Wonder how much that cost for the shout out...
|
I hope there was a transaction involved. Otherwise the President is posting about wrestling in the middle of a worldwide crisis.
|
I don’t think I’ll be telling anybody anything their didn’t already know but, the Network is not good.
I was thinking about the participants in the Cruiserweight and Mae Young Classics so used the search function to search for the shows. The 1st MY Classic is listed in there as Season 1, but not the 2nd season, although all of the matches are on there separately. Makes no sense. |
There are times where I think “Maybe I’m on the wrong side of the battle” when I long for pro wrestling to be more like it used to be.
But then something comes along to remind me that Trump and McMahon are firmly together on the other side of this battle and I instantly think “No. I’m definitely right.” |

Buckle Bomb is whiplash waiting to happen at least and a spinal injury at worst, though considering Nia's past she can easily fuck up even simpler moves. Remember the shoulder breaker to Charlotte, she just dumped her on her head after the move. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/i4pYPB-XaqE" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Yeah I saw that the other day and winced. Not good.
|
Question; is the search function on the forum faulty? I searched using a keyword and poster name but it’s giving me no results. When I search for posts by user it shows me results from 2013-2014.

Nia sucks. She has no natural ability, no natural charisma and she isn't safe in the ring.

Apparently Triple H's celebration segment on Smackdown originally was meant to be a lot shorter in length.
Would explain why it quickly unraveled and became an entertaining but very odd trainwreck to watch on tv. Quote:

Apparently Jerry Lawler's reason for why he called one of Akira Tozawa's moves a "Ramen Noodle Moonsault" is just as dumb as when he mentioned it on RAW a couple weeks ago.
Basically Byron Saxton and Tom Phillps are to blame for not going along with his inappropriate gag and letting his dumb comment be exposed out in the open. Quote:

That quote function is all yours, though.

So it’s Lawler’s colleagues fault that they didn’t want to draw attention to his racist commentary by addressing it on air? Nice one.
|
Heenan and Ventura wouldn't last an hour on commentary today #sadfacts
|
Only they would because they’d be smart enough and talented enough to align to the standards on modern society and still remain hilarious. Lawler has largely been a one-trick pony on commentary which worked in the 90s but the company and society have moved on since then.
Tbf, back in the 80s there’s a strong chance that the actual move would have been called the Ramen Noodle Moonsault”. |
While I don't agree, there is a point to what Lawler's saying.
One of the go-to kneejerk responses when a joke like that gets made in wrestling is for people to say, "lol wot would u have done when jesse ventura and bobby heenan were around". But the point is that Heenan was always a clown, and always presented as being wrong. You knew that if Heenan said something, you were supposed to disagree with it, and someone like Vince or Gorilla Monsoon would call him out on it. But even if Lawler's trying to do that now, I couldn't tell you on a day-to-day basis if Jerry Lawler is supposed to be a clownish heel commentator or a beloved and respected babyface Hall of Famer. Without that consistency, that kind of joke can't land, even if you can handwave away the racism. |
Lawler used to say some really awful things on commentary back in the day, but as someone pointed out, EVERYTHING he said was awful, and it was in alignment with his heel character. Today's Lawler just comes off as senile.

The promos he did on Goldust are even worst ! At least in wwe he was a heel, in Memphis he was a face with the same promos !!

Ha, I guess it's all relative, huh?
I remember him flat out saying "fag", unless I'm imagining that. I don't think I am, though. |

That Spike was really a cunt hair away from impaling rollins. First time i've even noticed the cage has spikes on it that secure into carriers on the ring. |

Jerry Lawler is a one trick pony but Bobby Heenan and Jesse Ventura were too talented to make the same mistakes now? They all had the same proclivity for saying outrageous things... Jesse Ventura and Bobby Heenan wouldn't last five minutes today and you know it. Personally I find Jerry Lawler to be the best of the bunch and I think wrestling heels should go for cheap heat as often as they can get a reaction with it. Bring it back. |
JR & King were the best of all time.
All time. |
I prefer Gorilla and Bobby @Seanny
|
Gorilla and Bobby are second for me.
Ventura was okay, I don't really rate him though because his voice annoys me. |
JR & Heyman > JR & King

According to WWE, New Day is currently considered by them to be the greatest faction in WWE history.
Their main points were them holding tag records in company history and not changing as much as a group since their debut unlike other notable factions. Also because they had their own brand cereal. https://www.wwe.com/shows/smackdown/...on-of-all-time |

I blame Mauro Ranallo trying to "sound cool" |
They probably just didn't want to mention suicide so blatantly. Seems like a PR thing to me.
|
First thing Disney going to do if they buy WWE is make Rinku from that new tag team in NXT the Universal Champion , saying they already made a movie about him.
|
Plus just looking through the ages of the active wrestlers in WWE (including NXT) and didn’t realise the lack of guys in their 20’s. Also didn’t realise how old Bobby Fish was, they need to start pushing some of the younger talent soon.

Outside of some exceptions, NXT stopped being an effective developmental system years ago and instead became just a place for Triple H and co. to hoard as much notable indie talent as possible. Even when they do have notable young talent, they don't really do much with them because of the log jam of talent in the company. Austin Theory is only 22 years old but doesn't feel special and is just another guy because of how NXT and RAW has handled him. Deonna Purrazzo is another young talent that could have been a big star for NXT's women division but they did jack shit with her. |
Quote:
The result is you get a bunch of underdeveloped, bland, no talent, hacks who don't know how to actually do anything except what they're told to do. The especially don't know how to get themselves, their opponents, or their feuds or matches over with anyone with a functioning brain between the ages of 10 to 60 that isn't watching out of sheer habit or boredom. |

Seems WWE might be even more worried about a potential coronavirus outbreak happening at their PC due to all the tapings held there the past few weeks.
Enacted new rules that are even more stricter than before in regards to what talent are allowed to do in the building. Quote:

Learned this today.
A lot of Dan Severn's MMA wins were works. If you look at the names on his record it shows that he defeated Tyson Smith in Winning via tko at an Action Wrestling show. Tyson Smith is of course Kenny Omega. |
I think somebody has been having fun with Wiki again.
Seems like a legitimate mistake but Kenny Omega isn't the Tyson Smith you are talking about. https://m.sherdog.com/fighter/record/Tyson-Smith-22395 A few people have made this mistake. The real Tyson Smith actually has a lot in common with Kenny Omega because they both fight girls. https://absolutemixedwrestling.com/pages/tyson-smith |
I am doing a deep dive to drag up more info because I am finding claims that Omega says he fought Severn and Fulton.
Maybe the other Tyson Smith that wrestles women is the fraud... I need to find out the truth. |
Hmmm, seems weird for a 160lbs guy to be wrestling women and Severns...
This is a weird coincidence but I think there may even be a third Tyson Smith. I find it hard to believe Kenny Omega fought between 2005 and 2008 in at least 7 documented mma matches, especially since I can't find any pictures or footage so far. Reddit says it's true, Wiki agrees but Sherdog ain't saying shit... |
I can find more to support the notion than not, but there is no real evidence of it. The MMA profiles match his wiki bio and age so it probably is him.
I'm going to go with it, seems like February 2007 was a wild month. Kinda pissed that no mma forum has footage of any of this nor any pictures. |
Quote:
|
I honestly think it might be.
I mean Tyson Smith has a few profiles on MMA sites and they all agree he is 36 from Winnipeg except that fucking weird one that wrestles women for cash. He is Canadian though... It's infuriating because there isn't one picture of any of the events he fought on. I literally went through a comprehensive list of Kenny Omega wrestling matches and cross checked the dates with the MMA matches just to see if he was busy elsewhere on any of those dates. He wasn't. It could be a mad coincidence or it could be true. I kinda want it to be true now. |
Dude fought four times in February 2007 and twice in April 2007.
Two matches on two separate nights too. This is the weirdest MMA record I have seen for ages. |
All times are GMT -4. The time now is 05:05 AM. |
