Yeah there aren't many examples of this idea working well. I had figured with AEW'S budget they'd have pulled it off though. I lived through WCW I should have known better.

I assume the only reason Fastlane exists is so that WM isn't the live-event guinea pig on Peacock, I can't think of any logical reason to hold a ppv 3 weeks before WM otherwise.

At the height of vaudeville, the bigger theaters used to run "continuous" shows - as soon as a show ended, it would restart again. The idea was that rather than having to arrive at the beginning, you could turn up at any point during the show, and you'd stick around until it looped back round to where you started, so no matter when you arrived you would always witness the entire show.

Can't imagine why I just thought of that.

Supposedly the reason for that is due to Vince junking all the plans they had penciled in beforehand around a couple weeks ago because he wanted to go "bigger" in direction for Mania's debut on Peacock.

Some of the matches planned likely will still happen but having 2 ppvs this year in between Rumble & Mania, Vince pulling a "Vince" in creative, and them wasting valuable weeks on trying to cram in non-Mania feuds is why this year's Road to Mania feels very directionless.

I wouldn't be surprised if either this year's Post-Mania or NXT's debut on Tuesdays or possibly both end up suffering in ratings since that some major burnout WWE is risking with that very packed schedule.

Assuming the HoF event is 3 hours, both nights of Takeover are 2 hours each, and both nights of Mania are 3 hours each, that is around 23 hours of WWE content in the span of a little over a week.

i will watch peacock all week, i hope the hof is longer then 3 hours with 2 years of noms. they can do 2 of them tue since it is all on streaming they can be as long as they want on speeches. i can fast fwd the boring ones.

The WWE is generating content for Peacock. They will be doing more shows than usual. It’s worth $1 billion to them. They are just like extra television shows now. They will have some matches on them. The matches will be fine. Things go on.

You don’t have to like it, but there is no grand reason other than that. Peacock is paying for content.

I don't plan on watching RAW post WM since it's not good and I don't watch SD as is...Tues/Wed could be my nights for wrestling. Anyone else feel similar?

I’ve heard mixed reviews for Peacock for their Premier League coverage. Some say it works fine and others say it is completely unwatchable and lags.

Probably going to end up watching NXT live and catch Impact sometime afterwards in the week like I do with NXT these days.

If it wasn't for the pandemic really limiting the options for tv wrestling for a good while, was going to dump RAW and likely SD after last year's Mania for something else. SD managed to get better to be a keeper but haven't bothered to dump RAW yet out of bad habit.

Everything about NBC and WWE's handling of WWE Network moving to Peacock seems like one big mess and all because both wanted to rush the move in time for Mania.

That recent FAQ released by NBC and recent report from The Verge didn't help either since that led to more growing perception of things being handled poorly.

According to the Observer Newsletter, WWE's current goal for Mania 37 is around 45,000 fans for each night which would be around 70% capacity.

If possible, their max goal would be around 75% capacity or around 48-50k for each night.

Vince and co. need a smack to the back of the head if they try to get that large of a number considering Florida and the rest of the US are still in a pandemic. Way too much risk right now, vaccines or not, to be even considering that large of a crowd in one place.

Yeah I've seen a couple of their Mania weekend shows and they were great as the type to just chill and relax while watching. Also as a nice break from the usual overload of wrestling going on that week.

Mainly due to the ad rates for wrestling shows generally being very low compared to other sports and entertainment shows. Took a ton of work by NBC just to convince a few higher level advertisers to purchase ad spots and sponsor WWE shows in recent years. Even then, NBC and USA Network are still been bleeding a ton of ad money with their WWE deals.

Even during WWE's height in the Attitue Era, they still struggled to get real high paying advertisers on board. Mostly due to wrestling's decades old bad rep with advertisers who mostly saw it mainly as just catering to the lowest denominator of customers in terms of purchasing power.

Its why NBC now wants NHL games on Wednesdays instead of NXT shows since the tradeoff for average viewership is nothing compared to the big increase in ad rates they would get in return.

It feels like they are going for the whole "shaky cam" that video games can sometimes do well. Shit, might even go over better if it was edited in. I dunno man, but its fucking horrible.

If I remember correctly, its supposed to be inspired or resemble films when the action gets very hectic or frantic and the camera starts moving all over the place to convey it.

Biggest difference is movie producers know how to shoot that type of scene way better than Dunn and they don't do it throughout the entire film whenever any action happens. Same for when it comes to rapid camera cuts that WWE is obsessed with these days.

Current rumor going around is that NXT got hit with another COVID outbreak recently.

A bunch of utter morons running and working in NXT these days since that's been way too many times an outbreak hit that brand.

They've been trying to be "cinematic" for a long time, and blockbuster movies have been doing too much of that shit. It's still annoying when it's stylistically done for narrative reasons (such as being "found footage" where the movie/show was supposedly shot with a cell phone or hand cam). WWE just does it to "create action" where there already is action and "be cool" when it's just seizure inducing movement for movement's sake. Video games have actually (unfortunately) copied that philosophy as well, and fill cutscenes with blurry, shaky cam because its supposedly stylistic.

I guarantee if most of the highest grossing films from the last 20 years went crazy with the "Scorsese stretch", WWE would be trying to do that for EVERY reaction shot of a person in the ring being "surprised" by a return or upset victory or someone appearing on the Titantron.

Debatable. There are directors/producers in love with it about as much as Dunn. I'm surprised they haven't pulled a JJ Abrams by adding way too many lens flares to the mix and make the shows totally unwatchable. It's not like it's above them, since the whole Thunderdome setting allows them to go back to using the shitty "flying CGI" for entrances that aren't there for live crowds. Now EVERYONE can see how stupid it looks (except themselves, of course).
