AEW is fun to talk about. You’ve got crazy fanboys to file up. WWE is comparatively tame to talk about. It’s still watched by several times the audience. And a lot of them just shut up and watch, unlike this weird AEW cult that needs to go out and convince you this is a great promotion.
Plus, I’m pretty sure if you checked out the social media stats, way more people engaged with Raw than Dynamite. I can’t be sure, because I haven’t checked those stats, but that used to be the case. |

I'm not surprised. About 38k sold for each night so far. Ticket prices 'too expensive' in my opinion. I looked the other day out of curiosity and the section I sat in at WM32 for $220 is now $355 (for one night).

bro even their regular shows have been expensive for the past few years (before and after COVID).
I remember asking my son 2 years ago what he wanted more: Meet and greet with Tech N9ne and fam Just entry into RAW - without buying any merch Two lower-level seats after taxes and charges were about $225. We paid $125/piece for meet and greet passes plus a SHIT TON of merch AND a live concert. |

Low ticket sales is good. Maybe WWE will reconsider the two-night thing and go back to one.
|
Two night Mania is way easier to digest than a single night 7 hour Mania.
Ideally one single 4 hour show should be enough but WWE is never gonna go back to that. |
Aren’t they at like 38k for each show? 76k for a show that hasn’t had anything announced yet might seem slow to people expecting them to immediately sell out, but it’s far from the grimmest things I’ve ever heard.
I also think the two night formula needs to be tested in front of people. I just expect them to do mixed roster shows that play like the last two Manias but with a crowd, but there are potential things you can do with that format. You can do a Raw night and a SmackDown night. You can thematically build throughout the two shows. You can even have one show play off another. There’s no real reason you can’t have someone wrestle on both shows (other than the politics of them getting two spots). I don’t expect the WWE to get creative with things, but the potential for creativity is there. Especially down the line. |
Always have this inkling in the back of my mind that if Vince gets really desperate, he might try and ink something with Steve Austin.
The money would have always been there for Austin, but the giant TV rights money only kicked in at the end of 2019. Then we hit the pandemic which we’re only just coming out of. I think they were announced in 2018. Then we got the Becky push and Austin actually took a bump for her on some show. Austin is 57. Sure, that’s “old.” But if he has the itch at all, or sees the opportunity to make a giant star out of himself again — “Look Hollywood, this old cowboy’s got this much left” — the window is…more urgent than it’s possibly been for a guy who has always had “maybe” in the back of his mind. And who knows? Maybe his grandkids really want to see him wrestle or something? If they got him back for a couple of matches/maybe a special run, this would probably happen at Saudi Arabia, but the actual possibility of Austin vs. Goldberg? That would supersede anything else possible right now — including the contemporary story for Roman and Brock. There’s your night two main event. I’m not “predicting it,” per se. I’m just saying that it’s not the most insane thing in the world given that the company’s got all these billion dollar deals now, and they realistically could use something huge, and that’s the biggest thing that’s remotely possible to them (The Rock’s not wrestling). Just because it hasn’t happened bye doesn’t mean factors there can’t change. Shawn Michaels sat out for 8 years. |

Ugh..... already don't even care about Mania :(
Reasonable predictions: The main event matches will feature some heel champion v some megastar from the past. the other title will be a heel rumble winner v the face champ. Either way, it will be one "regularly featured" superstar against some people brought it just for Mania, thus making me not care about any build to it. I've been "WWE'd". The Rumble is always fun though. Right now, I'm looking forward to the Rumble match itself. |
I still try to watch the Rumble every year because even bad Rumbles are kinda fun. But with two WrestleMania title matches they have a tendency now to have the challenger of the less important title win for “shock value” which has taken away from the stakes of the match.
|
If I could watch only one WWE match a year, it would be the Rumble.
That said, last year was the least interested I've ever felt in a Rumble match...although knowing it was in an empty stadium was a big reason why. You need that genuine crowd reaction for the surprise entrants. |
Reasonable Mania predictions:
* Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar * Big E vs. Edge * Randy Orton vs. Matt Riddle * Becky Lynch vs. Bianca Belair * Seth Rollins vs. Montez Ford * Drew McIntyre vs. someone * An AJ Styles match, possibly against Finn Balor * Something involving Bad Bunny and/or Logan Paul * A Bobby Lashley match It’s really not that grim. SmackDown actually looks a little bleaker, but you put together things like an opponent for Drew, maybe do an Xavier/Kofi feud (I’m split on this), Nakamura vs. Zayn for the IC Title, a good Cesaro match and a strong babyface team to challenge The Usos and you’re kind of laughing. |
Indeed. On top of Mania being an entire fucking weekend worth of time, its just too much.
Wresetlemania 2042: A 5 day stupendous stampede of steroids and superstars!!!! |

This honestly sounds like it could be ANY ppv throughout the year. This is a big part of the problem with a homogenized product. |
Quote:
* Brock and Roman has been the best thing in WWE and frankly deserves to be the main event. * Becky and Bianca, should that be the match, has been set up since SummerSlam. I mean, they might move in a different direction, but if they go towards Liv Morgan for Day One, you’re then into Rumble season. * Seth Rollins and Montez Ford could be the husbands fighting, which would be an amazing opportunity for a dude with star potential to step up and have an arrival party. People whinge about new stars not being created all the time. * Orton vs. Riddle has been building since they started teaming, whenever that was. * AJ Styles having an amazing wrestling match is always a treat. * Big E vs. Edge is just me putting together something on the Raw side. But the story of Edge’s comeback has been him wanting to be the champion. It’s a bit uninspired to have him go after it as a babyface again, especially against Big E. Edge going to a dark place (we haven’t seen him since Hell in a Cell) could tell a cool story of the veteran going super-obsessive about getting one more run. You fill it up with the pomp and circumstance, WrestleMania is going to be fine. Sorry you don’t like it, but it’s perfectly fine for modern wrestling context with something half-way resembling having a vision to it. Especially if the prerogative is to make young stars like Bianca Belair, Montez Ford, Toni Storm, Matt Riddle, etc. at the show. |
This Vince McMahon egg storyline could potentially set something up for WrestleMania too. Adam Pearce has been charged with uncovering who stole it. That puts Adam Pearce and Von Wagner, and possibly Vince McMahon himself, at odds with the thief.
|
Quote:
They kinda did this to themselves though didn't they? So far, the storyline from a movie is the best thing they have going. :| I guess if that's your cuppa. |

The WWE does have a perception problem with some segments of the audience. But it is also more popular, more widely know and more effective at generating content for a general audience than anything close to a competition its got is. They will churn out that WrestleMania card, and honestly, if they fill those stadiums with more local fans, as opposed to super hardcore fans from the UK and elsewhere abroad, it might actually be a good thing for them. More sincere reactions, more fans that are out spreading word about the product, etc. They could certainly take more chances creatively. They play it way safe, and I understand why, but it does not make for the most thrilling product to say the least. They’ve got the talent and the resources to be better within safe parameters. But you see them edging towards that at time. People seemed to really enjoy the Crown Jewel show, for example, and some have even been saying that Raw has been better. |

The Royal Rumble, if you think about it, is a really bizarre idea in terms of a wrestling business that was still engaged with kayfabe. Why would it make any sense for their to be staggered entry? It’s a crapshoot and very “gimmicky.”
Yeah, it worked out, but how many other ideas like it have worked? How many other promotions have done knockoff Rumbles that sucked? How many WWE ones in recent years have been boring or forgettable. They kind of worked under Patterson and his attention to detail and finishes and the like. But the Royal Rumble has been coasting on that nostalgia for sometime. |
The only thing I watch every year is the Men's Rumble and even last year I couldn't be bothered. I hate how every run runns out, gets in the ring, does one spot and then fucks off till they get eliminated. Every. Single. Time.
And I get it for free |
Sometimes it seems you get a a guy coming in and doing their finisher to a few guys. Then they soak up a mild pop and disappear. But that may not have happened for a few years.

Does anyone deny that there are a multitude of reasons a product doesn’t end up making air? Or are you just going to dogpile on someone for being correct? |
