USA Today is reporting A-Rod won't be facing a suspension but instead a lifetime ban now that he's pulled out of all negotiations with MLB. Also confirms earlier speculation that he was indeed the person who tried to bribe the clinic owner to get all his documents pulled and destroyed.

According to Peter Gammons, the choice was between the Red Sox and Os for the trade deal. Brewers took the Os deal.

RoXer 07-23-2013 10:37 PM

What's a good website to compare head to head records over the entire lifetime of two franchises?

Frank Drebin 07-23-2013 10:39 PM

farmersonly.com

No chance A-Rod gets a lifetime ban. I'd see him getting 100 games at the most.

Bad News Gertner 07-23-2013 11:23 PM

God damn Blue Jays

Frank Drebin 07-23-2013 11:49 PM

At least Ricky Romero look like he's turned a cor.......never mind.

Damian Rey 07-23-2013 11:54 PM

Highly doubt ARod gets the Pete Rose ban, here. 100 seems like it might be out of the question if he either sued or really pushed the issue. Having your name on a piece, or pieces, of paper isn't evidence. Braun had actually failed a drug test. ARod has not. He did admit to PED use, but that's not failing a test. I don't see MLB having a strong case here if ARod puts up a fight and shoves back.

Hahaha poor Ricky. Didn't make it out of the second inning last night

Frank Drebin 07-24-2013 12:09 AM

He's gonna be the next Scott Kazmir / Dontrelle Wills type. The guy who eventually gets cut by half the league.

The Condor 07-24-2013 09:32 AM

Gyroball: The answer to Ricky Romero's problems.

The Condor 07-24-2013 10:42 AM

Jason Grilli to the DL. Might be a very big loss for the Pirates, but I think Melancon can carry the load in the interim.

I think they're going with the fact that A-Rod tried to hide documents/tampering with evidence/being A-Rod.

DaveBrawl 07-24-2013 11:36 AM

It's kind of sad/funny how A-Rod has gone from the all American squeaky clean face of baseball on pace to break the evil Barry Bonds homerun record through hard work and ability alone, to potentially being banned for life in like 2 or 3 years.

He was always a cheating cunt. Yelling at that 3rd Baseman to drop the pop-up and swatting the glove out of Arroyo's hand. Although if he gets a lifetime ban it's only because they want to nail his balls to the wall because they couldn't get shit on Barry Bonds.

screech 07-24-2013 02:11 PM

Why do you think him yelling at the 3B was cheating?

Triple Naitch 07-24-2013 08:21 PM

I'm trying to decide when A-Rod made his heel turn. Was it when he left Seattle for the largest contract ever with a division rival? Was it when he told the Rangers they can't win and demanded a trade even though he took up half the payroll? Was it the swat on Bronson Arroyo?

Triple Naitch 07-24-2013 08:24 PM

Probably when this was taken.

When he opted out of his deal DURING the World Series and suckered Cashman into giving him that insanely bad contract.

McLegend 07-24-2013 08:45 PM

Poor Cashman.

McLegend 07-24-2013 08:45 PM

i love every A-Rod story

I'll never forget that. Just a few outs away from the World Series being over. "Alex Rodriguez has announced that he will opt out." what a tool.

Though to A-Rod's credit he did say Boras made that announcement without consulting him and regrets it.

It was definitely before that.

Emperor Smeat 07-24-2013 09:33 PM

Could also blame Fox Sports as well for that debacle since they were the ones in charge of showing the World Series that year and wasted no time making the announcement once Boras sent it. Had ESPN or anyone else not showing the game revealed the announcement, it probably wouldn't have been ridiculed as hard as it was because Fox did it.

Could swear he had another heelish moment between the Rangers era and 1st year with the Yanks involving him ridiculing other players on their lack of free time and the backlash from those players who stated they had kids to take care of unlike him.

Evil Vito 07-24-2013 10:36 PM

OH GOD Eric Young Jr. just murdered Tim Hudson's ankle :( That didn't look good

Boomer 07-24-2013 11:54 PM

It's fractured. Out for the year :(

At least it wasn't an ACL tear?

road doggy dogg 07-25-2013 12:34 AM

Being a starting pitcher has got to be the most goddamn frustrating thing in all of sports sometimes.

Strasburg's line today: 8.0 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 12 K..... and a loss.

Maybe it isn't an illegal play but it's a bitch move. He's a bitch. He deserves everything he gets and more.

Totally agreement on Clock on the opting out deal. His team doesn't even make the playoffs because he didn't play great and Torre is blamed and fired.

Even though he's been a Mets killer for seemingly his entire Braves tenure, I hope this doesn't spell the end for Hudson's career at age 38. Would be such a shitty way for anybody to go out, much less Hudson who's always come across as a nice guy along with being well respected.

Had the same thought. May be his final pitch for Atlanta too...I'm not sure he fits into the Braves' plans long-term considering the logjam of starters we are having. Maybe he'll come back on a quasi-hometown discount...I doubt that's how he wants to go out.

That play was hilarious, though. He's still a shithead, and was before the opt out, but that play shouldn't be a main reason why.

The Condor 07-25-2013 01:33 PM

Yeah.... So the national sports media is really latching on to this A-Roid stuff.

ClockShot 07-25-2013 02:01 PM

Cubs gave Fonzie 2-3 days to approve the trade to the Yankees.

No word yet on who the Yankees got to go over in exchange.

Emperor Smeat 07-25-2013 03:09 PM

According to the Biogenesis clinic's whistle-blower, expect more leagues to consider getting their hands on those documents once the stuff with MLB is done. The actual list of clients the clinic has includes almost every major sport in the US and has people who've been clients for years.

Quote:

Porter Fischer, the former Biogenesis of Miami clinic employee who turned boxes of documents over to the Miami New Times last year, declined to name the athletes. But in his first television interview, Fischer told "Outside the Lines" that numerous sports had at least one athlete that received performance-enhancing drugs from clinic founder Tony Bosch.

"This isn't a 2013 thing or a 2012 thing; some of these people have been on the books since 2009," Fischer said.

Fischer said he and associates have identified athletes from the NBA, NCAA, professional boxing, tennis and MMA, in addition to other professional baseball players who have not yet been identified. As far as he knows, he said, Bosch had no clients from the NFL or NHL.
