"Look at you. You're a little bitch.":

How do you continue the Blade franchise without the Day Walker himself?

Step 1: Craft a prequel trilogy.
Step 2: Make the first (and coolest) villain the star (Deacon Frost is back, baby!)
Step 3: Have the first director and co-star return (Norrington and Droff back, baby!)
Step 4: ???
Step 5: Profit.

More news as it comes, but I like the idea of a Deacon Frost story. He's one of my fave villains.

Kalyx triaD 07-07-2009 03:01 AM

Does anybody really want to read these stories in two separate threads?

The Destroyer 07-07-2009 06:43 AM

Yes. I like my DC and Marvel kept apart.

Fignuts 07-07-2009 06:52 AM

YES

I want nothing resembling Marvel/DC amalgam, ever again.

Kalyx triaD 07-07-2009 06:52 AM

Iron Man 2 has finished filming. Let post-prod begin.

Kalyx triaD 08-11-2009 07:07 AM

Hugh Jackman says they're fleshing out the Japan story for Wolverine's sequel right about now, and the production will start sooner rather than later. I'm happy to hear this, as I've enjoyed the first one.

Here's hoping for Silver Samurai, Sunfire, and a proper Psylocke. Why not? I mean continuity isn't their highest priority, might as well give us escort level fan service.

Also:

Seen Iron Man 2's footage from CC. War Machine lives, people. Looks like he's shooting everything that moves.

Wolverine 2:

Liev Schreiber says he's open to returning as Sabretooth in this sequel, and he'd love to see how his version of the character became the more animalistic rendition Tyler Mane gave us in X-Men. [MTV]

Iron Man 2:

Scarlett Johansson hints her character, the Black Widow, could be back in the Avengers movie — and could possibly have her own spin-off film as well, if the fans take to her skintight catsuit. Supposedly ScarJo is signed for several movies.

Jon Kano 08-20-2009 01:14 PM

I would like to see Sabretooth return, but maybe not as a total heel, I mean he really is no match for Wolverine. He fuckin destroyed him in their last proper fight.

ScarJo as a leading role in an action movie? - no thanks. Spend the money on something decent.

Jeritron 08-20-2009 05:01 PM

What's this I hear about Spiderman 4 not actually being official. It's been "confirmed" but I heard from a friend that it came out that Sam Raimi and Tobey McGuire are only attached, and haven't signed on the dotted line yet until they see the script.

I also heard that Sony is deadset on making another Spiderman, and if the deal with them falls through they are going to reboot. Yes, start the Spiderman franchise over from scratch only 7 years after the first one was released (and 2 years since the last one).

Kalyx triaD 08-20-2009 05:07 PM

It's official, tell your friend to fuck off. Raimi, Tobey, Dunst, and JK are all in for 4. They just hired a writer to commission the 5th and 6th entries. If the legacy cast are not interested in 5 and 6 they'll use those scripts as a platform for a reboot (being that 5 and 6 will be connected stories).

Sony got things on lock as far as Spidey goes. He won't be joining the live action Marvel-verse for some time.

Kalyx triaD 08-20-2009 05:08 PM

Fucking hate misinformation. Info is not 3 minutes of searching away.

Jeritron 08-20-2009 05:12 PM

I'm not going to tell him to fuck off because I don't consider myself the Gustapo of comic book movie news

Jeritron 08-20-2009 05:14 PM

Why does misinformation bother you in the world of comic book movies but not world news, nutritional information, or things of substance?

Have you ever eaten a beef taco at Taco Bell? You have probably eaten ground meal worms. Does that bother you more than some kid telling me Spiderman 4 might not be a go?

Lock Jaw 08-20-2009 05:18 PM

SPIDER-MAN IS SERIOUS BUSINESS.

Jeritron 08-20-2009 05:20 PM

By the way, Taco Bell likely doesn't put mealworms in their food. I was joking. That's also just a rumor, but in general we deal with serious misinformation everyday. I threw out the news I heard about Spiderman to hear some feeback on it. That's why I prefaced it with "What's this I hear?" I don't have the desire to find the scoops like you do. This thread is the extent of my Spiderman research

Are you seriously assuming my beef with misinformation is exclusive to comic movies? Support this now.

Also, your Taco Bell scenario makes no sense in this context. Partially because I don't give a damn about meal worms, Chalupas are damn good. And mostly because IT'S TWO DIFFERENT THINGS.

After Spiderman 3, I'm not so sure I would even consider a reboot bad news

Jeritron 08-20-2009 05:31 PM

Even though Spiderman 2 was one of the best comic book movies I've ever seen

Kalyx triaD 08-20-2009 05:33 PM

That would be messed up.

Kalyx triaD 08-20-2009 05:34 PM

A reboot would be fine if Marvel Studios gets Spidey back from Sony. Then he could swing by Iron Man or Captain America. I want X-Men rebooted for the same reason. Cross overs, baby.

Jeritron 08-20-2009 05:40 PM

I'd just like to see Spiderman restored to its glory. The franchise should have paced itself.
Spiderman 3 was extremely bloated, and felt paranoid about being the potential finale. Way too much going on in there, and as a result the movie was way out of whack.

I like the one villian style of 2, with a focus on Peter Parker as a character. That's where it should have gone from movie to movie.

It's funny, because the assets of Spiderman 3 could have easily spanned two or three movies. Instead they threw Sandman out there with no real setup, completely wasted Venom, and underdid the black suit storyline.
And probably the biggest injustice of all, they took the Harry Osborn storyline that was slowly developed over two movies and threw it away.

The reason this is ironic is that now they're making a 4th, and possibly a 5th. What are they going to do? Use The Lizard, or some other vilain and go back to the one villain formula? Its what they should have done in 3 to begin with.
They've exhausted all their assets and existing plotlines.

Jeritron 08-20-2009 05:45 PM

I personally thought they should have fleshed out the Sandman storyline properly, and stuck to that for part 3.
During that time, they could have set up the black suit and explored that for a full movie.

Harry Osborn should have stayed on the backburner, while they subtlely built that creepy vengance plot.

They could have ended part 3 with Parker losing the suit, and Venom getting it. Then part 4 would be able to focus on Parker trying to re-organize his life while Venom is running wild knowing everything about him.

Then you still have Harry Osborn ready to go for a final installment. That would be part 5, but if they were able to go for 6, then Lizard would still be open and setup for 5.

Lock Jaw 08-20-2009 05:53 PM

An Incredible Hulk soft-reboot kinda deal could work. As in, not doing another origin story or anything.

Fignuts 08-20-2009 06:23 PM

To be fair, it wasn't really Raimi's fault that 3 turned out sub par in comparison to the first two. He DID want to focus on one villain, but the marketing machine at marvel studios forced venom on him, and we wound up with that mess. Hopefully they've learned their lesson.

Fignuts 08-20-2009 06:29 PM

What villains do they have left? The Lizard, Mysterio, Electro, Vulture, Kraven. Can't see any of those guys topping sandman, let alone Doc ock. Best superhero movie fight ever was the clocktower/train fight from 2. Mysterio could possibly do it if they get creative with the illusions, but in the end, it's not a real fight. It's all in spidey's head.

Carnage is out of the question, as an unknowing moviegoer would see him as an unoriginal knock off of the previous film's villain.(because he IS an unoriginal knockoff of venom.)

Yeah, honestly, marvel studios kinda fucked over what could have been a great slow build to the sinister six.

Lock Jaw 08-20-2009 06:47 PM

So 4 isn't planned for release for a while?

alvarado52 08-20-2009 07:14 PM

Im not sure i'd like a rebooted Spidey, but i would like for them (by them i mean Raimi) to get off his focus on the love story of MJ and Pete and the Sinister Six villians, and give Venom a nice return, and a proper one at that. I'd like to see the symbiote find its way to another, since they blew Eddie Brock to bits...maybe it finds his father? Eddie snr could be played by someone notably bigger, and more brooding like Vin Diesel (whom i always felt would play a good Venom), and make Venom more alien than clone spidey (by that i mean long tongue, dripping mouth and sharp teeth like an alien from the Alien movies, and all around more like the Venom in the books).

Whaaa? Id say he's more a knockoff of the Joker than Venom, but i could see them doing him right, so long as they tap more into the darker side of the character...after all, the dude was simply a crazed murderer, and the symbiote made it more so. Essentially, to do Carnage justice would be making Spiderman rated R.

Jeritron 08-20-2009 07:52 PM

It will more than likely be Lizard and Black Cat in 4. That's what Raimi wanted for 3 anyways.

He had the same body type, and he was crazy, but not nearly as insane as Joker. They may have tried to implement a few elements of the Joker, but at that time, Venom was HUGE. Way more popular than the joker, and carnage was their attempt to milk more money out of it.

Those movies were so lame, this is the best they can hope for.

Too many stupid unnecessary little changes. They felt like one of those crappy superhero kids movies that aren't based on any source material in particular, tbh. Meteor Man, Zoom, etc. God awful shit that was little more than a merchandising juggernaut.

Jeritron 09-02-2009 11:59 AM

They were awful. The cast was a mixed bag. I thought Michael Chiklis and Chris Evans were acceptable casting jobs, but the other two and Dr. Doom were awful.

In any event, it's too late now and they should start from scratch, or not at all. Fantastic Four strikes me as the type of comic book that just isn't fit for the transition to the screen. I'd like to be wrong though. I loved Fantastic Four growing up

Anyway, it'd just be better if they gave up on the Fantastic Four as a movie franchise. They had their chance and botched it. Should have done it like Iron Man: adapted for films, but still true to the source material.

Kalyx triaD 09-02-2009 06:12 PM

Iron Man was good, but not really source material accurate. We're not gonna get the Ten Rings of Power.

Source material accurate doesn't mean every little thing has to be accurate. You can still have the ten rings of power, but have them be technology based instead of magic. That would be a small change as opposed to making Dr. Doom a conniving buisnessman, instead of a fearsome, oppressing dictator.
