Roman's the first "face of the WWE" to wrestle with gear that covers most of his upper body.

You can't fight Samoan genetics. Belive that.

Jonathan Coachman mentioned on an appearance on The Ross Report with Jim Ross that ESPN is currently working on a ” 30 for 30 ” documentary on the XFL.

Coach noted that they've been watching all the old XFL tapes, reliving the games and commentary. Coach also mentioned that former WWE star Jesse Ventura made $1 million a game at one point in the XFL.

Former WCW/WWE star Marc Mero will be getting heart surgery on 6/16 in Cleveland, Ohio. Diamond Dallas Page is asking his followers to send prayers and positive vibes to Mero. We wish him nothing but the best. In recent years, through his Champion of Choices non-profit, Mero has been teaching kids about the dangers of bullying, the dangers of drugs and helping them empower them to own their own lives.

Mero has dealt with several health issues during the last decade. He has a deteriorating spine and has had eight major surgeries for different wrestling-related injuries. He stated in 2007 that the needed to get a heart valve transplant and he almost underwent heart surgery in 2014 but tests showed that his enlarged heart had shrunk. "I’d say that to me professional wrestling today has mostly little people in it. I don’t see any real big men anymore. Very few anyway. The ones that are in it aren’t used properly. Like Mark Henry. It just seems to me, and I don’t mean to disrespect anyone in the business. A lot of guys are working really hard. I miss seeing some of the big guys. When you talk about getting rid of a Wade Barrett. Guys like Mark Henry are seeing less and less time on TV."

"It seems like the wrestlers they’re all little jumping bean guys. They’re all Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels kind of smaller guys. I was 230 pounds. I think I was bigger, a little bit bigger, in mass than some of these guys today. There’s so many guys that have the same stats. Six feet tall, five-eleven, one hundred and eighty five or ninety pounds. Dolph Ziggler. They do a million high spots. They’re in great, phenomenal shape. They all look the same. They all got rock hard abs. They all look like swimmers."

"I miss the guys that would go out there that looked like Nikolai Volkoff. Or somebody that looks like Don Leo Jonathan or Mad Dog Vachon. Where’s the big guys? Where’s the King Kong Bundys? Who’s hiding all the King Kong Bundys in the world? Where did they go?"
Bret Hart's opinion on WWE's new era and the roster in general these days.

More stuff with the WWF as they continue to explode. Now it seems that there’s going to be a Saturday morning cartoon featuring Hulk Hogan and his friends. Now, Dave makes an interesting point here about Wrestlemania, which kind of shoots down the main legend about the show before it even happens. He notes that with the kind of money infusion that the WWF is getting from the one-two punch of deals with both CBS and NBC, even if the house show business tanks they’ll still have so much cash on hand that they can easily survive for years off the network TV deal alone. So the idea that Wrestlemania was going to break the company if it failed is ridiculous, because just two weeks before that show they signed a pair of (likely) million dollar deals with major networks, PLUS the shit that goes down with Crockett at the end of the month was worth another million. They weren’t going anywhere, Wrestlemania or no Wrestlemania ...

And finally, Dave finishes with a note that two years ago, Mr. T approached Verne Gagne with an idea very similar to what will happen on that closed circuit show on 3/31, and Verne turned him down because “wrestling doesn’t operate that way.” And there’s your metaphor for the day.
Random Vince/WWE story from back in the day regarding Mania 1 and AWA making another big blunder in hindsight. The link gives a bit more details on the story itself and when the Observer article about it was written. https://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCirc...re_of_the_1st/

Some other sheet news includes:
  • WWE recently released a trailer for the next Table For 3 episode with Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, and Sean Waltman: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NbW7LulaKo
  • Recent interview Fight Network had with Tommy Dreamer involved topics such as NXT, memories of Balls Mahoney, and his feeling of chair shots to the head need to be completely removed from wrestling for health reasons. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPcznAw6RPg
  • Being rumored at the moment the WWE was unsuccessful in their legal attempt to get the Ryback trademark decided in their favor. Supposedly has to do with the commonness of the name filed or how WWE filed the motion to get Ryback's trademark dismissed.
  • Mattell recently uploaded a video of the New Day revealing the next line of WWE series action figures. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Vp76u-md4k
  • According to reports, Dana Brooke's promotion to the main roster might only be a temporary thing since Emma and her are currently filling in for Naomi and Tamina (both injured) in regards to what was supposedly planned for post-Mania storylines with Becky.
  • In a "WWE Did You Know" type fact, prior to the creation of Stardust, Cody Rhodes was working on the idea of doing a Tony Stark type gimmick. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCZDD_6-CDc

Bret Hart is 1000% right by the way. The WWE needs more variety in the size of their wrestlers.

So basically Evolution HHH.

Ol Dirty Dastard 05-12-2016 12:04 AM

any ratings increase will be attributed to Steph and any ratings drop will be attributed to AJ being in a program with Roman. Just the way of the business.

Ulnless you're the Rock or 95% of Samoan rugby players I have seen. Roman's dropped a lot of weight and if you look at his face NOW compared to that picture he is obviously in much better shape.

Remember when reigning Intercontinental Champion at the time, "Captain Charisma" Christian made a special appearance at Slammiversary 2012 ?

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/LSudzYnPy3I" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I was listening to a podcast where they were reviewing the new Dudley Boys home video release and how the WWE has eased up on talents (Jeff Hardy, Sting etc.) talking about their time in TNA.

I miss Christian so much :'(

Also miss those few years where I actually watched and enjoyed TNA....

Ol Dirty Dastard 05-12-2016 12:40 AM

Christian was so great. One of the most underrated guys of all time.

Disturbed316 05-12-2016 12:55 AM

Jesus, the music is terrible on those entrances.

Ol Dirty Dastard 05-12-2016 12:56 AM

Do you think he was "better" than Edge? Like obviously not as successful, but he was never given the same sort of chance to succeed. I found most of his career was making chicken salad out of chicken shit. He would often times get jobbed mercilessly... the only time I think he may have won a feud was against Jericho at WM20...yet some how he always seemed over.

Lock Jaw 05-12-2016 01:00 AM

"Emotional" @ watching this video (after skipping past all the vintage TNA overbooked finish to the end of the match)

I always thought he was better than Edge, yeah... just was never given the same opportunities to succeed....

Damian Rey 2.0 05-12-2016 02:25 AM

Wasn't Christian's appearance a talent exchange of sorts... because of Flair being inducted into the Hall of Fame while working for TNA?
