Mother fuck is Stroman ever sick. If the Jays actually show patience and not deall the farm, their rotation is going to be sick.

Stroman
Sanchez
Norris

unless it isn't. I'm not sure if I want Lester for a 2 month rental..hmph

Droford 07-31-2014 09:53 AM

Lester traded to Oakland for..

Cespedes?!?

lol

screech 07-31-2014 10:13 AM

what

Evil Vito 07-31-2014 10:22 AM

A's get: Jon Lester, Jonny Gomes
Red Sox get: Yoenis Cespedes

WOW. Gonna be funny when Lester signs back with Boston in the off-season.

ClockShot 07-31-2014 10:31 AM

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAA?

Well, Cespedes got 1 more year before he hits free agency. However, since Boston probably won't be doing any big money contracts for a while, I'll assume he walk. I'll laugh if Beane somehow retains Lester. Oakland got a quality pitching staff going right now.

road doggy dogg 07-31-2014 10:50 AM

There was no way Oakland was going to keep Cespedes either when he becomes a FA.

That being said, pitching wasn't exactly holding them back. Wild trade.

The Gold Standard 07-31-2014 11:15 AM

Great trade for Red Sox. No way Lester stays in OAK. This allows Boston to resign Lester in the offseason.

ClockShot 07-31-2014 11:48 AM

A's acquire Sam Fuld from the Twins for Tommy Milone.

Beane ain't playing around today.

road doggy dogg 07-31-2014 01:21 PM

Boston shipping out Lackey to the Cardinals for Allen Craig and Joe Kelly

Evil Vito 07-31-2014 01:45 PM

Sounds like the Mets are going to be sitting on their hands at the deadline. Again.

Yeah they're 4 games under .500 but they're still in striking distance with the Wild Card and even the division. They're 15-10 through July with amazing pitching and a lineup playing far better than it was in April and May.

Just annoying. I don't expect a superstar or anything but a guy like Alex Rios, Asdrubal Cabrera, or Josh Willingham can at least give them a little something extra without costing the Mets a major prospect. I think it ultimately comes down to the owners being broke even though they don't want to admit it publicly.

road doggy dogg 07-31-2014 01:52 PM

Sounds like Rios may go to the Giants

Evil Vito 07-31-2014 02:02 PM

An insider on MLB Network just guaranteed that Price is traded by 4 PM. Mariners or Pirates.

If they can get a haul then I guess it's worth it, still kinda shocking to see them give up on the season while they've been red hot.

Droford 07-31-2014 02:18 PM

I'm kind of annoyed the o's are the only team in first place that hasn't made a move yet, but they're also in the division with two of the big teams essentially throwing in the towel for this season. plus the blue jays haven't made a big move and the Yankees big moves so far are negligible anyway..

DaveWadding 07-31-2014 02:20 PM

Good bye Geraldo Parra :-(

road doggy dogg 07-31-2014 03:11 PM

Wait.....what?

Droford 07-31-2014 05:01 PM

The Rays didn't nearly get what I thought they would for Price. Nick Franklin, Drew Smyly and an 18 year old SS prospect..

Emperor Smeat 07-31-2014 05:07 PM

Not sure how I feel about the Lester trade. Not confident the Red Sox will get him back in the offseason but the trade does help their hitting woes.

Shame Lackey got traded since I liked how much he improved the past two seasons. At times this season, he was better than Lester.

Ms got Austin Jackson. Rays got Nick Franklin, Drew Smyly and the Tigers 30th best prospect apparently. Pretty weak trade for the Rays. Seemed like they could have gotten a ton more.

Dragon 07-31-2014 05:17 PM

Tigers rotation is absurd -

Scherzer-Price-Sanchez-Verlander-Porcello

Dragon 07-31-2014 05:17 PM

Yankees also traded for Martin Prado.

Evil Vito 07-31-2014 05:38 PM

The Rays made one of the worst trades in the history of baseball. Jesus. They'd have gotten more just letting Price walk and getting the draft compensation.

Droford 07-31-2014 05:42 PM

lol..the Yankees owed Brian Roberts a $250k bonus if he got 350 plate appearances. they pulled him early a couple games ago and sat him out the last 2 leaving him at 348 plate appearances before they dfa'ed him.

ClockShot 07-31-2014 08:25 PM

Stephen Drew?

Is he supposed to be Derek Jeter Jr. or something? Oh, wait. He's playing 2B.

Ichiro is on his way out with Prado in the mix now.

ClockShot 07-31-2014 08:35 PM

Prado is under team control until 2016. I'm cool with this. It ain't a rental.

Damian Rey 07-31-2014 08:47 PM

They also gave up next to nothing to get him after reports stated the DBacks weren't looking to move him.

The Rays got fucking hosed. Good christ. For all the good they did in raping the Royals for Myers, they did the exact opposite in dealing Price. Smyly is solid, and Franklin might be a decent starter, but you just gave away a top 10 starter in baseball and you didn't get back not one potential stud. Sheesh.

road doggy dogg 07-31-2014 08:54 PM

Ya giving up Smyly and Ajax for Price, I'll take that trade 100 times out of 100.

Damian Rey 07-31-2014 09:14 PM

Oh yeah, forgot about Jackson going to the M's. Good pickup for them. Better than what they have. They also took Denorfia from the Padres. When going well, Deno is killer agains lefties.

road doggy dogg 07-31-2014 09:33 PM

Haha this is awesome. Right after the Tigers made the Price trade, Dave Dombrowski (Tigers GM) texted BIlly Beane (A's GM), "You have one minute to acquire Chris Sale"

Love reading stuff like that

Droford 07-31-2014 10:52 PM

something to be said about a 0-0 game in the 12th..ugh

Bad News Gertner 07-31-2014 11:15 PM

Lol Nolan Reimold with two jacks. Jays keep winning with surprise performances.

So glad they kept Sanchez and Stroman. If you haven't seen 5"8 Marcus Stroman pitch, you're in for a treat. He's been unhittable.

road doggy dogg 07-31-2014 11:25 PM

I was in Houston earlier this week and had the chance to catch an Astros game. Had tickets right on 1B line, 3 rows up. Seeing Altuve in person was hilarious. He's so tiny.

Sepholio 08-01-2014 02:10 AM

Braves get Bonifacio, Russell, and some loot from the Cubs for a minor league catcher prospect. Good trade for the Braves, I guess.

Have to wait til after next season for them to do anything decent I guess as we are still stuck paying Dan Uggla 13 million/year to sit at home unemployed. That bastard.

Nicky Fives 08-01-2014 10:31 AM

Yeah, like do you want to deal Stroman and Sanchez for a rental who will more than likely not resign? It's ridiculous.

I'm all for just dumping Colby Rasmus at this point.

Jim Thome signed a 1-day contract with the Indians and calls it a career.

22 seasons, 612 homers, feared hitter, clean.

I think he'll get into the hall of fame without a problem. Only thing that'll hold him back is no world series titles.

Him being in the roids era is going to be the bigger problem but won't in the end. 500-600 HRs usually guarantees a spot in the Hall and wasn't tainted by the roids debate during his career.

2012. They won today to the first time in team history 1-0 on a leadoff hr.

the offense is fucking putrid right now, hitting about .190 in July/August and yet by the power of their pitching they're 19-9 in that stretch and are back up 3.5 on Toronto with a huge series in Toronto coming up this week.

ClockShot 08-05-2014 05:43 PM

Busy news day.

Nats acquire Matt Thornton from the Yankees. Who/what New York is getting in exchange is unknown at this time.

The search for Bud Selig's successor has been narrowed down to 3. MLB chief operating officer Rob Manfred, MLB vice president of business Tim Bronson and Red Sox chairman Tom Werner. Voting goes down at next week's owners quarterly meetings.

Finally, 1-year to the day, feds do another round of arrests in the Biogenesis scandal. With Tony Bosch surrendering to the feds today. Word going around is that there are more players involved than originally thought and there could be more suspensions coming down in the near future.

At least 5 new players were discovered by the Feds although names weren't released yet. The biggest surprise was those players weren't tied to the clinic but to A-Rod and his cousin.

Man...as much as I would love for the Mets to have a bat the quality of Tulo or even CarGo in their lineup, it's becoming more and more apparent that neither guy is worth the 2-3 top prospects it would take to land them. They are made of glass.

Evil Vito 08-14-2014 09:18 AM

Actually with both of the Colorado guys off of the table, the Marlins trying to extend Stanton, and the Cubs (justifiably) asking for the moon for Castro or any of their top hitting prospects, I'm having my doubts that the Mets will be getting the big time bat they need this offseason.

They're pretty much gonna pin the 2015 season on hoping Wright bounces back from his poor season, d'Arnaud and Duda play like they have the past month and a half, and Murphy has another All Star season. That's a lot of ifs for a division that should still feature really good Nats and Braves teams and a Marlins team that is ready to be a serious playoff threat. :-\
