It's ok in that department. A solid game overall, but FEAR and Dead Space are much scarier. The gameplay of the Darkness is novel, and the story is intriguing. I'd put it on par with Prey (another title that doesn't get enough love)

Manhunt and Condemmed might be as scary as well (US versions only)

Dunno how I feel about that. I'd rather see something like a Mexican city or Chicago than another retread. I had no problem with them revisiting Liberty City, because it's basically what GTA's built off of. But I don't really want to see the same location again until the next gen (which would technically be after the next one, really).

Though if they time warped another location into the 80s or even before, that could be cool.

An Indie studio created by a few former members of the Halo franchise announce a new game called Fallen Frontier.

The game by Moonshot Games was revealed to be a 2-D shooter in the style of Bionic Commando and Shadow Complex with a sci-fi setting and theme for gameplay. Also revealed was co-op multiplayer mode to go along with the standard solo/campaign mode.

The game will officially be playable as a demo at the upcoming PAX East 2011. It is expected at the convention that the platforms and potential release date will be announced.

Expect the dance game genre to decline again with today's announcement by Activision of their current development with a new game called Dance Hero.

Activision is still clinging to the "Hero" series and this new game could bridge the gap for the next Guitar or DJ Hero should it arrive next year.

I thought Guitar Hero was scrapped entirely as a franchise.

Fallen Frontier looks dull and boring.

Especially after playing hardcorps.

It depends since they only officially scrapped the 2011 GH/DJ Hero game but might attempt one last game next year.

They want to take a year off to figure out their long term plans and decided to at least capitalize in the current dance genre craze for now.

The producer/director behind the Mario Kart series explains how and why the Blue Shell was put in the game. It turns out the Blue Shell had 2 purposes with one being a hidden purpose.

Gameplay-wise, the shell is meant to keep every race fun for everyone playing. The idea was to keep people playing and not give up due to 1-2 people dominating every race.

Technical-wise, it was meant to keep the N64 processor from overloading with everyone on the screen. The shell in this case was meant to knock people off the track to ease the CPU workload.

The team had the idea to get rid of the Blue Shell for the Wii version of Mario Kart but by then it became too famous and well-known part of the series to just get rid of.

So I won't be on LIVE for the foreseeable future. Warranty ran out, and I need to conserve my money, for the next couple of months. Maybe if I get a decent tax return I'll be back. But for now, Fignuts is exclusive to the PS3.
