Another legendary watch-along moment. The comic timing was something to behold.

The "Leave it to Beaver" joke was so memorable it produced an entire gimmick over a decade later.

So they let a guy leave and used his success in another medium to boost their own numbers. I don't think we're disagreeing too much here. The fact that they could only get ex-WWE fans to come over and no UFC fans to come over and slowly lost the few ex-WWE fans who did come over isn't a good thing.

Eh, it could be a badge of honor. Or he could just dial it back and insult the kids’ teachers, parents, local sports teams, etc. Him being in character all the time has helped get him over as a package in AEW and that’s been his audition. When he gets to the WWE he wouldn’t necessarily be looking to keep it going as much as he is now. Or maybe they want him to and that’s part of the appeal?

Maybe I am completely misremembering, but exactly when did Virgil work for WWE when chairshots to the head were prevalent? Until the attitude era, WWE did not often use chairs, and certainly not unprotected head shots.

WWE banned chairshots to the head in around 2010, and the last one does was during Mania 27 with HHH/Undertaker, and they were fined for doing so.

Virgil was not working in WWE during the timeframe where WWE did utilize unprotected chair shots.

The situation Virgil is in sucks, but this is exactly why wrestlers who should receive help do not, because of the ones who wrongfully try to lay the blame on WWE ruin it.

A lot can change in 18 months, but Killer Kross and Scarlett are basically confirmed to be a part of this.

I think of wrestlers who might want a SAG membership and John Morrison and Bray Wyatt spring to mind. That gives them two more upper-card guys. Maybe you could bring in JoJo, Erick Rowan and Bo Dallas as part of a package with Bray? If you could lock The Briscoes in, that might give you leverage to sign FTR when their deals are up for next year.

Sign Tessa Blanchard and pray that she’s good. Morrison would give you access to Taya Valkyrie. Melina could come in as Morrison’s crazy ex. You could maybe make a sneaky play for someone like Trish Stratus to be a non-wrestling figurehead for a bit before getting back in the ring. Scour the world for not only the best indy talent, but also try and lock up Gerry Brisco and/or Jim Ross to scout college athletes for you to put into developmental (something AEW should have done).

With the combination of some stars, Freddie’s connections you might be able to land something on the CW Network. Maybe. That’s optimistic. But you should be making those strategic moves now.

I watched this after I watched Darby / Jeff from Dynamite and the bump Dragunov took was the worst. He's an absolute madman. But what a great match.

Jesus fucking Christ what’s the story behind this?

GD 05-17-2022 02:56 AM

Wow! That was uncomfortable to watch.

Bad News Gertner 05-17-2022 07:59 AM

Apparently a racial slur was made backstage.

Lol he certainly beats him as thought there was a racial slur uttered backstage.

Yeah that is really terrible. Very unprofessional wrestling there.

In a sense, I suppose. But it’s no worse than what Steiner’s did to jobbers.

Steiners were always extra stiff and rough but they didn't always beat the shit out of jobbers. The difference is it was pretty much their " style". They didn't intend to seriously hurt anyone just rough them up a little bit. A lot of old school guys were like that to see if they were tough enough to break into the business.

Thanks for explaining jobber matches to me lol. Anyways, guys used to fuck jobbers up just as bad as Koko did to that guy. And they definitely did mean to seriously hurt the jobbers because they were assholes and sadists. Dynamite kid broke Mick Foley’s jaw for Christ’s sake.

Crippla 05-17-2022 10:27 AM

Yeah some of them did but my point was meant to be that I think the Steiners get more of a bad rap than they should

Crippla 05-17-2022 10:27 AM

Everyone knows Dynamite Kid is a POS anyway

Bad News Gertner 05-17-2022 10:28 AM

Jobbers were literally refusing to work with them. They had to bring in Bloom and Enos and put them under masks because they could take the Steiners moves and would work with them

Bad News Gertner 05-17-2022 10:29 AM

Them and the SST's

Crippla 05-17-2022 10:44 AM

I'm trying to find this video I saw of them beating the shit out of these guys in Japan

Crippla 05-17-2022 10:45 AM

I'm saying this because I assume if anyone has seen it or knows what I'm talking about it would be you ( Gertner)

With the Steiner's, it's always sudden violence. In this match, you get the standard steinerlines that knock your dick stiff, on top of Ric blasting with a forearm Al Green for seemingly bailing out of a top rope t-bone or powerslam.

Then a young, almost 300-pound Mike Awesome walks in and Scott just manhandles him but takes it relatively easy.

Scott would also spike guys on their head with the Frankensteiner (he didn't in this match).

Don't make me find Stan Hansen committing felonious assault on a young Nailz. Because holy fuck.

Fujinami and lizuka from Wrestle War 92. An absolute beating.

Mr. Nerfect 05-17-2022 12:00 PM

It wouldn’t surprise me if a slur was involved, but sometimes a guy just wants to get themselves over and here’s an opportunity with a guy they can go that extra degree with.

Bad News Gertner 05-17-2022 12:10 PM

Beau James on BTS said that's what happened
