26 AM

In the same ilk as RP, it is so strange being a Jays fan right now. The Yankees did in this series, what the Jays used to do with the Yankees for most of the past 2 decades. Clockshot said how they had the Jays on the ropes and they did. If Pineda stays in the game, I think Yankees sweep the Jays. But the storm hits, the delay happens and everything changes and the Jays escape the series with a 2-1 win.

Yankees fans would have a hard time understanding this, but what happened to you this weekend (and other series in the past 2 seasons) has happened to the Jays almost every season since 1994. It is really weird to see the Jays do crazy things in Yankees stadium.

Evil Vito 08-18-2016 09:01 AM

I hope the Cubs do win the pennant if not the whole thing. There really aren't any other possible NL teams I could see myself pulling for, except for maybe the Pirates if they find a way in.

Fuck the Nats/Murphy, fuck the Dodgers/Utley, fuck the Cardinals and Marlins in general. I don't hate the Giants but I'd like to see the even year thing die.

I'd be happy with pretty much any of the AL teams except for Boston, which has been done to death. I wouldn't even mind the O's winning it all because I could simply put Droford on ignore.

Ruien 08-18-2016 09:40 AM

I want the Jays or Rangers to win the AL. Nats or Marlins would be my choice for the NL.

Ol Dirty Dastard 08-18-2016 09:49 AM

Who is your team again Ruien?

Ol Dirty Dastard 08-18-2016 09:52 AM

Don't get me wrong, I'm not huge on Baltimore as they are direct division rivals, but I feel I would hate them a lot less if it wasn't for Droford.

Damian Rey 2.0 08-18-2016 01:25 PM

Jays Cubs please. So many fun players on each team.

Damian Rey 2.0 08-18-2016 01:42 PM

Like, Jays Cubs would have a ridiculous amount of superstar flavor. Bautista, Donaldson, Encarnacion as the established power houses. Stroman and Sanchez as the up and comers.

For huge Cubs they have Lackey and Lester reaching the promised land once again, with legitimate superstar tandem Rizzo and Bryant, Russell is a future star, probably Contreas too.

Just seems like such a fresh matchup.

Estrada I'm worried about a bit but he usually rises to the occasion. I think Happ has turned a big corner in his career and if you get Stroman consistent (which he has been since that awful 2 month stretch) you have a decent pitching core... nevermind Sanchez who we have no fucking clue what they're going to do with.

Droford 08-18-2016 09:06 PM

The Orioles unloaded a lot of frustration out on the Astros..it's 12-3 in the 6th on 5 homers

Damian Rey 2.0 08-18-2016 09:17 PM

Too bad they can't swing their way two games up.

Emperor Smeat 08-18-2016 09:36 PM

MLB considering some big changes for future seasons with the earliest they could take effect be around 2018/2019.

Damian Rey 2.0 08-18-2016 09:44 PM

Can't see any of those being beneficial. The limiting of shifts and reliever changes is so stupidl. It's an active move against strategy. Why would they limit strategy? Christ.

Emperor Smeat 08-18-2016 10:46 PM

More attempts to cut back the time lengths of games since its been the new comish's goal ever since his reign started.

The idea of a pitch clock would be the easiest mostly because its already done in the minors and MLB already has enough data to feel it was effective.

Stuff like changing the pitchers mound would be way too drastic since it would require a ton of changes to happen just to shave off a bit more time. Probably wouldn't see any real effect until the next gen or two of pitchers since they would have been used to the new mound by then.

Damian Rey 2.0 08-18-2016 11:15 PM

The only way they're going to shave off any real time is by cutting ad time during commercial breaks. Which isn't happening.

Evil Vito 08-18-2016 11:34 PM

I might just stop watching baseball if they implement some of those changes.

Evil Vito 08-18-2016 11:53 PM

Mets get a grand slam off of of Bumgarner. Then deGrom who has been their clear ace and only starter worth a shit of late serves up 5 runs the very next inning including a 2 run bomb to Bumgarner.

This team is a failure on every level imaginable.

Evil Vito 08-19-2016 12:13 AM

Aaaaand deGrom gives up 3 more runs. 8 runs given up on a night when they were fortunate enough to score 4 off of Bumgarner in game they absolutely needed to have.

Thanks Jake :y: and to think he was the only player on this roster that hadn't turned into a gutless turd over the last month

White Sox and I 100% agree with the Baltimore thing. I actually liked then before Droford happenes.

Ol Dirty Dastard 08-19-2016 09:36 AM

The White Sox are perplexing to me because they seem like they should have no issues competing at the top of the division and yet... they don't? What's the deal, Ruien?

The bullpen is terrible. I don't have any stats but I am certain the White Sox have the most blown leads going into the 7th, 8th, and 9th inning. If it wasn't for that the Sox would probably be contenders win the division.

Seems like there are a ton of issues inside the club house with players and upper management too.

Happ has been the MVP of the team by far and was a great signing in the off-season. Never going to be an ace, but a solid #3 option just like Estrada.

I'm just frustrated. The guy has pitched his heart out and gotten almost no run support. Then they finally give him some and he lays a total fucking egg. Nothing has gone right for this team at all and a year after a pennant it's upsetting.

I'd say in this particular year he has been the team's ace. Probably not in the future, but he's been THE guy this year for this team (as you said with your MVP declaration).

If he's consistently turned the corner for the rest of his career, with his use of the fastball, I think that makes him a reliable #2. Estrada is great but he has to be perfect or else balls start leaving the ballpark, which makes him a really go 3 or 4. Happ can be a bit off, but he's got real gas and a deceptive fastball where he uses "all 4 quadrants of the plate" blah blah blah making him a real mainstay as a legit #2 in any rotation. But it all depends on how he performs from hereon in and how he looks next year. But as a one off year, this season in itself has been one hell of an accomplishment, and nobody can take that away from him.

Evil Vito 08-19-2016 11:25 AM

And there isn't any real reason to be optimistic about the team next year. But people want to keep pointing to the pitching. People said that in the second half this year they'd have deGrom, Thor, Harvey, Matz, and Wheeler all together.

Well Wheeler never threw a pitch in the big leagues this year. Harvey sucked and now has a potentially career-derailing TOS injury. Matz has pitched through bone spurs in his elbow for two months and now is being shut down with a shoulder injury. Thor's also pitching through elbow bone spurs and is clearly a Tommy John candidate. That leaves you with only deGrom.

You can't build a team entirely on pitching anymore because pitchers are far more injury prone than they used to be. And good luck thinking the offense will bail them out as Sandy loses Cespedes and Walker to free agency and continues to try to assemble a team of free-swinging hackers.

Ol Dirty Dastard 08-19-2016 11:31 AM

Happ's ERA is 3.05 and his FIP is almost 4. lol if you've watched the guy pitch this year that is a load of utter shit.

Ol Dirty Dastard 08-19-2016 11:34 AM

With the exact same defence, Marcus Stroman's FIP is 3.85 with an ERA of 4.6. Once again, if you've watched him pitch, it hasn't been a matter of "luck" it's been a matter of not pitching well with runners in scoring position.

I'm sorry, but that stat is wildly stupid.

Damian Rey 2.0 08-19-2016 03:39 PM

It's because Stroman has a lesser homerun and walk rate while facing more batters than Happ.

It's only stupid because you're not trying to understand what it's telling and how.

Damian Rey 2.0 08-19-2016 03:42 PM

I feel like you're thinking that fip thinks Stroman is better. That's not what it's for. It's a stat that gives you expected performance for a player based on their rates of walks, homers and strikeouts.

Fip is saying that you should expect/project Stroman to do a little better and Happ to regress a bit.

WAR is the stat you'd use to judge who's better in any given year.

Red Sox are about to overtake the division with what I think will be relative ease.

Ol Dirty Dastard 08-20-2016 05:04 PM

You and me both, handsome ;)

Tough loss lastnight but unless your Zach Britton you can't save'm all, plus the whole team apart from the pitching was dreadful last night. Serious concentration lapses.

Damian Rey 2.0 08-20-2016 06:20 PM

Nah. I think it's just the peaks and valleys of a season. They have a very, very good rotation and their lineup is legit. They'll be fine.

oh 100 per cent. But they just weren't very good, mainly in the field. Devon Travis was woeful. Just issues of concentration on his part.

No issue with Osuna getting smacked around. Would rather he went out there and gave up bombs then went out there and walked guys. He'll shake it off like he always has.

Was VERY impressed with Liriano. Buck Martinez and Pat Tabler called it before game, and said in his side session he was throwing a nasty 4 seam fastball and it really paid dividends in the start.

Grilli and Benoit were also very good. Grilli this year has been sensational for the Jays and is the glue holding the bullpen together.

Biggest issue for the team is 7-9 in the line up. And by 7-9 I mean Justin Smoak and BJ Upton. Upton I can deal with because he is a very potent ball player when he wants to be, but Justin Smoak has proven time and time again he cannot hit with runners on base and frankly isn't that good with the bases empty. His strikeout rate is staggering. He's a good defensive first basemen but at this point, you may as well have a pitcher batting in his spot. He's been extended, but he deserves to be DFA'd.

Damian Rey 2.0 08-20-2016 07:20 PM

When you can only complain about the bottom third of your lineup you're in a good spot lol

Ol Dirty Dastard 08-20-2016 07:59 PM

well I could complain about a few other things but at the end of the day they're 16 games over .500 and they play hard.

Ol Dirty Dastard 08-20-2016 08:00 PM

When Upton lines a pitch up, he has a gorgeous swing.

Damian Rey 2.0 08-20-2016 08:46 PM

He does. He's a fun player to watch when he gets going.

Ol Dirty Dastard 08-20-2016 09:55 PM

Ya but if you let both teams grt like a 4 game lead over you its really doubtful you are coming back from that on both teams. And right now it's all about winning the division instead of the toss up wild card game.

I was upset they didn't try and get Ruiz, but I like this better. Mostly improve by subtraction by getting rid of Thole, but with no Thole its not looking good for Dickey to make the postseason roster, which doesn't hurt my feelings.
