Watching Roma/Madrid on ESPN 2. :D Finally some, UEFA football on ESPN. I haven't been really keeping up with it, how far are they into the season now?

Yeah the final was in May, the new season started in August, and this is the group stages of the competition, after tonight the four teams in each group will have played each other home and away, and the two teams at the top of the mini league go into the draw for the next round, there are eight groups, so thats 16 teams in the draw, hence the 'final 16'. The Matches aren't played till after Christmas, but the draw is this Friday at 12pm English time (I think)

Right. Depending on how good the teams of a country are they get a certain amount of places in the Champions League and UEFA Cup. Which is why English teams should technically cheer each other on, or at least want each other to win, so that we don't have a few seasons where our teams do shit and they take away one of our places in the competition.

The top four teams in the Premier League go into the Champions League. The two teams below them in the league (or maybe one I am not TOO sure), and the F.A Cup and League Cup winners also go into the UEFA Cup.
