I've not kept up... what's up with Ring of Honor? Last I remember really following them was around, maybe 2011 or something. They were still pretty big, third after TNA and WWE, and were unofficially WWE's feeder company or something.
|
They lost all their top talent to New Japan, Evolve and AEW. They've also had lots of bizarre moments lately, such as Bully Ray (their new head of creative, and let's just say that isn't going well) pulling a fan backstage at a show and yelling at him for what Bully deemed as trying to steal the spotlight from wrestlers.

Watching Takeover. Sound is not matching the video. How can I fix this?
|
That happened to me too and it never fixed. I watched late last night and the sound was several seconds behind the action the whole show.
|
Yeah it's two seconds off. Had no issues before they did an update
|
I only had that issue watching on my laptop. Switched to xbox and the sound was fine.
|
Hmm. Only way I can watch rn is my laptop. Planning on getting a Roku this week though so hopefully that will help.
|
I will be watching on my Xbox app tonight. I wasn't at my place last night so I had to try and stream. Failed.

Was a fan of Riddle on the Indies but he's not doing himself any favors in WWE. Calling out Goldberg and Booker T and now wanting a match with Brock at Mania. Just seems like he thinks he's better than what he actually is at this point in his career. Also I think he's supposed to a face but the bro shit is annoying to the point he comes off a heel.
|
His match against Velveteen Dream where he pretty much worked as a heel fit him so much better than being a face. Hoped he would turn after the match, but he didn't....
|
NXT does do a better job with the face/heel dynamic than the main roster. Dream is a guy that kind of floats between the two in matches but is clearly a face character. Riddle needs to be like the NXT Women's champion more in my opinion and play off him thinking he's better than everyone because he used to do MMA. Needs to stay off Twitter also.
|
Update: the sound is fine when streaming live. Neat.
|
Listening to Conrad and Bischoff arguing about Sting/Hogan.
God I love The Bisch. |
Time to pack ROH up.

Official Summerslam Ratings
Natalya vs Becky **
A fine opener, better than expected but not great at all. Goldberg vs Ziggler *** Highly entertaining segment. Bill was like Bruce Willis in Die Hard, amazing character and I hope they push him through Elias at a Saudi show and have him on a winning team at Survivor Series to build him up against Drew Mac at Mania. AJ vs Ricochet **** So good for a 13 minute match with a brilliant finish. Finally the bout between these two that we needed. I'm sure there will be more, probably a ladder match or something cool. Bailey vs Moon ** 1/2 Solid match both are really good workers especially Bailey but Moon has amazing spots. Solid for 10 minutes. Owens vs Shane *** 1/2 Totally entertaining and well done WWE smash match. I enjoyed it a lot, it has moments that will make you laugh and moments that keep you on the edge of your seat. Great storytelling even though the Shane story isn't one that I love, they are telling it well. Charlotte vs Trish **** Probably the best match of Trish's career. Had some slow spots but only for a bit, the rest was so good and Charlotte is a brilliant worker... truly the female equivalent of her dad. Kofi vs Randy ** Very solid Orton match, nothing spectacular except the spectacularly bad finish. I give two because they were able to do a decent 16 minutes but the finish was shit. The Feind vs Finn *** 1/2 Tough to rate. By far one of the best parts of the show. The match was perfect for what it was, Finn was perfect, Feind was AMAZING. So AAA. But then the match came off like a NJPW struggle. Fucking awesome how good Bray can be. This gimmick could be the next big thing in a way we've never seen. He could be the baby face Psycho Clown type for WWE I think. Brock vs Rollins **** Awesome match, brilliantly laid out by the WWE agents or whomever. That is one thing about this show, the producing of the matches seemed top notch even if the build for all of them was pretty bad. Great culmination of this feud that has went on for many years. I don't mind that at all, the long term booking. Great finish here, cathartic moment for The Universe. |
The first SmackDown on FOX already sounds like it'll be another legends show. Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Booker T, Goldberg, Kurt Angle, Trish Stratus, Jerry Lawler, Mick Foley, and Sting announced.
|
So 3 matches for the debut....
|
Quote:
WWE probably regrets not launching the show in the fall since they did the same thing with the 10th anniversary by holding it in October and not in April since that's the real anniversary month. |

So the first show on FOX will be built around people who won't be on episode 2 or thereafter

LuchaBlog still feels both US events are eventually going to be cancelled based on some recent talks with some in AAA's management. |
USA Network better hope that Stone Cold's new reality show is a mega hit for them since there is a real likelihood they could be losing both of their Chrisley shows that usually follow RAW and Smackdown within the near future.
Apparently the family is currently under investigation from the Feds in regards to tax evasion and other possible financial crimes. |
There are too many stars being advertised for them to all do something meaningful. It would have been more effective to space them out and give them proper emphasis and actually try and hook people with them.

I watched Straight Up Steve Austin last night and it was really good. A solid 20 minutes of Austin doing a podcast style interview over shooting big ass machine guns and driving a tank over some trash cars for fun with Rob Rigel. Good interview, Austin is a great interviewer and comes off so personable and fun to be around. I will certainly watch more episodes as they come.

You know... it has taken me several weeks/months of not watching WWE to really appreciate how "nauseating" their camera movements are. Before I guess maybe I was more "used to it" or "desensitized"..... but just watched the clip of Sasha Banks' return and when she was hitting Becky with the chair, and the camera is tilting up and down and zooming in and out, and shaking.... it literally hurt my eyes to look at.

I haven’t been excited about anything in the WWE for years, but The Fiend is amazing. So please forgive me in advance for the fantasy booking post:
Brock Lesnar goes on a complete tear in the fall and winter since losing the Universal Title. Very aggressive, nasty, and more vicious. He enters the Royal Rumble and is the favorite. Meanwhile another entrant in the Rumble is Bray Wyatt (not The Fiend, since Bray has no idea that he is actually The Fiend). Bray enters himself into the Rumble and is motivated to be a winner and repent his sins that he committed as the former Bray Wyatt years ago. He wants to become WWE Champion to erase that memory. During the Rumble, Brock is cleaning house and killing people. Shockingly, Bray eliminates Lesnar. Brock freaks out, a few chair shots and puts Bray through an announce table. Soon after, Bray airs some FireFly Funhouse segments and the theme is how mean Brock is. He ends up challenging Brock to a one on one contest, so that he can prove that bullies and poor sportsmanship never win. At the Elimination Chamber, Brock beats Bray in a few minutes. As Bray is getting to his feet, Brock comes back to the ring and absolutely destroys Bray. Coughing up blood, stretcher job (similar to the Rollins beatdown but worse). A few weeks later, Bray comes back in the FireFly Funhouse, and he begins building The Fiend, and that The Fiend is coming for Brock at WrestleMania. WrestleMania: The Fiend def Brock Lesnar ... Now back to reality. I really hope The Fiend has a good showing in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal this year. |
nah that sucks
|
Seems there might be a real chance for NJPW to ditch ROH in favor of AEW. Would come at the cost of losing CMLL as a partner but then gaining AAA as their new Mexican partner.
Observer reported that WWE had recent talks with CMLL in regards to a potential business relationship. |
Also AAA might be ditching MSG as the location for their event next month in New York City.
|
Im fully expecting the Fiend to be a comedy gimmick eventually with R Truth.
Why? Because A Fiend is just missing an R to be a Friend |

Minimal crossover could be surprisingly good. I mean, Cesaro in the G1? Holy fucking shit. Daniel Bryan vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi? Those sorts of things have more interest to me than simply seeing Omega back.
Even something like Nakamura coming out to a Subconscious to do an IC Champion vs. IC Champion match with Naito would be really cool. Is Naito still doing that thing where he acts too big for the IC Title? |

Guests from partner companies are not generally pushed in New Japan, even long tenured, liked & trusted guys like Dragon Lee aren't booked to run roughshod over the home talent.
Would WWE be fine sending Rollins in on a gruelling schedule where he's going to be exposed as not being on the level of the top New Japan guys just to have him pick up 4 wins and 5 losses? Why send a low card act like Cesaro? He might go over a Makabe, Kojima or a Fale and have some great matches with Ishii / Okada / Tanahashi / take your pick, but does that spot make any sense over the dozen New Japan exclusive guys who can't even get in the G1? What's even the end goal there? Cesaro just goes back to doing nothing matches at 25% of his ability? Keep WWE as far away from New Japan as possible, thanks. |
End goal for New Japan is to increase the number of people who hear about New Japan. Working with a bigger promotion does that. Would Okada look good on WWE television? I can understand the fear there, but that’s a different issue.
WWE’s goal would be to prevent a New Japan/AEW working agreement. It also allows them to get their talent exposed in a context that the AEW audience admires, creating potential fab movements around certain talent. Having WWE talent involved in the best critical matches gives them bragging rights and interrupts AEW momentum. Do I like it? Not from the perspective where I want AEW to succeed, but I don’t think WWE cares about that. |
WWE book everyone 50/50 anyway. I don’t see why they would care if Seth Rollins lost to Tanahashi. It would probably give Seth a stiffy too. Morale boosting is another side effect. New Japan content on the WWE Network is good for both parties too.
|
New Japan having their own subscription service eaten by WWE would not be good for New Japan. WWE's own fuckboy Seth Rollins in the G1 would not be good for New Japan, its pure fan wank and you're not even a fan of either company.
|
Most likely WWE would demand one of their guys to win the G1 since Triple H revealed a while ago these partnership deals are not on equal terms.
Its pretty much you do whatever WWE wants and WWE has the right to make sudden changes whenever they want regardless if it hurts your own plans. EVOLVE's 10th anniversary show had the NXT title as the main event instead of their own belt because WWE likely demanded it for the Network special. |

Don't see anyone from Smackdown's side winning it but what happens to Owens likely determines if its Ricochet, Drew, or Corbin that wins it all.
If Drew beats Ricochet, then its Drew vs Owens in the finals and King Drew as the result due to Shane shenanigans. If Ricochet wins, then Ricochet wins it all if he beats Corbin in the RAW finals. Owens gets elminated in the semis due to Shane shenanigans and Andrade reps the blue brand. If Corbin beats him instead, then Corbin wins the crown via Shane shenanigans in the finals. |
Corbin is the only person in the tournament that I have no interest in, so yeah he’s winning

It would have been better used on an AEW show to promote a bigger event that would draw money, but no, not really. Completely acceptable way to get heat against a luchador.
|
Considering the special status of masks in Mexico, it could have landed Pentagon Jr in some serious hot water in AAA and risk losing out on a mega payday in the future.
Rey Mysterio took a ton of heat in Mexico for getting unmasked in WCW because of how haphazardly it was handled. Del Rio unmasking Sin Cara in WWE was him deliberately doing it out of real life hatred and trying to wreck Sin Cara's earning power in Mexico. Don't remember if Del Rio took serious heat in Mexico for doing it but he didn't care at all. |
