Used Cars - 7/10
little seen 1980 comedy from Kurt Russell I really liked this |
The Help - 9/10
One Day - 6/10 Red Dawn - 4/10 |
Avengers 8/10
excellent effects, characters were good, story made sense I felt like it was missing a major revelation, some sort of point or philosophical meaning. Great movie though. |
Men In Black 3. It really did have that deja vu subplot of Back To The Future series.. And the ending, I really liked how Agent J came to be in the year 1969. Damn, it was too touchy and emotional. I won't spoil it. Even though it's no match for the 1st one, I liked it a bit.
7/10. |
Reindeer Games - 7/10
Driving Miss Daisy - 7/10 |
Fast 5 - 7/10
X-Men: First Class - 8/10 |
Better Off Dead - 6/10
So '80s. Loved it. |
Legendary - 4/10
I was going to give this movie a 1, but the ending saved it and is worth 3 points. Other than that, bad story, bad script, and other than Patricia Clarkson and Danny Glover, bad acting. Although I'm not really a Danny Glover fan, I just want to give him credit blah blah blah. The Warriors Way - 13/10. Fucking loved this. Every minute of it. It was a "save all the action until the end" movie and the director knew the right time to do it at. Also, during the final battle scene, the score really brings up the enjoyment rating. This movie is another reason why I want to work in film. |
In Time - 5/10. Had a fair bit of hope based on what seemed like a strong premise, but ultimately it didn't deliver much. None of the cast stood out as being particularly strong and the story just seemed to plod along in a barely-interesting series of mostly dull dialogue. With a few tweaks and better cast this could have been a very good sci-fi film.
|
Drive - 7/10. Solid story without doing anything groundbreaking and a good cast who played everything right, but there just seemed to be some missing element to me. Great soundtrack.
|
that scene where he stomps the dudes head in is fucking awesome though
would probably give it a 9 based 100p on that, also spoiler alert kind of |
The Dictator gets a solid 7/10 for me.
|
Barbershop - 9/10
|
Harlem Nights
7/10 |

Fucking awesome!! Much better than Tarantino's Basterds. And the ending is almost similar to Dr. Strangelove. :p Best parts is when the UN leaders argued with the female president who looks Sarah Palin-ish about craving for Helium 3 as the source of the power supply. SPOILER: show I almost felt having lots of giggles of the love triangle between a blackie and a hottie SS woman.. The Nazis even tried bleaching the black guy into a fucking pure whitey Nazi.. Michael Jackson reference anyone? Really fun fun movie.. Nerdgasm overload of the awesome steampunk gadgets of their spaceships and a super flying fortress that requires cellphone USBs. Yes, you heard it just to make the engines work! lol 10/10. P.S. There's one fave liner from the Sarah Palin-ish president that really struck true in the real world today: "Wars ALWAYS make popular presidents get re-elected again." |
Cabin in the Woods - 4/10
|
Whatttttttttt. Cabin in the Woods was amazing.

Beautiful but a very sad movie that made me get a Kleenex tissue box.. Spanish version of A.I. and Bi-Centennial Man only slightly better. . :( SPOILER: show The scientist guy even had a robotic cat and a butler too. It's also quite creepy when robots get emotional especially on the aggressive side much like in Terminator TV series and A.I. movie. 9/10. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/MVpJcJlEF6c" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

Can't believe it took me so long to watch. Had it on Bluray for over a year and just never got around to it then either. Fucking amazing.
|
Great movie. One of the best gangster films.
|
True Grit - 7/10. John Wayne version. I prefer John Wayne over Bridges, but prefer Damon over Campbell and Steinfeld over Darby.
Puss In Boots - 5/10 |
Iron Sky 3/5. It was well done yet over all rather pointless. Not enough national socialist ass kicking and some watered down social commentary. Yet it was a lot better than what it could have been and it is certainly watchable and enjoyable. Check it out if you are bored and need something more bubnlegum flavored.
Videodrome 4/5. Possibly 5/5 but time must tell on this one. It was deep and thought provoking. Always keeping you involved in the story with new things. It seems harder to understand in some respects, harder to get through. I do prefer eXistenZ (1999) to Videodrome in nearly every way. James Woods delivered what might be the best performance of his life. |
The Lady In Black - 8/10
|

Charlize Theron as the evil queen is still fairest of them all and will always be MY lovely queen celeb.. Kristen Stewart as Snow White is a-ok despite sometimes I look at Bella Swan everytime she talks.. Damn you Twilight. :p There's even a huge reference to the Disney cartoon where they walk into the forest full of animals and the fairies looked like cute Fern Gully cartoonies with a mixture of Gollum-ish on their faces!! As for the 7 dwarves, ha, they're like the LOTR's kick-ass characters in this one. And there's even one scene where brief nudity from the evil queen transforming herself into a Terminator-ish T-1000 black blob liquid to become another person or a flock of ravens much like Dracula would do. And yes, there's even a nod to the poison apple story in it.. All in all, I REALLY enjoyed it despite Kristen is almost wooden in the 2nd half. The evil queen herself aside from transformation powers, she has a habit of stealing the young girls youth by sucking their life force out... Man, she's chewing every damn scene throughout.. I wouldn't mind owning this on DVD just cos well, Charlize will forever be the fairest of them all. The backstory of the queen's wicked powers is a bit half-baked but fair enough. Still, I liked it for what it was.. Hell, this is much more watchable than Twilight. Queen Ravenna FTW! 8/10. |
Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance - 0/10.
The Grey - 9/10. Loved the first half hour, hated the middle, then it got great again. The ending could have been slightly better. It they showed Liam Neeson and the wolf charging at each other instead of it just fading on Neeson then it would have been a more epic shot and a better indication that they are going to fight each other and you should highlight the black to read it. |

I could quote this movie forever. |
Hilariously bad... I was LMAO the part where the girl says, "Josh cut off his penis cos something came out of my vagina!!!" LOL.. I feel bad for The Doc from Back to the Future to be featured on this.
6/10. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SrdOzcRNPe...21%2B15.23.jpg |
Men In Black 3 - 8/10
Pritty fucking good. Really glad I saw it in theater. Was solid all the way through. |
Project X - 8/10
|
Snow White and The Huntsman: 6.5/10. Fantastic FX and art design, and Chris Hemsworth is a legitimate movie star. Kristen Stewart still refuses to act, but Charlize Theron saves her by doing enough overacting for 3 people.
|
Project X - 8.5/10
I guess Juan didn't like the tits as much as me. |

Immortals - 3/10
21 Jump Street - 7/10 Project X - 8/10. This was a hell of a lot better than I thought it would be. |
Men in Black 3 - 80
The Dictator - 44 |
Just came back from seeing Prometheus in 3-D!!! Yes, it's totally right up there with the 1st Alien classic. The whole movie and scene for scene is almost reminiscent. Even the heroine quoted Ripley's one liner in the final moments!! And there's even a brief argument of Creationism subplot as well about where and why humans came to exist.. WELCOME BACK TO THE ALIEN WORLD, RIDLEY!!!!! The face huggers resembled a bit like fish with no eyes ala lampreys... Talk about evolution too. As for the Engineers, I truly understand of how that 1st alien ship made its debut in the classic one. Wouldn't mind seeing it again.
As for David the robot, I dunno much about him except he remains a shady character. I refuse to spoil of what happened of how the infection began in the ship!! Go see it. 10/10. |

I was going to make an entire thread on this just to keep my own notes and for my own entertainment. I still might. But for now...
Been watching films from the imdb top 250 list that I haven't seen before. Hoping to eventually get round to seeing them all. Not doing it in any order, not even solely picking ones that I'm interested in the most, I'm mixing it up quite a bit. The last few... Star Trek (2009) 6.9/10 - Was alright, I guess a bunch of nods to the older stuff might have been lost on me but it was still pretty good, nothing ground-breaking though. Kept me entertained throughout. Le Notti di Cabiria aka Nights of Cabiria (1957) 1.8/10 -Dreadful film. Plodding plot and poor acting. Not sure why it's on the list. The Prestige (2006) 8.7/10 - Thoroughly enjoyed this film. The non-linear narrative worked really well with the reveals of certain events being interesting and giving earlier parts of the story more meaning. Thought the entire cast was really good, Hugh Jackman had a little more to his performance than his usual Hugh Jackman-ness and was right up there with Bale and Caine. Persona (1966) 7/10 - The cinematography used throughout this film was excellent and the two actresses portrayed their parts well enough to get the message of duality across pretty well. The plot jumped all over the show at times but that was very much intentional when you grasp the whole nature of the film. The subtitles were a bit off a lot of the time though. |
I  The Prestige

Gone - 7/10
Psycho remake - 2/10 Haywire - 6/10. Gina Carano. Don't mess with her. |
Journey 2: The Mysterious Island 6/10
John Carter 9/10 |
Men in Black 3: 8/10
|
Picking up on James Bond movies again from where I left off...
The Spy Who Loved Me 9/10 I really enjoyed this one. Jaws is ridiculous, but awesome at the same time. Also, the rest of the story was pretty good too. |
Saving Private Ryan - 8/10
Red-Eye (Rachel McAdams Is hot) - 5/10 |
Hellboy II - 4/5
It was fun. That princess chick was cute in a monster thing way. Speed Racer - 5/5 The most feel good thing I seen in a while. I can talk for a long time about what I loved about this purposefully cheesy very animated movie, but I won't. I loved this movie and fucking teared up at the climax. A great twist on the 'sports movie', a great anime adaptation, a nice family movie, very stylish, and again a feel good movie. |

All 3 of The Lord of the Rings movie - Eh. I'm not really feeling them.
|
English dub of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (1984) - 7/10 Was an entertaining little film. Nice plot that wasn't afraid to break the mould of PG films a bit. I recognised Patrick Stewart's voice in this instantly and that woman whose name I can't remember who does a bunch of voices on The Simpsons and Futurama (her character had basically the exact same voice as 'Mom' from Futurama), but after looking it up on wiki I never realised how many well known actors are in it, Uma Thurman, Shia LaBeouf, Edward James Olmos, Mark Hamill. I might have to watch it again.
|
Deadfall
this movie was so so bad; that it's fucking hilarious Nic Cage what the hell were you thinking |
Deadfall.
|
I recently watched The Warriors for the first time. I enjoyed it. Probably a 7/10.

24: Season 8.
Haven't finished it yet but first time watching it on dvd and not on tv. |

House (1977, Japan).
Craziest movie I ever saw. I played a drinking game where I took a shot after any scene that made no fucking sense. I quit the game after I threw up. I owe myself 9 shots. In other words, I'm making this post completely fucking wasted. From what I can recall, it's awesome. It is incredibly awesome, but do NOT make a drinking game out of it. You WILL die. Truth be told, I think Colin Mochrie's son does a better job of reviewing this movie than I could possibly dream of in my current state. Luke Mochrie, discussing this movie.. |
The Game - 7/10.
Silent Trigger - 2/10. I was told this movie was a tolerable movie by Lundgren. Thor - 8/10. Not really what I expected. Great movie except for the fact that Thor has a heart and wants to fall in love. If he cared less for Natalie Portman, which IS hard to do, he'd be a true warrior. |
Thor falling in love is a mark against the movie?
|
To me, yeah. It's a movie cliche and proves that he's human. Every movie (obviously there are exceptions) seems to have the main character falling for some girl. Be original.
I did like the closing shot of him looking down for her, though. |
Well the humanity within him is a point of the character, I think, as well as identifying with that.

Safe House - 53

The Sitter - 6/10 some funny stuff but pretty meh.
The Goon - 7.5/10 Actually alot better than i expected, full of semi famous folk i kinda recognize from other movies/tv shows and for once Sean William Scott wasn't just playing Stifler. |
Little Miss Sunshine - probably an 8/10, quite enjoyed it.
|
Snow White and The Huntsman 6/10
too long and Kristen Stewart is ugly. |

The Children - 5/10 Dodgy British horror film where children go crazy and start killing their parents. Not great. |
