I’m rushing ahead of myself and being impatient. Austin/Goldberg is always a match they can do later. It’s probably something for the Saudis. I guess Austin and Owens will be fine. Austin being back would probably be special enough on its own.

That does suck. Bobby Lashley has turned himself into a damn fine worker. One of the few people who feels like a star on their shows. I hope he comes back in great form. I think him and Lesnar is going to be a big match, maybe for the UK show. I can see Austin & Brock vs. Roman & Lashley being a big SummerSlam tag to set that up, since the two stadium shows are so close together.

I haven’t been this pumped for a WrestleMania in years. Brock vs. Roman is going to be great. They haven’t done the two belts thing at Mania before, and this has been percolating for a long time. This was the match that was supposed to define the era. Roman Reigns is the longest reigning champion since Hulk Hogan.

Becky Lynch has not been beaten for the Raw Women’s Title since she won it 3 years ago. Bianca does very impressive things. Potentially a huge star for them. I hope they push Montez Ford as a singles guy soon. Maybe Angelo Dawkins can turn on him and become a Seth Rollins Guy? It feels like it’s been a while since we’ve seen two guys who came in as partners feud (or I can’t think of it right now).

Charlotte and Ronda will be out to prove something, I think. And they’re both big stars.

The Miz & Logan Paul vs. The Mysterios could be surprisingly good and will probably draw them a bunch of attention. Logan Paul might just be the right sort of personality for wrestling.

And if we’re getting Steve Austin? Fucking glorious. Could be a top tier WrestleMania, which I feel they haven’t delivered since 2014.

Over the past few years, there have been occasions where I've looked at a WWE card, and gotten excited for it. Then I actually watch it, and it's nowhere near as good as it looks on paper.

So wrestlemania card lookin' good? Not today, Satan.

Undertaker/Bad Bunny at WM please

If there is any reason to bring Taker out of retirement for one more match it is Bad Bunny.

Yeah that would be pretty epic. I'd say an Undertaker & Bad Bunny team against two others of interest might make more sense though, I'd have said AJ and Omos but obviously they aren't a team anymore. I guess they could find the right team though.

Honestly at this point I could almost care less about wrestlers "devaluing their legacy" by wrestling into old age. The footage of Taker's prime or Golbergs or whoever's is there to watch, it doesn't change because they are old now and suck when they wrestle. Just them cutting promo's and walking to the ring for the match seems to be "worth it" for the majority of fans and that's probably the only thing that should matter.

Yeah that is weird WWE hasnt hyped that fact at all. Maybe this close to Mania they dont want to draw focus?

I think the complaints are less about legacy, and more about not wanting to see old men sloppily fumble around the ring, when they have young, capable athletes that can go.

Obviously spectacle is a big part of wrestling, but at some point, if the wrestling itself is bad enough, the spectacle can't make up for it.

Yeah, when you a hype a show like that it becomes the story and you’re focused on memories and such. Right now it’s WrestleMania hype season. The story of Raw is something that can be told on another legends night or a “season premiere” or something.

I mean, I don’t think it would be a bad thing for Steve Austin to return on Raw 1500, so you can easily remember something that happened on it. But people will probably remember that anyway, and with Austin being 57 you may not want to remind people of how old Raw is as well.

I think that last years Mania card was a good attempt at trying to have a little of everything each night, though one of the nights was a lot better than the other.

Having the legend returns bout is standard for Mania so I don't think having Austin or Taker, Cena or Triple H, Booker T or Shawn Michaels, whoever they use, it's for the better of the whole show in one way or another.

I feel like each year we get to Mania all of us say "I wish Money in the Bank was available for Mania"... I say it again. I get the stadium event though that's better but damn I miss having that option for Mania.

Blitzkrieg was really cool. I remember a few crazy botches but overall, pretty radical for his time.

Was thinking today that CYN might hire Johnny Curtis, which primes them to take over the #2 spot in wrestling.

Who knows? Nerf may be right and they consciously decided not to draw attention away from the bigger story(-ies) currently unfolding. However sometimes they get too much of the benefit of the doubt about always knowing what they're doing. I'd be more willing to bet it was a thing that slipped through the cracks unnoticed much like the beginnings of Undertaker's streak than some actual decision to not acknoledge the milestone... especially considering everyone going apeshit about the date being 2/22/22 for weddings and shopping sales and such.

Used to have no time for Bischoff (outside being a performer), but he’s been right on the money with a lot of the things he’s said. Especially when it comes to his understanding of how television works vs. Dave Meltzer being utterly confused by why WWE would load up a developmental show for SyFy and why a show worth $50 million to USA Network or whatever, that likely generates more profit than Dynamite, isn’t going balls to the wall for rAtInGs in 2022.

All the information is out there, and a lot of it is common sense, but Dave’s gotten push the narrative that those numbers are important so he’s always got something to write about when things get quiet.

Loved when WCW had La Parka, Psicosis, Ultimo, Rey, Jericho, Eddie, Malenko, Juvi, and Blitzkrieg. Crazy how talented that group was overall at the time, and the matches and lucha style and masks/gear certainly made things cool/different than most of the wrestling I'd seen prior on TV up to that point.

WCW missed a massive opportunity selling those masks.

Just got back from a GCW show in LA. X-Pac & Joey Janela vs Matt Cardona & Brian Meyers.

After Pac and Janela won the match, Pac got on the mic and was saying that if this was his last match, he wouldn’t want to go out any other way than with Janela as his partner. Janela looked extremely emotional, hugged Pac and then superkicked the fuck out of him which shocked everyone in the crowd.

A damn near riot happened. People throwing beer cans and buckets into the ring. Janela going after fans in the first row. Shit was bonkers.

I had a feeling that show was going to be something special. Had a good time?

In kayfabe it is, the 2 World Champs in a Unification match is the biggest Wrestlemania match ever. They have had 2 World Championships since Wrestlemania 18 technically, and they held off doing this for 21 years. Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar will be the only match to headline Mania thrice. Between them, they’ve spent more time as champion than any other match in Mania history. Going by stats, it is the biggest match in Mania history…on paper.

Roman Reigns is the longest reigning champion since Hulk Hogan. Before that it was Brock. It’s probably going to be the most viewed Mania of all-time live because of the Peacock deal. It’s not as ludicrous a sell as some things in wrestling.

If you’re making a kayfabe list of the most epic WrestleMania rivalries — a WWE.com list, as silly as those are — you probably put it #1. Rock vs. Austin is #2. Rock vs. Cena is #3 and Taker/Michaels is probably #4.

A single match: either Hogan vs Andre or Rock vs Hogan are both bigger.

Its still laughable that Vince thought Jindrax could replace Batista in Evolution.

I thought Jindrak was originally supposed to be in Revolution and was replaced by Batista. I know Bats got hurt right at the beginning (I think), but I don't think Jindrak was in the works to replace him. They just waited until he was back.

Yeah Evolution started and then Batista and Orton got injured in the same match, with a similar recovery time, but then Batista re-tore his triceps while rehabbing. When Orton came back that is when Vince wanted Jindrax, but Triple H and Flair didnt think it would work, and convinced Vince they should just be a 3 man group until Batista came back.

If Jindrak had been with the group, they would have booted him out when Batista was ready. Triple H would have said they were “evolving” and Jindrak would have been turned into a Test.

Do you guys like seeing popular wrestlers doing "shoot" or "curtain up" style interviews via podcast or some written publication? If you ever visit Ringsidenews, a very TMZ style news page, almost half of their articles are pieces from an interview that a wrestler did.

I see these type of quotes all over as headlines, why are wrestlers always pulling back the curtain these days? Very little attempt at getting over a character, just talking about what's said backstage. Just gossiping hen's really.
