I think Cap 3 will be Civil War. Marvel Studios prez says that his idea for Cap 3 was something he wanted to do for a decade (as in before Cap had a movie franchise, or that there was even an MCU - but Civil War was still reverberating in the 616). He hints that it will be a game changer in the vein of Winter Soldier.

If this pans out, I would have expected Avengers 3 to be Civil War, but it seems Thanos is all over that. Now that I think about it, Civil War is firmly a Cap led thing (in that his side was more sympathetic). It would also be great for Thanos to strike after something so messy topples the heroes of Earth.

There's also word that Drax would show up in Avengers 3, sure.

*slams you with a chair*

THERE CAN BE NO CIVIL WAR IF HALF THE PARTICIPANTS ARE OWNED BY OTHER STUDIOS!

Lock Jaw 09-10-2014 09:43 PM

They don't have to be exact. In fact, an exact adaptation would be terrible.

Kalyx triaD 09-11-2014 12:11 AM

By Phase 3 they'll have a lot of heroes.

Sixx 09-11-2014 02:21 AM

No way Cap 3 is gonna be Civil War.

Those movies are Cap focused with a little side action and Civil War was not like that. You can't make a Civil War movie all about Cap with some gymnastics from Black Widow.

Kalyx triaD 09-11-2014 03:26 AM

Yeah you really can.

Sixx 09-11-2014 06:25 AM

No, unless you totally change the concept of said Civil War.

Fignuts 09-11-2014 07:09 AM

Nah, Sixx is right. You either have to change the solo movies to include a lot more heroes, or drastically change the scale of Civil War.

If I had to pick, I'd go with the latter, as seeing all the heroes on screen together should be an avengers thing. Lessens the impact when they are all together in the solo movies.

If I really had my choice, I'd say fuck civil war, cause it's dumb.

Lock Jaw 09-11-2014 10:42 AM

Yeah, that's what I was saying... It literally can't be a close adaptation. Pretty much the only thing I would take from it is the idea that the government wants heroes to register.

Clerk 09-11-2014 11:04 AM

Really? Marvel Comics. This is comical, grown adults reading childrens super-hero books. Why not grow up and read an actual book for adults not children.

XL 09-11-2014 12:13 PM

Y'know what? I never thought about it like that. I think you're right. You've changed my life. Thank you.

Enjoying Death of Wolverine so far. He's badass without the healing factor, not being the first one to get dropped in a fight and all.

Deadpool movie a go for 2016. We can only assume that leaked test footage did the trick.

Lock Jaw 09-18-2014 08:45 PM

Fantastic Four also pushed back, but no one cares.

Sixx 09-18-2014 09:10 PM

Shot in like 3 months.

Probably need another 10 for CGI now.

God, vol. 3 of Savage Wolverine is awful.

Now he's talking to elephants and hippopotamuses (hippopotami?).

It was a bygone conclusion but Bryan Singer is confirmed to direct X-Men Apocalypse.

XL 09-23-2014 05:38 PM

Foregone conclusion, surely?

Everybody knew it to be the case, let's go with that.

I'm a little surprised nobody's commented on the Kirby settlement.

Nowhere Man 09-29-2014 12:06 AM

I'm still rather amazed they were able to settle at all. I kinda figured this was going to be one of those legal battles that goes on forever, like the Siegel estate vs DC over the rights to Superman.

Fignuts 10-03-2014 06:45 PM

I haven't read Uncanny Avengers in a while, where they first cameoed this Onslaught red skull thing, but it was reeeeaaaaallly good up to where I got. Same writer as the Black Ops X-force books which were fucking phenomenal, and since he's writing this crossover, it's got a chance to be good.

Here's some rumors...

While Avengers 3 may not split into two movies, there is now talk of a huge project - larger than an Avengers film, that would include characters from the movies and Agents of Shield.

Rumors, though.

Sixx 10-08-2014 06:04 AM

I just read the Cap comics where he loses the super-soldier serum and thought it was pretty cheap, some random new guy shows up and shoots shit out of his chest that just sucks it out.

And I'm not digging Falcon as the new Cap so far, gonna have to see more of this than just the last Cap vol. 7 issue to really say.

Nowhere Man 10-08-2014 04:31 PM

Has anyone else been reading Ms. Marvel?

Sixx 10-08-2014 04:47 PM

Hate the new Ms. Marvel cause she's just pretty much Mr Fantastic. Shitty powers.

Just read the Spiderman that came out today, team-up with her and it was awful.

Sixx 10-08-2014 05:04 PM

Oh and this AXIS event looks pretty good so far. Read all the "Road to AXIS" comics and the first part of the core series and it might be really cool.

I like her character and design but yeah her powers are goofy. Not everybody can pull off Dhalsim/Mr. Fantastic and still be taken seriously.

Nowhere Man 10-09-2014 12:17 AM

Well, it's largely a comedy book, so I doubt being taken seriously is that big of a concern. I'd also say she's more on the Plastic Man end of the spectrum of stretchy-powers, which isn't all that different from your Mister Fantastics or Dhalsims of the world, just a little more creative with the stuff she transforms into.

On the subject of characters than can and should always be taken seriously, though, I've started reading Magneto's solo book. And it's pretty hardcore-- he's like the mutant version of the Punisher now.

Solo Magneto is fucking awesome. Wait till you get to "Road to AXIS", these are like issues 9-10.

Fignuts 10-09-2014 07:41 PM

Ok, so maybe I'm not trying out Marvel Unlimited.

It's one of those things where they advertise it as 9.99 a month, but you have to pay for like 8 months up front.

So fuck that.

The last "event" I bought was X-Men vs Avengers, only been buying Superior/Amazing-Spider-Man, Scarlet Spider and Deadpool comics. I picked up new Captain America #25 for the hell of it and Avengers/X-Men: Axis. Didn't read Cap yet but enjoyed Avengers/X-Men: Axis just unsure if it's worth 5 dollars an issue.

Most regular sized books are $3.99- anything 40 to 48 pages is $4.99 now. For some reason most of the main Axis books/Avengers "8 months in the future" books were $4.99. Uncanny Avengers #25 was 5 bucks, Cap #25 was 5 bucks. It seems like 40% of the books are $4.99.

I mean I get 15% off everything at Forbidden Planet NYC but still, that's why I only get Amazing and Deadpool regularly.

Fignuts 10-09-2014 09:57 PM

Just found out those two gay X-force books were cancelled in may, and they went back to having a black ops X-force book. Awesome. Awesome to the max.

So apparently the alternate-universe Gwen Stacy version of Spider-Woman from Edge of Spider-Verse was enough of a hit that she's going to get her own ongoing series, set to launch in February (link). No word if she's going to stay in her own universe or make her way over to Marvel 616 or what.

Me too. The issue she appeared in was pretty good, too, so I think Spider-Gwen's got some real potential. Though I kinda hope she gets stuck in 616 Marvel so she can interact with Spider-Man and the rest of the 616 characters.

he creates a lizard serum and turns into that version of the Lizard, trying to be "special" like her.

Kalyx triaD 10-12-2014 04:59 PM

I remember somebody saying if Peter wasn't Spider-Man he'd be a supervillain of some sort all the same.

I read up about Silk. She has a Tarantula (DC) Mary Sue vibe about her in the way she trounced Peter hard enough that I think the writer had something to say. But overall she's kinda cool.

dronepool 10-12-2014 05:14 PM

It was a cool read, wish he had more than a page or two but still an interesting twist. Silk is cool. I like how they connected her to Ezekiel and whole totem thing. I'm I love all the progress in Slotts Spider-Man and I'm loving that he's doing Spider-Verse.

The last issue was fun.

Kalyx triaD 10-12-2014 05:40 PM

That looks like a fun take.

Lock Jaw 10-13-2014 10:16 PM

Robert Downey Jr. apparently confirmed to have joined the cast of Captain America 3. Looking more and more like some sort of Civil War will kick off.

Kalyx triaD 10-14-2014 01:05 AM

Will you look at that. Who'd a thought.

And we might as well consider that Iron Man 4, he's not doing an extra.

Lock Jaw 10-14-2014 01:13 AM

I hope that RDJ doesn't "take over" Cap's own movie. Winter Soldier was sweet because of the espionage/spy/conspiracy feel to it.... RDJ doesn't really "fit in" with that tone.

Kalyx triaD 10-14-2014 01:21 AM

Civil War is inherently political. Iron Man's own series dealt with those themes in its own way. I'd say he'll be perfectly fine.

Cap 3 itself may be the catalyst to Civil War, and the event will play out over several movies (into Avengers 4). I imagine Agents of Shield and Daredevil will work off it as well.

Shadow 10-14-2014 11:40 AM

Hell why not have Ghost Rider get dragged back to earth with Civil War as well as Dr. Strange and the Defenders? Possibilities are endless.

Kalyx triaD 10-14-2014 04:12 PM

No Nic Cage no go.

Sixx 10-15-2014 11:06 AM

Second issue of the core series came out today. It's also in Captain America, Magneto, Uncanny Avengers and Loki: Agent of Asgard.

loopydate 10-15-2014 12:21 PM

He'll stay dead until Disney gets the film rights to the mutants.

Fignuts 10-15-2014 07:25 PM

When he murdered his own son, it kind of ruined the character for me.

Sixx 10-15-2014 07:36 PM

I was shocked he didn't do it way earlier.

Still, Daken is fine now.

Also:

SPOILER: show
Remember the time he actually killed like 5 of his children? Some group obsessed with Wolverine made him fight them, then everyone commited suicide except for one boy who told Wolverine those were all his kids. Was a weird story.

Fignuts 10-15-2014 07:58 PM

Yeah, didn't read that one.

I dunno, it's just that as many bad things as Wolverine has done, he's at least always had a code that's kept him somewhat honorable. He was on the precipice, but he hadn't crossed the line so much that he couldn't still be considered a hero. Killing Daken ruined that at least for me. Daken wasn't even pure evil. He was a bad person for sure, but he wasn't so far gone that he couldn't eventually redeem himself.

And yeah, I know that future Wolverine told him Daken would kill all the students if he let him live but that's stupid too. How many glimpses have we gotten of a future where Genesis becomes Apocalypse and kills everyone? That kind of thing happens in comics all the time. "Oh if you don't kill this dude a horrible future will take place" But they always find a different way to avoid that future because that's what keeps them heroes. Even if they're not the most virtuous of heroes like X-force.

Also, the fact that Daken is alive again doesn't make the fact that Logan killed him any easier to swallow for me.

Sixx 10-19-2014 09:35 AM

So who do you think is the female Thor?

My bet is on either Frigga or Angela.
