Funky Fly 02-09-2011 06:39 AM

Why is that not on current consoles? Now is the time to be busting out the fighting franchises.

Fignuts 02-09-2011 07:59 AM

To be fair, it did have the most boring, shitty character design ever.

Kalyx triaD 02-09-2011 01:14 PM

Didn't Melty Blood come out for-

THAT was Arcana Heart 3, my bad.

A lot of fighters coming out from little known devs. At least two in the last two weeks were announced. But very few are being ported to consoles, and even then they could be Japan only.

The looks, yes. The gameplay, nooooooo.

Also, Kalyx, what was that free fighter you posted a while back that was made with a free online engine or some shit?

Kalyx triaD 02-09-2011 02:36 PM

I think that was Vanguard Princess.

Funky Fly 02-09-2011 02:39 PM

Yup, that would be it.

Kotaku had a preview for the upcoming Duke Nukem game and ended up with both bad and good feelings from the experience.

If compared to modern shooters, the game itself feels very shallow and "bare" against what people are used to Halo and CoD type games for gameplay. The game stands out a lot compared to current shooters (including Bulletstorm).

Their main complaint ended up being stiff animations and bland controls.

If compared to classic style Duke Nukem and the tone of the series, the game itself is very fun and true to its roots. It also keeps the action well and over-the-top like in the previous games of the series.

EA trying one last attempt to salvage the disaster of their horrible last quarter by announcing NBA Jam will arrive on the iPhone in the near future.

The mess EA did with NBA Jam managed to upset a lot of people and might have killed off the revival of Jam as a franchise. Also confirmed to kill off any chance of sales picking up for Xbox 360 and PS3 (and Wii) with the new cheaper iPhone version.

OssMan 02-09-2011 07:56 PM

Fellatio shitstorm

Fignuts 02-09-2011 08:12 PM

Yeah, pretty much what I expected.

I never thought duke nukem was that amazing as a kid. Preferred doom and it's creepy atmosphere, and disturbing imagery to Nukem's cheap low brow humor.

So the nostalgia thing, has no bearing on my opinion of the game.

Always liked the theme song though.

That's not like Link's Crossbow Training at all

News Flash: You Don't Know Jack is amazing. Just got all my old versions up and running too. It has begun again...

lol, enjoy your CoD subscriptions, kids.

Duke sounds like exactly where I want it to be, shallow as fuck. I used to play FPS for a quick laugh and blast which is why I never got into CoD or Halo but totaly adore Timesplitters.

Drakul 02-10-2011 09:25 AM

I've been trying to think of a good way to say exactly what Hasney said. FPS games need to be more like DNF or TS. None of this "serious business" brown and grey generic marine/army guy stuff.

Ermaximus 02-10-2011 09:26 AM

R.I.P. DJ Hero. :'(

SlickyTrickyDamon 02-10-2011 09:51 AM

RIP Guitar Hero

http://blog.games.yahoo.com/blog/374...ero-franchise/

G 02-10-2011 09:55 AM

yes, it's been covered in the thread titled "guitar hero doa"

Ermaximus 02-10-2011 12:56 PM

Could honestly care less about Guitar Hero now, but DJ Hero getting scrapped so early on makes me sad and angry.

Xero 02-10-2011 01:22 PM

I'm sure Rock Band will incorporate a turn table in RB4, probably backwards compatible with the DJ Hero peripheral.

Yeah, have to say I'm still in love with Serious Sam.

Extreme Angle 02-10-2011 05:01 PM

Hoping Rock band now picks up Guitar Hero and sorts something out. Seeing as half of Rock Band created Guitar Hero

Kalyx triaD 02-10-2011 05:06 PM

Would be a nice full circle kind of thing, but the brand is sullied - stay Rock Band, I say.

As was said I'm more hopeful of easier music deals. Perhaps even Metallica track packs.

Atari releases screens for the upcoming Yar's Revenge reboot game that is now a 3rd-person rails type shooter than what the classic Atari 2600 game was in gameplay and style.

Since Atari hasn't said much about the story for the reboot, its expected to have almost nothing related to the original game. Atari is using the series names as a selling point instead of creating a new series or IP for the game.

The game is still set for release on PC, XBLA, and PSN later this year.

Activision announces lower sales expectation and hype for the next Call of Duty game saying sales and interest will be lower than Black Ops.

It doesn't mean the next game will be horrible or no marketing funds will be spent since Activision usually puts lower expectations on non-Modern Warfare games.

OssMan 02-10-2011 09:00 PM

Did they ever make "Band Hero"? So stupid

Kalyx triaD 02-10-2011 09:07 PM

Yes they made Band Hero. Actually one of the better spin-offs.

Metallica full album DLC would rule.

FUCK

Have they said anything about dlc? are they done with that too?

Hope some frets on fire type program comes out for dj hero, cause thats the most fun ive had in a music game in years. ridiculously unerrated product imo.

Kalyx triaD 02-11-2011 04:47 AM

DLC for Guitar Hero and DJ Hero is done. No more. Triple checked.

Fignuts 02-11-2011 04:49 AM

fucking fuck

what about that other dj game? now that dj hero is kaput, can they go ahead with their product?

Kalyx triaD 02-11-2011 04:50 AM

That shit sucked, dude. Don't hold your breath. DJ Hero, functionally, had no peers.

Boomer 02-11-2011 08:36 AM

Kinda glad I never caved on one of those cheap DJ Hero controllers at BB. I played enough to understand that fun could be had, but past that I didn't think it was worth it in the long haul.

:foc: I quite enjoyed DJ Hero sir. It was better than any other music game with a peripheral IMO.

DaveBrawl 02-11-2011 09:03 AM

I think he meant the other DJ game sucked not DJ Hero Ermax.

Kalyx triaD 02-11-2011 10:16 AM

Yes Ermax, calm down.

Razzamajazz 02-11-2011 05:17 PM

my xbox controller finally died after 5+ years of use. 60 fucking dollars for a new wireless one

SlickyTrickyDamon 02-11-2011 05:52 PM

I've been noticing that the boxes for video games seem alot flimsier than they used to be. What is going on with the quality of the boxes? Has anybody else noticed that as well?

Xero 02-11-2011 06:05 PM

It's an environment thing. It's been happening for a while. I've noticed it more with 360 than Wii, though.

They, of course, also have those new boxes with parts of the plastic cut out.
