A new Duck Tales game might happen soon or latter now that Warren Spector is bugging Disney almost on a weekly basis to approve of the project.
Would use the comics more for inspiration since Donald would be a playable character (shows up less in the cartoons than comic) and be influenced by Indiana Jones in terms of scale and epicness. http://www.screwattack.com/news/warr...uck-tales-game |

More bad news for THQ ever since they released their recent financial report.
On Friday it was revealed they defaulted on a $50 million loan from creditor Wells Fargo and are still borrowing more money to help cover the next quarter. Wells Fargo is still loaning them money but now are considering reworking the credit agreement to make sure THQ won't default next time. http://www.polygon.com/2012/11/10/36...redit-facility |

Bioware reveals some early details about Mass Effect 4 which includes a new engine and team working on the game.
The game is being developed by their Montreal studio and not their Edmonton studio which developed the first three games. Bioware Edmonton will still help but act more as advisers than actual developers for the project. Also revealed was Mass Effect 4 is being built up using DICE's Frostbite 2 engine with Bioware's Dragon Age team being the first to get experience with the new engine. In terms of storyline and direction, Mass Effect 4 won't be rewriting things previously established in the series but will be moving away from the original games in regards to the story and gameplay itself. http://d1vr6n66ssr06c.cloudfront.net...12/08/0016.jpg http://www.giantbomb.com/news/biowar...ect-game/4447/ http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...stbite-engine/ ___________________________________________________________ Daily Recap: * Valve confirms the Source 2 engine is currently in development. http://www.screwattack.com/news/gabe...ay-celebration http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...e-development/ |

Burnout 2013- Need for Speed Most Wanted demo is up.
|
During Epic Games keynote at the Montreal International Game Summit, the founder of the company thinks development costs could easily double for the next generation of games.
While the basis by Tim Sweeney comes from their own “Samaritan” tech demo, he believes the new tech and tools needed to make great next gen games will end up causing development costs to skyrocket. To put it in perspective, Epic Games estimates to make a full game from their demo would currently cost about three to five times more the amount spent on current gen development. He also believed the best solution to combat the growing costs would be for publishers to move away from the $60 exclusive platform games in favor of more multiplatform or free-to-play games instead. The Tom Clancy games do alright for themselves. I suppose Rayman is recognisable and for me, the 2D one is the best Ubi game I've played.

EA's Origin services have been hacked and to make matters worse EA's security system has made it almost impossible for people affected to change their account info.
According to early details, the attack appears to be part of a phishing scam originating from Russia or using Russian IPs as part of the attack. EA has stated anyone affected to contact their Origin customer service department to get help. They also claimed their robust security system is designed in a way to always allow people the ability to change their account information whenever it is needed to be more secure. The only problem is EA completely locked out those affected from changing their account details while thousands of people who have called customer service were refused any help. Those same representatives were unwilling to restore accounts since the valid information being required is not what was originally on the account but what was changed by hackers. http://www.screwattack.com/sites/def...er_3966196.jpg http://www.screwattack.com/news/psa-...as-been-hacked http://www.destructoid.com/origin-ac...t-238575.phtml _____________________________________________________________ Daily Recap: * Microsoft once again celebrating Xbox Live's 10 Year anniversary by sending out free special edition Xbox 360s and other gifts to a select number of so called "Xbox Veterans." http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...live-veterans/ * Sony warns that anyone who even tries out the new exploit found for PSN will be permanently banned for life from PSN. http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...ion-3-hackers/ * Bioware announces anyone who can prove they were affected by the Black Ops 2 disc production error will receive a free PC copy of the Mass Effect Trilogy when its released. http://www.screwattack.com/news/biow...-2-snafu-style http://www.destructoid.com/bioware-m...s-238539.phtml |

Hideo Kojima joins the list of important people in the video game industry to have an opinion about the concerns for the next generation.
In an interview with EGM, Kojima stated he's more concerned about what new technology and abilities the next gen can bring rather than be worried about actual specs or horsepower details. He's also concerned over the possibility of certain standards taking too long to be established next gen since he believes the sooner they are set, the longer the benefits will be to everyone. Quote:

Got an email today about the Ten Year Anniversary of XBL that showed me some lifetime stats of me using the thing:
Multiplayer Playtime: 249hrs (seems kinda low) Using Apps (Netflix and such): 179hrs |
Continuing the 10th Anniversary celebrations of Xbox Live, Microsoft releases a bunch of stats that's been accumulated ever since the service started in 2002.
Besides offering a free Kinect game yesterday and select XBLA games being 50% off, most of the other details regarded achievements and friends lists. In terms of achievements, over 4.5 billion achievements have been unlocked generating over 270 billion in gamerscore value. In terms of friends lists, over 122 million accounts have been linked together using those lists. The new Xbox will almost certainly have actual BD playing functionality. If Microsoft has any interest in setting themselves up as a full home entertainment setup (and let's face it, they've been pimping that more than games), they'd be fools to drop BD support even if they're still pushing their own VOD service and apps.
Nintendo does this sort of thing for cost cutting. Microsoft doesn't need to. Anyway, tangent over, I'm skeptical about those claims, but the ideas aren't bad. |

Sony announces another Uncharted game is on its way for the PS Vita although the news generated a lot of disappointment.
The game will be called Uncharted: Fight for Fortune and will only have a digital version available. Other details include a release date of December 4 on PSN and a price of $5. Unlike previous Uncharted games, Fight For Fortune is a turn-based card collecting type game which is what caused most of the disappointment from the announcement. Quote:

Microsoft currently rumored to be working on a Xbox brand set-top media device.
The device would arrive around the same time as the rumored launch of the next Xbox console with both expected to be released during late 2013. According to the Verge, the TV set-top box would work similar to an Apple TV device with the focus primarily on media and "casual" games. The device itself would be running off a modified version of Windows 8. In terms of architecture, it would be part of a planned "core" architecture with basis revolving around the next Xbox console. The architecture would also be very scalable in order for the Xbox brand to expand to a wider variety of devices during the next generation. http://d1vr6n66ssr06c.cloudfront.net.../Xbox-apps.jpg http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...-xbox-in-2013/ http://www.destructoid.com/microsoft...t-239087.phtml _______________________________________________ Daily Recap: * DICE currently rumored to be working on Mirror's Edge 2 according to sources in Sweden. http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...s-swedish-dev/ * Wii RPG "The Last Story" has become the highest selling game ever published by XSeed (publisher for North America). http://www.destructoid.com/the-last-...r-239019.phtml * Rockstar announces a December 6 release date and $5 price for GTA: Vice City 10th Anniversary game on iOS and Android devices. http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...s-and-android/ http://www.destructoid.com/gta-vice-...6-239094.phtml |

I'm sure it fun and easy to just say Capcom wants money and RE sucks now - but the thing about bandwaggons is they miss little details like Capcom actually making a good game and then a good decision with it. Love how people still look at those eBay auctions like the winning bidder is actually going to pay up.
|
eBay is a legal contract, isn't it? So, if they don't pay up, the seller could probably take steps to get the payment the buyer bid. I can't see someone letting $90,000+ go, no matter how stupid the auction is.
|
I'm not sure if they really could legally argue it in this case. Consider, if they take this to a serious court of law, then the point will be made that clearly the auction itself was a joke and in no way serious and therefor any bids placed on it could also be considered as jokes. I think with something like Ebay both parties have to act in good faith, and clearly auctioning off a cardboard WiiU controller is not acting in good faith on the sellers part.

Nintendo makes me sad. they have fallen behind since the N64 days in terms of technology. Sure, the Wii had higher sales, etc. But it was a gimmick that wore off after a year or so, and then sales went in the TOILET!
The Wii U seems interesting, but I am still not sold on it. I haven't bought a Nintendo system since N64, but have owned a GC and Wii (gifts). I think Nintendo needs another marquee character to get in league with Mario, Link, Megaman, Samus, etc. I don't think I can take any more Mario games FFS! |

Hopefully it can get more of an audience this next round and the multiplayer can actually be worth some time! |

It's gonna kill on Xmas, but the lineup doesn't do wonders. Next year should be great.
|
Nintendo hasn't had a great first day launch in terms of games probably since the SNES, and that includes handhelds.
|
Might have been GiantBomb or somewhere else mention that in terms of third party support, the Wii U ends up being their best ever for a launch.
Although its mostly because the majority of the games are ports and were already good games previously released. In terms of new games, its pretty weak although better than the Wii had. Either the PS2 or the SNES/Genesis launches were probably the last great launches for any console. |
Yeah, I'm talking new games, not ports.

Not entirely sure how anyone could argue against N64's launch. Mario 64. What more do you need?

Twitter and the hashtag #1ReasonWhy is currently be used by female employees and others in regards to exposing the level of sexism and other similar issues within the video game industry.
While the majority of the stories being exposed involve women in general, men who have tried to get the issue fixed have also revealed stories involving threats they received from their bosses. Besides the usual cases of workplace harassment and discrimination, female character design was also revealed to be another sore problem. People were either ridiculed or ignored when they tried to suggest changes to female characters beyond their stereotypical roles and appearances. Stories involving harassment and groping during conventions were meant to show how this problem is not solely a workplace issue and goes deeper involving the gaming community as a whole. Quote:
