Ive actually never played suikoden but have been thinking of trying them out. I've only heard good things for the most part.
Right now I'm actually finishing up Chrono Cross. Can't believe I never played it until now considering Trigger is one of my 2 favorite games ever. |
Open world, proper RPG style.
5 was open world map too. McDohl would show up, as would Yuber and Persmerga. I think most of the true Runes make you immortal. I could be wrong though (I think that was mentioned in three, because Geddoe was supposed to be older than he appeared, wasn't he?) Star Dragon Sword would still be around. Not to mention you could easily have some other characters who up because of Vicki. Hell, part of the story could be an older Vicki, having mastered her powers, able to take you back in time at certain points and collect some people... Which would be a great way to finish the Victor and Flik saga, and explain why they were absent in 3. |
I still need to play 5.. Sold the PS2 I had tho because I didn't want to spend 15 bucks for a new controller for a console I had no games to play lol.
|
5 does some things amazingly well. For example, all characters have a pre-fight pose and a post fight pose, some of which are more awesome than others. For example, one character has his sword sheathed at his side prior to the fight, and his pre-fight pose, instead of pulling the sword out, is yanking the sheath backwards and throwing it off to the side.
There's just a lot of little details that made the game great. BUT, the main character is REALLY effeminate. |
Just happy at all the Suikoden talk going on right now.

Sell. Get 3DSXL.
...Or get Gravity Rush. |
Gravity Rush or Uncharted or Escape Plan. Not many great games yet.

I have a 3ds.
I got all of those games but uncharted. i also got table top tanks, mortal kombat, katamari, all for a really good price. Plus I got warriors persona and persona 2 and the beatinator which was an awful choice |

According to a recent leak from the official Ubisoft forums, Ubisoft is considering another reboot for their Prince of Persia franchise with this time being potentially influenced by the Assassin's Creed series.
Years ago Ubisoft was rumored to be considering rebooting the franchise under the codename of "Prince of Persia Zero" before it was cancelled and replaced with the cell-shaded 2008 Prince of Persia game. The new leak suggests another attempt at PoP Zero, this time nicknamed "Prince of Persia Zero 2", is currently in the making with the leaked screen showing off the code name. People are already suggesting the new Prince of Persia game will be heavily influenced by the Assassin's Creed series based on the screen shots leaked with a lot of concern coming from the official forums over the potentially new direction. Ubisoft has yet to respond to the leak at the moment. http://www.screwattack.com/sites/def...ebootrumor.jpg http://d1vr6n66ssr06c.cloudfront.net...12/08/0047.jpg http://www.screwattack.com/news/rumo...e-persa-reboot http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...-2-screenshot/ _____________________________________________________________ Daily Recap: 1) Update to EA suing Zynga as Zynga claims EA themselves are also copycats with claims of The Sims Social being a copy of Zynga's own CityVille. http://www.destructoid.com/ea-vs-zyn...o-232634.phtml http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...ginal-pokemon/ (Ignore the link name since EGMNow goofed up a bit) 2) Similar to the idea behind Nintendo Selects, Sony announces they have started a new series for their first party games called "Playstaion Collections" with the God of War Saga and Infamous Collection as the first two sets available and a $30 price tag for each. http://www.screwattack.com/news/play...tles-necessity http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...s-collections/ 3) New screens and details were revealed for Darksiders II with a Horde-like Arena mode consisting of 100 waves with rewards carrying over to single player and a full New Game+ mode which allows all equipment and items to be carried over for a new playthrough. http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...plus-features/ http://www.siliconera.com/2012/08/06...es-of-enemies/ |
Some crossover elements? Would be interesting.
|
Well considering the original Assassins Creed was planned to be a P.o.P game originally but slowly took out the prince element. I can definitely see them using the same sort of gameplay.
|
Ubisoft should have had a sequel to the reboot that had the beautiful graphics out already.
The fuck are they waiting for? |
Forgot to mention Ao2. What this series does not need is a more "gritty" tone.

According to a recent announcement by Game Informer and a few rumors, a huge announcement will occur during the upcoming Gamescom expo.
The announcement might be the official debut of Half-Life 3 after Game Informer reveals they are not allowed to show a preview of their upcoming issue's cover since it would spoil the "world premeier" announcement. Also contributing to the rumors of the announcement being Half Life 3 is due to Game Trailers who stated they have a special trailer video dedicated to just Valve which will occur on September 16 or 17. The announcement is expected to occur during the EA press conference which also is a publisher for Valve games on consoles. Quote:

A couple of Battlefield related news as the series celebrates its 10 year anniversary today and Battlefield 4 will stay in the modern setting.
During the ongoing 2012 Game Developer Conference, the general manager of DICE, Karl Magnus Troedsson, revealed the Battlefield series turned 10 years old today with about 50 million games sold in the entire series. Battlefield 3 alone accounts for 12 million of the series total sales. Troedsson also revealed Battlefield 4 will be taking place during the modern day just like Battlefield 3. So far the only other details known about the game is a release date of late 2013 is currently being planned for the game. Quote:

During the Sony press conference at Gamescom today, the company revealed a brand new game which will rely heavily on the PS Move.
The game is called "Until Dawn" and is essentially similar to teen horror and slasher style films in terms of gameplay and story. 7 playable characters with the goal of the player to keep them all alive for a whole night even though they are being chased in the woods by an unknown killer. Supermassive Games was revealed as the developer for the game who previously worked on Tumble and Start the Party for the PS Move. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/rOiSosEiNyE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...le-until-dawn/ http://www.destructoid.com/panty-sho...d-233095.phtml ______________________________________________________________ Daily Recap: 1) Activision announces the PS3 version of Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD will be arriving on August 28 with a PC release date expected to be announced in the near future. http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...playstation-3/ 2) To help boost sluggish Vita sales one more time, Sony announces the "buy a PS3 game and get the Vita version free" promotions will now fall under the "Cross Buy" label with the upcoming PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, or Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault all available to be free on the Vita if the PS3 version is bought for each. http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...pcoming-games/ http://www.destructoid.com/cross-buy...e-233079.phtml |

At Gamescom, EA re-announces a new Command & Conquer game is being development and is being done by Bioware who teased they were working on a game for the series months ago.
Titled as "Command & Conquer", the game follows the same RTS style as past games in the series while also using the free-to-play model. In terms of content, the first content piece available at launch will be based on the Generals 2 game with more "universes" to be added in the future such as the Red Alert and Tiberium settings. The game itself runs on the Frostbite 2.0 engine while Bioware Victory studio is working on the project. A closed beta will be available in the future with official signups to occur at the game's official webpage. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/-9zVjFcpjeA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> http://www.screwattack.com/news/gene...ommand-conquer http://www.joystiq.com/2012/08/15/co...ree-to-play-c/ _____________________________________________________________ Daily Recap: 1) The Last Story's US launch has been delayed again to now an August 17 date due to shipping errors from Gamestop and other retailers. Amazon themselves state it might take up to 3 weeks more for their orders to be delivered to consumers. http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...pping-it-late/ 2) Another "LA Noire" fiasco appears to be occurring at Vigril Games after complaints of the studio purposely left out names of several people from the Darksiders II credits list. It appears the debut of "Mann vs Machine" mode for Team Fortress 2 most likely was the special announcement which occurred well before EA's press conference. |
Haven't played Command & Conquer in a looooooooong time. I got Generals and it can't run on my rig anymore. If Chris Taylor would pull his head out of his ass and fix the disaster that was SupCom 2, I'd be slowly getting back into the RTS swing of things.

According to several sites and sources, OnLive could be facing bankruptcy and shutting down soon with several sites stating their sources reveal layoffs are currently happening at the company.

According to Ubisoft, piracy has been such a problem for them on the PC that they are dropping their current PC model in order to enter the free-to-play model.
The company blames piracy for all the problems they have encountered with the platform stating they have suffered close to a 95% piracy rate and they are barely making any money from the games released on the PC. While they are not expecting a larger percentage of people to suddenly buy their games once they become free-to-play, the company did state it will provide more long term revenues. According to their data, only 5-7% of all users in the free-to-play model actually pay to unlock everything which is roughly the same percentage of users who don't pirate PC games. Quote:

Of course they didn't take any blame. They were too busy with the bullshit figures they're ass-pulling.

While "all-digital" may be the future, I doubt we'll be seeing it in the next ten years. We're slowly reaching the end of what our current infrastructure will allow, and nobody wants to upgrade. This is why we have bandwidth caps, throttling, etc.

I dunno, 5 years I reckon...

Some news regarding Peter Molyneux's game called "Curiosity" as the game has been delayed and will be getting a name change.
22 Cans studio announces the game has been delayed after missing its initial release date schedule but the good news is the delay will only be for a couple of weeks. The new release date is now set for a TBA September date with the actual date to be announced in the near future. To make up for the delay, a new trailer was released for the game. The other piece of news is the game's name will now be changed although the reason is not due to trademark or delay issues but instead of the game no longer being the top preferences on Google. According to Molyneux, the decision was due to NASA's Curiosity rover landing on Mars which has taken over as the preferred status for the word on Google's search engine. He did state the company is currently accepting name suggestions from tweets sent to their Twitter account. Quote:

Update the previous news of a sequel to the rpg game of The World Ends With You as Square-Enix officially reveals the game a few days before the countdown was meant to end.
The official reason for the early announcement according to Square-Enix was due to their online store accidentally spoiling the debut when they posted the official soundtrack for the new game. The game will arrive on iOS devices after also accidentally being leaked by the online store before it was taken down. While only a few details were revealed, Square-Enix is still waiting for the actual countdown to end before unveiling everything about the project. http://bulk.destructoid.com/ul/233719-header.jpg http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...more-in-store/ http://www.destructoid.com/the-world...s-233719.phtml _______________________________________________________________ Daily Recap: 1) Achievement list for Fable The Journey was recently leaked with the majority based on Arcade Challenge mode, story progressions, and killing. http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...list-revealed/ 2) A recent patent filed by Sony appears to be an updated version of a previous patent where commercials would interrupt a game mainly during loading screens. The new patent suggests Sony could be considering in the future on having interactive ads where the commercial itself acts as a mini-game and would be available over a variety of media devices and apps. http://www.destructoid.com/sony-pate...s-233711.phtml http://www.computerandvideogames.com...mes-in-tv-ads/ 3) The first non-ad sponsored free-to-play game on Xbox Live Arcade will be arriving this Fall called "Happy Wars" which is being described as an MMO class-based real-time brawler. http://www.screwattack.com/news/xbla...appy-wars-fall http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/20...ee-this-autumn |
Dunno why Sony can't just do in-game advertising.
I remember I popped in Mercenaries 2 in my 360 after sitting around for a long time and I drove by billboards hyping that new show "Chase" on NBC. Granted it's canceled now, but it was still pretty cool by my standards. |
Because people weren't giving them enough revenue for scenery.

Peter Molyneux revealed what the new name for Curiosity will be and I believe he didn't bother to use any of the names from Twitter (probably a good thing).
The game is now called "Curiosity: What’s Inside the Cube?" |
We all know where this is going.
