This week’s episode of WWE Monday Night Raw for Manchester, England garnered an average viewing audience of 3,173,333 viewers on the USA Network. That’s down an average of (-74,667 viewers) from the week prior. Below is how the show did each hour:

Hour one – 3,480,000 viewers
Hour two – 3,177.000 viewers
Hour three – 2,863,000 viewers
Average – 3,173,333 viewers
New historic low even with the excuse of it being a taped show. For some comparisons, 3rd hour lost around 1 million viewers compared to last year's UK show and around 800,000 for the show average.

There was a lot of crowd sweetening on Raw with the post-production, most notably during the segment with Roman Reigns at the start of the show. At one point you could actually hear people booing Roman Reigns and then the crowd audio changed and the boos turned into cheers.

Reports from the arena are that the crowd was hot throughout the night but it didn’t come across that way on television because of the crowd sweetening.

Big Show may have suffered an injury at tonight's WWE live event in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

During a Street Fight against Demon Kane, Big Show was chokeslammed trough a table and landed "quite bad" according to reader Chris Kinkead. The referee quickly called for medics to come down and check on Big Show. Another referee also came down and ended up counting Kane's three count on Big Show.

As seen this past week, it was ESPN and Jonathan Coachman that broke the news of Seth Rollins being injured and forced to drop the WWE World Heavyweight Title. WWE even credited ESPN with the scoop. On Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez confirmed a report from Court Bauer on MLW Radio that said we can expect to see ESPN breaking more WWE stories in the future with WWE crediting them. Apparently this is part of the new working relationship between the two companies. It's also expected that ESPN will provide in-depth coverage from WrestleMania 32 next year.

Former TNA Knockout Sarah Stock (Dark Angel, Sarita) is also now working with women at the Performance Center. In another backstage note from Breaking Ground, the show has indicated that NXT General Manager William Regal teaches the promo classes but usually the one teaching those classes is Ryan Katz, former indie wrestler GQ Money. Quote:

We noted before via PWInsider that John Cena vs. The Undertaker is one of the planned main events for WWE's WrestleMania 32 next year. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports this week that Cena vs. Roman Reigns for the WWE World Heavyweight Title was planned, at least before Seth Rollins got injured. This goes with the report that Reigns was set to win the title from Rollins at Survivor Series or soon after.

The Observer reports that Rollins was set to face Triple H at WrestleMania 32. The Rock vs. Triple H had been planned but the Rollins match was just recently chosen as WWE creative were told that both Rock and Ronda Rousey wouldn't be available to wrestle next year.

Apparently The Rock has an insurance problem as a movie he will be filming in 2016 had an issue with insurance coverage if he did any pro wrestling before the movie was filmed, due to the obvious risk of injury. Unless something changes, Rock will likely just be making an appearance in Dallas next year, not wrestling..

If the Cena vs. Undertaker reports are true, that could mean Reigns will face Brock Lesnar. We know that Taker vs. Lesnar was planned for WrestleMania 32 at one point but pushed up and the feud was ended at Hell In a Cell.

Whether Reigns would have gone heel, or this would be a face vs. face match with Cena doing the ultimate passing of the torch was not clear. The show’s goal was to establish Reigns as the company’s top star going forward, just as was the original goal for the show last year.

Observer on more details regarding what the plans were for a possible Cena vs Reigns match. Also teased a possible Reigns future heel turn likely getting squashed since he's the #2 merch seller right now for the WWE (also helps that he has the most merch out of everyone else excluding the Bellas I think).

Sami Zayn was seen doing very light workouts in the ring at the WWE Performance Center several weeks ago, but has not been there in some time. Zayn has publicly said he would be out until early 2016, although we had originally heard he might return before then.

Hideo Itami has yet to get in a ring and return to training following his shoulder surgery, so there's no immediate expectation he will be returning to NXT soon. When he was injured in May, the belief was he would be out 6-8 months, the latter of which would be January 2016.
Quote:

Because, RAW right now is three hours long, right? So what happens is, before, when RAW was two hours, you didn't see many long matches, and there were separate brands. There was RAW and Smackdown!, and you didn't see people on both shows very often.

Well now, we have a three hour RAW and two hour Smackdown!, so guys are wrestling long matches on both shows. And who're going to stand out on that kind of platform? Guys who know how to be different in the ring, who can go out there and wrestle a 10, 12, 15 minute match twice a week, and not have the fans get bored by it.

Because realistically, if you take wrestlers from the previous generations, and if they had wrestled as much on television as we have, they would be over exposed. But then, you won't like them as much.

That's one of the biggest battles our generation faces; the previous generations' battle was getting exposure, trying to get exposure. Now our battle is over exposure, and those who can handle over exposure the best are the ones who are popular, and incidentally, people who handle over exposure are the ones who've spent years wrestling in all the different places. So they know how to interact with people in different settings, and that kind of stuff.

So I think it is natural that the independent stars are the people coming up and doing very well.

The new episode of Jim Ross' "Ross Report" podcast features TNA star Abyss.

Ross asked for the scoop on whether or not WWE offered him a contract years ago. Abyss said John Laurinaitis, who was then Head of Talent Relations, offered him a job with an immediate main event push. Tommy Dreamer worked beneath “Big Johnny” in WWE’s head office at the time and orchestrated a conversation between Chris Park and WWE when Abyss' TNA contract was coming up in 2006. Abyss said he decided not to go at the last minute. Tommy Dreamer called it "stage fright" but Abyss said it was just very hard to leave TNA. He said that he helped build TNA from the ground up, adding that 2005-2006 was one of the hottest times for the company. He said, “I would rather have been part of something... versus taking the chance of going somewhere and just being a number" ...

JR asked what the creative plans for Abyss might have been and Abyss said he was supposed to debut at the 2007 Royal Rumble. From there he would have started a rivalry with the The Undertaker, which would have ended at WrestleMania 23 in Detroit. JR said Abyss is an honorable man for choosing to stay with TNA, joking that most wrestlers would give up just about anything for that opportunity.

Vince went bowling with someone, might have been an NBC exec. The guy had done something Vince didn't like. Obviously since they were bowling, they were wearing bowling shoes. Vince sneaked off, got the guy's real shoes from behind the counter, tossed the shoes in the garbage and left. The guy had no idea where his shoes were and had to go home wearing the gross bowling shoes. Vince contacted him later and said "That's what you get, pal!". The guy wrote a book and said that Vince was the biggest jerk he'd ever met in real life. (I can't remember the exact source, Meltzer talked about it on a podcast. The guy in question might have been a friend of Dick Ebersol).

LAYBOY: Still, you beat the court-martial and even graduated. By then you had stolen cars and run moonshine. You'd had a drink. You'd had your first joint. You'd lost your virginity.

MCMAHON: [Pauses] That was at a very young age. I remembered, probably in the first grade, being invited to a matinee film with my stepbrother and his girlfriends, and I remember them playing with me. Playing with my penis, and giggling. I thought that was pretty cool. That was my initiation into sex. At that age you don't necessarily achieve an erection, but it was cool. At around the same time there was a girl my age who was, in essence, my cousin. Later in life she actually wound up marrying that asshole Leo Lupton, my stepfather! Boy, this sounds like Tobacco Road. Anyway, I remember the two of us being so curious about each other's bodies but not knowing what the hell to do. We would go into the woods and get naked together. It felt good. And for some reason I wanted to put crushed leaves into her. Don't know why, but I remember that. I don't remember the first time I had intercourse, believe it or not.

PLAYBOY: Your growing up was pretty accelerated.

MCMAHON: God, yes.

JR once told this on Opie & Anthony:

JR once farted in a car with Gerald Brisco, which made Brisco start gagging and throwing up. Vince heard about that, so backstage at RAW one night, he tried to fart and make Brisco puke. It backfired, and Vince shit in his pants. He then had to go out to the ring and do a promo! JR said that all the production people in his headphones told him about it, and that they were instructed to keep the camera shots ABOVE Vince's waistline for the entire promo!

#1-norm-fan 11-11-2015 11:03 PM

Sad thing is this is probably a far more accurate depiction of a creative meeting than any of us would like to believe.
