That's the one. With Gorr the God Butcher. The story goes for 11 issues.

Sixx 05-29-2014 07:37 AM

Hmm, I don't even remember any time travel there. Only flashbacks. Then again, I don't really remember it that well anyway.

Bleedingcool reporting Marvel distancing themselves from Fantastic Four, might cancel the series and artists have been ordered not to sketch FF characters (including Galactus, Doom, Silver Surfer, Skrulls, etc.).

Speculation about Marvel's poor relationship w/FOX (X-Men too popular to cancel and distance from). Marvel apparently has a good relationship with SONY (Spider-Man).

Corporate CockSnogger 05-30-2014 05:38 PM

Josh Brolin will be the voice of Thanos

Sixx 05-30-2014 05:54 PM

Ummm, is any of the upcoming films even supposed to feature Thanos?

The Destroyer 05-30-2014 06:03 PM

He's meant to pop up in Guardians of the Galaxy in some capacity, since Ronan's supposedly working for him.

Fignuts 05-30-2014 06:28 PM

I like Brolin. Good pick.

Well, that's a late casting in that case.

Then again, he'll probably show up for like 10 seconds tops. They got my hopes up with that post-credits scene and followed that up with nothing.

Thanos definetely deserves a bigger part.

Fignuts 05-30-2014 06:39 PM

He will, they're just building to it.

Sixx 05-30-2014 08:19 PM

Seems pretty odd casting Brolin already when the first film he could get a bigger part in is Avengers 3.

But hell, enough with the bitchin'. Brolin is awesome so I wanna see that.

Shadow 05-30-2014 08:35 PM

....bigger part in...Avengers 3. You know what, I guess MAIN FUCKING VILLAIN isn't big enough for you.

What the fuck are you on about?

Is he supposed to be the main villain anywhere prior to Avengers 3? No? Shut the fuck up then.

Sixx 05-30-2014 08:44 PM

Also, he ain't even confirmed to be the main villain in Avengers 3 anyway.

Kalyx triaD 05-31-2014 02:06 AM

Yeah he was pretty much confirmed to be the Avengers 3 antagonist. Not a press release or anything but all signs point to west, ya know?

Shadow 05-31-2014 08:07 PM

Sixx you are literally so stupid I feel my own IQ going down just by being on a message board with you. You honestly don't think they'll throw Thanos as the main bad guy in Avengers 3? Cause that's just dumb.

God, fuck off shadow.

Where did I say I don't think they will? Said it ain't confirmed and your little tantrum here is hilarious.

"OH MY GOD, YOU ARE NOT A 100% SURE THE NEXT HUGE COMIC BOOK MOVIE IS GONNA FEATURE SOME CHARACTER, YOUR IQ MUST BE LIKE 5!"

Sixx 06-01-2014 03:47 AM

Anyway, was never a big fan of standalone titles focused on street level heroes (other than Spiderman, who I don't know if should still be considered one) but I checked out Mark Waid's run on Daredevil and I like it. Any other good Daredevil stories? I mean, I'm sure I read somewhere some other writer's DD run was really praised, just can't remember which, which volume was that and all.

Fignuts 06-01-2014 04:35 AM

Both Frank Miller and Ed Brubaker had phenomenal runs on Daredevil.

Sixx 06-01-2014 05:28 AM

Thanks, gonna check it out.

The Destroyer 06-01-2014 06:09 AM

The Brian Michael Bendis run on Daredevil was great as well. It leads directly into the Brubaker run too, so it's definitely worth checking out.

Kalyx triaD 06-03-2014 07:13 PM

‘Sinister’s Scott Derrickson To Direct Marvel’s ‘Doctor Strange’.

Kalyx triaD 06-04-2014 07:48 PM

You guys like Jared Leto? Because he might be Dr. Strange.

loopydate 06-04-2014 08:06 PM

I do like Jared Leto. That's an interesting choice.

Fignuts 06-08-2014 03:52 AM

I don't get why Jean Grey is the poster child for comic book resurrection. She died twice, came back once.

That's not a lot by comic book standards. It's practically below average.

Kalyx triaD 06-08-2014 05:24 AM

Her return and persona best symbolizes the trope, I think.

Nowhere Man 06-08-2014 08:59 AM

I think it's mostly because the Dark Phoenix Saga was such a huge deal, and death/resurrection wasn't that common when she first did it.

The Destroyer 06-10-2014 03:38 PM

Vincent D'Onofrio is going to be the Kingpin in the Daredevil series.

Shadow 06-10-2014 08:30 PM

........SCORE!

loopydate 06-10-2014 08:38 PM

This is very good news. I like this casting a lot.

Kalyx triaD 06-12-2014 12:46 PM

Deathlok is being rebooted in the 616 to closer resemble the tragic portrayal of the TV version. Although not Mike Peterson (what!), this guy is also being manipulated by his handlers to do dirty deeds... until he starts to fight back.

Sixx 06-12-2014 08:06 PM

Kinda looks like he has halfa Bishop's M over his right eye.

Basically looks a bit too much like this version of Bishop for my taste, don't like it.

Sad attempt to turn that into racism.

Fignuts 06-13-2014 05:42 AM

It was the recent "self titled" Wolverine series, around issue 6 or so.

Sixx 07-12-2014 03:44 AM

Just read some Ultimates for the first time and wow at how fucking awful Thor is there.

A dirty hippie activist. What a shitty reimagining.

And Hawkeye looks like a faggot with those earrings.

Fignuts 07-12-2014 04:35 AM

What?

Ultimate Thor is great, you philistine.

Sixx 07-12-2014 04:41 AM

Are you fucking kidding?

Ultimates vol.1 - he's a fucking hippie activist, always speaking up against governments, saying he will only join the Ultimates if the POTUS doubles huminatarian aid budget, talking about saving the environmnent and whatnot. He is awful there. I can only hope he gets better later on.

Fignuts 07-12-2014 04:48 AM

He's awesome because they keep you guessing as to whether he is the real deal or not.

Also, as much as I love 616 Thor, he's kind of one dimensional. The Ultimates version is at the very least a more interesting take on the character.

Also, Ultimates 3 is garbage by the way. Takes everything cool about Ultimates, throws it out the window, and basically turns it into a generic 90's team superhero book.

Sixx 07-12-2014 04:51 AM

Think I read a few issues of that before I really got into Ultimate Marvel.

Was that the one about:
SPOILER: show
some crazy society led by Reed Richards? Or am I mistakin' that for some other Ultimate Marvel books? Because thaty was pretty bad and made me stay away from UM for quite some time.

Sixx 07-12-2014 04:53 AM

And back to Thor, ok, I gotta agree it's pretty fun with this whole "is he crazy or really a god", but that activist bullshit gets on my nerves. Never met a norse god, but that doesn't seem like shit they'd get into.

The Destroyer 07-12-2014 05:22 AM

Nah Ultimates 3 was the awful one by Jeph Loeb involving terrible stuff that I don't even remember. Think it was the Scarlet Witch getting shot, or something.

Fignuts 07-12-2014 05:34 AM

They get back on track with Ultimate Avengers though.

Sixx 07-12-2014 05:37 AM

Yeah, I found the one I meant.

Only entertaining part of this was the Asgardians breaking into a brewery.

To be fair I only made it to issue 5. Hated it so much I just deleted the rest and didn't bother reading another Ultimate till just now.

Blonde Moment 07-12-2014 06:36 AM

I loved the inital concept of the whole Ultimate line but they shit the bed so badly with it that Spiderman is the only title left i even remotely look at

loopydate 07-12-2014 10:20 AM

Ultimatum is probably the worst thing I've ever read. It's like the comic equivalent of a sociopathic 9-year-old's action figure playtime. "And... and... Then Blob EATS HER! And like 20 people drown over there but we won't show it!"

DaveBrawl 07-15-2014 02:12 PM

So apparently Thor is soon to be replaced by a female Thor.

“It’s a huge day in the Marvel Universe. Thor, the God of Thunder, he messed up, and he’s no longer worthy to hold that damn hammer of his. For the first time in history, that hammer is being held by a woman. That’s right. Thor is a woman!” Goldberg said.

As to who the new female Thor is, it's hard to say. There's little to go on, as she is masked and is also going by the name Thor. The one detail we've been given is that she was once saved by Thor. But given his Superman-level powers in the Marvel Universe, who hasn't?
http://oyster.ignimgs.com/wordpress/...1-720x1023.jpg

The debut of this female Thor will see a brand new Thor series launched, which means the end of the current Thor: God of Thunder series by writer Jason Aaron and artist Esad Ribic. Aaron will stay on as the writer of the new Thor series, but rising star Russell Dauterman will now be on art duties. Aaron is adamant about the new Thor's gender not being a gimmick or anything less than the original.

“This is not She-Thor. This is not Lady Thor. This is not Thorita. This is THOR. This is the THOR of the Marvel Universe. But it’s unlike any Thor we’ve ever seen before," Aaron said in a press release.

This new Thor makes for yet another Marvel comic with a female lead. Others include Black Widow, Ms. Marvel, Captain Marvel, Elektra, She-Hulk, and an upcoming Storm comic. The new Thor series will be launching later this year.

What do you think of the new Thor? Who do you think it could be? Let us know in the comments!

DaveBrawl 07-15-2014 02:15 PM

Seems kind of dumb seeing as how Thor was the character's name not the persona's name like they could do with Spiderman. Whatever though, it's Marvel so I'm sure usual Thor will be back by next summer when Avenger's comes around.

loopydate 07-15-2014 02:23 PM

Well, considering that Thor has been a frog and a lizard-alien thing, I don't think a woman is that big a stretch.

slik 07-15-2014 02:44 PM

Huh.

I don't "hate" the idea I just don't understand it. Was Thor selling bad or something?

Thor was transformed into a frog, so still calling him Thor was fine. As for the lizard-alen thing, no one ever called him Thor. He was always Beta Ray Bill, even when he had Mjolnir.

So yeah. Naming her Thor doesn't make sense to me either.

Also, they've already had a female Thor for years. She's called Valkyrie. Dunno why they didn't just give her a series.

Will wait to read tho, as any concept can be good if written well.

DaveBrawl 07-15-2014 03:21 PM

Yeah the concept of the story I have absolutely no problem with, could be very cool, just calling her Thor seems odd.

DaveBrawl 07-15-2014 03:30 PM

I remember years ago when they had Eric Masterson (sp?) replace Thor for whatever reason, I thought that was pretty cool, but again I don't think he was called Thor they gave him some other name.

Drakul 07-15-2014 05:17 PM

Someone just showed me that. I'm not a comic reader so I didn't know if it was breaking news or something. I came here to tell you about it anyway but it's not as new as I thought. http://marvel.com/news/comics/2014/7..._presents_thor

I do know that comics undo things like crazy, though. A character dies "for realsies" but is ressurected by something or someone a few issues later, for example. Male Thor will do something to make up for whatever he did to mess up and be back eventually,

Why the sigh from Kalyx? New character for MvC4. Just 10 more years to wait.

Kalyx triaD 07-15-2014 11:51 PM

I commented on i09 that her keeping the Thor name was very senseless, in that Thor is 'Thor' because that's the name his parents gave him. The hammer gives you the power of Thor, but it doesn't make you Thor. You're just worthy at the time. Essentially they wanted to keep the title on the book for sales.

Bear in mind it's already been mentioned that Valkyrie is essentially Batwoman to Thor's Batman. She could have the hammer without having the name (it could very well be her, though). And what about Lady Sif? She's had way more exposure after two movies and one of the most fun episodes of Agents. Just comes off strange, abrupt, and desperate - sense this is mostly to score points with the SJW/Feminist crowd. Falcon may well take a turn as the new Captain America for similar reasons (though there's more narrative weight to that at least).

So no this doesn't excite me for a new character in a game. She's not gonna last long enough to be in a game anyway. Alt costume DLC fodder, at best.

Kalyx triaD 07-15-2014 11:51 PM

At the very least that 'Superior Iron Man' is still Stark.

Drakul 07-17-2014 03:08 AM

I wonder if people will be as pissed about Captain America being black as they are about Thor being a woman.

This looks like it's just an alternate series of comics but the "real" Captain America and Thor will continue. Is that it?

Kalyx triaD 07-17-2014 03:16 AM

No, it's the 616 Universe. These are the replacements for now.

And it's Falcon, he more than earned the title long ago. It makes more sense than a possibly random chick being named Thor. A woman wielding the hammer isn't really an issue (at least for people who aren't assholes).

Drakul 07-17-2014 04:07 AM

Is it 616 as in the devil?

It's hard to tell who is mad because it's a woman and who's mad because they hate change of any kind.

Kalyx triaD 07-17-2014 04:30 AM

Nerdrage can be anything.

616 is the designation for the main Marvel comics universe.

Drakul 07-17-2014 06:54 AM

It's also the real number of the beast. Some ancient king read it and said it must be a mistake and it must actually be three 6's. It always was supposed to be 616.

Only if they change his name from Sam Wilson to Steve Rogers.

Nowhere Man 07-17-2014 11:21 AM

I'm cool with Falcon being Cap-- in fact, I kinda wished that he inherited the mantle back when Rogers died after Civil War.

I do think, though, that this isn't being done as any sort of natural progression of characters or story, and more just a way to garner attention and get pats on the back for being 'so progressive.' Otherwise a black Cap and a female Thor wouldn't be rolling out at the exact same time.

So, it's a good move, but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth because I feel like they're doing it for cynical reasons.

Superior Iron Man

http://www.newsarama.com/images/i/00...jpg?1405605708

Stark's required 'dark side' saga sees him changing his armor to something Apple would approve.

Sixx 07-17-2014 03:47 PM

Blah, was hoping it would be Octavius in that suit.

Anyway, any particular reason stated for that many changes to Marvel characters this year?

Sixx 07-17-2014 03:49 PM

Oh and why is Falcon Cap now?

Rogers dies again?

Kalyx triaD 07-17-2014 03:52 PM

Just a shake up for the Avengers line of books (Avengers NOW) similar to what they did a little while ago across the whole slate. Things may return to normal by the time Avengers 2 drops in theaters.

Most of these changes are coming off the AXIS event. Don't know what happened there, don't think anybody died.

DaveBrawl 07-17-2014 04:27 PM

Apparently the Super Solider Serum is no longer working for Cap and he ages 65 years fairly quickly and thus is unable to be Cap. No idea why this happens though.

Yeah, heh, just read that somewhere. Think I'd actually rather him get killed and resurrected again (ok, I know it was suspended animation), cause this stuff just sounds retarded.

DaveBrawl 07-17-2014 04:53 PM

I used to have a run of comics from the 90s with this idea, I think Stark developed a suit or something to keep him going until they found a cure. He didn't really age though.

AXIS is yet another big event, coming later in the year. Avengers and X-Men versus the Onslaught-ed up Red Skull, basically.

I honestly don't like this Marvel trend, of showing a bunch of new teams and status quos before the event that leads to them even finishes.

Sepholio 07-18-2014 05:13 AM

Oh and the new suit looks freaking awesome IMO.

Fignuts 07-18-2014 05:22 AM

Feel like Iron Man has been changing his armor too much the past few years.

He's had quite a few different armors over the years, but he's always kept them long enough that they become memorable and iconic in their own way. Lately it seems they've been changing him up before I even get a chance to really appreciate the armor.

Kalyx triaD 07-19-2014 04:16 PM

Official MCU film dates:

Phase Two

Guardians of the Galaxy: August 1, 2014
Avengers: Age Of Ultron: May 1, 2015

Phase Three

Ant-Man: July 17, 2015
Captain America 3: May 6, 2016
Untitled Film: July 8, 2016 (Probably Doc Strange)
Untitled Film: May 5, 2017 (Avengers 3? Bear in mind this would be Justice League's year)

Likely Phase Four(!)

Guardians of the Galaxy 2: July 28, 2017
Untitled Film: November 3, 2017 (Almost certainly Thor 3)
Untitled Film: July 6, 2018
Untitled Film: November 2, 2018 (Interesting)
Untitled Film: May 3, 2019 (Civil War if there's a god)

Lock Jaw 07-19-2014 10:25 PM

Why is November 2, 2018 interesting?

Shadow 07-19-2014 10:54 PM

Aside from Thor, this is outside their usual dates. And I don't think there will be a Thor 4. November is a very 'safe' bet for movies that may not bank in the summer. I'm thinking we'll an outlier like Black Panther or Captain/Ms Marvel here.
