Seems Impact Wrestling might have just spoiled part of tomorrow's episode of NXT in regards to the finals of the Interim Cruiser tournament and the big storyline associated with it based on their hype video for next month's Slammiversary event.

SPOILER: show

Wasn't Drake Maverick already released? Pretty sure he wouldn't be winning the Cruiserweight Title.

Man, AEW didn't get Rusev? That's a blow for them.

Evil Vito 06-03-2020 08:07 AM

I doubt that all of them are coming in.....everyone except Rusev has made appearances for TNA/GFW/Impact before so it was a chance to splice in archive footage.

That they felt the need to include the Bulgarian flag though makes me think Rusev is the signing.

Ryker at least anyway.

Random Wrestling story

Tomy Atlas came into the AWA in 1984 which was based in Minnesota. During Tony's debut match, Verne Gagne turned to Wally Karbo (Verne's right hand man) and said "See, I told ya blacks can't get over in this territory"

The best story I ever read about Verne Gagne was how he had a busted index finger for years, kept breaking it and just taping it back up until it essentially "died" and he lost all feeling in it.
Anyway he was in a match with someone, he puts the claw on them and when they blade for it they somehow hack the end of Verne's finger off.

Classic.

There's Derrick Dukes, and they did an angle with Col DeBeeers where if Dukes lost, DeBeers would get to paint Dukes white and vice versa if Dukes won.

So there's that.

There's also Eddie Sharkey shooting up Verne's office when he suspected Verne slept with Eddie's wife.

Yeah a per show type deal seems a lot more likely considering that's the type of deal Deonna Purrazzo currently has with them.

Could see EC3 and Maverick get regular contracts because of their past history and being known commodities for Impact. Everyone else gets per show deals that could become regular deals later assuming they stay.

Karl Anderson already teased before about wanting to go back to NJPW once things go back to normal there so a short term deal with Impact makes a ton of sense for now.

XL 06-03-2020 07:05 PM

It’s Impact, just as likely to tease all these guys, then bring in Rowan as the only signing.

Would explain the abrupt split between her and Stone and the storyline of Aliyah joining the group being quickly tossed to the side.

Could have had another team for the women's tag division had NXT and main Creatives actually bothered to push the duo as a team on tv and not abruptly break them up only to do nothing really notable afterwards with her and Deonna Purrazzo.

Emperor Smeat 06-04-2020 01:31 AM

David Bixenspan really went off on WWE for everything involving Drake Maverick's legit firing and redemption storyline once it turned out to be just a shameless PR stunt on their end for cheap praise and positive press.

Even worse is Drake's new deal might be for way less money than he was making before based on recent rumors about WWE's offers to those who were released and making Impact's regular offers look rich by comparison.

He's gone off about stuff WWE has done before either in poor taste or being tone deaf but this might be the most heated he's been in recent times regarding something storyline-based. Even he admitted this might have topped the list for him.

In an update, it seems as if McMahon has changed his mind on Evans. According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, Vince McMahon’s opinion of Lacey has changed this year and he’s no longer high on her.

I just finished watching all the 1998 WCW Worldwide episodes in order. And they say the Corona Virus has been terrible. Look at what I accomplished!

Just over halfway done the 1997 Shotgun Saturday Nights.

You should start a thread where you post your favorite match from whatever it is you are watching. I know that could be tedious, so just pick 1 maybe?

"Gertner's Greatest Grappling Extravaganza" or some shit.

"Hey Victor Where's The Rice Pickers"

Sign I just saw in a Nash/Sid match in WCW.

No idea what that means.

This one didn't get blurred fast enough.

"BRING BACK OWEN"

Wrestler who I became a big fan of from watching all these 98 WCW Worldwide episodes: Lenny Lane

Van Hammer in 2000 looks exactly like this guy:

Bischoff just said to Sid "what's the matter Sid, can't find your scissors?" about four times.

Bad News Gertner 06-06-2020 10:58 AM

Lol and the announcers treated it like he just said the most insane thing ever

WCW was all over the place in the best way possible in the early 90's. It was as if someone poured a toy box out and arranged matches between them.
Even the baddies were wholesome.

Bad News Gertner 06-06-2020 01:11 PM

You just explained every episode of WCW Worldwide and Saturday Night from 97-2000

Seanny One Ball 06-06-2020 02:36 PM

Is that where they all went then? Like a WCW version of Heat.

Bad News Gertner 06-06-2020 02:48 PM

Only with a billion different low/mid card wrestlers

Bad News Gertner 06-06-2020 02:50 PM

Here's the matches of the last episode of WCW Worldwide I watched

Scott and Brad Armstrong vs Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko

Lenny Lane vs Hardbody Harrison

Johnny Swinger and Len Denton vs High Voltage

Barry Houston vs Norman Smiley

That's mighty fine, it would almost feel like a completely separate entity.
There were a lot of random gimmicks in WCW over the years, I mean WWF has a rep for silly stuff but a lot of the WCW stuff wasn't just silly, it was cheap or literally zero budget. Just guys in different coloured trunks getting mashed by slightly better jobbers with party store quality gimmicks.

I always liked the way Bobby Heenan said Norman Smileys name though, like it was exotic.

Worldwide and Saturday Night were their own universes. Especially Saturday night where they'd have show specific feuds.

Bad News Gertner 06-06-2020 03:28 PM

Glacier, Chris Adams and Saturn all feuding with each other over who had the better Superkick

Seanny One Ball 06-06-2020 03:45 PM

See to me that's the best sort of show to look back on, the thrown together ones.
I like seeing people come and go week to week.

I just don't know how many Hardbody Harrison matches I can handle.

Seanny One Ball 06-06-2020 03:54 PM

That El Dandy sure is a jam up guy though
