I'm surprised ESPN hasn't done a 30 for 30 based on November 26, 1994, the title change followed by the ensuing power outage and city wide party.

CSL 02-12-2014 12:03 PM

the longest ones are only 1h45m roughly, probably just not enough time to fit everything in and do a "proper job"

Volare 02-12-2014 01:51 PM

I never saw this video when Glenn Beck made a comment about WWE. Just saw all the promos.

What if I told you the world could change in nine seconds?

Jericho's podcast is pretty awesome. Check out the two parter with Chavo. Kinda wild to hear his side of Eddie and Benoit.

Over the weekend, it was "reported" that WWE is not taking any cheap shots at CM Punk, but does anyone else think that what Miz has done the last two Raws is exactly that?

Or is Miz just channeling his inner Dennis Stamp?

Bad News Gertner 02-12-2014 11:30 PM

The Miz is undefeated. When Taker retires the chase will be on to end the streak of The Miz.

Timeline WCW 93 Vader came in the mail today. Can't wait to watch it. The Timeline series is the greatest thing ever.

Especially considering that the program leading up to Wrestlemania made it one of the matches I was MOST looking forward to. I'm still pissed about that.

The Miz is not undefeated at Wrestlemania. I don't know why you guys want him to be so badly, but he's not.

lol @ "I don't know why you guys want him to be so badly..."

This isn't just me and others desperately trying to find a way to keep Miz undefeated at WrestleMania. It's just a fact. It was a DARK MATCH. In other words it was not part of the official show. Like Yoshi Tatsu's battle royal win that Gertner mentioned. Or the Sunday Night Heat matches before PPVs that I mentioned earlier. And again, at least those ones were televised. Do you count the dark matches on Raw as the ACTUAL main events of the show?

P.S. STD means business when it comes to this subject. Choose your answer to that question wisely.

I saw most of his career retrospective thing (can't remember what the series is called.) Seems like an awesome guy but I just couldn't get into him talking about shit. I guess I just prefer listening to guys who talk shit and are more "dramatic" in their shoots.

Eh. I'd say it's probably just a coincidence. Miz's comments the past couple weeks aren't THAT Punk-like. They're in line with a typical "I'm being forgotten about" story that's been done countless times.

Shisen Kopf 02-13-2014 12:30 AM

I would give Miz a lounge singer gimmick and team him up with Fandango

Shisen Kopf 02-13-2014 12:31 AM

Kinda like Richard Cheese but he could sing aboot the rasslers.

WWE.com has now changed Big E Langston's name to merely "Big E".

I don't like these name changes.... people that have first and last names just sound better. (Even if their "first name" is "Big E")

It works sometimes. But it usually happens naturally. Like with Batista. Way better than "Dave Batista" but the change happened subtly when people slowly started referring to him by just his last name like a high school gym teacher would do.

Goldberg was another one that ended up being much better. It seems to be fitting for monster characters. I guess it adds to their aura or something. (Heidenreich, Snitsky, Vader...)

#1-norm-fan 02-13-2014 02:04 AM

Meanwhile the less intimidating characters tend to go by just their FIRST name. (All the divas, Santino, Eugene, Jameson, every member of The Spirit Squad...)

Iiiiiinteresting...

That's why I like the Timeline series. Less of a shoot, kinda makes enough the less dramatic guys like Vader more interesting.

Piper is doing WWE 1984 and Bret's doing 1992. Cornette's doing WCW 89. Justin Credible is doing ECW 2001. Can't wait for all of these.

Dark matches on Raw are never mentioned and basically didn't happen. The match I'm talking about was not only mentioned, but a championship changed hands and it was recognized as such.

What about at some other Wrestlemania where Kane won a battle royal in order to face Chavo for the ECW title? That happened too.

As far as Sunday Night Heat, those matches were billed as Sunday Night Heat matches, right down to the apron and everything. Not the same.

Anybody Thrilla 02-13-2014 07:25 AM

Is it important? No. Is it annoying? Absolutely.

Ermaximus 02-13-2014 09:27 AM

I'm curious about this but, would anyone else watch a Diva's Elimination Chamber match between AJ, Tamina, Alicia Fox, Natalya, Brie Bella, and a returning Kharma?

SlickyTrickyDamon 02-13-2014 09:59 AM

Yes but it wouldn't be a focal selling point for me. They would have to cut down the time of entries to like a minute or two.

Is this something that's happening on TV or is it just .com doing a bit of streamlining their presentation?

"Cesaro" just sounds weird, Big E not so much but it just seems a little needless.

Anybody Thrilla 02-13-2014 11:34 AM

Advertised. It was ADVERTISED. On ALL of the TV shows.

XL 02-13-2014 01:28 PM

I was thinking about how they "pipe in" cheers on the pre-recorded shows and came to the conclusion that someone should have piped in cheers in/as their theme music. The perfect guy for this would be Bo Dallas. I'm imagining him coming out on Raw to this monster pop like when Austin cost Rock the title or HHH in MSG whilst the crowd sit on their hands.

Lock Jaw 02-13-2014 01:46 PM

Goldberg used to have piped in chants as part of his theme in WCW, didn't he?

Regarding Sting not signing a deal with WWE yet, it's more because WWE is dragging their feet. We noted before that WWE officials are in no hurry to get Sting signed for a WrestleMania XXX match but word is that Sting himself was hoping for a match against The Undertaker at this year's event.

Since Sting lives in the Dallas area, he is willing to meet up with The Undertaker and work out the match in private at Undertaker's gym, over and over, to get it right, which is what Undertaker's opponents have done for the past several years. That's one of the reasons the matches have gone over so well. There was some concern that Brock Lesnar, who is in it because he makes big money for a limited amount of work and only has a certain number of dates on his contract, may not be willing to spend several extra days working with Taker to get the entire match worked out.

Word in WWE is that Mr. T has agreed to be inducted into the Hall of Fame this year. No word yet if WWE still plans on inducting the participants and the match itself of the WrestleMania I main event. Another source has confirmed to The Wrestling Observer that Cyndi Lauper's name has been discussed as well.

There is a lot of talk within WWE that Christian isn't expected to stick around once his current contract expires. At age 40, there's a feeling that WWE creative isn't going to do anything significant with Christian and he's just "playing out the string."
Quote:

While it’s not a lock, there has been talk seriously of both Kevin Steen and Michael Elgin being invited to a talent evaluation camp. Steen has known about this for some time and the feeling is that if he shows up out of shape, they’ll look down on him a lot. A few years ago, when Takeshi Morishima worked a dark match, and with his flying around at 330 pounds, even though nobody knew him, his match got over pretty big. WWE, however, including Vince McMahon, felt it almost as a sign of disrespect that a guy would come to get a WWE tryout in the shape he was in. Those who have been at camps and noted that they start off testing conditioning making you do stuff designed to blow you up to see who can gut it out the longest, with the idea they can tell from that who wants it the most, feel Steen will need a miracle to get through that aspect of the process. I’ve also had guys question that process, noting that a lot of guys on the main roster, if they were put through that, could never pass it either and some have been solid money drawing stars. WCW did that to Dave Bautista before he ever signed with WWE, and he became one of the biggest stars of the last decade.

*sigh* That match didn't happen on the main card. It was advertised for it, and the match happened before WrestleMania XXV, but it didn't air as part of the PPV. Sure, the WWE could count it as a WrestleMania loss if they wish, but they have more grounds to ignore it than they did the Money in the Bank loss Edge suffered but ignored (which also bothered me a little bit).

The Unified WWE Tag Team Championship match wasn't even part of an official Kickoff themed show. #1-wwf-fan drew a good parallel between it and the Sunday Night Heat that would air from the same location as the PPV.

Mr. Nerfect 02-13-2014 04:34 PM

I'd rather see an Elimination Chamber match between AJ Lee, Paige, Emma, Natalya, Naomi and Kharma. That would be the jizz-tits.
