well she has to be asgaurdian or have powers because she went to the moon to pick up the hammer

Nowhere Man 10-21-2014 11:03 AM

Well, I mean, she could be a mutant or an Inhuman or something. Doesn't necessarily mean she's an Asgardian.

Reavant 10-21-2014 12:23 PM

yes.... having powers encompasses those groups

Fignuts 10-22-2014 10:43 AM

Carol Danvers?

ClockShot 10-27-2014 04:49 PM

Benedict Cumberbatch is YOUR go-to guy for all things supernatural and sorcery. Doctor Steven Strange.

Read some time ago that he said there's no way this is happenning, cause of scheduling conflicts.

Jura 10-27-2014 05:06 PM

I read that it's just a rumor right now. I still prefer Joaquin Phoenix after I saw him in her.

Kalyx triaD 10-27-2014 07:35 PM

One report is confirming that he actually took the role. SuperHeroHype could be jumping the gun, but they're not known for being explosively wrong like that.

ClockShot 10-27-2014 07:49 PM

Read it on the front page of imdb.com.

That's as good a source as anything for movies.

McLegend 10-27-2014 09:11 PM

I love Benedict Cumberbatch so I'm on board with this.

Kalyx triaD 10-28-2014 02:41 PM

Looking for confirmations and sources.

Captain America: Civil War -- May 6, 2016

Doctor Strange — Nov. 4, 2016.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 — May 5, 2017

Thor: Ragnarock — July 28, 2017

Black Panther — Nov. 3, 2017

Avengers: Infinity War (Part I) — May 4, 2018

Captain Marvel — July 6, 2018

Inhumans — Nov. 2, 2018

Avengers: Infinity War (Part II) — May 3, 2019

Lock Jaw 10-28-2014 02:49 PM

The report I have seen doesn't mention Inhumans, but checks out with the rest.

These were all more or less announced already.

Lock Jaw 10-28-2014 02:57 PM

Not really. Wildly speculated on is different than confirmed.

Comic Book Resources article doesn't mention Inhumans, but Newsarama's less detailed one does.

Find it "interesting" that the two movie between the two Avengers flicks are "sci fi"/"space" in nature. Wonder if they will tie in with the story, or if Infinity War will be self contained.

Lock Jaw 10-28-2014 03:00 PM

CBR has now edited Inhumans into their article

Lock Jaw 10-28-2014 03:11 PM

I still kind of want an Iron Man 4 that will pick up from the All Hail the King One-Shot. Final battle against the real Mandarin/Ten Rings.

Also still really want a Black Widow solo film... but looks like Carol Danvers will get the honour of being the first leading lady in a solo film.

Kalyx triaD 10-28-2014 03:17 PM

Tony, T'Challa, and Steve!

KalyX mentions he's looking for confirmations, so that would mean these are still NOT confirmed.

Kalyx triaD 10-28-2014 03:30 PM

When I posted the list that was me saying this shit is real.

Kalyx triaD 10-28-2014 03:31 PM

There's some kind of pic or footage of Thanos with the gauntlet.

Kalyx triaD 10-28-2014 03:33 PM

Fucking thank you, Marvel.

Sixx 10-28-2014 03:40 PM

Curious about Civil War.

They gonna cram all the Avengers and everyone else into a Cap movie (which still is only a small percent of heroes from the comic book CW)?

No idea how's that gonna work, but looking forward to seeing how they do it. Haven't let me down so far.

Kalyx triaD 10-28-2014 03:55 PM

As I said before, the scale will be different but the basic premise will remain. It's not about how many heroes were involved.

Sixx 10-28-2014 04:07 PM

Well, if it's only Cap vs Iron Man it's not much of a war.

Kalyx triaD 10-28-2014 04:17 PM

You're too apt to believe something called Civil War would only have two guys fighting, so what's your real beef with the project?

Sixx 10-28-2014 04:19 PM

When did I say I got any beef with it?

Lock Jaw 10-28-2014 04:24 PM

Iron Man: "Heroes should register so we can keep the world safe!"

Cap: "Hey, Tony, remember your last idea to keep the world safe that resulted in killer robots?"

Is what I would say after Age of Ultron

You seem to think it won't be faithful. Perhaps not full blown beef.

Sixx 10-28-2014 04:37 PM

I'm loudly wondering how they're gonna do it, like I mentioned before. That's about it.

Sixx 10-28-2014 04:38 PM

But yeah, it can't be totally faithful for sure, there is no doubt about it.

Shadow 10-28-2014 06:59 PM

There is no information on what Civil War is actually going to be about. Just that RDJ's in it as well as our first look at fucking Black Panther. Your jets, cool them.

Only thing that would make Phase 3 better and completely shit on DC's planned movies is a Black Widow. As is...WE'RE GETTING MOTHER FUCKING CAROL DANVERS!

Sixx 10-28-2014 07:06 PM

By the way, how come you guys are so sure it's gonna be Carol Danvers as Captain Marvel?

Inadequacy 10-28-2014 07:12 PM

Speculation running about, that Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch will be Inhumans, as a way to lead into the movie later down the line.

I'd be cool with that.

Miotch 10-30-2014 02:14 PM

So no Medusa and Gorgon then?

I mean, that makes a lot of sense.

Kalyx triaD 10-30-2014 02:17 PM

That makes sense. Hell Marvel doing Inhumans was specifically for this moment. It's their Fox-free mutants.

Read there was some shit about [whoever owns the X-Men franchise] got the rights to "mutants", so MCU can't use them.

So that would make sense.

Lock Jaw 10-30-2014 02:45 PM

Can't tell you how little I care about The Inhumans. I know they have had some sort of "resurgence" I guess in the comics as of late, but I haven't read up to that point yet....

Last stuff I read involving Inhumans was the War of Kings aftermath stuff.... But all the stuff before then, I just found them incredibly uninteresting.... War of Kings was good, but mainly because of all the non-Inhuman characters.

No, Medusa and all the rest would be in it. Not saying Quicksilver and Wanda are the only inhumans, they're just Marvel's way of introducing the inhumans to the movieverse.

Sixx 10-30-2014 06:41 PM

I'm not a big fan of Inhumans, though they do have their moments.

And Maximus the Mad is awesome.

Fignuts 10-30-2014 06:50 PM

After how good Guardians of the Galaxy was, no one should doubt Marvel Studio's ability to take a comic book that most people don't give a shit about, and turn it into gold.

That GoG was a great movie is one thing, but what's mind-boggling is how much money it made.

Kalyx triaD 10-30-2014 07:12 PM

Because it was a great movie, I guess.

Sixx 10-30-2014 07:21 PM

Eh, come the fuck on.

It was about a totally unknown team, the first part and whatnot.

And it still made more movie than sequels to well established popular movies. It's great, but it's also pretty shocking.

Difference with that is I loved the Guardians of the Galaxy comic books. Indifferent toward Inhumans comic books.

This is just me personally, of course. I'm sure other people are excited as heck. Plus, I'm sure I will see it and enjoy it. Just saying that right now I am indifferent to it.

Well then perhaps your shock is simply you trying to reconcile that a movie's success is not as based on previous public knowledge as you think?

It usually is, though. In the last few years at least.

There's a list, which I won't bother looking for pointing out how many of the highest grossing movies in the last few years were either sequels or remakes.

And don't act a fool, you know damn right that not every great movie is a commercial success and not every shit movie is a flop.

Kalyx triaD 10-30-2014 08:31 PM

Of course. So here's the part where you explain how an obscure superhero team of misfits became very nearly MCU's biggest success, if my thoughts don't satisfy you.

Sixx 10-30-2014 08:39 PM

Wait, how come I'm to explain if I keep saying I'm shocked/amazed by it's success?

Still - only thing I can think of is people recommending it to their friends after seeing it, because let's face it, the initial income wasn't that great ("only" like 300 mill in the first month or month and a half?). It got back to the top after a few weeks which is unusual.

Kalyx triaD 10-30-2014 09:06 PM

When box office rises after premier it's usually a word of mouth thing, and signals major DVD/On Demand sales later on. I agree that the norm tends to be a drop off after launch, and this success is certainly something worth looking into for other studios. Here's some thoughts off the top of ma head:

- Chris Pratt is insanely likable, and echoes a kind of hero we haven't really seen in a while.
- The 'Space Opera' was largely ignored for a long time, and one done with sincerity probably scratched an itch Jupiter Rising and Star Wars 7 will capitalize off.
- The very idea that a talking raccoon is on the team probably moves tickets to this day.
- It has a peculiar direction and soundtrack just goofy enough to work.
- It doesn't really look and play out like a superhero movie.
- Thanos threatened to bath the cosmos in our blood. Naturally we had to see it to save our lives.

Fignuts 10-30-2014 10:13 PM

It helps that the trailers were awesome.

Kalyx triaD 11-03-2014 12:04 PM

Marvels been digging into nostalgia hardcore for their 2015 plans.

loopydate 11-03-2014 12:10 PM

Will they be including Morph?

Kalyx triaD 11-03-2014 12:12 PM

He was a TV show thing but I wouldn't be surprised.

loopydate 11-03-2014 12:27 PM

That's why I asked. I figured if they're going for the look/style of the show, would they bring back the made-for-TV characters, as well.

Kalyx triaD 11-03-2014 12:45 PM

The look of the show invoked the Jim Lee designs of the time (though the show put X-Men on the map in the mainstream, so I can see them adding Morph just cause).

So... we're gonna have the teenage time-stranded X-Men, the current X-Men, and the 90s X-Men?

JimmyMess 11-03-2014 12:50 PM

that shit hits me right in the warm fuzzy childhood bone, I'm happy as tits!

Shadow 11-03-2014 04:32 PM

Don't read too much into these teasers. Supposedly it's just for the Secret War thing that'll go down. Don't expect a whole lot of these guys to stick around much.

EXCEPT FOR SPIDER-MAN BECAUSE IF THEY DON'T RETCON THE ONE MORE FUCKING DAY I'M BURNING DOWN A BUILDING WITH JOE Q IN IT!

Are the original X-men still in the present? God, that's dumb. Worked great as a six issue arc, but stretching it out like this is ridiculous. Battle of the Atom was the dumbest crossover in Marvel history.

Kalyx triaD 11-03-2014 07:58 PM

KIRA 11-03-2014 10:05 PM

Apparently Marvel is set to do a crossover with

Shingeki no Kyojin OR Attack on Titan

Lock Jaw 11-03-2014 10:06 PM

I have no idea what that is

The Destroyer 11-03-2014 10:08 PM

Manga/anime where giants eat people in the far future. Or something.

KIRA 11-03-2014 10:09 PM

One of the hottest Manga/Anime going.

Destor 11-04-2014 02:15 AM

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BtmW3m7CMAEsUbq.jpg:large

So this ended up being almost completely spot on. Hilarious.

Fignuts 11-06-2014 07:04 PM

Marvel's next big crossover:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/3FQRDW3IaZ4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Same concept as the original Secret Wars, but this time characters from various time frames and alternate universes are being gathered.

About to stop reading comics. As a kid, I loved alternate universe stuff. But that's because it was done sparingly. The past 10 years, it seems like every other story is a fucking time travel/alternate timeline thing, and at this point, I don't even care.

"Oh wow, a dystopian future where everything sucks. How will the heroes avoid this for the 500th time?" It's like all the creativity is gone. It comes off as really lazy. "Well I can't think of anything right now, so I'll just whip together some alternate character designs and call it a day. Wolverine is a bad guy. That'll make it interesting!" Ugh.

This at least is a little different. I did enjoy Exiles when it first hit, and this is sorta like that, except they have to fight eachother instead of work together.

Sixx 11-06-2014 07:11 PM

I'm gonna check this out, but all those multiple universes are kinda getting on my nerves.

The latest Spiderman issue is a real clusterfuck. Shit, even this cunt shows up:

Fignuts 11-06-2014 07:17 PM

Also, apparently you can do Marvel Unlimited for $10 a month with no long term commitment. It's pretty awesome. Reread the first 3 Ultimates books so far.

Fignuts 11-06-2014 08:33 PM

Yeah, Original Sin #1 just dropped. But 6 months isn't bad when you consider there are also over 13,000 issues in the catalog. Still very much worth it.

Kalyx triaD 11-06-2014 11:37 PM

Battleworld seems like their 'Crisis'. I'd be interested in reading a wiki breakdown after the fact.

Fignuts 11-07-2014 08:37 AM

In a way, yes, but I don't think it's going to be a reboot or anything like that. Just a kind of "who would win if so-and-so fought" type of deal.
