Ol Dirty Dastard 09-03-2023 09:12 AM

Punk reminds me a lot of Don Draper without the alcohol. If you've seen Mad Men and watched Don's triumphs and downfalls I feel like you'd get where I'm coming from. He also sort of looks like Jon Hamm.

Mr. Nerfect 09-03-2023 09:13 AM

I see the Jon Hamm thing, but I’m not familiar with the character’s specifics.

Ben Rodrigues 09-03-2023 09:13 AM

When do we find out who was on the disciplinary committee? Got to have the head of talent relations Christopher Daniels no? Maybe veteran Chris Jericho? Michael Nakazawa? Best referee in the world Aubrey Edwards? Brandon Cutler?

Mr. Nerfect 09-03-2023 09:14 AM

I think Punk is just too wrestling for them. He wants to make it better and sees it as a craft, they want to do whatever they do it and it be called good enough.

Whether or not you think Jack Perry deliberately goaded him on by making a comment during a pre-show match, Punk could’ve just shut the fuck up and ignored what was, at worst, petty bullshit and continued coasting his way to a very well-paid retirement run.

You don’t have to like AEW or Tony Khan but anyone taking the sympathy route for Punk to try to justify the hatred more is hilarious. Punk deserves no sympathy here. This was complete and total self-immolation.

Punk was a troubled child who never grew out of his rebellious phase. In part due to the validation he received for his unprofessional and unhinged behavior over the years. I remember watching his "Best in the World" documentary and cringing so often. He's only grown bitter and insecure with age. It's just sad at this point.

Last time they launched an investigation they didn’t even interview the civilian witness in the room. Saying there’s an investigation is just a way to hide responsibility for what they want to do.

Ol Dirty Dastard 09-03-2023 09:16 AM

Plus, Don and Punk come from similarly broken homes. Hopefully, Punk gets another chance to create magic.

Mr. Nerfect 09-03-2023 09:18 AM

I’m pretty sure he’ll be able to get a job basically anywhere he wants. If he doesn’t end up back in WWE, I think it’ll be because he’s either done with wrestling or wants to pick his spots elsewhere.

Mr. Nerfect 09-03-2023 09:18 AM

Can’t wait for the CM Punk book.

GD 09-03-2023 09:19 AM

I think it's time for Punk to give MMA another shot. Maybe work his way up to the UFC this time around.

It's safe to suggest that nobody at WWE HQ is salivating to have Punk back

A PPV boxing match with Jake Paul sounds lovely.

McLegend 09-03-2023 09:22 AM

I don’t want to watch the TK “promo”, because I feel like it’s going to be really awkward as make me uncomfortable.

I’m also like “man can’t AEW just get their shit together, and turn this into a positive. Pro wrestling is built on stuff like this.”

Then Destor makes this post

Yeah that’s a good point. I got no comeback for that one.

Ben Rodrigues 09-03-2023 09:34 AM

Hmm... not exactly.

Had an issue at work a little bit ago where a group of staff members were deliberating excluding/bullying one of their peers. Eventually this lead to a rather heated confrontation on the floor with the staff member who had been allegedly bullied flipping out and causing a commotion on the floor.

The investigation showed that the group would often make fun of the staff member's weight, would move/hide their belongings, had a chat on work computers that said obscene things about him and deliberately made his life difficult. Ultimately, two were terminated and the others received final warnings.

Just gotta say Ben Rodrigues has been killing it in this thread the past couple days.

JFC where do you work and how old are these people? (Be vague about where you work, but what type of business/company is it?)

Guy, Ben is being respectful and presenting his side of the argument and offering perspective from his experience. Why say shit like this?

#1-norm-fan 09-03-2023 09:51 AM

This feels like one of those “If it isn’t a work, it should have been pitched as one” scenarios. I know it’s damn near impossible to keep secrets in wrestling but we need shit like this.

Isn't the false equivalence not apparent?

Office environment and the people were mid 20's to mid 30's.

Nah, this one was more in response to the statement that someone who goes to work and is involved in fights every time should be fired. Sometimes things arent as they appear.

Not necessarily comparing CM Punk/Elite. I'm sure people who have had/heard of similar things playing out in their own professions.

Oi vey. Insane.

Wrestling is at its best when it doesn’t resemble a normal workplace environment.

Agreed. It's gotta be a little fuckin wild.

That's a fair assessment.

I do hope that Collision doesn’t become Dynamite 2 and I say this as someone who enjoys Dynamite a lot more often than not.

Appreciated both shows having their own unique “vibe”, presentation, different in-ring focuses etc.

Frank Drebin 09-03-2023 10:44 AM

I hope Jungle Boy dives through glass just to show how cool he is and cuts himself Goldberg style.

GD 09-03-2023 10:55 AM

Jungle Boy vs the Invisible Man vs Yoshihiko in a three-way "real glass" match.

I believe a pipe will be involved. Would be sick if in a stunning turn of events, it's a crack pipe and not a pipe bomb. And the explosion results from him free-basing the crack like Richard Pryor.

Lock Jaw 09-03-2023 11:37 AM

He should show up on RAW, throw the AEW "Real World Championship" in the trash and then cut an "aewbad" promo

Lock Jaw 09-03-2023 11:42 AM

Followed by a "fedbad" promo. Then he runs away.

Remember the scene when Dale's dad said how Dale thought he was a Dr because his dad is and it is the family business?

Tiny Khan is Dale

Evil Vito 09-03-2023 11:52 AM

Would be funny if AEW doesn't re-fire Ace Steel and he ends up being yet another guy on Punk's shitlist when he refuses to resign out of solidarity.

xrodmuc316 09-03-2023 11:59 AM

I could honestly see Tiny on the PPV at some point being attacked by Punk from the crowd. It can be their version of Austin/McMahon that Tiny will claim is the biggest storyline in wrestling history and put himself over as having been willing to do so for the fans sake.

You don't spend 9 figures of your daddy's money without wanting to book yourself into the game.
