It isn't that great, really. I dunno, I played it for 8-10 hours and had zero desire to want to finish it, and never did.

drave 06-01-2022 08:17 AM

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands.

Just got to the dual-class part of the game. Combat feels REALLY fun and the dual class is even more craziness.

Sepholio 06-02-2022 07:37 AM

DIABRO IMMORTAL TIEMZ

Sepholio 06-02-2022 09:20 AM

i dunno what happens later but this is far better than i was hoping for out of a mobile game. Pretty much typical diablo.

drave 06-02-2022 11:27 AM

Wait till you hit that wall with the glyphs (or wtf ever they call them) needed to do runs that actually will power your character up a bit.

You can 100p grind for them, but using the low-hanging f2p model that it is, it'll take ages.

I'll just go play Diablo III

Say what you will about Call of Duty as a series, but they've easily got the best free to play game on the mobile market. No pay wall, no time gating, no pay to win, and tons of content updated on a frequent basis. Was hoping Diablo would take a similar approach since its the same publisher, but I guess not.

drave 06-02-2022 03:16 PM

I fault them only for their ridiculous install sizes.

Fignuts 06-16-2022 09:10 PM

Shredder's Revenge

Dotemu does it again. So cool.

Maybe they can give us an actually good golden axe game next.

Destor 06-16-2022 09:20 PM

Destor 06-16-2022 09:21 PM

currently doing a visual novel. The House in Fata Morgana.

teamXtremist 06-17-2022 01:15 AM

Bioshock Infinite is probably my third favorite FPS ever made, behind Half Life 1 & 2, and Bioshock 1 is probably only behind those three and the two Portal games for me in the FPS genre. Assuming you don't count Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 3 as FPS. Though maybe Portal should be thought of as more a puzzle game than an FPS, in which case my top 5 fps would probably go:

1. Half Life
2. Half Life 2
3. Bioshock Infinite
4. Bioshock
5. Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare

Destor 06-17-2022 01:36 AM

portal imo is a puzzle platformer

Destor 06-17-2022 01:36 AM

bioshock is excellent though. i prefer 1 to 3 but the dlc of 3 is on par with 1

teamXtremist 06-17-2022 01:55 AM

That PlayStation new tier subscription is live. I must say, looks very inviting.

The second tier looks like a no brainer. Has Miles Morales, RDR2, Ghost of Tsushima, Guardians of the Galaxy etc included.

Haven't seen the whole catalog but what a way to start.…

teamXtremist 06-17-2022 01:57 AM

Also Starfield looks pretty ambitious. Definitely the second best thing by far shown off in these summer reveals. With the #1 thing of course being Persona 5 Royal to PC, will be Day 1 buy so I can play it in Japanese.

Fignuts 06-17-2022 09:08 AM

Interview with Todd Howard revealed a few mor details.

Despite all the procedural generation, Starfield will have more hand crafted content than any previous bethesda studios game.

Basically confirmed that it will be just as modabble as previous games

Four major cities with one of them being the biggest theyve ever built.

Going back to silent protagonist, as opposed to fallout 4.

drave 06-17-2022 10:02 AM

Hooray!

drave 06-17-2022 10:04 AM

Jumped back into Diablo III last week.

Made a Whirlwind barb that is fucking insane and by far the strongest character I've ever made. Finding it to be super fun, and also building out a few alts for funsies.

Tiny Tina's game is alright. Super short as far as the campaign goes, and the "chaos chamber" is a poor man's end game. They have a HUGE world and so much of it is soooooo empty. They can do more with it, a shame they haven't.

RP 06-17-2022 01:54 PM

Platinumed God of war . One of he best games ever.

Playing Borderlands two again.

drave 06-23-2022 03:34 PM

Done god damn everything in Diablo III and made my most powerful character ever.

Gonna hunt Rainbow Goblins for the big gay rainbow sword, wings and hamburger. If anyone plays on Xbox and wants to goblin hunt, lemme know.

Destor 06-23-2022 03:41 PM

Bouncing between Fata Morgana and Shadorun Returns. CRPGs are the best

drave 06-23-2022 03:54 PM

Oh shit, I pre-loaded the Shadowrun trilogy and forgot about it!

Gonna start that shit up tonight. Finished the 1st one, but never played the other two.

Also still blown away by Shadowrun being completely different games on SNES / Genesis.

Beat the SNES one, but not the Genesis one. Think I sold my Genesis before I did or something.

Destor 06-23-2022 05:51 PM

its a really good port. some minor bugs have cause me to reload an area but lost time. just intractables not loading properly. very minor

Sepholio 06-25-2022 12:56 AM

Still grinding out Diablo: Immortal lol. Now viable in the hell 2 difficulty. Barely. Friend I play with got a 5 star gem on a rift run and just has it sitting in his inventory instead of using it like he didnt just get whale shit direct from RNGesus himself.

Fignuts 06-25-2022 01:13 AM

drave 06-25-2022 09:52 AM

Still going. I’m at the part where I once again returned to Phineas and he said something about something or some place called The Hope. I had also picked up and have completed Peril on Gorgon, and plan to also eventually pick up Murder on Eridanos as well.

DAMN iNATOR 06-29-2022 11:24 PM

The third and current mirror is actually surprisingly good.

drave 07-11-2022 08:10 AM

Just finished up Far Cry 5. That was my first FC game ever, and it was alright.

A buggy fucking mess half the time, but alright. Story started off very cryptic and interesting and then boom and blah and nothing mattered anyway :D

When it wasn't bugging out, it was fun. Have to give it a 6/10 because of all the damn bugs.

Fignuts 07-11-2022 11:24 AM

You'd have told me I'd be playing fortnite in 2022, i'd have thought I was still comatose in the hospital, but here we are.

Friend in our group convinced us to try the no build mode, and god damn if it isnt a lot of fun. Guess its popular for more than just bright colors and character skins.

Weapons feel very satisfying and its definitely one of the better battle royale maps I've played. Also theres something appealing about the ridiculousness of Doctor Strange headshotting Chun Li with a sniper rifle while Darth Vader drives a Semi through a building with Naruto firing his assault rifle in the passenger seat.

drave 07-11-2022 12:25 PM

Yeah man, no build isn't terrible. That said, I still really can't get into it despite my son begging me to play.

I saw you, Berg and Ryan all playing yesterday, then my son was also playing and a few others. Was all wtf...

Then I watched my son for a bit, and I guess they added some more movement options that makes things much more fluid. They keep going and they will have TitanFall 3. Mantling was last season with the powerslide too, and now they have the super sprint into a jump that just lets you cover large distances.

drave 07-18-2022 10:13 AM

Breath of the Wild.

Fired it up for the first time in almost a year. I was in the middle of the lightning elder beast. Fuck that temple, or maybe it was just because I didn't remember where I was from the old save file, but it reminded me of the PITA Water Temple from Zelda 64. I don't even remember what made the water temple terrible..... maybe I'm misremembering.

Anyway, forgot how simply amazing this game is, just at a practical gameplay level. The survival mechanisms, the fact that "oh dry grass catches fire fast AF" and other little environmental details are just too damn fun.

Finally have the master sword, that narrative was very cool. I saw they are releasing BOTW 2, so I gotta finish this amazingly awesome game.

I dunno what it is about Nintendo, but their flagship games, namely Zelda, always have a "different intangible" that I cannot put my finger on.

Sepholio 07-19-2022 03:10 AM

Still playing Diablo Immortal because I love torturing myself.

In a weird turn of events, I logged in today to find that I have somehow been made the leader of one of the larger clans. Clan was ranked anywhere from #1 to #3 a few weeks ago and then the leadership I guess flaked off back to WoW. The algorithm somehow decided I'm it. Prob because my level is obscenely high and I have the highest shadow rank of anyone else atm, but still its weird because in terms of raw power I ain't it because I won't give them my money. Oh well, still cool to be the leader of the DI branch of No Quarter, which is a huge clan in other games.

closing in on the end of LaL. Short but satisfying. Really experimental for its time.

Destor 07-27-2022 03:54 PM

Good game is good. And for a SNES game the wild west section is really edgey. If it had came to the states theyd have had to censor the hell out of it

teamXtremist 07-27-2022 07:08 PM

Think I'd probably give Ghostwire Tokyo a 7.5/10. Combat is pretty repetitive but love being able to explore Shibuya in the game. Sometimes just walk around reading the signs and shit since I have gotten halfway competent at reading Japanese

teamXtremist 07-28-2022 02:41 AM

Decided to finally play Jedi Fallen Order despite owning it forever. Not bad thus far, wish i had got around to it sooner

drave 07-28-2022 07:21 AM

Bought Ghost Recon Breakpoint Ultimate Edition for $30. The game is a freakin BLAST so far. Feels a lot like Far Cry 5 honestly, but with "more grit" I guess.

The ability to change from 1st to 3rd when aiming, at will, is awesome. So far, the AI is impressive and hasn't done anything dumb.

teamXtremist 07-28-2022 07:54 PM

Man Demon of Hatred is kicking my ass now. Don't know why, his moveset isn't particularly hard. He does a lot of posture damage even deflecting his stomps, but the one thing that's really killing me is I'm bad fleeing from his jump attack and creating room to get away and even when I do I don't seem to be making that grapple hook back to him. Usually end up running through my gourd seeds by the time I get his second health bar down

Destor 07-29-2022 10:59 PM

Sepholio 08-09-2022 11:28 AM

Finished Octopath Traveler finally on my 2nd playthrough. My switch originally completely died right before I finished it (grinding between finishing all the characters stories and doing the true end game) the first time through so it was nice to finally get the real ending. Didn't like it as much the second time through honestly, the story and whole progression of the game just don't do it for me, but the battles and gameplay are still choice. Please give me new Chrono in this engine with these systems and a touch of refinement NAO.

Started playing Edge of Eternity. Enjoying it so far, but I'm barely into the game. Lots of potential for the battle system here. Seems like it will end up relying a lot on elements and statuses and it has a very basic movement grid where positioning can matter at times. Interested in seeing how it develops as the challenge increases and I get access to more abilities and characters. Think of it kinda like turn based tactics-lite w/atb and you'll have a good idea.

Graphics are pretty in a xenoblade way. Very similar looking in fact with some wild environments at times. Can def tell its made by a small team though because some of the animations get a little jank at time, especially in the distance. Sound is surprisingly great so far. Can't really tell you much about the story quality yet because I don't know much, but from the opening it seems like it may be fairly cliche. We'll see if some plot twists develop to set it apart.

drave 08-26-2022 08:21 AM

Fired up Battlefield 2042 again for the first time since they dropped the first season. It ends in 4 days.

The shittiest thing is that without cross-play, it is nearly impossible to get into games with other people. Naturally, KBM will dominate controllers without even needing to try, doesn't make things very fun.

So I played bot rounds. The bots on harder difficulty are FUCKING INSANE. Can't remember the names of the difficulties, but going from "normal" to "medium/hard" is a HUGE difference.

Anyway, the reworked maps are actually excellent. There is more cover, it actually looks like a war zone, etc. Before, sight lines were so long, 85% of team comps were snipers.

The drip feed of reworking maps will not result in bringing back a decent player base at all. In addition, at the start of season 3, they are going back to the dedicated class system that makes Battlefield great. Specialists will still exist, but will be listed as a certain class, with gadget restrictions based on class. Finally. But that's the future. They are continuing to re-work maps, but at a slower pace.

The player base on console is nearly non-existent. At least there's bots I guess.

drave 08-26-2022 08:22 AM

Re-installed Destiny 2 also. Thinking of giving it another go thanks to a suggestion from a friend. Need to get the Witch Queen expansion.

The new expansion is looking pretty cool too. I gotta go in remembering that I won't see a lot of the content tho.....

Sepholio 08-26-2022 11:04 AM

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 rn then Torna: The Golden Country and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 next.

Destor 08-26-2022 11:13 AM

Playing 3 now. Outstanding

Sepholio 08-26-2022 01:49 PM

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 fell victim to the same fate as my original Octopath playthrough: My switch died. Feel upset at myself for not getting around to playing it until now. So good. Forgot how much I love Xenoblade in general.

Destor 08-26-2022 01:51 PM

This trilogy is a high point for jrpgs

Sepholio 08-26-2022 01:52 PM

Kinda makes me wish Id have gotten the definitive edition of part 1 and played that again but these games are massive time investments for completionists. Not gonna go through that again before the other 2+Torna, although I do feel kinda bummed about missing what I think is a new DLC for the DE of part 1 that connects the games or something more, I dunno.

Destor 08-26-2022 02:05 PM

DEis very good and you can skip right to The Future Connected if you so chose. Its only 20ish hours.PPlay how ever you want though

Yeah, Drave. I'm about to do the same. Been having the itch for a while and now I'm ready to scratch.

The add-ons are on sale at a good price and I think I'm just going to grab them all. Fire it up, see where my Ghost drops me and take it from there. Kinda hoping my Sparrows and Ships haven't been sent to the antique shop.

Fignuts 08-26-2022 04:32 PM

Witch queen is excellent. Both from a narrative standpoint, and the fact that theres none of the usal filler missions. Legendary difficulty adds more replay value to it as well. Hoping they add legendary versions of Shadowkeep and Beyond light as well. New smg exotic is loads of fun. Crafting is pretty cool. Only select weapons you can craft, but you can make god rolls for them, some are crazy good.

New pirate themed season is fun too. Loads of ads, and its utter chaos at times.

I mean I just started chapter 6 of XB2 and I'm approaching 130. Mind you a lot of that rn is downtime and mindless farming and working on affinities while running out merc mission timers. I am obscenely overpowered for the story at this point because of this. I happened across a godly weapon chip off an enemy earlier and I am now trying to farm enough for everyone because bonuses stack. I can't imagine how ridic I'm gonna be when I get everyone equipped with these lol.

Destor 08-27-2022 01:31 PM

In xbc3 im about 25 levels over the main story. I noticed too lated that they added a mechanism for you to control your over leveling and i didnt see thats what it was until i was high level

Sepholio 08-27-2022 02:42 PM

Yeah I'm about 20-25 over rn in 2. Was wondering why they told me I didnt have to spend the bonus xp at the Inn if I didnt want to in the beginning lol. Ah well, hindsight. Either way now I'll just see how obscenely OP I can get.

Destor 08-27-2022 04:12 PM

With the way scaling works 5 levels over and youre completely busted

ClockShot 08-27-2022 07:27 PM

Yep. Downloaded Destiny 2. Grabbed all the expansions. I'm working backwards. :wtf:

Started it up the first time. Did the intro mission for The Witch Queen on hard difficulty. Bad decision.

Took a break. Had dinner. Fired it up again. Did the intro mission for Beyond Light.

Too much new stuff to learn. But I'll slowly figure it out.

Fignuts 08-28-2022 01:55 AM

Well shit at least you're going to have a lot of content to dig into. I still have to unlock all the fragments for stasis. Seems a bit grondy so Im glad they didnt take a similar route with the 3.0 stuff.

Season of Plunder is even better than I initially thought. Theres several new activities instead of just one, and the weapons are badass. Exotic is kinda boring though.

Fignuts 08-28-2022 05:47 PM

It is. I was running around with no aux cores and turrible accessories and didn't even notice just because of the raw power difference.

I just got done grinding Tiger! Tiger! for what must be the last 10-12 hrs of gameplay. There is only one rare drop out of stage 5 that I am missing (Double Attack 3 I believe, maybe 2, I dunno, the good one) and Poppi is now a monster. Especially Waifu Poppi. Guess I should probably get around to going to the world tree at some point.

drave 09-07-2022 07:52 AM

I've been trying to sort how the EFF I'd ever be able to play Battlefield 2042 again, as lobbies are always empty on console.

Saw a user post somewhere to "download the previous gen" version and I did just that.

Mind blown. Insta-full games and bah gawd, it's not terrible.

Fignuts 09-07-2022 12:08 PM

Use a last gen console?

Like a peasant?

How dare you, sir.

drave 09-07-2022 12:12 PM

No, just last gen software on new gen hardware. The differences are negligible enough that I had a damn good time in 2042 for the first time yesterday, for nearly 3 hours.

Sepholio 09-15-2022 04:54 PM

Man Torna: The Golden Country really refined the XC2 experience. They just about completely addressed every issue from the base game, but most importantly, the pacing. Love the whole game but this DLC is peak. And while I do miss having 3 blades engaged at a time, the way they changed the switching mechanic is so much better.

In terms of base game, I have beaten the story and other than a couple super bosses and completing affinity charts, I am pretty much done. Decided to break up the farming by jumping into Torna...which I am now just short of the final boss and farming super bosses here to try and get to the level 100 one before I finish the campaign and prepare to move on to XC3.

Sepholio 09-15-2022 05:00 PM

In regards to how to good Torna is: Even though I love the XC series as is, if they decided to stop making the huge games every 5 years and instead more frequently release shorter but still complete experiences like Torna I would be all for it. Feel like they could actually use the format to tell a lot of stories within the overall universe to flesh it out. Like do one that leads up to the "final battle" before the world is destroyed and recreated prior to the current games. Show us how the whole situation came to be in the first place (assuming they don't do this in 3 because I dunno yet). You could even do more in the pre-torna time with XC2, like a scenario about Addams dad and uncle and Amalthus when he first awakens Malos and the war with Coeia starts. You never get to see that Titan so theres another new environment there until it gets obliterated in the opening of Torna.

Sepholio 09-15-2022 05:03 PM

One of the creators said they aren't done with the Xeno series and actually have a lot planned. Makes me wonder if they will try to tie it more to the Saga/Blade entries?

Destor 09-15-2022 06:25 PM

U til 3 i thought torna was the series peak.

Destor 09-15-2022 06:26 PM

It was nearly perfect. Just an outstanding expiration

Sepholio 09-16-2022 04:38 PM

Well if you are saying XC3 is better than Torna then color me hyped. Finished that last night btw. Just an awesome experience.

Ripped XC3 from the switch to my PC and have set up a bunch of mods to make it run faster with more graphical flourishes. Can't wait to dig in tonight.

Btw, dunno if you have a beefy PC, but ripping your switch games to PC makes the vast majority of them so much better. I mainly do it so the kids can carry on with the switch and I can play my games without the fear of them wrecking/deleting them or having to fight with them over playtime.

A good example is Metroid: Dread. That game was a vastly superior experience in 4k/60fps with 16x AA filtering.

Thats interesting. I hadnt considered it. I like the ease of the switch but i can appreciate the obvious upsides

Its not entirely without issues on the very high end of titles, XC3 being about the peak of the switch pyramid rn. Makes emulating it more difficult because of random programming tricks the devs use to squeeze out every extra drop of power. I get some rare texture flickering in very small spots, things like that. But when I've changed the depth of field, upgraded the textures in general, have superior lighting enabled and its run smooth at 60fps in a much higher resolution, well...yeah Ill have my occasional graphical bug and be happy about it.

I used to love the switch. That was before my 2 youngest both gold old enough to join the fray over it. I don't want no part of that lol. They can sus it out, I'll just the old busted switch (screen is borked) to run a hacked OS so I can rip my carts to the PC and play in peace lol.

lol getting rid of the item harvesting animations and all the field skill stuff (at least so far) is such a great QoL improvement that it alone makes this better than XC2.

Starting a second playthrough of Octopatch today. Have not touched it since it launched years ago. Pretty sure I forgot half of the storylines.
