I want Heroes for Hire....

Spiderman - Homecoming - really good. But please stop with changing their races. There is no way a black guy would be called Herman Schultz.
|
So they change the last name.
There's no stopping them. |
Oh come on, that's a name for a SS officer, not a black dude.
|
I'm binging Once Upon A Time and Merlin is black. I just don't care anymore.
|
Fair enough.
|
Ha, Punisher now has a car with a huge skull on the hood. A t-shirt is one thing, but if you're wanted for like 635656 murders you might want to keep a lower profile.
Yeah, I know it's just comics, made me giggle nonetheless. |
Go back to the pedovan, man.

Marvel currently working on a new X-Men comic series that is going to be a retelling of the entire 30 year history of the group.

|
Whatever at this point.
|
Six issues over three years to tell a very convoluted team history?
|
All the history will be retconned by the time the last issue comes out.
|
2 issues a year...or?
|
Yeah about two issues each year covering one arc.
Seems its going to be a small gap between the two issues based on plans for the first arch and then a long wait till the next set starts. |
Marvel will not be above changing the original team.
|
ABC rumored to be canceling Inhumans after a single season.
Basis for the speculation involves current marketing for the series suggesting ABC won't be ordering future seasons. Quote:

Well... Now they know to tell a contained story.
|
I thinK with Domino shes going to have vitaligo to explain her skin. Patch on eye is the beginning stages.
I had so much hope for Evil Capt. America as someone who hated everything about him this was a welcome change but Secret Empire sucks balls its all over the fucking place and not in a good way. Im just gonna quit and start reading METAL. |
Heard a lot of bad things abut Secret Empire although I only have read up to issue 4 at the moment. Punisher working for Hydra and the cosmic cube memory stuff is the worst so far.
|
I'll just say this if you do like Capt America when his part comes to a head it will piss you off
|
Explain it to me, using spoiler tags if you want to be nice

Once again:
Marvel does stunts for headlines and self congratulated press releases. They do not have follow-thru for the stories they tell. Up to and including entire event stories. Press releases and headlines have been the motivation for the last three years of their major decisions in the books. |
Quote:

Marvel hasn't had a truly great event book since Annihilation.

I liked Civil War and Secret Invasion. Not too big of a fan of Marvel in space, to be honest.
|
I also skip Spiderman events, because it's always a bunch of clones.
|
I don't really count the Spider-Man or X-Men events as they're more self contained.
I've gone into why I'm not a fan of civil war. Not going to rehash that. Secret Invasion was good. Just not great. The entire concept was based around a power set the skrulls have had since they debuted in the 60's. Just kind of felt like they were making a big deal over something the skrulls have been doing for decades. |
Hmm, wait, Avengers vs X-Men was ok.
Can't really think of any good Ultimate events. Cataclysm for instance was plain terrible. |
Ultimatum was bad, too. Remember thinking why has noone ever thought of making Wolverine sit out their battles with Magneto.
|
Just want the Fantastic four and the X men back and not the ones we got stuck with after the "realism" of the 90s onwards. I see some hope with the current patch of titles but they are just getting too bogged down. What happened to telling a story without fucking everyone over? The had a young version of the original 5 and they somehow managed to fuck them all up in what 5 years.... fuck.
Wolverines all over the place and getting tired. Let's replace him with 4 others instead... |
I heard that the adult Jean Grey is coming back to life soon......
|
Isn't that actress old as dirt now?
|
I meant in the comic books........

These days I look forward to the ongoing titles more than any crossover events. Speaking of which, I'm also quite annoyed that the frequency of big events combined with the need to have tie ins in fucking everything means that stories in ongoing titles that I'm enjoying are constantly getting interrupted. |

Want to see a Byrne Austin Clairmont run that takes off from the original plans for Uncanny 137 onwards
|
|
The fuck does snick mean and what is it you're saying?
|
He meant"snikt".
|
Well... suppose a scrap between him and his old self would be interesting.
|
I mean it was going to happen. No one seriously believed he was going to stay dead.
|
I knew it with the cop-out encassed in adamentium thing. Marvel is actually kind of brutal with deaths that stick. Beautiful kind of poetic deaths are always laced with cop-out potential.

And apparently he has a Infinity stone.
|
For whatever reason the government was just keeping this stone in a crate somewhere.
Now did Logan cut his way out or have help? |
I figure that'll be elaborated in some future book. Marvel has a habit of actually spoiling events in press releases and leave the details for the 6 people still buying books these days. The monthly model is going to fade very soon. I wouldn't mind fewer books that are thicker tho.

Nobody really writes single issue stories anymore anyways...... everyone "writes for the trade".....

ANd that could have been solved with a pm.
This isn't casual |
THIS IS SERIOUS BUSINESS ONLY

Good enough.
Let's troll in all the forums. Got it. |

Unknowingly got involved in the tail end of one of Loki's schemes and got it out of a case a Frost giant stole. But it looks like he might have been around elsewhere for a little bit
|
So the only thing to come out of NYCC was the Runaways trailer? No Infinite War? Not even a Black Panther trailer?
the fuck |
Runaways looks dope tho
|
Yeah.... looks pretty true to the comics..... except for Molly being older...... I guess they didn't want to deal with a kid actor growing up too quickly for future seasons.......
|
Weak con showing from Marvel. That was very strange.

Been catching up on Ultimates, and it honestly makes every other story seem so pedestrian. It's hard to care about the peril of Secret Empire when simultaneously, you have a threat that's on an incalculable level.
|
Just wish the artwork wasn't all over the place. Just let Kenneth Rocafort do the whole thing like in the beginning.
|
Can't get into Ultimates. That Galactus lifegiver or whatever was too much for me.
|
How so? Pretty much every World Devourer story that could be done, has been done. To the point where Galactus has really lost a lot of his mystique. I thought it really refreshed the character, and opened up a lot of possibilities for the future.
|
Also, just finished the final issue. Super bummed it's over, but fuck if it wasn't an epic finale.
|

No real reason, I just didn't like it. Not into the cosmic stuff at all. |
Lotta people aren't I guess.
I guess I just have a certain mindset, wherein things of great scale appeal to me. Any story exploring the unknown, and cocepts much bigger than what we know, whether it be mystic or cosmic. That's why I love Lovecraftian stuff and demonology as well. And by Ultimates 2 shit gets pretty fucking lofty. Actually explains the origins of the actual concept of the multiverse, which I thought was rad as fuck. |
Like there is literally a scene in one issue where Galactus pulls them from a battle in Secret Empire and is like "Yeah, that really doesn't matter right now." lol
|
Haven't read Marvel in a long time, but that reminds me of how after Annihilation and Civil War, Nova went to Earth and Iron Man was telling him about Civil War and the registration act, and Nova was just like "WTF, I was out saving the universe and this is what you guys have been doing here?!"
|
That kind of idea scales, tho. While Nova and any other cosmic heroes in both Marvel and DC and chastise Earth level heroes for their drama, global heroes like Superman and Iron Man could equally chastise Daredevil and Green Arrow for wasting time with drug dealers and gang bangers for most their career. And from there the street level heroes can laugh at cops. Cops then scoff at security guards. Security guards lecture people who do nothing at all for their community.
|
I'm saying in a grand morality kind of way I don't think it's appropriate for Wave Rider to chastise a security guard sense they're 'all in the fight' in a cheesy way, I admit.

Big difference. |
Rider's a dick.
|
Rider shoved his fist down Annihilus' throat and ripped out his intestines.
So he's a pretty badass dick. |
Dick Rider
|
I like Nova. I wrote his theme song.
|
Great line in Great Lakes Avengers
"And unless someone can explain to me right now, why they threw my clients, the Avengers, in jail for doing their $#@%^&$# job....I'm going to shove the infinity gauntlet so far up this stations collective ass that you'll all be erasing realities when you fart." |

This looks awful. Not often do I hope for more CGI but this shit needs it. |
I can't even believe you need to be told not to gauge costumes by set pics at this point. It's the same convo every comic movie.
|
Looks like John Cena.

But if you are into older stories, and don't mind being behind on current stories, then it's fantastic. |
So yeah, Secret Empire was pretty shit. Nevermind the fact that cosmic cube stuff at this point is uninspired and lazy.
Marvel should just stick to ongoing titles. They've been much better for years now. |
Don't know where else to talk about this, but I sarted reading Saga and it's fantastic. I LOVE LOVE LOVE surrealistic, sci-fi/fantasy.
|
Hurray! Someone else is reading Saga!
Recently got the two deluxe volumes from the library and read through pretty quick, and then caught up to the current release...... It is pretty amazing |
Yeah, been getting into Image comics quite a bit. Seven Days to Eternity is really cool. Fantastic art, and Rick Remender is one of my fav writers.

Quote:
Do they ever explain later why the Punisher is cozy with Hydra or its one of those things where you need to read a separate comic to get the entire story? |
Combination of Punisher always looking up to Cap, and evil cap promising all the resources he wanted.
Whatever, it's still dumb. |
Quote:
How far are you in Saga? |
Burned through everything up to the current issue in like 2 days. Book is so good. Already ordered the big compilation books.
