i have no idea who the fuck this guy is, but just googled him and he looks the part.

ClockShot 03-05-2017 06:52 AM

He was on Hell on Wheels on AMC. Which is a really good show from what I heard. More or less his breakout role.

Also, Ken Leung (played Miles on Lost) joins The Inhumans as Karnak.

I just watched X-Men Apocalypse for the 3rd time and I think it's the best X-Men movie of all time for sure.

Kalyx triaD 03-11-2017 11:07 PM

It was very fun for me and very 'MCU styled', imo. I get that it didn't have the depth of the other Singer X-Men movies but honestly it was fine for them to just have fun in that one.

Sony has announced a "Venom" movie for 2018....

Kalyx triaD 03-16-2017 11:10 PM

Jesus.

Destor 03-16-2017 11:14 PM

I knew it was coming...and yet...ugh...

Lock Jaw 03-16-2017 11:15 PM

Don't worry, one of the writers of the acclaimed "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" will also be working on this script.......

Sixx 03-17-2017 01:29 AM

i actually liked the amazing spiderman 2...

Lock Jaw 03-22-2017 09:12 PM

Sony announces a "Black Cat & Silver Sable" movie to be in development......

Destor 03-22-2017 09:25 PM

My concern os the market might get flooded with shite films and ruin the draw of the good ones...

Kalyx triaD 03-22-2017 11:08 PM

What the fuck is Sony smoking? They couldn't rock a Spidey franchise but they think they're gonna nail Venom and Not-Catwoman?

And what happens after that will be very different. I don’t know if it’s Phase 4, it might be a new thing.

- James Gunn has already confirmed Guardians 3, so Phase 4 isn't some kind of continuity reboot. Other sequels of the newer generation heroes are also Phase 4, they're not gonna up and recast Dr Strange.

- However, I think we're gonna get a shift in central characters as far as sub-franchises go. Cap, Iron Man, and Thor will likely not be the core subs anymore. Like Stark, Thor and Cap may exist as supporting characters/cameos for other films.

- This is probably the best shot for characters like FemThor, Iron Heart, BuckyCap or Captain Falcon. Tho I don't think they'll carry their own film series.

- Special team ups and one shots should, imo, get more play. Black Widow needs to happen.

Sixx 04-24-2017 04:50 PM

i'd love a black widow movie.

make it a completely different genre, just a spy movie, it would be cool.

Kalyx triaD 04-24-2017 05:00 PM

Hell yeah. Toss in characters tied to the shadowy parts of the MCU; Hawkeye been around, Winter Soldier likely knows some heavy shit, perhaps have Melinda May from SHIELD show up. I'd love that.

And I would offer Mila Kunis anything she wants to be the villain. A Russian survivor of Widow's bloodier past, now a super spy anti-Widow.

slik 05-04-2017 01:36 PM

First look at the Inhumans....

looks awful/cheap

http://cdn.collider.com/wp-content/u...umans-cast.jpg

Fignuts 05-04-2017 01:42 PM

Medusas outfit could use a bit more zazz, but otherwise it looks fine for a tv show.

Destor 05-04-2017 01:55 PM

Cystal looks good, Maximus too. Karnak works. Gorgon...meh. Not a fan of race swaps. Black Bolt and Medusa...boo.

slik 05-04-2017 01:58 PM

It looks like X-Men circa 2000...aren't they supposed to be royalty...they don't look like it. Medusa and Karnak in particular look really bad. Medusa needs to look really hot and have giant, cool hair and Karnak needs to be crazy fit, like a person who does cross-fit, not kind of old and not-intimidating. Black dude in back looks like he stepped out of the Matrix sequels and the short guy on the right looks like a fat Elijah Wood but I have a feeling he's supposed to be the 'tortured soul' villain. Girl with cheesy stripes in her hair looks like a TNA wrestler.

I figured since this is getting a IMAX release for the first two episodes ABC/Disney would amp up the budget but looks like they cheapened out.

Destor 05-04-2017 02:03 PM

IS GORGON EVEN A SATYR WHAT THE HELL. I was pretty meh about the race change but im KINDA PISSED about the lack of GOAT LEGS....

And where the fuck is Lockjaw...

Destor 05-04-2017 02:04 PM

*sigh* dont want to shit on something from a production still but this does not fill me with hope

They all look daft, but I'm okay with waiting for the finished product.

ClockShot 05-04-2017 04:35 PM

Uhhhhh, where's Bolt's mask with the little tuning fork on it?

Lock Jaw 05-04-2017 04:48 PM

I think only Medusa looks "bad" right now......

Lock Jaw 05-04-2017 07:20 PM

I will defend Gorgon by saying no one (except Destor) really cares too much about Gorgon...... having goat legs or not pretty minor..... as long as he is still "a tough guy" or whatever......

Kalyx triaD 05-04-2017 10:55 PM

Lockjaw is totally in. He'll be CG.

Kalyx triaD 05-04-2017 10:57 PM

Also, it's a TV budget and so far anything related to the MCU only gets as bad as the still watchable Iron Fist. They've earned my benefit of a doubt.

Valid

Lock Jaw 05-14-2017 02:27 AM

Haven't read Marvel Comics in years..... someone please explain to me what the hell the deal is with the young version of the X-Men.....

Why are they still around?

Don't they have to go back eventually?

Aren't they radically changing the timeline with every new detail they learn and every new experience they have?

Fignuts 05-14-2017 03:35 AM

Yeah it's really stupid. I thought it was a great idea for a single story arc, but it's gone on way too long. They had this big event where half the x-men wanted to send them back because fucking duh, common sense, and the other half fought to let them stay because "they should be able to choose their own destiny" or some or new age hippy crap, that none of these characters would ever say given their past experiences with time travel.

Like, it actually makes me mad. That's how dumb it is.

Blonde Moment 05-14-2017 08:38 AM

They just recently found out that the universe they came from no longer exists... they are stuck.

Lock Jaw 05-14-2017 12:05 PM

Oh, so they aren't even from the same universe?

And they are going to be around forever now? (Until they get killed off)

Sixx 05-14-2017 12:06 PM

Guess they're here to stay. Especially since the regular Cyclops kicked the bucket.

The beast found a way to travel back in time (magic) and found a young version of themselves doing their thing. My impression is that this is a result of the last Secret Wars event and the formation of the "new" Marvel Universe with the additional castaways from the past, future and alternate universes. ie: Old Man Logan, Miles and apparently the Logan's son from the Ultimate Universe

Huh? Who? What?

Jimmy Hudson is the adopted son of James and heather Hudson.
His Father was Wolverine and Mother was Magda making him the half brother of Ultimate Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch

Sixx 05-14-2017 12:38 PM

Ah, right. Been a while since I read Ultimate Marvel.

Lock Jaw 05-14-2017 12:51 PM

Is Daken still around?

Sixx 05-14-2017 12:54 PM

Nope. Sent to some kinda alternative universe or whatever by some 3rd grade villain.

Lock Jaw 05-14-2017 12:54 PM

For clarification, I believe that when I stopped reading Marvel was quite some time ago..... I believe the Dark Reign ended and the Heroic Age had begun.....

Rammsteinmad 05-19-2017 03:25 PM

Dunno if this is true or not, popped up on Facebook, but apparently Tom Hardy has been cast as Eddie Brock in Sony's Venom movie.

http://bloody-disgusting.com/news/34...r-man-spinoff/

Kalyx triaD 05-19-2017 04:12 PM

While I still think Sony is getting on themselves again I do not reject this casting at all.

Sixx 05-19-2017 04:33 PM

Wait, so the rights to Spiderman are back with Marvel, but Venom's are with Sony?

I'm kinda confused.

Fignuts 05-19-2017 04:55 PM

Sony lent spider-man to marvel. They never sold the rights.

I know this has it's own thread, but I plan on updating these two topics indefinitely as comic movies appear to be more of a stable in the film industry. Eventually I'll simply make a Comic Movie News Thread but I'm a freak about organization. Anyway, Iron Man as finished filming a little while ago which gives them close to a year of post-production. They closed filming in Vegas; though this isn't a hint to the film's story (= the ending may not be set in Vegas). Terrance Howard will play James Rhodes in case some of you didn't know. Rhodes is the civilian identity of War Machine, though you can bet he'll figure in the sequel with a cliff-hanger introduction at the end of this film.

Iron-Man cast: Terrance Howard-James Rhodes/War Machine, Gwyneth Paltrow-Virginia "Pepper" Potts, Robert Downey Jr.-Tony Stark/Iron Man, Shaun Toub-Yin Sen (he is NOT The Mandarin)

Spidey 4:

I suppose Spidey 3's financial success is attributed to Venom's inclusion and they'll add more recent villains as a result. If this is true, and I love the series so far, this will be the beginning of Spider-Man's spiral into the Batman and Robin effect, increasing an aspect of the last film not knowing it worked in a shot-in-the-dark sense. Sam Raimi also expressed ideas of using The Vulture or Electro (more classic villains). I doubt he'll actually have anything to do with Spidey 4. JK Simmons, Bryce Howard, and Dylan Baker (Conners/The Lizard) will return with new leads for Peter Parker and Mary Jane, I'm thinking.

More to come.

Lock Jaw 05-29-2017 01:11 AM

10 years.... DAMN

I wish Spider-Man 3 was a better movie, and that there were more sequels.

Kalyx triaD 05-29-2017 05:15 AM

They should have went with Spidey 4, if only to get past part 5 and do a perfectly timed Sinister Six movie. Then again that would have delayed Spidey being in the MCU so... destiny?

Sixx 05-31-2017 02:38 PM

Kalyx triaD 05-31-2017 11:27 PM

Sixx 06-01-2017 08:41 PM

I am so sick of this whole reality changing, time travels, travels to other dimensions, heroes taking over other heroes' identities. Different timelines in different titles. Comics are just confusing these days. Why do I keep reading? No clue.

Sixx 06-01-2017 08:51 PM

Also, it took a year of waiting for the big reveal what Fury whispered to Thor that made him no longer worthy and it is so fucking lame. Fuck you, Marvel.

This has been one of my biggest problems with marvel in recent years. Too much of a reliance on time travel/alternate universe stories. They used to be big events. I remember being so pumped for Age of Apocalypse. Nowadays it feels like every other story I read is one of these types of stories. The last one that meant anything was House of M. They're not special anymore.

Other problem is their lack of balls in comitting to major status quo changes. Redeeming Scarlet Witch, killing off bucky cap, etc. Just a couple examples, but so many fresh, original stories could have been told with those characters, but nope. And as a result, nothing really has much of an impact anymore. "Oh my god, Captain America is an agent of Hydra? Thats crazy.....until they return it all to normal a year later."

Sixx 06-02-2017 05:09 AM

Yeah and it's like you take one X-Men book and Cyclops is dead, you take another from the same week and he's all fine, turns out he's from another dimension and also time-travelling (I do not even mean that young Cyclops that's been around for a while).

And now we also got 3 fucking Thors. Not to mention that stupid dinosaur like thing that dresses like Thor and also wields a hammer.

3 thors, two HAwkeyes, 3 wolverines - 4 if you count the little one, 2 Angels, 3 spiderman clones plus the original.

I was so fucking pissed off at New 52. I grew up a Marvel kid. I had the odd DC comic here or there, as well as trades of Death of Superman and Kingdom Come, but I didn't really get into DC until I got back into comics in 2003, during the lead up to Infinite Crisis. I read so many old trades and wikipedia articles to learn the history of the DCU.

All for them to throw it all the fuck away for a new, plastic, focus group approved version. Felt like a slap in the face, and I haven't read a thing since, except for Green Lantern which kept its continuity and is SHOCKINGLY one of the consistantly great reads because of that.

Sixx 06-02-2017 05:48 AM

Never was a huge fun of DC. Like some Batman stories, but could never get into the whole universe. Also, getting through the classic Dark Knight Returns was a pain in the ass for me, because of the terrible artwork.

As for All New Ultimates, I haven't got to that yet. What are the titles?

(I'm currently at the beginning of April, had no time to read comics weekly last few weeks)

Fignuts 06-02-2017 05:57 AM

Oh no, its not Ultimate universe, just tne one title. The Ultimates (2015) Team consists of Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Spectrum, Blue Marvel, and America Chavez. They're a preemptive team that tackles cosmic level problems, with their first mission being to cure Galactus of his hunger. I read it through marvel unlimited, so I'm several months behind whats on the shelf, but its been great so far. Good art work too.

I am a big fan of marvels cosmic stuff, especially when they get the abstract entities involved.

Sixx 06-02-2017 05:59 AM

Oh, I stopped reading this after they turned Galactus gold and he became lifebringer or something like that. Not really into space stuff, other than Guardians.

I also see they got X-Men Prime, Gold, Blue and some others. Jesus.

Fignuts 06-02-2017 06:03 AM

Yeah, tried reading some of the more recent x-men stuff, and none of it did anything for me. Don't mind x-23 as wolverine, but fuck, they changed everything about her personality that made her interesting. She's like a normal girl now. Boring.

Sixx 06-02-2017 06:09 AM

True. Used to be a tormented, cold-blooded killer, now she has morals and shit, it's like a Kitty Pryde with claws or something.

If it weren't for boredom and sentiment I'd stop reading Marvel altogether. Quite some time ago, really.

Rammsteinmad 06-02-2017 11:04 AM

Has the whole Peter Parker/Brand New Day stuff been retconned yet? Obviously I'm still a little behind with modern Marvel, are we still in the reality where Peter and MJ never married etc?

Sixx 06-02-2017 11:08 AM

There're soe many versions, you can get confused. But the main book (amazing spiderman) has Peter Parker as a single billionare. But you know, I haven't read it in like 3 months, since they started another fucking clone saga.

Blonde Moment 06-02-2017 09:32 PM

Well now we have Ben Reilly back (Whose bat shit crazy), we have Kaine (whose out to kill Ben Reilly) we have Otto who now inhabits a cloned body from the Dha of both Otto and Peter, We have Miles Morales from the Ultimate Universe swinging around. We have two alternate Universe Gwen Stacy's that pop in and out of ours one who was bit by the Spider instead of Peter and one whose kooky as shit, from a Superboy Prime type universe and is more or less a pink powerless Deadpool. Then we have Silk who was apparently bitten at same time Parker was and so frightened of what was happening to her she locked herself in a bunker for x number of years.

The we have the Renew your Vows Spiderman family who may or may not be living in the old 616 universe.

WHole thing makes the old X-men potential future timeline look simple as fuck to understand.

Sixx 06-02-2017 09:37 PM

Yeah, I stopped following Renew Your Vows. It sucked.

And wasn't Silk locked in a bunker by someone rather than herself? I think that's what it was about.

Sixx 06-02-2017 09:39 PM

Yah, just checked, it was Ezekiel. Whatever, the easiest Spiderman to follow is Miles Morales, but he started travelling meeting Gwen Stacy's left and right so we'll see how this goes.

Lock Jaw 06-02-2017 09:45 PM

That Spider-Man post made my head hurt

Blonde Moment 06-02-2017 09:51 PM

That is the state of Spiderman at the moment.
Makes the now current x-titles simple in comparison.

Blonde Moment 06-02-2017 09:54 PM

Only good thing Marvel has done in the last year was resurrect Namor but then they went and gave us the abortion that is now Hank Pym/Ultron meld

Lock Jaw 06-02-2017 10:01 PM

Say what you will about DC, but at least they only have one of each character......... except for Wally West, I guess.......

Blonde Moment 06-02-2017 10:06 PM

I like the current superman family but I am sure they will screw that up soon.

I sense another recon coming up after the current Watchman storyline is done.

I enjoyed the Green Lantern Star Trek Crossovers

Lock Jaw 06-02-2017 10:09 PM

I saw they made a second Green Lantern/Star Trek..... I enjoyed the first one.... Should check out the second.....

I read about Ben Reilly being back! Thought that was kinda cool as I like the character back in the day (am I the only one who didn't have any problems with the Clone Saga?!?!)... but redoing the Clone Saga etc does definitely seem a bit forced.

I'll judge it when I get to it, though.

What's extra fucking dumb about it is way back in God of Thunder, Gorr literally calls him on it, and Thor basically acknowledges that Gorr's assumption is true. Thor didn't lose his his worthiness when Gorr said it, so why the fuck would he when Fury says it.

Sixx 06-08-2017 09:58 PM

Indeed. Gorr said it and Thor was like "meh".

Fury said "Gorr was right" and he goes all "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" and spazzes the fuck out.

Destor 06-08-2017 10:02 PM

The "logic" is that when Fury said Thor believed it.

But thats dumb because Thor doesnt decide os he's worthy Mjholnir does...but maybe the doubt made him unworthy...i dunno.

Fignuts 06-08-2017 10:39 PM

Thor did believe it when Gorr said it. I think Sixx is understating Thor's reaction. It clearly bothered him, but he confronted the doubt internally and moved on.

Fignuts 06-08-2017 10:40 PM

I really hope this doesn't lead to gorr coming back. I loved God of Thunder 1-11, and it all ended so perfectly.
