From WWE.com:
East Rutherford, N.J.’s MetLife Stadium has played host to the NFL Playoffs, two NCAA college tournaments, five international team soccer games, and historic concerts from the likes of U2, The Eagles and Bon Jovi. And now, it’s getting its first WrestleMania. For the first time, The Show of Shows is headed to New Jersey, as MetLife Stadium, home to the Super Bowl XLVI Champion New York Giants, as well as the New York Jets, will host WrestleMania XXIX on Sunday, April 7, 2013. The traditional WrestleMania Week activities, including WrestleMania Axxess, the 2013 WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, and Monday Night Raw will take place across the New York/New Jersey area in the days leading up to the show. An official press conference will be held tomorrow, February 16, at 11:00AM at MetLife Stadium, where WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon will be joined by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, New York Giants President & CEO John Mara, New York Jets Owner & CEO Woody Johnson, and a host of WWE Superstars, including John Cena, Triple H and Sheamus to officially announce the event. There will also be a special appearance by John Cena’s WrestleMania XXVIII opponent, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The press conference is not open to the public, but WWE.com will be posting video and photo updates about the event throughout the day. |
My roomate lives in Jersey, I can probably talk him into going.
|
That's the latest WrestleMania has been on the calendar if I recall correctly.
|
So that pretty much puts an end to any chance of the every 10 WrestleManias at MSG tradition continuing.
|
Yeah, it's the latest.
WrestleMania 2 was also on the 7th of April. |

It sucks if that is what happens. I've been sort of saving up to buy tickets for WrestleMania XXX with hopes that it's at MSG. :-\ |
Yeah, I was hoping for it, but I guess they're going to do Cowboys Stadium for 30, which makes sense I guess.
Kind of surprised they didn't just wait for 30, do it at Metlife and do the Hall of Fame and the TV tapings after in the Garden. |
I think I read somewhere that Cowboys Stadium is already booked for what would be the typical WrestleMania weekends in 2014 so they would have to move WrestleMania to early March or something.

Here it is...

Hmm. Chicago then?
30 needs to be a big wrestling city. Maybe do the Skydome again. I know they were talking about that. |
Mania in Cowboys Stadium whenever it happens will look just unbelievable

Wrestlemania XXX in 3D In Outer Space (on the Moon)
|
I've heard Toronto discussed as well.

You know also that with all the 30 numbered WMs that they will drop the Roman Numerals..
|
Oh yeah, they could do 3-D with WM at Cowboys stadium too. They did it live for a quarter of a Cowboys game a couple years ago.

I imagine with the WM date of April 7th, theres not much chance of it snowing or anything, but it could still be cold.

Actually like this logo. At first glance I hated it, but it's pretty sweet. They will probably change, though. |
King Kong Bundy to the Hall of Fame (cause of the Empire State Buiilding in the Logo and King Kong reference)
|
|
Is Big Daddy the Hulk Hogan of England or something?
|
was, wrestling/the World of Sport stuff was legit fucking huge in the 70's through the mid-80's, drew more TV viewers than just about everything and he was the top guy for a lot of it. Most people over the age of say 40 reference/think of World of Sport when wrestling comes up
|
Kinda. I mean most people when the mention British wrestling mostly associate/remember/bring up the name Big Daddy. I don't really think anyone todays knows or cares though.
Except DLVH and Seth maybe. |
Well if MSG is off the cards, then I'd love for WrestleMania XXX to be in Canada somwhere. By then, WrestleMania would have only been held in Canada twice in 29 years, so it would be a good way to celebrate 30 Years of WrestleMania. It would feel more special.
If it is Canada, then I'm sure it would be in Toronto, like VI and X8 were. |

I've got my own little thing going. Every 9 years since WM 3, my favorite wrestler at the time has won or retained the title. 3 was Hogan, 12 was HBK, 21 was Cena. I had the idea of me personally being the one to win it at 30. Then my goals changed. Life's funny.
... What was I talking about? |
You spent too much time on that Top 100 Matches thread when you could have been doing some serious training. So tragic. :(
|
Didn't know Met Life Stadium looked "really awesome"

Larger image. http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...40641611_n.jpg I still don't get where New York comes into all of it, if the event itself is being held in New Jersey. :-\ Is the Hall of Fame ceremony being held in New York or something? That's the only reason I can think of for adding "NY" to the logo, even though it's not a good reason. |
because New Jersey isn't a draw
there's a lot of money to be made with New York on the logo |
