Pretty good list except for 3,9. Shamrock wasn't there long enough and Crush sucked. Just because you died doesn't mean you deserve to be in the Hall of Fame.

Methinks you just answered your own question. The same company that seems to put an unrealistic premium on the guys having the look, charisma, and in-ring skills to get it done, they seem to bypass the girls who fit all those qualifications to throw rubbish in the ring so they can justify piss breaks... or hamstring them with shit gimmicks or no gimmick at all.

By the way, I've been having trouble with this thread. Every couple of pages crashes me out of the site. And it is only the 100,001 Wrestling thread that does this, so I might not see me posting something someone already said on another page. Or be current.

Audrey Marie was impressive in the ring. Not really sure what happened with her in NXT. She was just randomly released without much reasoning.

Tom Guycott 07-09-2014 11:58 PM

So, instead of just being random people, he's now becoming random WWE superstars...

Sandow is the new Charlie Haas?

SlickyTrickyDamon 07-10-2014 12:02 AM

I actually thought Haas was getting pretty over doing that but then he was released.

I miss the intellectual savior. Strap the imitator gimmick on a heel who DOESN'T already have a personality of their own.

The update on Bryan is that he may now also require shoulder surgery, as a full exam has revealed a lot of different shoulder and neck issues.
Quote:

With regards to Renee Young’s backstage status in WWE, the belief is she will eventually, at some point, wind up on the Smackdown announce team.

Young has been promoted to the Superstars announce team, and even though WWE has cut back on the Network pre-shows it appears as if they will continue with the PPV pre-shows, which are usually hosted by Young now that Josh Mathews is gone.

Regarding Young possibly leaving WWE for ESPN, she has at least given the impression she intends to stay with WWE, and she has time left on her contract. Young is said to be a “wrestling person” deep down, unlike Jonathan Coachman and Todd Grisham, who are sports guys who were given wrestling jobs.

My Top 10:

1. Kevin Sullivan
2. Arn Anderson (by himself)
3. Mark Lewin
4. Jim Johnston
5. Andy Kaufman (seriously, why hasn't this been done, yet?)
6. Slick
7. One Man Gang
8. Jose Lothario
9. Big Bossman
10. Demolition (if they ever get around to mending fences with Bill Eadie)

Here's mine:

1.Lou Thesz - seriously why the hell hasn't he been inducted yet?
2.The Freebirds - another one that bugs the hell out of me.
3.Paul Heyman
4.Randy Savage
5.The Rock N Roll Express or The Midnight Express
6.El Santo
7. Billy Robinson
8.Stan Hansen
9.The Great Muta
10.Andy Kaufman - Andy truly loved the biz and was hilarious in Memphis.

Fignuts 07-10-2014 01:48 AM

If they're gonna put Inoki in, they should put Baba in too.

Outside of them, the only puro guys I see getting in are Muta, Tigermask, and maybe Liger.

Lock Jaw should be in the HoF for his superb run as the Anonymous Raw General Manager.

Or course, they'd have to actually follow through on the story where I let Hornswoggle take all the heat while I stayed off the grid. They told me they were gonna follow up on it..... but then they never called me back..... bastids..... changed my mind. Screw them and their HoF.

Apparently WWE recently called John Cena the greatest champion of all time.

wow talk about a slap in the face to Bruno Sammartino.

Bruno held the title a combined twelve years.

drave 07-10-2014 11:37 AM

Don't think length, especially with the differences in the industry, is a valid reason to be called "greatest of all time".

drave 07-10-2014 11:38 AM

But Cena, IMO, definitely isn't the greatest champ of all time.

Still have to (reluctantly) go with Hogan. What he did for the industry as a whole has not been rivaled by anyone. Maybe SCSA during the whole "attitude era" business.

You have to go back and watch the old footage to understand what made Bruno great. the NY fans loved the guy for so many years.

I understand in today's world they wanna get over their guy Cena but he isn't the greatest.

Ustream shutting down their iPPV streaming service starting in October.

Quote:

We are sad to tell you that we have decided to shut down our Pay-Per-View (PPV) feature on October 1st, 2014.

It’s always a tough decision to discontinue any feature, but we want to direct our resources to focus on other features and continue providing the best live streaming platform possible.

Here’s what you can expect:
July 9th, 2014 we will no longer allow scheduling of PPV events past September 30th.
September 14th, 2014 PPV event creation will be disabled.
October 1st, 2014 we will shut down our PPV product, remove all PPV events and make all public PPV videos private videos.
October 30th, 2014 all PayPal payments to broadcasters for ticket sales will be complete.

We encourage all users of Ustream PPV to continue using our Free Broadcasting platform, or to subscribe to our Pro Broadcasting service. Our Enterprise Pro Broadcasting plan includes the ability to hide your Ustream channel page and restrict where your content plays. Combined with your own e-commerce or payment gateway capabilities, this would allow you to build your own protected page and charge users to access it.

We are always eager to hear your feedback on this, or any other Ustream features. Please email your feedback to feedback@ustream.tv

In TNA, what are Options A and B? I guess one option is keep the title, but what is the other?

#1-norm-fan 07-10-2014 10:35 PM

Are you referring to when the Destination X options for the X Division champion?

Lock Jaw 07-10-2014 10:38 PM

Yeah. Just keep saying it and assuming everybody knows what it means....

#1-norm-fan 07-10-2014 10:45 PM

They can either keep the X Division title or they can give it up for a shot at the World Title at Destination X.

Option A: Keep the title
Option B: ???
Option C: Give it up for a shot at World Title

Oh. I had no idea there were three options.

Lock Jaw 07-10-2014 11:26 PM

Option B is become another heel authority figure for six weeks.

#1-norm-fan 07-10-2014 11:35 PM

Looking it up, it looks like when the whole thing was created, Hogan gave Aries option A (Giving up the title for a World Title match) and option B (keeping the title) and Aries said "How about option C. Where I give up the title for a World Title match but you give the X Division champion before Destination X the same opportunity every year."

So basically, it was just a passing comment made by Aries and it makes no sense for them to call it "Option C" now since the rule already exists.

Droford 07-10-2014 11:40 PM

Maybe they have to keep invoking option C to allow the next years champ to have the option.

A heel should just call option A to screw over the division

By that logic, though, there should be no "Freebird Rule"*, because the Freebirds don't exist anymore. And nobody should call masterful worked shoots "pipebombs", because the promo that made the term famous was actually given weeks before the one where Punk actually used the term- and it was also "in passing". And let's not forget "Austin 3:16", one of the biggest merch-moving catch phrases in the history of the industry, and it was merely intended to be part of a larger dig at Jake Roberts' on his KOTR loss.

Sometimes, things just stick. They become a thing. And even though TNA should make a better effort to explain to any potential newbs what "Option C" is (without going overboard like with explaining every three sentences that Rellik is "killer" backwards, or that Jeff Hardy and Willow are the same person.)

*Actually, I still believe WWE dropped the ball on that recently by not having 3MB become tag champs and re-introducing the Freebird Rule much like when they did so with Spirit Squad or the 3-man incarnation of Demolition. 3MB were custom built for such a gimmick.

No, it's not the same logic. I'm not saying "it shouldn't be used simply because it was a passing comment". I'm saying "it shouldn't be used because it ISN'T option C and therefore doesn't make sense and just confuses people."
