Seeing as lucha/cruiser style wrestling has been WWE's weakness for decades outside of some brief moments, shudder to think what WWE's "touch" on Lucha Libre will be.

If its anything like what they planed for NXT Japan, its just going to be them trying to buy out and destroy all the big companies in Mexico and shoehorn the NXT style into another market with the only real difference being a roster mostly full of Hispanic wrestlers.

Triple H already mentioned in the past that his global goal is for the WWE/NXT style to supplant all of the major styles around the world and create a McDonald's like effect for wrestling in general. At least when Vince decided to take over wrestling, he mostly kept it to the US & Canada and American style of wrestling.

Not even stuff like hardcore/deathmatch wrestling will be out of Triple H's cross-hairs since he also mentioned in another past interview about how he wants WWE to eventually be the one who gets to decide which companies are allowed to exist under BS safety and moral excuses that not even WWE is immune from breaking.

I wonder if they'll ever switch to cable ropes. I've heard it's a big complaint from the luchadors/high flyers.

Maybe for NXT Mexico but doubt it for the main roster.

Then again that would just cause its own set of issues since if you call up someone from NXT Mexico to regular NXT or the main roster, they would then need to adjust to working with new ropes.

Impact used to have the problem of wrestlers complaining that the six-sided ring was too stiff compared to the normal rings they used to work in. Only reason they changed it was due to Eric Bischoff at the time thinking the ring was stupid and not being fond of lucha rings.

I'm pretty sure that Lucha Libre primarily makes it's money on tourism and live ticket sales. Kind of the opposite of how WWE makes money now. Would be interesting if they get some big Mexican TV rights deal.

Despite airing on a new night and going head-to-head with Night 2 of NXT TakeOver and GCW's Bloodsport 6 show, Impact's show this week actually managed to increase in viewers and ratings which is pretty cool for them.

Upgraded visuals mainly, not surprising the animation is the same, if the animation already looks good there's not much point redoing it for no reason.

I think its meant to be a dig at 2K Games since if they are reusing the same animations from Yukes' engine, then they might be just as lazy with this year's game development as in the past.

Assuming that's true, then it might also still have the same lingering problems as before despite them having an extra year to work on it.

Graphics actually look better in the 2K20

Said a long time ago this series needed stopped for a while then restarted from scratch, there's a lot of legacy issues that have never really been sorted out, and some of the more ropey looking animations are well over a decade old.

Apparently there was gonna be a 2k21 but it was shelved after 2k20 launched in a half finished state.

Just be interested to see if they've been paying attention to the current product. If i pick goldberg for example if i press punch he should do a spear, if i press kick he should also do a spear, any kind of grapple a spear. Have to try and be a bit faithful to tv after all.

In unrelated news, the on-going Matt Gaaetz congressional scandal could end up dragging some people from WWE/NXT into it based on recent developments involving former WWE/TNA wrestler Matt Morgan and him being associated or pals with NXT ref Drake Wuertz. According to PWI, Major League Wrestling is currently in talks with Discovery for a potential streaming deal for the Discovery+ service.

This would go on top of their other tv and streaming deals and not affect any of their existing deals nor prevent them from signing even more deals in the near future.

Same shit different year. They always stay tight-lipped, even with screenshots and shit like that, then wonder why the game "dives". If they want it to do well, they need to show ACTUAL fucking gameplay before launch, highlighting whatever improvements have been made, if any. Last game I bought was the Ric Flair edition, and it was more for the collectibles than anything else.

If they did that, people would see its the same fucking game with no substantial improvements.

I can't get into WWE games that involve some kind of "performance element". Lets pretend its real instead of acknowledging that it's a work. The last 2k game I played was unplayable for me. I think it was 2017.

2k16 was fun for me because of the Austin showcase (and Terminator pre-order bonus).

2k18 was somehow less fun

So I guess I last enjoyed 2k16.

Playing it has learning curve that's higher than other wrestling games, but its not too hard. Simming and manipulating AI logic on the other hand, is a rabbit hole that goes very, very deep. But it's extremely rewarding when you get good at it.

Playing the 2k games online is more or less pointless, you normally can't connect to a game, and if you do you encounter some lifeless basement dwelling Granny shagger that seems to know the game inside out and you're lucky if you land a hit. From that point on all they do is wear down your limited reversals, and when that happens you may as well disconnect from the game as you're just gonna get smacked around the ring for the rest of the match.

It's rare to get a decent game against someone online, i can probably count on one hand the amount of good games i've had online in this series since it finally made its way to pc.

I remember doing an Elimination Chamber online where 3 guys in the match were in the same party and teamed up to eliminate 2 of the other guys.

I was the 6th entrant. So all 3 of them were stood directly outside my pod, taunting nonstop to get their specials accumulated, and of course the second I walked out of my pod it was a finisher fest and I was eliminated within about 90 seconds and there was not a god damn thing I could do about it. Fucking waste of time.

Seems WWE had a small COVID scare earlier this week since Fightful reported that they were short-handed of talent for this past Monday's episode of RAW.
