Hang on, how does Network subscribers being down mean that NXT must be doing significantly worse? Like, was the assertion ever that people were buying the WWE Network exclusively for NXT? Isn’t it possible that a number of people watch the show on the Network, some on USA but numbers have still dropped because of PPV and the shift to USA? I don’t think anyone expected subscribers to go up.

I think it's more to do with them not establishing NXT UK enough to be a replacement on the network for NXT. Yeah if you just used the WWE Network for NXT you'd be dumb not to cancel it.

Mostly in regards to the idea that NXT has a very sizable amount of viewers who don't watch live and instead on the Network. Network subs have started to trend downwards meaning that pool of potential viewers has been shrinking.

If NXT starts to increase in live viewers then that could be a sign those who are dropping their subs switched over but if it doesn't, then those are lost viewers for NXT and maybe even WWE in general.

Likely won't really know until the next fiscal quarter report since by then enough weeks would have passed to figure out that viewership situation. The one WWE recently released doesn't cover October.

Not sure if its going to remain the case but until NXT's move to cable tv, PPVs and NXT were the biggest drivers for subs for the Network. NXT was also among the biggest in terms of enticing people to keep their subs after the free month.

I'm just saying that the more the Network subs shrink, the smaller the pool of viewers NXT has available. It doesn't mean all 9% were former NXT Network viewers but its possible a noticeable percentage were and might not be switching over as live viewers since NXT hasn't grown in viewership.

No, WWE doesn't release viewership numbers and instead minutes per sub since that is tied into executive bonuses.

This fiscal quarter will probably show how much of an effect USA has on the Network since WWE expects another sizable drop.

If NXT's tv viewership goes up this quarter while Network subs go down as expected, then you could make a strong case of a switch happening. If NXT tv keeps going down or levels out, then you could make a case NXT might also be losing viewers on the Network since its consistently been one of the main reasons to have a sub.

Except with the NXT vs Raw/Smackdown thing they are most likely trying to boost NXT viewership with a main roster cross over. That might push the numbers up a bit but once it's done they'll more than likely level out again.

Yeah these next 2-3 weeks are going to be the toughest direct competition for AEW since NXT has both the build for War Games and Survivor Series going on at the same time to drive interest.

If AEW still manages to stay on top during those weeks, it should act as a wake up call to WWE that their plans for NXT are not working and should have left the brand alone instead of getting too hands-on with changes and rushing things for tv.

I get what you’re saying, but there are just too many things that could affect the Network to heap it all onto NXT. Or even if viewers have gone down (which makes sense), it’s not necessarily enough to say “Well, they all watch on USA now.” A sizeable amount no doubt do, but it doesn’t mean that there isn’t a large chunk that still do.

I’m not sure they will dial back. I think WWE have been very deliberate in holding off with this push and have been waiting to really hit the NXT button really hard. I guarantee there are Raw viewers who have no clue what NXT actually is. They’re not going to introduce them to that, and I think they will achieve a new level for the show.

The whole mindset behind wrestling is different. He’d be entirely different, doing flips and shit, or he’d never have gotten into it.

Guys like Sid should be who they things with the 24/7 Title with. Let him Powerbomb a jobber and then hold the belt for a few weeks. Wrestling could use some Sid.

Seems there is more heat on the rumor of Orton actually considering leaving WWE for AEW once his contract expires and brings the Revival with him.

Apparently he wasn't happy Vince rejected his idea to work more with the Revival and being split up due to the Draft. Revival also appears to have seen right through WWE's tactic for how their recent pushes were handled.

Orton has been inquiring since the start. Tony Khan has the money to pay him, but he’s probably just going to use it for leverage for a bigger WWE offer.

That explains the rah-rah part of his rant since I haven't read the Observer's daily report yet and just the highlights from SquaredCircle that didn't have that line.

Bixenspan is probably right in a reply he made about Rollins probably was festering about what Meltzer said about him in the video last week and that report likely put him over the edge due to being the only guy mentioned.

When WWE put Cena in a similar role a few years ago to deal with a very upset locker room, he handled it much better in terms of the speech and reports about it. Pretty much just gave the speech and did nothing else afterwards since anything he would have done would have made things worse for him.
