Just read a thing on reddit that Gallows and Anderson may be returning to RAW soon.

Meh.

XL 10-10-2022 03:26 PM

Makes sense. Think HHH is building a Trios division to rival AEW’s.

AJ & Good Brothers
Finn/Priest/Dominick
Legado Del Fantasma
Imperium
Brawling Brutes
The Bloodline

Clearly been keeping an eye on TK’s Big Leagues.

Every trio in AEW is just poor mans rip-off New Day.

I would swear to god that tape recorder naturally looks like a cell phone in Paul E's hand... but it would in no way be that small in 82.

I've always felt that wrestling's boom period had shit loads of factions, and that helped a lot of guys get some air-time/direction that they wouldn't have otherwise had.

More trios/factions could lead to more interesting interactions.

Mr. Nerfect 10-11-2022 07:32 AM

Factions can also be a lazy way to try and jam people through the door too. Wrestling is full of factions that no one gave a crap about.

Mr. Nerfect 10-11-2022 07:34 AM

Judgment Day could be so much better as individuals, if you think about it.

* Finn Balor could be moving towards a feud with AJ Styles that isn’t bogged down by Gallows & Anderson (who suck).

* Dominik & Rhea would work on their own.

* Damian Priest could do his own thing. Hell, he’d be a better choice for the Karrion Kross push than Karrion Kross.

I stand by this, Anderson and Gallows only have value when they are standing behind actual stars and their "humor" is reigned in Russo-style.

Before you mention how crap they were with Omega, reread what I said about "actual stars."

:y:

I guess as heavies they aren’t too bad. Gallows has got a sneaky charm about him. He reminds me of Nash (minus a bunch of charisma obviously). Anderson isn’t TERRIBLE as a worker, but the Gallows team does nothing to help him. It’s kind of funny having a New Japan champion in WWE though. That’s the most interesting thing about this so far.

Van Dam was the most exciting worker on the planet for 3-5 years. WWF didnt get him and they hand cuffed him creatively and athletically. They lost millions on mishandling him.

Mr. Nerfect 10-14-2022 09:20 PM

He seemed like the best guy to try and take them forward in 2001. It was basically there for them to take and they just…didn’t.

Lock Jaw 10-14-2022 09:24 PM

I never saw ECW so I never "got" RVD.... just seemed like a guy who was content to just "coast on his rep" for decades and never change/adapt... and his punches were terrible... not Shane McMahon level bad, but terrible....

I do have to admit that it must be some "rep" that he got in ECW because he did make a lengthy career of coasting on it.

I get what you’re saying. I was never a Van Dam guy. That being said, I was never a Rock guy either. But remember how stonkingly over he was in 2001? It bothered me how popular he was. Taking me out of it, he could have done way more for the company.

And if he got pushed better, who knows if he would have fallen into his patterns as hard. It’s not like he couldn’t work. Imagine if he got to have a real run up there with Kurt Angle, Austin and Rock while the the chance was there.

RVD agrees though. He says it sucked the life out of him after he realized they didnt get him and never were going to get him. He resigned himself to earning paychecks; he completely checked out. Thats the tragedy. His career ended in 2001. There was a spark when ECW was getting its revival but that was it. He phoned it in and got paid. The end.

Lock Jaw 10-14-2022 09:37 PM

It was like he couldn't work though. You saw one RVD match you saw them all. (In WWE and after... again, can't speak for ECW)

Mr. Nerfect 10-14-2022 09:38 PM

Lock Jaw 10-14-2022 09:47 PM

It was what was best for business.

Yeah, he was over.... but they also realized he wasn't actually that good and it was his "rep" and the "rep of ECW" that people were cheering... and that he could only ever be a B+ player in the big leagues, if that.

I don’t think that many people saw him in ECW. He had the rep with a certain segment of the audience, but RVD’s cool factor is what really got him, I think (even though he didn’t appeal to me personally).

Now this is where you're re-writing history. He was the most over guy in the company in 01 and had been the hottest act in the business in the eyes of everyone who knew who he was since 97. His 01 wwf run was electric and his matches were creative and exciting. The cut him off by the balls and killed him completely because he was an ecw guy. He stayed over because everyone knew how good he was even if he wasnt good right then.

Destor 10-14-2022 09:53 PM

Instead of being a wrestler he became a caricature. Stoner surfer guy. Had the same match for a decade.

Lock Jaw 10-14-2022 09:57 PM

If we’re ranking the Alliance members Christian is definitely top 10. But nowhere close to Robert Van Dammit

Well yeah. With rvd at least he was over

I kid Christian was pretty ok

Mr. Nerfect 10-14-2022 11:21 PM

I love Christian. Randy Orton vs. Christian is probably my favorite Orton program.

HUGE RVD fan in ECW. Got to see him wrestle CW Anderson at a ECW show in 2000. Their only Canadian show.

drave 10-15-2022 09:03 AM

Welp, I threw some money at WWE for some Bray merch. Love the new logo and overall look. Bray is also great.

Mr. Nerfect 10-15-2022 04:11 PM

Was Lance Storm doing that on purpose? It’s a pretty clever way to get the ECW fans to turn on you if you want to be a heel. I don’t agree with the psychology of throwing a weak chair shot unless you’re supposed to be ineffective though.

Mr. Nerfect 10-15-2022 04:20 PM

Lance does seem like the sort of guy who wouldn’t like hitting someone over the head with a chair.

Stu Hart 10-15-2022 05:15 PM

Even after a stroke he was still holding his own in the ring :

Mr. Nerfect 10-15-2022 06:15 PM

I don’t know why, but it just register with me that Bret Hart worked that much for WWE. Just fucking weird. Everything seemed so spaced apart back then, but 2010 was only 3 years after Chris Benoit. We’re almost as far removed from 2010 as 2010 was from 1997.

Imagine being Heath Slater and how surreal it must have been working Bret at Madison Square Garden. When’s that guy getting out of Impact Wrestling and taking his throne back in WWE?

Lock Jaw 10-15-2022 06:25 PM

Waiting for Slater to come back to fulfill the 3MB destiny and become world champion

Mr. Nerfect 10-15-2022 06:37 PM

Sadly, I think he’ll be the Xavier Woods of the group. But he should still get a Hall of Fame nod.

Fignuts 10-15-2022 06:53 PM

Jinder got a new theme.

So the only good thing about him is gone.

Lock Jaw 10-15-2022 07:04 PM

His 01 wwf run was electric and his matches were creative and exciting. The cut him off by the balls and killed him completely because he was an ecw guy. It pains me to agree with Destor in any way, but I'm going to have to on this occasion.

He was crazy over in 2001. Definitely the most "must watch" guy on the roster. That match he had with Jeff Hardy was so great.
