Owen pretty much signs for Madrid. Liverpool getting some Nunez guy. No mention of Morientes.
|
Liverpool are getting mugged off big time.
|
True but what are they going to do? It seems pretty clear that he's made up his mind now, if they don't take what's on offer they'll get nothing when he sits out the final year of his deal.
Having said that, it is sort of karma for how ridiculously cheap they signed Kewell from Leeds for. |
Everyone went on about how Beckham would flop in Madrid and how playing alongside the likes of Zidane and Figo would show him up to be an ordinary player.
I reckon Owen will flop in Madrid :$ Aslong as they dont start playing him in a different position or something like they did with Beckham so he ends up playing shite for England. I don't care. It could be good for England. |
Owen is piss poor now without his pace anyway.

Christ, be more 1-1 draws, just stuck £1 on the Boro Vs Newcastle being 1-1 at 11-2

Still only one team in Bristol.
Junior Agogo = the man. |

I was surprised to see Owen was transferred, he doesn't seem like he would fit in la liga. Meh.
|
They have Ronaldo, Morientes and Raul, buying Owen was in everyway pointless.
|
How many midfielders do Chelsea have these days?
Ultimately Liverpool got a good deal. Owen is streaky. Sure he'll score 5 in 6 games but then he'll get injured or go 10 games without a goal. He's pretty money-obsessed. Liverpool lost McManaman on a free so why run the risk of it happening again? It was clear that he wasn't going to sign a new contract. |
Nine and a half.
Robben, Duff, Lampard, Cole, Parker, Geremi, Makelele, Smertin, Tiago I suppose Glenn Johnson can be classed as one as he plays there quite often. |

Real needed Veira so much more, still lacking a solid defensive midfielder since Makalele went.
|
I'm so bloody stoked, "Real always get their man", ay?
. There were no scenes like this at the Bernabeu last season: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...addyupload.jpg |

Have to make a point in saying how great the new Football First option on Sky Sports is. Match of the Day was just as awful as it was when the Beeb last had it.
|
He left? When? :wtf: :$
And yeah MotD is still pretty shite when it comes down to it. At least they're laying on an additional Sunday program instead of just making people wait until the next Saturday lunchtime to see 30 seconds of the rest of the weekend's games. Also, why did ITV have to put the Championship main program on so early on a Sunday morning?  |
Christ, I wish Steve Bruce didn't moan so much. Not only is it really annoying, but his voice does my head in :$

1-4 to Arsenal against Everton.

Chelsea 1-0 up against Manchester Untied.

Owen at United? No fucking chance! *shudders at the thought* |
You wouldn't take Owen? Are you nuts?
|
he's piss poor
|
I wouldn't take Owen. Not over Ruud or Louis Saha. I would take Morientes over Owen any day.
Decent enough performance by United considering we barely had any players. Like Fergie said it will take until about October to see the real Man U when we have Ronaldo, Ruud, Saha and Rio back. |
Oh yeah and Heinze will be back from the Olympics
|
I have to agree with Rob herre, Owen would be more then loved at United :y:
Woooo, on the plus side we won, on the bad side Eidur Gudfuckingjohnsen scored the goal , the fat shit didnt do anything else all match, yet again he was afraid to jump for anything, and one time when he lost it he ran to get it back, other then that he looked like the bloated dickhead he was last season. On the plus side Alexei Smertin is the man , he is only the second player (Zola being the first Vs Everton April 2003) who the Chelsea fans have given a standing ovation to after doing something good on the park, cannot fault the guy, if he plays like that all season he will be great. How Terry got man of the match is beyond me, Smertin was the fucking man, my Man Of The Match by a mile. All I could hear from people around me was stuff like "Smertin is quality" and stuff. |
Anyone see the Japan-Italy football game in the Olympics? It finished 2-3. Goals were quality, so was the match.
|
Yes Yes Yes, Robert Huth has been called up to the full germany squad because Nowotny is injured,
|
yeah Smertin is a legend and we taught him everything he knows  I wish you'd kept Ranieri instead of your dickhead manager who picks players based on ability instead of reputation so we could have kept Smerts and you could have kept wasters like Crespo
But i hope he does well for you because he was a big part of the reason we stayed up and he is THE MAN :'( Also, Arsenal are reporting Real to FIFA for "destablising" Vieira while he was under contract because "the rules are there to be respected." Didn't hear them harping on about that when they did the exact same thing to ruin our deal with Michael Carrick. Dickheads. |
Quote:
Missed it on Sunday thankfully, damn Canadians and their long throws  Do you happen to know if all your injured forwards are back within 2 weeks? :shifty: :$ |
Ganea is out for months. Cort played a full 90 minutes the other day though so hopefully he'll be back :naughty:
|
Fair deal for Owen I reckon all talk of 10mil plus Morientes would have been absolutely stupid on Real's part considering they could wait around and get him for free.
Owen is pretty poor these days too as Mask puts so eloquently so yeah not bad - plus means Newcastle should beat Liverpool this season I reckon. Smertin looks like good shit. Reyes looks fantabulous. God have mercy on the next team to play Arsenal. And fuck off Hasselbaink  |

im going for a 4 -1 victory, well thats what they beat us by just about every year so why should this one be any different, because we have someone who can put the ball in the back of the net thats why it'll be different. real score 2 - 1 to the boro and jimmy f-h will get them both! by the way i was in spain in a pub packed with gordies when jimmy 'Headed' the goal in the last minute, they were gutted and i loved every second of it! |
I want Arsenal to win so they can go on to get that record unbeaten streak, take it off Forest
|
Can't see Boro getting anything, even if Southgate is back him and Ehiiogu have lost a yard of pace or so and they weren't exactly speedy to begin with...Henry and Reyes should tear them apart :o
|
Jose Antonio Reyes

|
I dunno, Mark Viduka and all :o.
|
He managed to keep Leeds up season before last
By beating us :'( |
Isn't he suspended?
|
Nah Viduka is injured.
|
I thought he was out suspended for a while after getting sent off a couple of times for Leeds at the end of last season.
He was definitely suspended against Newcastle. |
I am sure that they said he was injured that day, that is definitley what I heard.
|
I know he was definitely sent off more than once towards the end of last season. He got sent off for two yellows against Leicester, then he got himself sent off again after that.
Did he get sent off in the final match? Or maybe he was suspended for it? Either way, he had a suspension coming into this season of 2 or 3 games. |
When he got sent off against Bolton, they said that the suspension would come into effect 2 weeks after getting the red card, and that Leeds' final game of the season was 13 days later.
So he wasn't suspended for the last game of last season I'm pretty sure, but does it carry over into this season? I'm not sure of the ins and outs :o |
Yes it does.
|
Quote:

The FA website has Viduka as starting the season with a 2 game ban carried over
http://www.thefa.com/TheFA/Disciplin...r_SuspList.htm |
He didn't exactly do much last season anyway
|
viduka is suspended and will be back for the game after.
i think we will be up for it as parlour will want to win and they might be a bit nevous and gittery going for the record (hopefully) |

Round of applause for Antonio Nunez, and his fantastic snapping knee
|
:o!!!
Any predictions for tonight? I'm thinking it might be a bit of a dull low or even no-score draw :$ |
yeah I reckon 1-1.
|
Well I would have gone for some boredraw too.
But turns out it was a very very good performance. Shaun Wright Phillips is the man. Beckham looked quality again and Gerrard is definitely world class. And ha at Dyer being booed - cocky shit. Felt it went on a bit too long - make your opinion clear but don't boo him at every touch for the majority of the half. He deserves whatever he gets though. |
Quote:
But hasn't done anything since :$ |
Yeah a good performance. Wright-Phillips took his goal well, Ian Wright was going mental
I dont get why Jenas or Glen Johnson played though. Johnson may be good but he hasn't featured yet for Chelsea and he didn't feature that much for them last season. And Jenas is just cack. :o |
Quote:
he got booked and sent off a few times last season as to me he looked as though he was up for the relegation fight but took it to far with his last sending off for i think was a 2 footed challenge. his other sending off towards end of last season was for using his elbow when going for a header (i think) which everyone does, and seeing the replys there wasnt any intention as his eyes were on the ball all the way. (look at big dunc furgerson for example of someone who looks where player is, uses elbow then looks at ball as has done this plenty of times in past). im not defending viduka for being sent off as if he hadnt he could have given leeds more help in staying up, however saying he didnt do anything last year, wasnt he top scorer or one of top scorers for them with something like 11 goals ?? |
I'm pretty sure he scored more than Smith, but he was the villain because he got sent off twice when Leeds really needed him there
|
Quote:
Lets not forget he also seemed like a lazy bastard when he did play most of the times moping around when things don't go his way, only JFH is a worse sulker. Then he got suspended. |
Quote:
And Jenas isn't cack :( he just isn't spectacular. :o |
Good performance really, no-one really had a bad game.
hahaha @ Dyer, could be off to Birmingham on loan now but that would be pointless, cause he'd only be on the right there, what with them having the midfield of our glory years sans Lennon. |
Quote:
|
I didn't say JFH was a bad player i said he was a sulker. He can be near world class if he puts effort into it its just when things don't go his way he doesn't really dig in and make things happen himself he just wanders off in a sulk.
Viduka is the same except a worse player. |
Quote:
also jenas isnt cack, he has a quality first touch, the only trouble is that his second touch always ends up being a slide tackle to try and win the ball back |
Quote:
if they want to sulk, mclaren wont have it, he's proved this with juninho and danny mills. juno wants to be in the team which is fair play and id have him in the team everytime. however mclaren feels different. juno went in a sulk realised it wouldnt help and eventually faught his way back into the team (until mclaren decided he doesnt want him anymore) if JFH & viduka take that attitude and fight for place they'll be fine but if they just sulk they will get dropped. danny mills didnt get the wages he wanted so sulked by playing badly over last 10 games, mclarens responce bye bye and bought reiziger instead. |
Mills is a cunt
Carrick is apparently in or set for talks with Spurs...dunno, would Spurs over Pompey really be that good of a decision? :wtf: Real have bid £14m for Woodgate :| Given how much he has been and still is injured Newcastle should probably rip their arm off. |
Quote:
i heard a roumour that marcilino played more games for newcastle than woodgate has, can anyone confirm this? |
Mills is a tosser and shit.
Phil Neville is ugly and shit. Gary Neville is ugly but consistant and should be first choice I guess. Enter Johnson in second place. |
Quote:
Torn on Woodgate - best defender by an absolute mile but his fitness is even worse than Craig Bellamy's (though its a close race) If we get 14mil I guess thats a good deal. |
Quite funny when Dyer got booed. The arrogant twat.
|
Crap Scotland score. 3-0 to bloody Hungary. Vogts has to go!
|
Quote:
The guy was the assistant coach when Germany won the World Cup and the manager when they won Euro 96. He also won both as a player. In short, he won more than the whole Scotland team put together. His managerial credentials are second to none. I watch all our games and want us to be as good as we can and it's clear as day that the players are letting us down. Gary Naysmith even admits it. Only Quashie and Fletcher played decent last night (Naysmith tried his best as usual but wasn't his night). The rest where pure pish. All Vogts can do is give instructions. If the players can't perform then that's there own fault. Nobody was knocking Vogts against Germany or Holland (the first game I mean obviously). |
To be fair one goal was a penalty, another was a GREAT goal and the other was quite unlucky.
I think Charlie Nicholas (the man) and Andy Gray were right afterwards though when they said Scotland should aim to be like Greece and be hard to beat. Because watching the match, there didn't seem to be a whole lot of flair or quality. The two Pompey players that play for Scotland, Quashie and Hughes are both hardworking unspectacular players that will win the ball and pass it. Play to your strengths i suppose. |
Under Vogts Scotland have gotten worse. At least when Brown was in charge we were a difficult team to beat. We weren't a great footballing team but we were hard to break down. I have thought that Vogts should have gone for ages. I know he hasn't got the greatest bunch of playerws to workl with (besides Fletcher, McFadden and a few others) but neither have Northern Ireland and even they are being moulded into a difficult team to play against. I give Vogts a few games into the World Cup campaign but I seriously doubt we will get anywhere with Vogts around.

Quote:
As for Northern Ireland, they went 12 games without scoring a freaking goal! They are nowhere near our league and that's saying something considering how sh</>ite we are. At the end of the day, under Vogts, how many competitive games have we lost? Three. An extremely dodgy penalty (aka homer decision) in Lithuania, narrow defeat to Germany (world cup finalists) and a beating from Holland who we beat 4 days before. Hardly that embarrassing is it? |
Quote:

LUIS GARCIA
XABI ALONSO  |
Hey Rob Vogts should have gone a long time ago. We have absolutely no width and no organisation. His competitive record is the following although I can't remember the order of games:
2 - 2 vs Faroe Islands 2 - 0 win vs Iceland 1 - 0 loss vs Lithuania 1 - 0 win vs Lithuania 3 - 1 win vs Faroe Islands 2 - 1 win vs Iceland 1 - 1 draw vs Germany 2 - 1 loss vs Germany 1 - 0 win vs Holland 6 - 0 loss vs Holland So narrow victories against Lithuania and Iceland. Draws and defeats to Faroe Islands and Lithuania which aren't good enough. A victory against Holland but we were insanely lucky. With Vogts in charge Scotland lack spirit, directiona nd any sense of organisation. Tell me when Craig Brown was in charge how often did we get beat 3-0 or 4-0 by mediocre teams like Hungary. The people who said we should aim to be like Greece are right. Not in terms of their success because that just isn't happening Greece are proof that with a bit of simple organisation teams can be hard to beat. I also don't believe that Vogts is the best motivater in the world. Basically he should have gone a long time ago and with him at the helm we are going to really struggle in the World Cup qualifiers. |
But then again if you are happy with a shambolic team who have no organisation and get easily get beaten by Hungary, Romania and Austria then that's up to you.
|
I think the point is that Scotland would struggle in the qualifiers even if jesus was in charge of them.
|
bertie bassett could do a better job than berti vogts.
the scottish FA should do 3 things: 1. sack vogts 2. get Martin O'Neil or Souness to do the job part time. 3. put a limit of 5 forginers only allowed in any scottish league team at any 1 time ( as same in england they are stopping the youngsters coming through) |
A part time national manager would not work.
Scotland already has a rule which states that a certain number of players in each squad must be under 21. |
Quote:
either one of them or maybe even david moyles at everton, i think he would do a good job. also i think rather than a limit on players aged 21 the rule of only 5 forginers (i.e english people aswell in that catagory) would work better as it will mean more scottish players given a chance and match experience! but what do i care im english bertie keep up the good work :) |
Gordon Strachan is definetly the man for the job. He took a by no means great Southampton team who regularly faced a relegation battle each year and turned them into a strong team because he motivated the players and could organise the team.
|
Quote:
|
I have a feeling that Strachan may be tempted to go back to SOuthampton as well. Imagine the reaction of fans if Hoddle returned.
|
Quote:
And I think what RBF meant by the Greece thing is that before the championships none of their players were well known or meant to be that good, they always played against teams better them then, but because of the way they play as a team they won the games. Without their manager they would never have won it, they would have been out in no time like usual, but the manager used the players he had to their fullest and look what happened. Thats what I think RBF meant anyway, either that or he meant by having a German manager :shifty: |
Woodgate has signed for Real for £14m
Ricardo Fuller has signed a 2 year deal with Pompey on a pay-per-play basis Andy Van Der Meyde has said there's no way he'll sign for Everton ( ) Diego Forlan is set to be sold to Villarreal |
Norwich has signed Doherty from Spurs too.
I am kinda suprised as I thought Doherty was pretty good. |
Dazz, Gary Doherty is absolutely fucking shite.
I can only assume you have NEVER seen him play. |
I have seen him play occasionally, personally I think that the main person Spurs should get rid of is Tarrico, there is no one worse then that cunt.
I think they should have kept Doherty and Carr ahead of him. Having said that Doherty seems to be better in attack. |
Doesn't that leave Newcastle kind of screwed in terms of defenders. Bramble's crap and Huth isn't anything special either. Paper said they were looking at him as Woodgate's replacement.
|
Quote:
Every time he lines out for Ireland I cringe. Against Bulgaria on Wednesday night, a friendly played at walking pace, he still managed to make a mistake every other time the ball came in his direction. Almost cost a goal in the first minute. Luckily Kenny Cunningham is the man. Steve Carr wanted out of Spurs and was refusing to sign a new contract. And Newcastle have Aaron Hughes and Andy O'Brien, which is a pretty decent central defensive partnership. With the money they got for Woodgate too, they can get a defender who actually plays more than a quarter of the games Newcastle have. |
