Not to say those pitchers used PEds, but it would be naive to think that during the steroid era there were good pitchers that declined to be great by avoiding the stuff.

Biggie is a class act and a hell of a player. But he never won anything, barely sniffed being top 5 at his position many years of his career. A lot of writers want years of dominance where biggio was always just good.
Big Hurt was a multiple time MVP and the most feared hitter in te mid 90s. Maddux will be first ballot. I think they also have their own code on first ballot players where they will hold a guy back a year saving first ballot status for guys who are on their own level. Like I remember gammons saying piazza is a sure fire hall of gamer but not a first ballot guy...which blows my mind. Baseball voters have that stupid code. |
