Taken 2 - 55
dunno, liked it well enough but it wasn't near as good as the first which is around a 65 |
The To Do List - 71
One of my favorite comedies I've seen in years, pretty much everything Bill Hader and Clark Gregg did made me laugh. Also I regret seeing it with my mother. |

Evil Dead (2013) - 2.5 / 5
I think Cabin in the Woods set the bar so high that I can no longer enjoy these horror movies. Not that I would have rated it any higher if I hadn't seen Cabin in the Woods. |
.....and that Bronson movie I saw a while back was good. Got talked up by a friend a lot. 3.5 / 5
|
The Wolverine - Pass
It gets a pass because I love all things Wolverine but really it's a fail.pass bordering on fail if I'm being unbiased. |
Moon - 8/10
|
Pacific Rim - 7/10
|
Death Wish II: 8.3/10
|
Begotten:
8/JESUS FUCKIN' CHRIST THIS IS THE MOST DISTURBING MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN (Its on Youtube in its entirety if anyone wants to have horrid images burned into their brain for a few weeks) |
just looked that movie up on wikipedia
seems pretty sexy |
The Wolverine - 7/10
It was better than the first Wolverine film, but in general, a standard blockbuster film. |
I Am Legend: 7.7/10
PASS |
The Wolverine 8/10- Started off slow, but I came at the end
|
Pacific Rim 8/10
|
Before Midnight - 9.873/10

kubrick's odyssey 9/10
fascinating stuff about how stanley kubrick was behind the moon landing photos and videos, and how he left clues in some of his films about apollo 11 |
The Wolverine - 66
I thought it was good, fortunately Japanese are my favorite kind of Asian otherwise it would've been kind of rough. The post credits scene was the best. |
Europa Report - 8/10
|
Zero Dark Thirty: 9/10
|
Pacific Rim. 3.5 out of 5.
Really entertained by the whole thing. Is it full of deep philosophy? No. But whatevs. It was fun. This is how to do a movie of this genre. Fuck you Battleship. |
2012: 3.3/10
Fuck. Just ugh |

I've spent the afternoon reflecting on 2012, and I've decided to downgrade it to a 1. FAIL
|
because John Cusack is in it and he sucks dick, right?
|
Elysium: 3.5/5
Pretty decent. Some pretty bad shaky cam action sequences, though. |
The Lone Ranger: 2.3/10
I grew up loving westerns, however I feel this movie may ruin the genre for at least a generation. |

i didn't like how the story was put together with pieces cut out of scenes then played out later. but there were plenty of breastses |
Elysium - 4/5
If you liked District 9, or are a sci-fi fan you'l like it. Mercenary character taken straight from D9, and a couple of plot holes were the main drawbacks. Could have really driven home the theme but chose to back off. Oh well. Still fun to watch. Action was pretty neat. Best parts were't necessarily the action though. |
King Dinosaur - No/10
|
Grown Ups 2
4/10 The first one was funny, and had a workable plot. This one seemed rushed, and was made to give Sandlers buddies a payday. |
X-Men First Class 10/10 Just for the Wolverine cameo.
|
It's a Disaster - 5/5
|
Thor 4/5. Minus 1 point for Portman's shitty "oh my god" when Thor was kicking major ass.
|
The Royal Tenanbaums - 8/10
Considering my limited exposure to Gwyneth Paltrow, I found her to be very attractive in the film. |
District 9 - 4.5/5
Loved it. Disappointed now in Elysium not being better than "decent". I hope this movie gets a sequel. |
Oblivion
6.5/10 had some points that dragged but over all it was a nice piece of eye candy |
Zero Dark Thirty - 7/10
|
Vamps 7/10
Alicia Silverstone in stockings is all I remember. |

7/10 Just wanted to see if all the action heroes could co-exist a second time. Made it 17 minutes into the movie before I turned on captions or Dolph Lundgren Navigation. Good flick to watch at the start of the day to amp your shit up |
This is England 8/10 didn't like the ending.
|
Sex and the Single Girl(1964)- 5.7/10
Based on the book of the same name by Helen Gurly Brown, this comedy has an all-star cast with Natalie Wood, Henry Fonda, Lauren Bacall, and Tony Curtis. Its mostly a parody of the cultural attitudes at this point in time, 50 years ago and hits the mark in a lot of places. However, while it has its moments it also misses its mark in a bunch of places and the final "chase" scene is long and it drags on. Fun movie, and I like the style from this time period, but nothing to go out of your way and see. |
El Condor(1970): 8/10
Saw the title and the stars (Jim Brown, Lee Van Cleef) on the guide and just knew I had to check it out. A western set in the newly independent Mexico, Brown and Van Cleef get together with a bunch of Apaches' to raid a Mexican Fort that houses millions of dollars in solid good. This movie is a forgotten classic and I was shocked to see it rated with a single star. I loved it. Very "pulp" for the time with nudity and the violence seems like it would have been an early Tarantino film. |
"Lee Van Cleef"?
|
|
Gymkata - Ironically: 80/80
Legitimately 0/80 |
Lots of movies this weekend:
Kick-Ass 2 - 3.5/5 Fun, but lacking a lot of what made the first one great Wreck-It Ralph - 5/5. Very clever, great nostalgia Oz The Great And Powerful - 3/5 Pretty effects and a decent story, but very predictable Identity Thief - 1.5/5 Awful. Least funny comedy I've seen in a very long time |
The Place Beyond the Pines - 8/10
Great performances all around. Dane DeHaan is an intense little bastard. |
Star Trek Into Darkness - 5/5
Holy Hannah, this was good. I can't believe I saw Man of Steel in the theaters instead of this one. Wish I had seen this in theaters. |
What did you watch it on?
|
My computer. Torrents and such.
|
Amazing Spiderman 7.5/10: Still didn't see the reason to reboot it so quickly.
|
The Watch 1.5/5. Actually better than I thought it was going to be.
|
Star Trek: The Motion Picture: 2/5
Was the only Trek movie I never saw before. I swear half the movie was wide panning shots of spaceships intercut with people looking "awed". |
Elysium 8/10
|
The World's End: 8/10
It was fun for what it was. It felt like it was shot on film instead of digital. |
Jurassic Park 3D - 8/10
I have seen it many times before, including at the cinema when it first came out 20 years ago, but this was my first time seeing it in 3D. I'd forgotten how lovely Laura Dern was back in the day. |
The Departed- 8.5 /10
Great film. |
Here Comes The Boom 7/10
It is what it is. The Prestige 9/10 |
Cube: Really entertaining and full of suspense. Goes to show that you don't need every component of a film to be perfect for it to still be really enjoyable. The acting was dreadful and the dialogue between characters wasn't exactly anything special, but the directing and premise carried it to a top level. Really fun. Might check out the sequel and prequel if I can be bothered.
|
Grosse Point Blank - 55
dunno, was OK I guess |
Fuck you, if you aren't going to take this thread seriously just fuck right off!

Elysium - 5/5
Totally thought David Tennant was the bad guy. Just looked it up and it was Sharlto Copeley. |
You're Next.
Or as this moron at my work called it, "Hashtag You're Next - that's how they've been advertising it, so I figured it was called that". This is the same guy who told me that Jason Bateman used to be on Hogan's Heroes. Anyway, I give the film a 2/5. It starts off alright, with a slow - but sometimes painful to watch - build, and then completely falls apart. Predictability abounds - as does the switching of gears of the movie's very own design and pace it builds to. I would not waste my time with this. |

In fact, the prequel was on some lame ass channel at like 2 am few nights ago and I couldn't believe how fuckin' awful this was. |
I skimmed through their wiki pages and was really just intrigued at getting an explanation for the cube. Although not really knowing anything about it is also kinda the appeal of the first film.
|
our friend Rhiannon knows all about Cube if you want information
|
I already mentioned that in 100,000 replies thread which you would know if you weren't such a something
|
Oh, well now I feel like a dickhead, THANKS A LOT!
|
Deuce Bigelow: Male Gigolo- 7.5/10
I avoided this movie for over a decade due to the vitriol and jokes thrown at it. Saw it and really liked it. I would defend this movie. |
Bernie 8/10
Dark comedy, based on a true story. Saw my theater arts teacher as an extra in one of the scenes. That was nice. Jack Black is one of my favorites, and he didn't disappoint |

He was like, 'Are you sure? I'm pretty sure it was Hogan's Heroes.' |
The Conjuring 7/10.
|
Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story--- 7.8/10
There are, inevitably, inaccuracies in this film but what I liked so much about it was the way in which it was a bio pic filmed like an action movie. The format fit this already good film brilliantly. |
Stoker - 7/10
|
Evil Dead 2013 - 7/10
Big Stan - IHOPEROBSCHNEIDERGOESTOPRISON/10 |
John Carter 7/10
|
Rock of Ages - 8/10

The Place Beyond The Pines - 8/10
I saw it via iTunes. The movie was pretty good and deserves to be watched on Blu-Ray as some scenes are shot extremely well. |
Riddick - 7/10
It is really a 6, but it gets an extra point for giving us a shot of one of Katee Sackhoff's boobs. |
Oh damn. Now I've got to see it for some Starbuck boobie action.
|
|
Dirk Benedict's shorts aren't leaving much to the imagination.
|
Oblivion: Pretty shit
|
This Means War
7.5/10 Rom-Com/Action flick. Decent way to spend a couple hours. The Missus enjoyed it. |
We're The Millers 8/10
|
Elysium. 8/10.
|
The Shrine: 7.8/10
|
42 - fail/pass bordering on fail
I don't like biopics. I didn't like this one either. |
Star Trek Into Darkness 9/10
Loved all the nods to the original series in this. |
