How much did they cost you?

Boomer 02-10-2009 01:16 PM

I got both for 55. I couldn't turn that down.

Kalyx triaD 02-10-2009 01:18 PM

Nice pads. Has a classic console look to them.

G 02-10-2009 01:18 PM

Have you fingered the d pad yet? What's it like?

Boomer 02-10-2009 01:25 PM

It's really really fluid. No clicking or anything. I don't imagine it will cause much strain on your thumb. Gonna hook it up to my arcade in a bit and try it on some Third Strike.

Boomer 02-10-2009 01:51 PM

I definitely don't have any trouble with F,D,DF motions. D,DB,B motions were a little weird...but its probably just me...something I could definitely get used to. I can definitely see how doing it too much could cause some carpal tunnel...but for a D-Pad on the 360 its the best you are going to get. I'm a little worried about doing focus attacks, considering those will be the buttons in the middle, and unless I map the shoulders to 3P and 3K I probably wouldn't be able to do Ultras easily...but again...probably won't be a problem with practice.

Funky Fly 02-10-2009 07:07 PM

What the fucking fuck? Are those not wireless? Shitballs.

Kalyx triaD 02-10-2009 07:15 PM

How far do you sit from your console? I don't think I've ever actually needed a wireless controller. They're great, but they didn't change my life.

G 02-10-2009 07:16 PM

Come on Funky, you of all people should know that hardcore fighting gamers demand nothing but the best. And the best means 100% perfect button reaction time with no possible chances of delays.

Depending on which couch I'm on, as far away as about 35 feet.

Even on low batteries, 360 controllers do not lag. Ever. Anyone who bitches about that is a crappy player.

35 feet, man?

G 02-10-2009 07:31 PM

LOL from across the parking lot!

We got a lot of people over from time to time and we need room.

Kalyx triaD 02-10-2009 07:48 PM

That's pushing it. The players could be within a decent range of the console while the others watch from behind/sides. I've simply never seen players that far from a console, not even in public tournies.

Funky Fly 02-10-2009 07:49 PM

I usually walk closer, calm down.

Kalyx triaD 02-10-2009 07:50 PM

It's absurd, I won't stand for it. I won't rest until your gaming privileges are taken.

Funky Fly 02-10-2009 07:56 PM

They pretty much are right now. Busted 360 and Wii. :'(

Thanks for that sad reminder that I won't be getting to play SF4 for a while. :'(

Kalyx triaD 02-10-2009 07:58 PM

If you wouldn't control your games from across town they wouldn't be busted.

Funky Fly 02-10-2009 08:00 PM

I WILL FUCKING TIGER UPPERCUT YOUR FACE FUCKING OFF :'(

G 02-10-2009 08:00 PM

Not without a working system you won't. :p

Funky Fly 02-10-2009 08:03 PM

Fuck you guys. :(

Boomer 02-10-2009 09:01 PM

Doing a double 360 on a pad just seems impossible to me without jumping. I couldn't see any Zangief player using one.

Funky Fly 02-10-2009 09:03 PM

They simplified his controls apparently.

Kalyx triaD 02-10-2009 09:07 PM

That command, and the Tiger Knee motion, is just stupid. I like what HD Remix did for those commands and I wish they would just use them in 4.

Fignuts 02-10-2009 09:23 PM

Funky, do you do line sprints, whilst holding your controller?

in your pants?

Funky Fly 02-10-2009 09:30 PM

I do line sprints, whilst holding my controller... in your pants.

I am that good.

#BROKEN Hasney 02-11-2009 02:43 PM

It's out on the t'interwebs for those with the facility.

Not me, no new discs until 26th Feb :(

Gerard 02-11-2009 06:04 PM

Think i'll snag this for pc when it comes out along with one of those pads. 360's dpad is beyond pathetic for just about anything.

HeartBreakMan2k 02-14-2009 02:07 PM

Just picked up the arcade fight stick from my buddys store. Didn't have a reservation on it but since I used to be an area manager with Gamestop they saved one for me anyway. I love my old store managers. 25% off too

Boomer 02-14-2009 04:43 PM

I would have gotten a standard edition fight stick instead of the fight pad, but Best Buy isn't selling them. I mean the fight pad is alright, but the game is still made better for a stick.

-edit- I mean how can you sell the Fightpad and the High-end Tournament Edition stick but not the one in between? I just don't get it.

Because they are just large scale vendors, not fighting game aficionados.

Boomer 02-14-2009 10:54 PM

That doesn't make sense to me honestly. You sell two out of three new controller products you might as well sell the third. The Tournament Edition sticks sold out everywhere, why not give people a worthy alternative since stock is so low. I mean you only need enough stock for the release really. People will buy them. Large scale vendors sell ridiculous amounts of guitar and drum controllers and Best Buy sells the friggin' Ion Drum Kit (which I've personally rung up three times). I just don't see a good reason. The only thing that is a real telltale sign is that the TE sticks were online-only...but they are still selling them.

Funky Fly 02-14-2009 10:57 PM

They are a giant corporation. If they could, they'd just club you with a blackjack and take your money.

Boomer 02-14-2009 10:59 PM

They already do. Have you seen HDMI cord prices?

G 02-14-2009 11:01 PM

You can buy that joystick for cheap.

Funky Fly 02-14-2009 11:02 PM

People will pay for it because Monster has the THX stamp of approval, not that it means much.

BTW, I got monster cables on my TV, but I paid a whoping $10 because I have connections.

Boomer 02-14-2009 11:02 PM

If I got my hands on a TE I'd probably eBay it right now too. Demand is ridiculous.

Funky Fly 02-14-2009 11:07 PM

I just dropped a hundred on PSP games, $120 on a new 1TB hard drive and $130 on an NDS emulation set up. Thursday I drop $80 on SF4: CE and probably $35 on the new Fire Emblem for DS (EVEN THOUGH i JUST GOT THE CYCLO DS EVO, FUCK).

My wallet hurts. :'(

Boomer 02-14-2009 11:07 PM

If I was actually making more money right now I would consider padhacking and making my own stick with the TE's parts. Need a good soldering project to work on ATM.

I did that same shit. I went on an eBay spree and bought 8 DS games, only to buy a Cyclo before the games even arrived. And it's not like I could even return them. :(
