Thats a damn fine rig, especially landing a 30xx series card in the shortage. I thought about buying a premade rig this time around with the shortages but in the end I just bided my time over the course of like 7 or 8 months until I could land all the parts I wanted at retail value. Finding a brand new 3080 for 700 bucks was like looking for a needle in a haystack the size of Mt. Everest and then finding a golden ticket instead. I was very close to just buying a prebuilt with a 2080 Super or something.
I ended up with over 3 grand in this PC but it should last a looooooong time so I think it was worth it. The only area I really don't throw all the loot at is my monitor. Yeah I could buy a 120hz 24 inch 4k for like 700-1000 or whatever they cost but I'm happy at 60 frames locked on everything so I just got a 50inch 4k60 TV with HDR for like 250 lmao. First test I gave this PC was "can it run unoptimized af Cyberpunk 2077?" Runs it in native 4k, 60 frames steady, everything cranked to ultra and doesn't even break a sweat. Love my consoles but there is nothing like high end PC gaming. I'm also a filthy pirate from time to time and the Great Sea of PC is much easier to navigate than the Console Straights. Don't have to void your warranties and potentially brick your system to run bootlegs, or more importantly as it's what most of my piracy is, emulators. I love emulators and going back and playing all kinds of old niche games I'll never play otherwise. Found some of my favorite games ever by just going through random rankings lists online and giving things I'd never heard of a try. Terranigma comes to mind, that was a damn GEM on super nintendo and nobody played it. Chrono Trigger is my favorite game ever...but I never made it past like half way in Chrono Cross back in the day for some reason. Went back recently and bootlegged it and found an HD texture replacement pack for it, cranked up all the weird emulator settings, and it ended up looking almost like a ps2 game in detail with no high res and no jaggies. Was very nice. WOOOO LATE NIGHT SEPH RAMBLINGS. |
Oh yeah, the reason I came here. So...I know gaming turns into a gambling addiction for people, especially with GACHA games. Well...I have a GACHA game addiction. But not the gambling bit, weirdly. I am addicted to wasting endless amounts of idle time manually grinding GACHA games just to prove I can be a king even if I'm F2P. I'm pretty damn boss in Final Fantasy Brave Exvius and Bleach Brave Souls, never spent a dime. This has led me to my latest curse: Megaman X DiVE. It is by far the most grindiest, tedious, gambling-encouraging GACHA I have every come across. You hit the wall FAST in this game. Maybe an hour and a half in at most. And I mean THE WALL. It is terrible. And I love it and I can't stop playing oh God somebody help me.
|
The only saving grave in this game over FF and Bleach is that it is typical Megaman. It plays just like you think it would other than the different characters having different special moves. Getting a good character is still key because of those moves, but it's still megaman. If you are skilled enough and have enough to patience to deal with bullet sponge bosses, you can progress a ways past where you are currently ranked. You have to be damn near perfect and be ready to spend a long time dodging those same patterns on the bosses though.

Bruhhhhh fuck me!
2 weeks ago I deleted The Witcher 3 off my PS4 to fit a couple other games on it. I was just taking a small break from Witcher 3. I put it back on today to continue some hardcore playing and my save file is gone. I looked everywhere. Looked online for tips. It's just gone. I dont know how I did that. Probably about 45 hours of gameplay and I was not even halfway through the base game part. I was just having a blast. Farming items and armor and doing side quests. This is legit heartbreaking. |
damn.... should have saved it to the cloud bro.
Finally bought Breath of the Wild and starting that journey. Holy schnikes batman, its far and above what I ever expected. They're just like "go figure it out" kinda like the first Zelda. |
Quote:
Ya Well, I'm restarting it. I love the game a lot. At least I know what to do. |
I've tried to replay it a few times, always get a few hours in..... and just can't.
So much to do, played it to death when it first came out and just burned myself out. Blood & Wine DLC is great. |
There's something about Breath of the Wild I can't label.......
The sounds, the environment, just the "overall" everything about the game feels amazing. I want to KEEP exploring, find more, do more. It is incredibly unforgiving, and I forget that often, being a Zelda game. I am going to play the HELL outta this game. I am NOT getting all 900 korok seeds tho :| |
I think it was last year I said Cyberpunk was probably going to be the only game I'd play or was exited about until the next Horizon. Now that we are a week away I am once again excited to play Horizon after indeed not really playing much since Cyberpunk.
Also sad because now I'm not really excited for anything until the next Mass Effect which won't be for like 5 or 6 years at this rate. |
Breath of the Wild is pretty amazing.
Cyberpunk, on the current gen or high-end PC plays phenomenally well. Albeit still lacking a lot of the shit they touted. |

Just finished Mass Effect 2. Great game. 2 people ended up dying i think. There were two caskets at the end. I know Thane died escorting Chokawa and i think Zaed died. Both where the 2 that i failed loyalty quests with.
|
I can't decide what I had more fun playing. ME2 or Witcher 3.
|
i think witcher 3 is the best game of the last console generation. me3 is an easy 10 but i dont think its the best of its gen... probably would give that to TLoU
|
I didnt play the Mass Effect games when they came out.
I might be wrong, but playing these games back to back to back like I am , is amazing. I love the entire story. I know it's not the greatest story ever, but the lore and the continuation into the next games are amazing. After I played ME1 I had so much nostalgia for catching up with my old squad members. When I get to see Garrus in ME2, one of the best bits of game play I can remember. I was bummed about the Ashley stuff in ME2. Cause i banged her in ME 1. |
I just killed my first Diablos in MHW. 31 minute fight. I had to piss like a fucking race horse for 25 of those minutes but there was no pause. I got him though boys!
|
i love ME1 the most of the 3 but ME is an all time great series. i dont throw around 10/10 lightly at all. but imo witcher 3 is a game that transcends rating systems. its on a whole other level. to have that much content thats THAT polished...its unheard of. its a game so good it makes you want to rethink how good other games were.

What system? I can fuck some shit up in MHW |

I play on PS4. I'm only a HR 9 so far. Wish i had a way to get more appreciation tickets so i can get some of this layered gear i missed. |
Tickets come from Arena quests usually - have to go to the Gathering Hub for that. It really is an amazing game that rewards knowing your prey.
I'm MR400-500 last I played |
So I finally popped Fallout 4 GoTY in. And did a bunch of research on mods and downloaded a ton of them I liked. Nothing too cheat. I'm not sure how to use them cause i'm fresh out of the vault and just found Concord ( if that means anything to anyone ). But really love the game so far. Cant wait to start building my settlement.
|
If you like the settlement stuff, then Sim Settlements is a must have mod for you.
|
Quote:
I have that stuff. I just dont understand how to access it atm. I'm in a spot called Concord and its obvious i cant just start building shit i guess. I got a dog though. That's all that matters. |

So i got to this point and it was dark and I couldnt see shit so i quit. lol Maybe try tomorrow. |
turn on a pipboy light or 2x check one of the mods isnt for the environment to make it "true dark".

I've never been obsessed with any game like Elite Dangerous. The game mechanics are so deep you kind of need a manual to play it.
I spent a few days just exploring deep space and mapping undiscovered planets. When I got back I sold it all to the Earth Defense Fleet and made about 50 million dollars, which is a lot for a new player and chump change for the really experienced ones with billions. You can just be a space trucker or you can dive into combat. So many directions to go. There are explorers who spend all their time jumping from star to star out in the unknown galaxy. Feels like 5 or 6 different games in one. It's a really easy way to lose 4 hours. |

In ED a group of players kidnapped people and forced them into slavery. So that was neat. I never was interested in EVE. Seemed like a money sink. |
No Man's Sky is my preferred space exploration game. I don't think the gameplay is as deep as Elite, but the worlds you can explore are more interesting.

Right now I'm taking passengers on sight seeing tours. |
I dont normally buy digital games, but Playstation store had a 75% off weekend deal and I know these games are either not physical release or they are super expensive like Limited Run Games.
I grabbed Salt and Sanctuary for $5.39 and I got The Coma 2 : Vicious Sisters for $4. |
I've been looking for good digital deals on some of these smaller games. Indie titles or games that dont take a fukton of space. Not sure when i'll get to them, but at least i have them to my library.
Hollow Knight : Voidheart Edition The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters Salt and Sanctuary Nex Machina Caladrius Blaze Aragami There are quite a few more I wanting. Looking for really good deals. Waiting for Celeste to come back around at $5. I'm thinking about grabbing Cuphead but i feel like it could or should go lower than $14.99 |
dude you need to take Hollow Knight out of your "Not sure when" pile and put it next in line. That game is a must play. Probably the best metroidvania game ever made. It's near perfection. It can be extremely challenging but it builds you up to those challenges. By the time you get to the crazier stuff you'll have the tools and skills you need. Outside of a few INSANE optional bosses, boss gauntlets and a couple ultra difficult platforming sections that are basically there for bragging rights.
|
Also Horizon Forbidden West is very pretty.
Enemies also seem WAY more observant than before, but maybe I'm just rusty. |
hollow knight = meh. come at me.
|
Blasphemous>>>>>>>>Hollow Knight
|
if any of you are into indy games theres a CV2 inspired game that just dropped called Infernax thats really good
|
Horizon Forbidden Wests enemies are super aggressive compared to the first game. Sometimes they are just downright relentless. Hit and run tactics still can work if thats your thing but be prepared to do a lot more running.
Overwhelming amount of activities in this game to do as well. There is always something nearby. One thing they need to change in the next one I think though is the loot system. I think this game with its size could easily manage a full loot drop system (armor/weapon drops and stuff) instead of set weapon/armor placement and "random" resource drops from enemies. Might need to lean into the crafting a bit more with a new loot system but thats no issue because the crafting/upgrade loop in this game is actually fun. Really enjoyable game though. Loved the first and this is a clear improvement across the board. |
Almost at max level and I don't think I cross the mid-point of the story yet. So much to do.
|
Kirby BOTW demo.
|
I bought Elden Ring last week.
But i've been balls deep in a game called Salt and Sanctuary. It's amazing. |

Also, I bought this. I havent played it yet. Probably wont for months. But i bought it. |

Caved and picked up the Mass Effect Collection for the PS4 yesterday. Started a new game just this morning. It'll be interesting to see how long I go before going full douche Shepard.
|
Hahaha! It was my eleventyth playthrough with the Legendary Edition, so I went total douche. Lost a lot of people on the suicide mission at the end of II because I didn't give a shit about any of my crewmates.
Haven't finished 3 yet. |
haven't gotten to 3 yet either. itll be there once i get through like...4 games that are ahead of my replay of 3. looking forward to it though
|
Finished up the first mission and now I'm in the middle of exploring the Citadel. Controls for combat are giving me a rough time but I chalk that up to being used to other shooter setups. The way the conversations work is great and you can feel the effort they put into this universe.
|
the 2nd game becomes a more standard over the shoulder 3rd person cover shooter in both control and mechanics. if youre liking what theyre offering now youll love the series by end.
|
And amp up the difficulty if you want a better (IMO) experience. Becomes too easy to wipe out mobs in fights when you get the mechanics down.
Adding difficulty will give them barriers, shields, etc. and FORCE you to coordinate skills and combos. |
Had the most epic game of Battlefield V and don't think I will ever replicate it.
We were on Aerodome and it was Strategic Conquest (big vehicles, bigger maps, bigger all the things). I played support and everyone but 1 other squadmate left the squad. We were in proximity to Objective C (dead-center of map, lotsa heated battles) and there was 1 squadmate in a tank, and another random tank. Support in Battlefield traditionally leans towards restocking ammo and repairing vehicles. There are also support stations where vehicles can refill their ammo, and support is the fastest "building" class. I kept both tanks repaired, kept rebuilding the supply station as it would get destroyed. Repelled a few attacks with errant bombs strapped to vehicles and lunged at us. It was ordered chaos and absolutely magnificent. End of the game saw my squadmate with 39 kills - 0 deaths. I was 3rd or 4th (in score) with only 4 kills, but I played the fucking objective and role. No doubt the other team unquestionably thought the dude was hacking, but we just perfectly synergized. Wish I would have been able to record the whole round, but I settled for the scoreboard screenshot at the end of the round. |
looked similar to this, except I was infantry running around on foot

i could absolutely do another run but i think its time to dive into my backlog before it turns into a mountain...but id like to do one more true ending run...

Started Metroid Dread. Had to use a guide after the first boss. Basically locks you into a small section of the first area, forcing you to head to the second and then that area looks as if you are completely stuck as well and you have to realize there is one random hidden destructible wall in the first room that lets you go another way. Guess it was one of the few walls I didnt shoot because it looked the least likely to be a secret path. Ridiculous.
|
thats the epitome of bad game design
|
it honestly stands out as maybe the worst design choice I've ever seen in a mainline metroid entry.
|
Reeks of that Castlevania II nonsense.
|
Picked up Rogue Legacy 2. Never played the first, but Ive gotten really hooked on other roguelites so I figured Id give it a try. Feels really good. Looks like another crackrock to smoke in my collection of addictive roguelites.

its a real shame too. CV2 should be considered an absolute trail blazer of a game. day/night cycle. for an 8 bit game a genuine crack at an open world as could be done with tech. among the best OSTs of all time. there's a lot to be said about it. instead we talk about the cryptic puzzles that werent meant to be half of what they were. |
Started Control. 1 hour in and i can see why it won so many GotY awards. Very David Lynch in the best way. truly unique
|
Oh man. Have fun bro that's an amazing game. Love the whole thing. Theres one sequence in there that is top 5 gaming moments for me for sure, if not number 1.

I got stuck in super metroid... tell me I'm an idiot... |
Gonna have to reload a save. You broke sequence when you jumped across the gap with a running start. You're meant to get the high jump boots in norfair first.
|
Was there no way out through the door on the right that you remember? You definitely sequence broke like Fignuts said but most of the sequence breaks end up with alternative, albeit difficult, alternate routes out. I'd maybe bomb jump back up there (I know, timing is painful, it still is in Dread) and check out the other room again for a destructible block somewhere or another place you can bomb jump too to proceed.
Or hopefully you have a recent save like Fig said. What platform are you playing this on? If you are emulating you can always just edit your current save to refill your super missiles. |
Definitely no way outta that room, save bombing his way back up, and working all the way around to the other side.
But this is fake :D |
Downloaded Metal Gear Solid V. Played like an hour of it before but then my PS4 crashed. Gonna try it again
|
Beat Bravely Default 2. Trying to find some other RPG to play now.
|
loved bravely 2. true ending was a great ride. that "post game" content was way too good.
|
Replayed Undertale.
Going through Deltarune now. |
Which run tho -.-
|
Pacifist.
Soooo good. |
Watched my son do the Sans fight. Holy schnike's Batman.
He did every ending for that game, it was his 1st "rpg". |
i take issue with the quotations
|
you take issue with a lot of things.
I do not care. |
Hmmm, gotta agree with destor on this one.
Despite how unorthodox and unique it is, i'd still say it is definitely an rpg. All the core elements of a turn based jrpg are there. It is so unlike any other rpg though, that I can understand the hestitance to categorize it with everything else. Was explaining the combat to a friend and used Tsundereplane as an example and he lost it. |
100% believe it's an RPG, no doubt.
|
it has a ton of overlap with mother/earthbound...combat being the major departure...course it started as an earthbound rom hack so its to be expected
|
On vacation starting tomorrow.
Think I'm gonna take the plunge and fire up Zelda: Breath of the Wild. See what this OLED Switch I got can do. |
think im gonna start y's IX: Monstrum Nox today. Also been thinking of doing another playthrough of Octopath Traveler or even going kinda old school and playing Rogue Galaxy for PS2 again.
|
One of my kids decided to take a dvd out of the series x when it was trying to load it. bye bye disc drive.
reached out to blizzard to see if they'd let me convert my physical D3 Eternal to digital, no bueno. That shit is still $60 for a digital copy - noooooooooooo. |
Just started with The Outer Worlds. Haven't put much time into it, so maybe this is my relative naïveté talking, but so far at least, I don't get the comparison to FNV.
|
the same dev team making it is 90% of the comparisons
|
playing Crono Cross btw
|
Its not just new vegas in space if thats what you were expecting, but theres definitly some of their signature in the combat and overall engine.
The humor is straight out of classic fallout though. |
Y's IX down. If any of you play it, mainly RP because I know he also enjoys Y's, play it on one of the harder difficulty levels. They have scary names but trust me, normal/hard are wayyyyyy too easy. No one died in my party for the entire game and while I am good at these games, I in no way think I am just magically good enough at this game to explain never even fearing a KO. I only went below half health one time and that was due to not dodging an instant death move in time (tbf I didnt know it was an instant death move) and only survived because I was set up to take one fatal blow and survive per battle.
Otherwise the game as a pretty interesting story. Not cliche like most RPGs at this point. Gameplay is fun and it controls good and the exploration mechanics work nicely. You are gated from going to areas by story progress though so you can't just freely wander wherever you want from the start, though every chapter the area gets bigger and bigger. Soundtrack is standard fare for the jrpg genre. Nothing great but also not bad at all. Just way too easy lol. In the end it's more Y's and I like Y's. The unique story helped this one a lot. Looking forward to the next one. |
