That's amazing lol
|
He was nice. Always kayfabed when wrestling came up. I ran into him a few other times at local Indy shows. He always made it seem like he and Yoko were a phone call away from returning to WWF. Once he told me that he and Yoko were going to come back and take the title from Austin. He was definitely a nice guy.
|
Fun random wrestling fact: as of today, Matt Cross' reign as Olde Wrestling World Champion is 11 days away from equaling Bruno Sammartino's first run as WWWF Champ (2803 days), and unless they book a last-minute show with a title change in the next few days, will have exceeded it by the time they run again. He won it on the company's first show in September 2013 and never lost it.
It's obviously not the same thing as Olde Wrestling is largely a comedy promotion that runs a couple of shows a year at most (with a grand total of none since before the pandemic), and not all of their shows have featured a title defense. But as Big Poppa Pump would say, the numbers don't lie. https://filsingergames.com/wp-conten...matt-cross.jpg |

Texas death match got nodded into Fire Pro and it's easily my favorite match type.
|
Maybe you can use it when you continue the TPWW Tournament, huh?
|
The nerve damage in my hands has actually gotten worse, so that's on the back burner for now. Only a couple people seemed to be following it anyway.
|
your firepro shit is top notch, no doubt.
|
Damn... that's rough @ your hands.... hope things improve...
|
It will. Just going to take time, and possibly a minor surgery. I'm starting occupational rehab where they use micro currents to stimulate the nerves. Some people respond really well to it, some not at all. Hopefully it works so I can avoid said surgery.
I'll definitely finish it up at a later time but right now it literally hurts to use a mouse and keyboard, and a lot of work goes into creating the edits and such. Time better spent doing rehab exercises. |
Hope you get superpowers or something :y:

Seems the Ultimate Warrior biography episode on A&E tonight suffered from the same problems the Macho Man and Booker T ones did in regards to how Warrior's controversial past was handled based on those who watched it like David Bixenspan.
With Macho Man, they didn't shy away from his controversies but it ended up coming across more as WWE being petty while with Booker T, they swept the racism stuff he encountered in WWE under the rug while not shying away from the racism stuff he encountered prior to his WWE career. Some of it was to be expected since WWE had a hands on role with its involvement but according to David Bixenspan, the episode whitewashes and blames others for Warrior being a bigot and homophobic and not just him being an actual shithead back in the day. |
Well Darkside will probably tell a different tale.
|
They also had the gall to say that Booker T in WWE was the first major black star that wasn't portrayed as a black stereotype. Which...holy shit I don't even know where to begin with that one.

How fucking popular would Magnum Tokyo be if he came around today with his M2K/Do Fixer entrance instead of 20 years ago. It's still the greatest entrance ever. |
lol I don't know, it works so well in Japan because they have a much larger female fan base. Lots of middle aged spinsters sitting in the front row waiting to put yen down his pants.

I have been enjoying the Jarrett podcast episodes. Thanks for the recommendation Gert. Conrad's shows tend to over stay their welcome but they are great with new talent and perspectives. I really wish he could get one with Bill Watts of he's mentally capable. Hopefully he gets Heyman one day too. Dreamer would probably be a good one as well.

If I remember correctly, the biggest mystery for years surrounding the cover for that album was which show the photo came from and what was the original photo used for the basis. |
Is it even Booker on the album cover?
|
No.
Another tweet by the same person talks about the cover being heavily photoshopped but believes he managed to finally pinpoint when the original photo for its basis was taken. Think Jericho's name gets mentioned the most over who the cover person might be. |
Saw that Sean Ross Sapp reported WWE and NJPW have had negotiations about a partnership. Which is very interesting.

They can keep making money off their glory days forever. Not making interesting content and not making stars people will pay to see now or in the future definitely costs them money though.
The past 15 years of content is way more plentiful but not nearly as valuable as the previous 15 years of content. That’s a bad trend. |
Making the kind content that fans will universally enjoy could likely clash with what their investors and sponsors want from them. And they're not going to risk that, especially when they're already doing great financially.
Going public was the death knell of WWE as a wrestling promotion. |
I never understood the argument that making a product that will be universally enjoyed might piss off the investors.

Still not seeing the disconnect. |
If WWE were to put more focus into making fan pleasing content, they might make more money. However, if they botch it, they could end up losing money. Because as cliche as it may be, the truth is what the fans want isn't always what's best for business. If you're an investor, and WWE is making increasing boatloads of money with their current product, why would you want them to change?
For the fans? Investors don't give a flying fuck about the fans. For wrestling? Investors don't give a flying fuck about wrestling. All Investors care about is the perception of the brand that they've attached their money to. And when I say perception, I don't mean the perception of WWE by a bunch of wrestling fans on the internet. I mean the perception of wall street. |
What is the botch they risk by making the product better?
They’re making money on their library. How does improving the current product risk fucking that up? You’re talking as if “improving the current product” means a bunch of blood, shocking language and corpse-fucking that would please a niche audience but be a PR nightmare. |
Investors want consistency and are afraid of change, unless it's necessary. WWE, bland as it may be to us, is nothing if not consistent. It's just a product to them. As long as it's making money they're not going to want them to change in any way.
It's the same reason why EA continues to release the same $60 sports games every year with little changes despite the cries from hard-core fans that "this is the worst version yet". Because it still makes ungodly amounts of money. If it doesn't need to change, then there's no point in changing it. That's the mentality. Not saying for one minute that I'm happy about it, but that's what it is. |
