They switched Green for Hob, what?

Yup.

http://uk.ign.com/articles/2014/06/1...els-axis-event

Sharp-eyed fans will notice that the first AXIS teaser showed the Green Goblin, but in the latest version he is now colored as the Hobgoblin. IGN asked for clarification and Brevoort said that Green Goblin was originally going to be in the story, but the character will be too tied up in what’s happening in Spider-Man’s comic to participate. Remender said that Hobgoblin works just as well to fill the spot of a Spider-Man enemy

"Works just as well"...

Fignuts 07-21-2014 05:45 AM

If they have Hobgoblin, then what's Carnage doing there?

Huh?

As in "why 2 Spiderman villains"?

slik 07-21-2014 11:06 AM

What's the deal with Red Skull's costume? He looks like Magneto Skull.

DaveBrawl 07-21-2014 11:48 AM

In a way that's correct.

Not sure of all of the details, but he has the power of Onslaught which was Prof. X and Magneto's subconscious together if I remember correctly.

Should be in a wheelchair, too.

slik 07-21-2014 12:49 PM

So he is now like a universal level threat?

Wasn't Onslaught supposed to be like Thanos/Galactus levels of danger?

Sixx 07-21-2014 01:13 PM

Yeah, he was.

They're trying to one-up themselves again and again with those new super powerful villains.

Kalyx triaD 07-21-2014 02:32 PM

I always found Onslaught kinda goofy. Badass costume, sure, but he was overpowered for the sake of being overpowered. And he didn't really pan out anyway. Made for a cool boss in one of those Marvel Vs games, though.

I remember that game. It was the first time I've ever seen Onslaught and I was like "what the fuck happenned to Magneto?"

Fignuts 07-21-2014 03:24 PM

I don't think anyone thought Onslaught was cool outside of his look. He could have been cool if he really was Prof. X driven insane, like he seemed to be at first. But then it turned all gay with the explanation of what it was.

Fignuts 07-21-2014 03:25 PM

Marvel doesn't have the balls to see anything through to the end.

Kalyx triaD 07-21-2014 04:54 PM

Just read a cool theory that Stan Lee's cameos are actually him portraying Uatu the Watcher.

Yeah, that's a pretty old theory.

Kinda surprised that you of all people haven't heard it so far.

Kalyx triaD 07-21-2014 07:01 PM

First I heard of it.

Shadow 07-21-2014 08:38 PM

Behind the times Kalyx.

loopydate 07-21-2014 11:13 PM

Yeah heard that like a decade ago. But it's awesome and I hope it's true, so I'm always up for it being reintroduced.

Fignuts 07-22-2014 01:37 AM

Original Sin is pretty awesome so far. A little "all over the place" at the start, but so are most conspiracy stories, and it's starting to all come together and make sense now. Just hope it doesn't take a turn in the last 2 issues, cause this could be a great book once it's done.

Also like that you don't need to read a single tie-in (so far) to know what is going on. Infinity felt incomplete, and I felt like I was missing a ton of context while reading it.

Kalyx triaD 07-25-2014 05:38 PM

Joaquin Phoenix is the now rumored to be Dr. Strange.

Fignuts 07-25-2014 09:31 PM

Joaquin Phoenix is a mystical wizard in real life, so that's a good fit.

Fignuts 07-26-2014 04:55 AM

Marvel Unlimited is only 99 cents this month using the promo code SDCC14

The Destroyer 07-26-2014 05:05 AM

I should really look into Marvel Unlimited instead of pissing away money on the all too frequent Marvel sales on Comixology, but I keep hearing bad things about the reading interface.

Kalyx triaD 07-27-2014 02:26 AM

Official MCU film dates:

Phase Two

Guardians of the Galaxy: August 1, 2014
Avengers: Age Of Ultron: May 1, 2015

Phase Three

Ant-Man: July 17, 2015
Captain America 3: May 6, 2016
Untitled Film: July 8, 2016 (Probably Doc Strange)
Untitled Film: May 5, 2017

Likely Phase Four(!)

Guardians of the Galaxy 2: July 28, 2017
Untitled Film: November 3, 2017 (Almost certainly Thor 3)
Untitled Film: July 6, 2018
Untitled Film: November 2, 2018 (Interesting)
Untitled Film: May 3, 2019 (Civil War if there's a god)

Deadpool test footage apparently. Doesn't really sound like Ryan Reynolds to me but they say it's him.

Sixx 07-28-2014 07:00 AM

According to imdb there's gonna be an X-Force movie and Stephen Lang is rumored to play Cable.

First I hear of this.

Kalyx triaD 07-28-2014 01:54 PM

"imdb lol"

The Destroyer 07-28-2014 02:04 PM

That rumour's been doing the round for years.

I'll start to believe it if and when X-Force appears from development hell.

Lock Jaw 07-28-2014 02:06 PM

I thought it was already officially announced awhile ago. Just no release date yet.

Sixx 07-28-2014 02:10 PM

I like Stephen Lang but I really hope those are just rumours. I know Cable is grey-haired but never imagined him being old.

Kalyx triaD 07-28-2014 02:16 PM

They are rumors. IMDB has never broke something before other sources. Ever.

The film isn't rumours, the casting is.

Sixx 07-28-2014 02:43 PM

Think I'd rather see the black ops version of X-Force on film.

The Destroyer 07-28-2014 02:47 PM

Probably end up being the pouch covered 90s version.

Kalyx triaD 07-28-2014 02:58 PM

Nah, I'm thinking spec-ops version as well, with elements of the 90's version. It's also probably the best shot at seeing a proper Deadpool, because he may not get his own movie anytime soon.

In that pic, Lou Ferrigno legit looks like he could be a gamma-roided-up Mark Ruffalo.

Sixx 07-28-2014 07:00 PM

Really enjoying The Ultimate universe now. I get that it's a different universe, so I don't mind the changes to characters, heck I even like Samuel L. Fury.

What I don't like is Nick Fury Jr. in 616. That's just a lame ass attempt to introduce Samuel Jackson to mainstream universe.

Fignuts 07-29-2014 01:20 AM

Yeah that is really awful, and completely unneeded.

Shadow 07-29-2014 08:47 PM

I've been watching Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes on and off for the past couple of weeks and honestly loving how they're Nick Fury started off as just Nick Fury who happens to be black and now...he's Sam Jackson.

Kinda a good development.

Kalyx triaD 07-29-2014 08:57 PM

That show was awesome.

Fignuts 07-30-2014 01:19 AM

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/I5UyfaCoQWI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Fuck everyone who kept this from happening. Seriously. Right in the ass.

Nowhere Man 07-30-2014 02:05 AM

That was fun, but I can see why the Deadpool movie didn't get made. Superhero movies are ridiculously expensive to make, and an R-rating would cut off a huge portion of the audience that a PG-13 movie would otherwise get.

Plus, IMO Deadpool gets really annoying, really fast if you're not into "LOL totally random!" humor. Maybe I'm just lame, but I don't think I'd be able to watch two hours of that.

Kalyx triaD 07-30-2014 03:03 AM

Nerf it down to PG13, keep the pop culture gags, downplay violence and language, 4th wall breaking is non-negotiable. It would be a fucking hit. What you want is more kids to be able to see this. Deadpool can play all kinds of demographics.

Sixx 07-31-2014 07:56 PM

So I'm reading this Divided We Fall storyline and there's this black Spiderman kid. He just got the webshooters from Aunt May which kinda baffles me (he's been learning how to swing, too). This is like a year after his first appearance so did Miles Morales go for that long without shooting webs?

Sixx 07-31-2014 08:10 PM

Also, sentient brain tumor. Wow.

Sixx 08-01-2014 07:39 AM

God, I don't even know what's going on in those comics anymore.

Just after United We Stand, the next issue somehow deals with Nick Fury being a traitor and working for Hydra. And the Nick Fury in question is the original 616 version.

Sixx 08-01-2014 07:54 AM

Oh, ok it was some bio camouflage.

Nevermind.

Hell now that you mentioned it, before a violent kill I want him to look at the camera and say "Now, this is where the camera pans away for dramatic effect, this isn't really PG-13 of me" or something.

There's so many Marvel Universe/Twin Peaks/Doctor Who crossovers running through my mind right now.

Danvers being Thor would be pretty awesome, but no, she just changed her name to Captain Marvel.

I've read the first five issues of the new Captain Marvel, and I kinda love it. Kamala Khan being this superhero-obsessed fan-girl is adorably dorky, and they've been pretty creative with her shape-shifting powers. She's filling the "teenage uber-nerd superhero" spot that Spider-Man once held, which is nice. Probably not my favorite book on any given day, but it's still really fun.

Journey into Mystery is fucking awesome you guys. Both Loki's and Sif's runs in the book are great.

Really mad now that they made kid Loki older, cause he was a great character, and added a lot to the the Thor universe.

This is Kingsley just riffing, but bear in mind The Mandarin could have had him killed while Trever was in prison. The long and short of it is; Trevor was busted out.

In any case, with SHIELD rebuilding and HYDRA splintered, The Ten Rings could really make their move against Stark or anyone. Coulson may well have to deal with them.

Well personally I'm somewhat comforted by the fact that Affleck seems comfortable with the direction.

I hate to say but that list Sixx posted is pretty spot on.Seriously what is DC's problem here's hoping they take more chances in the coming years film wise anyway.

Worth buying in trade when its cheap? Hmm

Kalyx triaD 09-10-2014 08:29 PM

Um... grain of salt and all that but...

I think Cap 3 will be Civil War. Marvel Studios prez says that his idea for Cap 3 was something he wanted to do for a decade (as in before Cap had a movie franchise, or that there was even an MCU - but Civil War was still reverberating in the 616). He hints that it will be a game changer in the vein of Winter Soldier.

If this pans out, I would have expected Avengers 3 to be Civil War, but it seems Thanos is all over that. Now that I think about it, Civil War is firmly a Cap led thing (in that his side was more sympathetic). It would also be great for Thanos to strike after something so messy topples the heroes of Earth.

There's also word that Drax would show up in Avengers 3, sure.

Lock Jaw 09-10-2014 08:40 PM

I could see it. Kind of set it up a bit with Black Widow's speech before that committee at the end of Winter Soldier. She was basically like "What are you going to do? You need us."

With her checkered past out in the open, plus with the "Hydra Scare" going around, I could see some politicians wanting to have all the heroes sign up, register, pledge allegiance.... etc.

You would have to do the story on a much smaller scale in just a Cap movie, as it won't have millions of cameos. Could do something where Cap learns of the bill before it is passed.... some conspiracy stuff.... Cap thwarts some evil villain's plan.... but at the end of the movie the bill is passed anyways, setting the stage for further movies and The Avengers.
