So apparently Natalya said she has the most victories by submission in WWE history. She even brought up how Bret won a lot of matches by pinfall, which is why she has more.

That cannot be true can it? Nobody has more submission wins in WWE history than Nattie???

I could easily believe it. She's been around for like 15 years or so and consistently used the Sharpshooter as a finisher in that time. Even without counting house shows I wouldn't doubt her as #1.

I wouldn't be surprised if you told me she had the most wins ever, period. She wrestled at every house show foreeeevvvveeerrrrr.

Bad News Gertner 10-19-2023 10:08 PM

Bret didn't use it while he was in the Hart Foundation besides that weird singles run he had in 88, he was only wrestling as a singles from 92-97 and he took a bit of time off in 96

Lock Jaw 10-19-2023 10:12 PM

Yeah, as far as WWE rasslers who extensively used submission finishers, Nattie has pretty much eclipsed all their WWE careers in terms of length.

Whoa! Bret used it back then? I thought the only one who used it was Ronnie Garvin and Ted DiBiase.

Bad News Gertner 10-20-2023 07:48 AM

I could have sworn I saw him use it at some T.V or House Show matches.

Now I'm going to obsessively comb youtube because I can't help myself.

I know he was using a piledriver or a backbreaker from like 84-87

Bad News Gertner 10-20-2023 07:55 AM

Wait, nevermind. Didn't Bret say Konann taught him the Sharpshooter. It couldn't be 1988 then.

They should just hand the company over to Rich Fortune and Sudistic to manage. Total Sudistic Wrestling. Has a ring to it.

No one calls it impact. Itll always be TNA

They should actually rebrand to TNA but now its not total nonstop action but instead Tits and Ass Wrestling.

Evil Vito 10-24-2023 09:14 PM

Let’s say Tommy Dreamer actually did hop the barricade and shoot and kill Paul Heyman live at WrestleMania 17.

This wouldn’t be an Owen situation where Vince could force the show to go on, surely the authorities would’ve shut it down because it’s an actual crime scene.

So the biggest/most successful PPV of all time never finishes and is permanently tainted by a tragedy. What, if any, long-term impact does this have on the business?

This is probably the biggest one. Lesnar isn't half as interesting (and I never thought that highly of him to begin with) as when he had Heyman doing all of his talking for him. Could they have picked someone else? Sure, but the number of people Brock actually likes being around can be counted on one hand.

CM Punk probably wouldve never got called up let alone pushed. It was Heyman who wanted him for ECW. OVW wasnt high on him and likely never would have recommended him. And it was Heyman politicking for him that got him pushed before he was established.

Brock without Heyman feels almost unimaginable. With his look/talent/athleticism surely he still would've been a big deal no matter what but Heyman was a massive part of the presentation.

Probably right on Stone Cold as well. He's said repeatedly that even in the heat of the moment he was reading the room and tempted to call an audible and just stun Vince anyway. I'd assume they would've figured a way to finish the PPV on another night or something and maybe by then he'd have managed to talk Vince out of making that call.

This is a good one. I wonder if he even gets signed at all really, Heyman already had the book at OVW when he initially came in.

It's tough for me to a imagine that Punk wouldn't have eventually gotten some sort of WWE look by 2009/2010 or so when they were signing almost every notable ROH dude and he would've eventually had guys like Danielson vouching for him, but without Heyman he might've burned bridges quickly and never went anywhere.

YEAH!

I said something about THE RYBACK that also applies to L.A. Knight (YEAH!)

If you are gonna rip someone off, it is best to rip off someone who is a draw.

The actual wrestling part of wrestling is the least important part of wrestling. A charismatic guy who isn't a complete klutz in the ring will make a promoter more money than a guy who can "wrestle good."

Source: last 40 years of wrestling.

Mr. Nerfect 11-01-2023 12:42 PM

LA Knight isn’t even bad in the ring. It’s more important to understand why you’re doing things than doing a lot of things.

I was wrong about him when he was basically my least favorite wrestler ever during his TNA days. I thought I was judging what I saw from him fairly, but his NWA and WWE work have changed my mind.

Big Vic 11-01-2023 02:37 PM

I don't watch anymore so the wrestling doesn't matter to me I just saw a few clips with Miz and haven't really understood the draw.

All the men’s matches at Crown Jewel are singles. That’s 2 shows in a row they’ve done a really “imbalanced” card. I guess they have Survivor Series round the corner which could be mostly team matches but I prefer a decent variety of match types on any given card.

The answer, of course, is "rubbing your inner thigh, as you do. moving closer to your panties."

Big Vic 11-06-2023 08:47 AM

Did Vince say that to Triple H or vice versa?

That was an SRS quote.

Go CyNick, go! He’s probably not wrong if it’s about what I think it’s about.

Fignuts 11-06-2023 01:18 PM

Giulia apparently expected at the PC this month though there's been no official signings.

Mr. Nerfect 11-06-2023 01:45 PM

I don’t follow joshi, but from what I know Giulia leaving Stardom will be a big deal for them.

Mr. Nerfect 11-06-2023 01:48 PM

The NWA may have already blown their CW Network TV deal. Something to do with Jim Mitchell snorting coke on NWA programming (I don’t fucking know).

XL 11-06-2023 03:50 PM

What’s to know?

They cut to James Mitchell in a sort of bar environment snorting coke on their programming and for some reason the CW are having second thoughts.

Mr. Nerfect 11-06-2023 04:24 PM

Lol, what’s to know? Why the fucking promotion would do something that stupid.

Mr. Nerfect 11-06-2023 04:24 PM

It’s ridiculous.

Lock Jaw 11-06-2023 10:06 PM

Random thought: more jocks need to become professional rasslers and less nerds

If you are gonna rip someone off, it is best to rip off someone who is a draw.

The actual wrestling part of wrestling is the least important part of wrestling. A charismatic guy who isn't a complete klutz in the ring will make a promoter more money than a guy who can "wrestle good."

Source: last 40 years of wrestling.

The biggest problem here is that people treat this as an either/or thing: be it the promotions or the talents themselves. And, of course, one of the biggest persuaders of the trend is WWE. Not even a "fedbad" argument, but just how they hard-headely spearheaded style over substance. It made more sense when Vince took over from his dad and took the biggest metaphorical "sizzles" from just about every promotion he could to put together a locker room full of almost nothing but guys with tremendous personality all their own. The problems came from when they started either:

a) trying to prepackage or repackage people into cartoons. Everyone remembers the hits like Undertaker, but forgets Duke "The Dumpster" or Issac Yankem DDS in general (unless they're doing some sort of retrospective about Kane specifically and not the gimmick and timeframe)

b) hire people who merely "look the shit" and hoping that stuff like the wrestling, gimmicks, and promos just happen along the way. Especially since, over the same amount of time, the people who are tall bodybuilders ain't really built for or into this shit, and the people into this shit aren't tall bodybuilders.

So, you get to a guy like Eli Drake/LA Knight (or like the 3 other names he had in either developmental or on the main roster over time), and, for the most part, he had "star" written all over him, but he wasn't as tall as guys like Baron Corbin. So, he was minimized, embarassed, run off, let go in housecleaning sessions because there was "nothing for him" or any of a myriad of excuses. I will point out again that this is the same company that was going to release CM Punk from his developmental contract because they weren't signing him as much as the indy buzz, and didn't want anyone else getting that buzz at the time even though they themselves had zero plans for him. The same company that was going to release John Cena because Vince "didn't see it" in him. Was ready to relegate Steve Austin to "a good hand" and have him job every week (pre KotR)... but was ready to give guys like Sid or Luger or Ahmed Johnson "the boots" - as in make them the newer version of Hogan - to be positioned as the company figurehead.

I was wrong about him when he was basically my least favorite wrestler ever during his TNA days. I thought I was judging what I saw from him fairly, but his NWA and WWE work have changed my mind.

I feel you about his TNA stuff. It felt like he was leaning way too hard into aping The Rock in a company that already tried to do exactly that years earlier with Sonny Siaki. So, he felt like a ripoff of a ripoff. Took awhile to find his own voice, as it were. But when he did, he became a lot more tolerable.

Mr. Nerfect 11-07-2023 01:09 PM

Yeah, way more of him seems authentic now.

Mr. Nerfect 11-07-2023 01:10 PM

“Authentic” is probably the wrong word. But the Eli Drake/LA Knight character is its own living, breathing thing now.

Mr. Nerfect 11-07-2023 03:18 PM

It looks like NXT will be going to the CW Network.

Mr. Nerfect 11-07-2023 10:08 PM

Yep, it’s official. 5 yr deal, 70% increase in rights fees starting Oct 24.
