I want Heroes for Hire....

Spiderman - Homecoming - really good. But please stop with changing their races. There is no way a black guy would be called Herman Schultz.

Kalyx triaD 09-06-2017 02:46 PM

So they change the last name.

There's no stopping them.

Sixx 09-06-2017 03:33 PM

Oh come on, that's a name for a SS officer, not a black dude.

Kalyx triaD 09-06-2017 03:39 PM

I'm binging Once Upon A Time and Merlin is black. I just don't care anymore.

Sixx 09-06-2017 03:54 PM

Fair enough.

Sixx 09-11-2017 06:52 PM

Ha, Punisher now has a car with a huge skull on the hood. A t-shirt is one thing, but if you're wanted for like 635656 murders you might want to keep a lower profile.

Yeah, I know it's just comics, made me giggle nonetheless.

Sixx 09-11-2017 06:53 PM

Go back to the pedovan, man.

Marvel currently working on a new X-Men comic series that is going to be a retelling of the entire 30 year history of the group.

The comic will run over three years with differing names for the arcs - Grand Design, Grand Design Second Genesis, and Grand Design X-tinction. All six issues will be written, inked, and colored by Piskor himself. The debut issue will release on December 9, with a collection of the first two issues being compiled and released on April 17, 2018.

Kalyx triaD 09-15-2017 04:59 PM

Whatever at this point.

Lock Jaw 09-15-2017 05:31 PM

Six issues over three years to tell a very convoluted team history?

Lock Jaw 09-15-2017 05:32 PM

All the history will be retconned by the time the last issue comes out.

Destor 09-15-2017 05:57 PM

2 issues a year...or?

Emperor Smeat 09-15-2017 06:02 PM

Yeah about two issues each year covering one arc.

Seems its going to be a small gap between the two issues based on plans for the first arch and then a long wait till the next set starts.

Kalyx triaD 09-15-2017 06:34 PM

Marvel will not be above changing the original team.

Emperor Smeat 09-21-2017 10:39 AM

ABC rumored to be canceling Inhumans after a single season.

Basis for the speculation involves current marketing for the series suggesting ABC won't be ordering future seasons.

Quote:

Marvel’s Inhumans cancelled already? Ahead of the superhero drama’s primetime premiere, ABC is seemingly preparing for the worst.

The network is advising viewers to see “the COMPLETE series” from Sept. 29, rather than the ‘first season,’ suggesting Season 2 plans have already been cancelled.

Well... Now they know to tell a contained story.

KIRA 09-21-2017 02:20 PM

I thinK with Domino shes going to have vitaligo to explain her skin. Patch on eye is the beginning stages.

I had so much hope for Evil Capt. America as someone who hated everything about him this was a welcome change but Secret Empire sucks balls its all over the fucking place and not in a good way. Im just gonna quit and start reading METAL.

Emperor Smeat 09-21-2017 02:34 PM

Heard a lot of bad things abut Secret Empire although I only have read up to issue 4 at the moment. Punisher working for Hydra and the cosmic cube memory stuff is the worst so far.

KIRA 09-21-2017 02:51 PM

I'll just say this if you do like Capt America when his part comes to a head it will piss you off

Lock Jaw 09-21-2017 03:19 PM

Once again:

Marvel does stunts for headlines and self congratulated press releases. They do not have follow-thru for the stories they tell. Up to and including entire event stories. Press releases and headlines have been the motivation for the last three years of their major decisions in the books.

Marvel hasn't had a truly great event book since Annihilation.

I wouldn't even care about this if the books were good, but despite a few exceptions like femthor, ms. marvel, and the all female X-Men, they really haven't been.

Sixx 09-22-2017 06:11 AM

I liked Civil War and Secret Invasion. Not too big of a fan of Marvel in space, to be honest.

Sixx 09-22-2017 06:12 AM

I also skip Spiderman events, because it's always a bunch of clones.

Fignuts 09-22-2017 06:26 AM

I don't really count the Spider-Man or X-Men events as they're more self contained.

I've gone into why I'm not a fan of civil war. Not going to rehash that. Secret Invasion was good. Just not great. The entire concept was based around a power set the skrulls have had since they debuted in the 60's. Just kind of felt like they were making a big deal over something the skrulls have been doing for decades.

Sixx 09-22-2017 06:39 AM

Hmm, wait, Avengers vs X-Men was ok.

Can't really think of any good Ultimate events. Cataclysm for instance was plain terrible.

Sixx 09-22-2017 06:43 AM

Ultimatum was bad, too. Remember thinking why has noone ever thought of making Wolverine sit out their battles with Magneto.

Blonde Moment 09-22-2017 10:01 AM

Just want the Fantastic four and the X men back and not the ones we got stuck with after the "realism" of the 90s onwards. I see some hope with the current patch of titles but they are just getting too bogged down. What happened to telling a story without fucking everyone over? The had a young version of the original 5 and they somehow managed to fuck them all up in what 5 years.... fuck.
Wolverines all over the place and getting tired. Let's replace him with 4 others instead...

Lock Jaw 09-22-2017 10:34 AM

I heard that the adult Jean Grey is coming back to life soon......

AvX was ok, yes, but again nothing really great, that lives up to the hype that accompanies these events.

These days I look forward to the ongoing titles more than any crossover events.

Speaking of which, I'm also quite annoyed that the frequency of big events combined with the need to have tie ins in fucking everything means that stories in ongoing titles that I'm enjoying are constantly getting interrupted.

Kalyx triaD 09-27-2017 06:02 PM

Fignuts 09-27-2017 06:14 PM

I mean it was going to happen. No one seriously believed he was going to stay dead.

Kalyx triaD 09-27-2017 06:36 PM

I knew it with the cop-out encassed in adamentium thing. Marvel is actually kind of brutal with deaths that stick. Beautiful kind of poetic deaths are always laced with cop-out potential.

And apparently he has a Infinity stone.

Blonde Moment 09-27-2017 09:55 PM

For whatever reason the government was just keeping this stone in a crate somewhere.
Now did Logan cut his way out or have help?

Kalyx triaD 09-27-2017 11:24 PM

I figure that'll be elaborated in some future book. Marvel has a habit of actually spoiling events in press releases and leave the details for the 6 people still buying books these days. The monthly model is going to fade very soon. I wouldn't mind fewer books that are thicker tho.

Episodic monthly issues is a terrible format. Long form stories, true graphic novels, would be good for business...

Lock Jaw 09-28-2017 01:33 AM

Nobody really writes single issue stories anymore anyways...... everyone "writes for the trade".....

Fignuts 10-29-2017 07:44 AM

Been catching up on Ultimates, and it honestly makes every other story seem so pedestrian. It's hard to care about the peril of Secret Empire when simultaneously, you have a threat that's on an incalculable level.

Fignuts 10-29-2017 07:45 AM

Just wish the artwork wasn't all over the place. Just let Kenneth Rocafort do the whole thing like in the beginning.

Sixx 10-29-2017 07:58 AM

Can't get into Ultimates. That Galactus lifegiver or whatever was too much for me.

Fignuts 10-29-2017 08:22 AM

How so? Pretty much every World Devourer story that could be done, has been done. To the point where Galactus has really lost a lot of his mystique. I thought it really refreshed the character, and opened up a lot of possibilities for the future.

Fignuts 10-29-2017 08:23 AM

Also, just finished the final issue. Super bummed it's over, but fuck if it wasn't an epic finale.

How so?

No real reason, I just didn't like it. Not into the cosmic stuff at all.

Fignuts 10-29-2017 08:56 AM

Lotta people aren't I guess.

I guess I just have a certain mindset, wherein things of great scale appeal to me. Any story exploring the unknown, and cocepts much bigger than what we know, whether it be mystic or cosmic. That's why I love Lovecraftian stuff and demonology as well.

And by Ultimates 2 shit gets pretty fucking lofty. Actually explains the origins of the actual concept of the multiverse, which I thought was rad as fuck.

Fignuts 10-29-2017 10:31 AM

Like there is literally a scene in one issue where Galactus pulls them from a battle in Secret Empire and is like "Yeah, that really doesn't matter right now." lol

Lock Jaw 10-29-2017 01:08 PM

Haven't read Marvel in a long time, but that reminds me of how after Annihilation and Civil War, Nova went to Earth and Iron Man was telling him about Civil War and the registration act, and Nova was just like "WTF, I was out saving the universe and this is what you guys have been doing here?!"

Kalyx triaD 10-29-2017 03:02 PM

That kind of idea scales, tho. While Nova and any other cosmic heroes in both Marvel and DC and chastise Earth level heroes for their drama, global heroes like Superman and Iron Man could equally chastise Daredevil and Green Arrow for wasting time with drug dealers and gang bangers for most their career. And from there the street level heroes can laugh at cops. Cops then scoff at security guards. Security guards lecture people who do nothing at all for their community.

Kalyx triaD 10-29-2017 03:04 PM

I'm saying in a grand morality kind of way I don't think it's appropriate for Wave Rider to chastise a security guard sense they're 'all in the fight' in a cheesy way, I admit.

Nova wasn't ripping on them for fighting threats on earth, he was chastising them for fighting amongst themselves while giant bug warlords were devouring the universe.

Big difference.

Kalyx triaD 10-29-2017 08:35 PM

Rider's a dick.

Fignuts 10-29-2017 08:39 PM

Kalyx triaD 10-30-2017 12:51 AM

If you are just interested in new stuff then no. Unlimited is about 5 months behind the current issue.

But if you are into older stories, and don't mind being behind on current stories, then it's fantastic.

Fignuts 11-10-2017 04:31 AM

So yeah, Secret Empire was pretty shit. Nevermind the fact that cosmic cube stuff at this point is uninspired and lazy.

Marvel should just stick to ongoing titles. They've been much better for years now.

Fignuts 11-10-2017 04:33 AM

Only got through about half of it before getting bored and dropping it from my current reading list.

Do they ever explain later why the Punisher is cozy with Hydra or its one of those things where you need to read a separate comic to get the entire story?

Combination of Punisher always looking up to Cap, and evil cap promising all the resources he wanted.

Whatever, it's still dumb.
