Brock vs Braun vs Roman would be gold.

So both of RAW's top titles challengers (Asuka & Reigns) end up getting destroyed after their matches to both of RAW's biggest monster characters (Nia & Braun). Doesn't make either one look strong coming out of this show.

WWE had the chance to call an audible on both title matches and instead stuck with the worst ones possible in terms of crowd interest.

Took #ISG to her first wrestling show (a WWE house show) a couple of weeks ago, and she enjoyed it more than she thought she would, but she was perplexed about the Roman Reigns thing. Like "Why is this guy being positioned as the hero when everyone's booing him? Shouldn't they make the guy people love the face of the company? Isn't that marketing 101?"

Then I showed her Hiromu vs Ospreay from last month and she's hooked, but only NJPW, even after I showed her a few other matches.

That's someone that's only seen wrestling out of the corner of her eye when she's been over here.

I don't know what WWE hopes to accomplish with Roman when it's not appealing to people that have never seen the product before.

He probably views Reigns like what he originally wanted Rock to become during the Rocky Maivia days. It took a lot of convincing by others and Rock himself to get Vince to go in a new direction instead. If Vince had his way, Rock never turns heel and gets forced pushes to become the top star of the late 90s instead of Austin.

Same for why he never wanted to turn Cena since he saw him as the next Hogan. He never bothered to build anyone to be Cena's real equal and panicked whenever Cena's merch sales sagged a bit.

Pretty well done card other than letting rousey speak. Could have easily done the same angle cept have kurt interject when she goes to speak...alas...they shit the bed. Wont hurt the freak show draw at mania but you def have nothing there after.

Just rewatched it and I think HHH/Roman was better. Personally I would rather see Strowman vs Brock just because it feels right. Braun is their most successful attempt at building a superstar and should be in that match instead of Roman.

Also just watched the Lesnar/Strowman match from No Mercy. Thought it was better than the Lesnar/Roman match just because it seemed more balanced. I know that Roman's whole thing is taking the ass kicking and then Hulking up but I don't think it works as well with Lesnar like it did with HHH. Plus Braun and Lesnar just look like they were made to fight one another.

Nah, Lesnar/Reigns wasn't great, but watching Roman get his shit pushed in by a Brock that gave a damn was fun and then the match got good when Seth came out.

We haven't seen that Brock in 2 years now and I don't think Roman will get it out of him.

I thought the Brock vs Reigns match was awesome. They kicked the crap out of each other.

It was better than HHH/Roman, that's for sure.

Lesnar kicked the crap out of Reigns and Reigns just kept laughing. Brock did get some cuts and I think a stiff knee from Reigns that busted his mouth open and then the post spot that really opened him up. Rollins really was the savior of that match.

Disagree as I think that was one of HHHs best WM matches ever.

Reigns laughing made him look like a badass instead of the "face in peril" that should be reserved for the Daniel Bryan types. Not a guy who looks like Reigns.

I'd have to look back through HHH's WM matches (because fuck that, I'm not that bored), but right off the top of my head I'd probably put Vs. Taker in HIAC and Vs. Daniel Bryan above that.

And Rollins coming in to win the title was a pretty shit ending in the grand scheme of things. Made the smarks happy but Rollins is and always was a level below Reigns and another below Lesnar. WrestleMania should end with a bang with one of your top guys. Not a glorified midcarder winning a title. If they weren't gonna stray from Reigns being the guy they should have just grown a pair, said "fuck the marks" and went with it. Or let Lesnar win and started planning for a rematch.

Taker match was probably better and had a better story as well. I'll never rate a Daniel Bryan match high though.

Reigns is a glorified midcarder who for whatever reason is pushed like Cena. He is not that good and has a terrible gimmick. The fan reaction not changing in three years should be recognized by the powers that be, but it's not. Reigns as the top guy hasn't worked and isn't going to until they do a huge over haul of his character and in ring routine. He is boring!

Man you just encapsulated their problem. Roman is probably above everyone on the roster with his main stream appeal and star power... and as "the guy". But he's that ever-so-important notch before Lesnar, which would give him the actual credibility to go on a big run. And I don't think he has what it takes to get there.

He probably doesn't have what it takes to be on Lesnar's level. Booking definitely doesn't help though. Jobbing him and putting him in peril constantly makes him look like an underdog all while they hype him as a world beater. It doesn't make sense. The character is shit.
