For Japan. NA is getting them separately on XBLA and PSN.

Drakul 03-24-2011 12:08 PM

I played RE4 on the Wii and I can't imagine it being any better minus the Wii pointer. I never realy played Veronica so I'll like buy that at some point. I'd really like the first 3 up for download, though. I missed out on RE2 and 3.

G 03-24-2011 12:14 PM

2 and 3 are on PSN, if you have one

RoXer 03-24-2011 12:37 PM

How many RE games are there? Gunna look it up...

Boomer 03-24-2011 12:43 PM

The only one of the main series I never finished was Zero. Probably still have the save file, but I never got very interested in finishing it.

Never touched any of the spinoffs. Had a roommate who had one of the Outbreaks, and it was fucking terrible to watch.

Should I not worry about the spinoffs and gun games?

Boomer 03-24-2011 12:59 PM

I've heard the Wii gun games are ok, but everything else I'm not sure about. I think the Outbreak idea was cool in theory (co-op multiplayer on the PS2), but never worked well in execution.

Kalyx triaD 03-24-2011 01:02 PM

The Wii gun are pretty decent, but story wise you're good with the core series. Also watch RE: Degeneration (CGI movie).

Actually... if you wanna get deep into the mythology perhaps the Wii games will do. They retread the first games with added elements and characters. Or you could wiki it.

I'll start playing these once I've finished all the X-Files games.

Boomer 03-24-2011 01:11 PM

Haha I played the PS1 X-Files game in college. My girlfriend at the time was a huge X-Files nerd, and I did it just to appease her. It was god-awful; would have never completed it quickly without a walkthrough. I remember one part where there was a bullet I had to find that was like five pixels on the screen.

Can't remember if I played through the PS2 one or not. I think I did? I remember starting it for sure.

Kinda surprised how close that is to mine. I really didn't like RE5 much at all, but gave it a better rating just on the merit of its co-op. Trying to forget how much it felt like a crazy expensive action-movie version of RE4.

Yeah I was unsure if it would be as 1 collection for NA like in Japan since it was only rumored to be made and just Japan getting it as a collection was confirmed before any news on a NA release.

SPEAKING OF RE!

Quote:

The May 2011 issue of Official Xbox Magazine will feature a new Resident Evil game as its cover story, titled Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, according to Stickskills. Supposedly, this is the long-rumored game by ex-SOCOM developer Slant Six.

RE:ORC will be set in 1998, taking you back to the original outbreak that defined the events in Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. You'll be playing as four members of the Umbrella Security Services squad (inspired by RE2 hidden character Hunk) who are destroying all evidence of this outbreak in a team-based shooter. That includes killing both real zombies -- who can detect you through sight, sound, and smell -- and survivors!

From the looks of it, RE:ORC will be as much about direct combat as it will be about manipulating "Umbrella-created horrors" and other opposition in fights between themselves. What is sure to raise some fans' eyebrows is that you'll also be able to "change the history of Resident Evil," potentially meeting and killing key RE universe characters and destroying canon. Another quote from OXM that may bother some: "It's not fair to give people big guns, then take all the ammo away."

RE:ORC is slated for a Winter 2011 release on Xbox 360 and PS3, and check out Stickskills for an extensive list of bullet points fromt he OXM cover story.
From DToid, natch.

Not liking the sound of this...

The survey for Forza 4 hints at a few new possible features the game will contain for the Kinect aspect of the game.

Choices from the survey include possible head tracking controls for viewing turns, a "casual" racing mode that lets players drive cars with their hands only, and voice controls for menu navigation.

Also hinted was the game to look about 10x better than Forza 3, a new campaign/challenge mode to increase the variety of races and challenges, and about 500 cars from 80 car companies to choose from.

A virtual tour mode also was hinted being voice controlled by Kinect for every car in the showroom.

Sony announces American PSN accounts are being switched over to a new branch in Sony to deal with the network aspect of the Playstation brand on April 1st of this year.

SCEA will no longer handle PSN accounts and instead everything is getting transferred to SNEA (Sony Network Entertainment America). The new transfer does mean new EULA's have to be accepted in order to continue using PSN online.

I don't have a PS3. Just a Wii and a 360. If they ever stick the games on XBLA, I'll be pleased.

I'll pass on RE:ORC, though.

ESRB leaked out info and details concerning Sega's upcoming Kinect game called Rise of Nightmares.

Similar to Splatterhouse and Bulletstorm, the game will be very gory and focused more on melee attacks in a horror theme/setting for story and gameplay.

Quote:

ESRB description of the game:
This is a horror-adventure game in which players assume the role of an American tourist who must rescue his wife from a deranged scientist. From a first-person perspective, players use brass knuckles, knives, hatchets, and chainsaws to kill zombie-like creatures and disfigured monsters inside a mansion environment. Combat is highlighted by exaggerated sprays of blood, and damage often results in dismemberment or decapitation-stray body parts sometimes litter the ground. Some sequences and cutscenes depict more intense acts of violence: a man screams loudly as spikes impale his body; a restrained character's hand is chopped off before he is killed; a character (cut in half) crawls away in a pool of blood; a soldier is ripped apart by a monster, causing blood to stain the screen. During the course of the game, some female creatures are depicted in revealing outfits (e.g., 'pasties' that partially cover their breasts); in one sequence, a woman sits on the central character's chest and engages in suggestive dialogue (e.g., 'Oh, how I've thought of this-night after night. How I've missed these lips.'). Dialogue also includes phrases such as 'Best sex of my life.'/'Worst sex of my life,' 'f**k,' and 'sh*t.'
The game is set for a late 2011 release date.

The developer working on the River City Ransom sequel confirms the game is set to arrive on Wiiware in Japan this summer. The game will also release on PC with a TBA 2012 release date which could also hint at when the game could be available outside of Japan.

The website for the game showed off NES-style sprites hinting the choice of system being the Wii due to XBLA mandating HD for all games (not sure if PSN has same requirement).

Drakul 03-26-2011 02:29 AM

I didn't see that post there. I've just bumped the Kinect thread with the same story.

Extreme Angle 03-26-2011 05:03 AM

Ok something's up with my 360... Or LIVE account, either way.

So monday afternoon, I try to go on my 360, it shows all of the accounts on my HDD but my main account 'Funk Bro' isn't there, I then checked on the system's memory and found that the Gamer Profile was corrupt. So I then recovered the account and it all worked fine, started playing again.

Last night, I was just looking through my achievements to see which games I didn't really give a real chance. Then, WHAM! right between Dragon Age 2 and Fallout 3 is Fight Night Round 4, a game I have never played, it had 2 achievements in it too...

So Fallout was the main game I was playing before the release of, DA2. I had been playing DA2 before and after the recover.

I'm zoinked... Not sure if somebody has recovered my account somehow or something else...

alvarado52 03-26-2011 05:38 AM

sounds like someone got ahold of your account to me

Not quite sure why Turk is on the Sims Medieval ad, but I like it.

Ok. I'm in a bit of a gaming dilemma. I want a 3DS but couldn't afford one at launch.
Now, I've done my "budgeting" from now until mid-June and I've worked out that I can either buy the LE of the new Mortal Kombat game (It's just a £10 extra) and then get the 3DS in mid-June or July or I can cancel Mortal Kombat and get a 3DS by the end of the second week in May.

I'm not totally sure which to do. Suggestions?

#BROKEN Hasney 03-28-2011 11:14 AM

Having played the MK demo, I'd say 3DS with SF4 and the built in stuff all day long.

I enjoyed MK to a degree, but it's still like the 8th or 9th best fighting game on this generation of consoles.

Drakul 03-28-2011 11:56 AM

I was leaning slightly towards the 3DS already but even more so now. I'll probably go for the 3DS and pick up MK later. I have plenty of console fighters anyway.

G 03-28-2011 04:16 PM

The demos and stuff they did on Jimmy Fallon made me want one. Had no idea it could do that stuff, particularly making the section of table move.

#BROKEN Hasney 03-28-2011 04:45 PM

Yeah, the AR games rock. Gonna take a walk and get some play coins tomorrow and buy the sequel to the golf.

Love the end game of the AR fishing after going the shooting and golf

Monster Hunter for the 3DS confirmed to be in development after it was leaked of being rumored to be shown during this year's canceled Monster Hunter Festa. Capcom wanted to show off the game as the big announcement for the event but the recent earthquake forced them to cancel the event.

Since the next big convention is still months away and Nintendo's own conference planned with Capcom was also canceled, Capcom reports their big 3DS announcement will occur during April.

It is assumed this will be the official unveiling of Monster Hunter for 3DS due to everything else Capcom has planned was already announced before the event.

Namco could possibly be working on a set of new Katamari games based on recent searches of patent/copyright filings. The request by Namco was done on March 25 with Namco trying to lock rights to “Katamari Amore” and “Katamari Amore Rolling Whopper."

Time Crisis itself might be getting another game due to Namco filing a copyright request hinting at a new Time Crisis being developed as well.

Ugh. Even more temptation to buy one. I recently "fell in love" with Monster Hunter Tri, having put in 40 hours in 2 weeks. Really good stuff, especially when you have a regular crowd of 3 to play with.
