Rammsteinmad 05-06-2015 05:22 AM

I wanna see a Punisher series similar to Daredevil.

Not interested in Tom Hardy to be honest though. Thought Ray Stevenson was great in War Zone, but he's probably a bit too old now, and he's already featured in the MCU anyway.

The Destroyer 05-06-2015 05:43 AM

He'd probably have to fight Thomas Jane for the part, he still wants to play the character again last I heard.

Kalyx triaD 05-06-2015 06:01 PM

They won't bring back guys to play the same part, even if they did well, to avoid any questions about the MCU. Otherwise they could have kicked off with characters one or two movies in to save time.

The Destroyer 05-07-2015 01:56 PM

whoops, wrong thread

Kalyx triaD 05-13-2015 11:14 PM

Fox is totally doing New Mutants, spun off from the X-Men. Like the comics it will focus on teenage mutants, which means I may finally get X23 on screen. Some guy's directing it. Woohoo

Lock Jaw 05-14-2015 01:39 AM

Meh, not a fan of X-23. I'm all for a New Mutants movie, though....

Sixx 05-16-2015 07:55 AM

Secret Wars sucks so fucking much so far. I know people hated the last few crossovers, but I more or less enjoyed all of them (even Fear Itself had it's moments). This one looks terrible.

All the prologue books were confusing as fuck, the main series 2 issues in is just stupid. Fuck that shit.

Sixx 06-08-2015 07:53 AM

And it just keeps getting worse.

That’s right: not only is Spider-Man now a globe-spanning entrepreneur and inventor — think Tony Stark, but with less alcohol and more angst — he’s also bringing the classic Spider-Mobile back, along with a few other surprises. Peter Parker ended up the owner of Parker Industries, a tech company. Parker is finally figuratively owning his new position in life, having taken Parker Industries and made it one of the leading companies in the world.

Wolverine is dead, X-23 is his clone. She's been around for quite a while now. She just picks up his outfit now.

I hate what Marvel's trying to do, that whole Secret Wars crossover is just absolutely terrible. It's confusing as shit and fuck all those rebooted titles.

I haven't heard about the Spiderman one, though.

Sixx 06-30-2015 03:20 PM

And to answer your initial question they are pretty much rebooting everything now. Universes collided, blah blah blah, you got 50000 different version of the same characters in there now, Thor is not a single person but a Police Force, Hulks are a race, blah blah blah. They are all fighting for who knows what and when it ends we're stuck with all those new, rebooted pieces of shit.

I've always been a Marvel fan, but this is ridiculous. All my favourites are gone, some of those ideas are just retarded. Nah, he's now unworthy after Nick Fury whispered something to his ear at the end of Original Sin. He lost his arm and goes by Odinson now.

Then again he died when the universes collided so who the fuck knows really. Most people died, yet they'll be here after Secret Wars.

Secret Wars: Reality destroyed ... at the end Doom was able to take power save what he could. So Doom is "GoD" with Dr Strange who turned down the chance is Dooms second in command. One life raft just was recovered after being buried for 8 years containing the Cabal while Strange had a raft with a few heros in status

Yes. Now read the tie-ins too. This crossover sucks balls, period.

Blonde Moment 06-30-2015 09:35 PM

Everything sucks balls now with Dc an Marvel. They have spent so much time giving in to everything that the line is a shambles and their readers have so whort of an attention span that they couldn't manage long subplots if they tried. Star Wars is the best Marvel has right now and I ma sure they will screw that up once it is time to shuffle creators again.
Currently spending my money looking for trades on 60 and 70's collections instead.

Wishbone 07-01-2015 12:30 AM

WTH...? If Marvel wanted to fuck everything up and go back to the beginning why didn't they just do a full on reboot like the New 52? This shit is getting way too complicated for someone who just started reading comics a little over a year ago. Almost makes me want to quit reading and go back to just the movies and animation.

Wishbone 07-01-2015 12:32 AM

Although more Old Man Logan does sound kinda cool I guess...

Blonde Moment 07-01-2015 02:29 AM

They tried a full reboot with the Ultimate universe and it didn't quite work imo. Neither compny needs a reboot they just need to losen up on continuity a little, stop killing everyone or turning them into villans and go back to what made them money in the 80's. The problem is that the readers now are pretty similar to the gaming crowd and have no patience to see anything develope.

Kalyx triaD 07-01-2015 03:39 AM

Spider-Gwen is Spider-Woman in-universe but the fans love to say Spider-Gwen.

Ultimate Marvel was good and it was a success for them. But it went downhill, they killed off too many important heroes and it started to suck ass.

I think it was the 90's mentality that got to it but the end result is that it spread to the 616 line and its been nothing but shock and blah since. They need to srop the constant crossovers and readers have to stop beign so picky about continuity and let the editors handle it or not and just deal with it. I could care less about about a female Thor, although the story being told is good or a female Wolverine as long as we get one in a Avengers type movie, as long as the story being told over X+ chapters is just in those titles. Like it used to be waaay back when. Make a crossover special rather then boring and predictable.
Bring back an Anthology type title like Marvel Fanfare or Bizarre Adventures for the stories to be told out of continuity rather than change the continuity itself.

XL 07-01-2015 09:59 AM

This is why I don't read comics.

It's seems impossible to follow anything for any length of time without having to get involved with tie-ins and spin-offs. Probably makes enjoying the movies easier too as I'm not concerned about them being too faithful to the source material.

Why are they just turning people female now?

FemThor is one thing. There is a story behind that, and a good one at that. Even then it was a woman gaining the power of thor, not Thor being a woman now.

This shit is just ridiculous. Marvel Now was a perfctly fine jumping on point for new readers. Stuff like this just makes everything even more confusing.

I dunno. I was skeptical about FemThor and that's been good so far. Guess I'll read Secret Wars and give this a shot.

To be fair the female Wolverine is probably X-23 who is an established character so it's not like they just made Wolverine a chick. However, I kinda feel like making X-23 Wolverine takes away from her rather than builds her up. I mean it makes it seem like she couldn't be important on her own and needed his name to be considered a "real" hero. Would have preferred they just did an X-23 book instead. If they wanted her to fill the boots of Wolverine fine I'm all for that, but she didn't need his name and costume to do that.

Fignuts 07-01-2015 09:08 PM

Agree. She was better as her own character and being the first X-23 rather than the next wolverine.

She was written so good in X-force.

Lock Jaw 07-01-2015 09:57 PM

Got no clue. Seems that Rocket is the leader of the Guardians now though so Fem Star-Lord seems like a waste of space. Honestly I don't see why they felt the need to split Star-Lord from the team anyway.

Kalyx triaD 07-04-2015 01:07 AM

Ava DuVernay will not be doing Black Panther anymore (though really she never signed). Says they didn't see eye to eye, which is almost surely based on whatever social justice undertones I was afraid she was gonna attempt.

I want Marvel to expand their search past black directors. Same with Captain Marvel and female directors. They wanna make this hoopla for press but this is the fourth director who walked from the MCU. Most were different reasons but they can avoid a lot of grief by laying down the ground rules, especially since Joss is gone and they have no 'showrunner' outside of Feige.

Blonde Moment 07-04-2015 04:59 AM

With the Black Panther don't those undertones have to exist for the modern character to be relevant?

Kalyx triaD 07-04-2015 05:14 AM

Yes and no. There are degrees, and I'm pretty sure she wanted to go full blast. That would have compromised the requisite tone of 'The MCU Movie'. Winter Soldier's political thriller and Guardians' space opera are examples of stretching the formula, but they feel like MCU movies. She was not a good choice. Her interview with Essence give hints of the tonal rift. I don't think she'd have time to showcase elements of the larger universe when she probably wanted to use the movie to make some kind of social point.

I was just talking to Khuntry about the fallout and off the top of my head I named a few directors who could merge Black Panther's cultural themes with the action-comedy, mythology of the MCU. Andy Serkis (already in the movie as the villain) and Neill Blomkamp (perfect choice, imo) were some of the top picks for me. As well as John Singleton and, not even kidding, Tyler Perry. These guys could channel Black Panther's unique themes as well as play ball with MCU's guidelines.

When he started being Spiderman in the comics, Aunt May was already old and grey-haired.

Don't think this is the right choice but we will see.

Wishbone 07-08-2015 04:38 PM

She's way too young to be Aunt May, but the MCU has yet to disappoint me so I'm gonna go ahead and give them the benefit of the doubt.

The Rogerer 07-09-2015 03:07 AM

Why was Aunt May really old anyway? Peter Parker was a teen. His parents at that time would have been in their 40s. So his aunt and uncles could have been at their very oldest in their 50s or possibly just barely 60. Still far from being an old doddery grandma.

Blonde Moment 07-09-2015 03:17 AM

60's storytelling and the need for Peter to be raised with Old school sensibilities I would imagine plus taking care of his frail old Aunt May gave Peter something more to worry about than just school, kept him grounded.

A conclusion based on no other character with that headpiece having it in a movie. It's not 'signature' to Remy or anything. The guarantees are the staff, cards, and coat. Bodysuit is wait and see. But certainly no weird headpiece. Even the comics are wavy on it nowadays.

Gambit getting a solo movie is definitely a surprise. I never would have guessed we'd get one truthfully. Especially with how horribly they used him in the Wolverine Origins movie. Is Chaning Tatum confirmed to be playing him?

Sixx 07-12-2015 09:11 PM

Yup. Confirmed.

Huh, wouldn't have been my first pick... Still I guess he might be able to pull it off. I take it we won't be seeing his trademark Cajun accent though. At least I hope not because I don't think Tatum could pull that off lol.

Actually Channing said he's working with somebody to nail the accent. Result quality may vary.

Just read that there's going to be a female version of Blade now too..... Marvel really overdoing it.....

You mean his new daughter, Fallon? She's fuckin awesome.

I just wonder when all the changes to their universe(s) will blow up in their faces and they'll go back to the way things used to be.

Also, I don't think I've ever heard of Blade's daughter.

Leaked Apocalypse trailer. Shitty quality and you can only see half the screen most of the time.

She's new. She's gonna tag along with old Blade for a bit with the intention being her starring in her own series. I love her design and Blade himself will get some action.

I really like Blade, you see.
