Stocks have been a bit down but I don't think the reasons it's down are reasons that affect WWE.

Mix of both. Wall Street over-valued their stocks to begin with and WWE doing nothing to really fix their woes. Probably going to be like this till the new tv deals kick in and levels off to WWE's real value.

Same happened last time with the debut of the Network. Their stocks shot up in price more than it should have been and then investors started to bail when they realized all those promises were hollow. Several months later, they lost almost all of the bump the Network's launch gave them and leveled off at a value slightly higher than pre-Network.

Fightful current speculating that Tyler Breeze was the mystery person in WWE to get a $500k contract extension in order to entice him to remain in the company.

This was around the same time that WWE was trying to keep The Revival and The Club from leaving when they requested their releases and/or made it known they were not staying.

Damian Rey 2.0 05-29-2019 08:22 PM

Good for Breeze on making that money. Wonder if he's staying in nxt.

ClockShot 05-29-2019 08:29 PM

It would be the best thing for him. Stay away from main roster hell.

Evil Vito 05-29-2019 08:36 PM

I figured it was Breeze.

He actually lives near Full Sail so he might have as close as you can feel like a “normal job” in wrestling.

Emperor Smeat 05-29-2019 08:54 PM

EC3 probably the safest bet to be the next person to ask for their release from WWE.

Posted a tweet earlier today in response to the Ambrose episode of Jericho's podcast show.

Supreme Olajuwon 05-29-2019 09:35 PM

He’s no Fandango that’s for sure. HEY, speaking of folks who would crush it in AEW

Ol Dirty Dastard 05-29-2019 10:07 PM

was thinking the one advantage AEW has over TNA with establishing strong footing as a viable product is that the latter, from the beginning, was run by old guard guys. IIRC even before Hogan and the idiots ran roughshod, the Jarretts were involved.

AEW has young minds with their finger on the pulse. They seem like people whose perspectives are beyond wrestling and don't live in a bubble. You hear Cody and Kenny talk and you go "wow these guys are fucking smart."

It feels 'fresh.' I don't expect it to be perfect but I like a lot of what they've done so far.

Emperor Smeat 05-29-2019 10:26 PM

Plus a bunch of them actually bring something different to the table from a backstage perspective.

Bucks have been the go-to guys for building up the tag division, Omega for women's division, Tony Khan for the sports outlook, Janela/SCU/Best Friends for indies scouting, and Cody for the NWA/old style wrestling outlook. Lets them all focus on the stuff they are good at while leaving the rest for others who have more experience with it.

Ol Dirty Dastard 05-29-2019 10:42 PM

but they don't have Baron Corbin - which will be their ultimate demise.

Damian Rey 2.0 05-29-2019 10:45 PM

Wait...you mean....a wrestling company can be ran by more than just one guy?

I've said in the past that MORE wrestlers need to go to NXT. Not as a "demotion", which is generally what it would be seen as, but as a way to actually showcase themselves and have legit shit to do. You know, be booked like actual wrestlers.

Currently rumor going around the net hints that Impact Wrestling granted releases to both Killer Kross and Scarlett Bordeaux.

In regards to Kross, he teased a big announcement regarding his career is going to be made soon and in regards to Scarlett, she removed all Impact related references from her Twitter account.

I imagine how huge Cesaro would be down in nxt. The matches he'd put on, the reaction he'd get. And it'd allow him to work on things that he's not good at, and do it in an environment that'd give him time and that's he'd be perfect for.

I would be surprised if they let him out of his contract, scarlett was a wasted push, why did they push her so much and not sign her longer, while booting happy allie to aew.

Watching this week's episode of NXT UK and Kassius Ohno managed to win his match via his fatness blocking the ref's view during a pinfall break.

Oh, you mean like that match he had with Sami Zayn during his Real American run? Everyone went apeshit for it. You'd think it would have led somewhere, especially with how much SZ was being showcased as "Best Bout Machine" before Kenny Omega even came up with that moniker. Then, he got called up, and it was nothing but hipster shuffles and annoying promos ever since. And Cesaro didn't get jack shit, either, even when fans were popping for the giant swing and holding up Cesaro Section signs.

And Baron Corbin. Don't forget Corbin and all the <s>X-Pac</s> heat he generates. :|

Tom Guycott 05-30-2019 06:14 AM

... actually, Baron is worse.

At least X-Pac was cool for a hot minute, then just went to the well too many times with the same schtick/exact same match week after week after week. His apathy came from just getting stale. Corbin's act fell through even in developmental, but he got called up and pushed anyway. He's more like old debut fedora and "hoo-rah" Miz if Miz never improved at all and still sucked that badly years later.

XL 05-30-2019 07:01 AM

I’d put Baron with The Ascension and have them be a lower card faction.

Big Vic 05-30-2019 08:38 AM

MJF has already addressed that... https://twitter.com/The_MJF/status/1113158510509002753

Quote:

Rosie O’Donnell is a hack. She is without doubt responsible for the resurfacing of this clip. I think it’s pretty obvious that she’s attempting to attach herself to my constant rising star as her career continues to dwindle into obscurity. Not only was the video leaked without my consent, but my appearance on the show was traumatizing.
Quote:

I moved past the white trash woman, then felt a burning sensation in my eyes when a massive whale of a woman went to hug me. This was Rosie O’Donnell. Trying to be polite in light of not even being offered my standard fee for hugging a fan, I simply said “no thanks” and walked past her towards her not so lovely love seat. The interview started. While I tend not to pay attention to cretin words, and struggling to understand the language she was speaking ( I don’t speak “poor”), she managed to coerce me into singing. After she got what she wanted, I abruptly left the stage.

Looks like Flair and Michaels are having some words with each other.

WWE wants you to forget who the first RAW Tag Team Champions were.

Droford 06-01-2019 03:00 AM

to WWE's credit if you go here he and Angle are listed as the first Raw Tag Team Champions. They wont obviously show him in a video so its kinda hard to acknowledge in the video.

I actually think they should have just started a new Lineage with the New Day as champions going into the split

GD 06-01-2019 03:04 AM

Got "berated" on SquaredCircle for this.

Droford 06-01-2019 03:07 AM

I only do r/wwe since I got banned from SC even though I didnt break a single rule.

also r/wrasslin for memes and r/aewofficial for aew stuff and r/njpw for njpw

screw squaredcircle

GD 06-01-2019 03:10 AM

It doesn't bother me. Why were you banned?

Droford 06-01-2019 03:22 AM

My comment was basically that it was a shame theyhad to resort to roman having "leukemia" to get him over as face (comment was deleted). The fact they were trying to get Ambrose to say shit about it backs up the idea he was never really sick (if he was really sick and they wanted Ambrose to cut promos about it then theyre worse than the worst), plus he went and filmed the movie with the rock and was supposedly "a long way off" from returning to WWE a couple weeks after "entering treatment" and suddenly hes "in remission" just conveniently enough to do the shield match and wrestle at Mania not even 4 months later.

That's a bit ill-timed, Droford. Also, recovery/remission isn't the same in all cases.

Droford 06-01-2019 03:36 AM

granted, I didnt have the stuff about Ambrose back then but..if he really had Leukemia they wouldnt have done that to Ambrose

Droford 06-01-2019 03:38 AM

So if Brock is going to absolutely cash in Monday, and Taker will be at RAW...odds Taker screws him over to set up Taker/Lesnar again at WM

Mr. Nerfect 06-01-2019 08:40 AM

Always baffling to me that they chose to keep the SmackDown WWE Tag Team Championship lineage alive when they unified the belts in 2009.

I'd say no to the Brock/Taker idea, but that really does seem like something they would line up for Blood Money in November or Mania next year.

Think the idea was them wanting to break off from the older eras and establish the newer belts from the brand split era as the de facto titles going forward. That also meant ignoring all the old history attached to the belts with the exception of the IC and WWE belt.

Its also why the current RAW tag belts only trace back to 2002 since that was the original Smackdown tag belts when it became the de facto WWE tag belt prior to the 2nd brand split era.

That's why it is incorrect for them to suggest that The New Day are the first RAW Tag Team Champions.

Also, they even chose the Divas Championship's lineage over the original WWE Women's Championship when the titles were unified.

Mr. Nerfect 06-01-2019 07:21 PM

I'm actually glad that the belts don't mean anything anymore, so you can stop trying to trace lineages and such. Fuck it, Crash Holly is now a former 11-time WWE Champion. Who cares?

I ended-up with a semi-coherent first draft for the thread about re-doing the year 1998-in-WCW.

However, work remains before I'll have a finished draft that I'm satisfied-with.

To fill the gap, here's some "comedy relief!"

If Vince Russo directed a pro-wrestling porno: One of the scenes would be Scarlett Bordeaux pegging Disco Inferno, while Disco makes-love-to Judy Bagwell -- on a (luxuriously padded) forklift, no-less.

According to Jon Moxley, Dusty Rhodes original vision for his Dean Ambrose character is going to be a big influence on the direction of his new character in AEW and the indies.

Quote:

There are no peers to Dusty Rhodes but he treated me like one. He had this vision of me, of how I was going to take over WWE. These vignettes would be in a smokey bar, the camera zooms in on my back, Dean Ambrose leather jacket, in the Viper Club. He called it the Viper Club but he meant the Viper Room. He had this vision of me as a Johnny Depp, River Phoenix, “you’re James Dean baby”. He literally saw me as the coolest person in the world; that’s how he pictured these vignettes and pitched them to me. Dusty saw me as the coolest person in the world and Vince saw me as an idiot. That’s the difference between the two.

Flash forward to my first promo I released after leaving WWE, the prison one and I knew we were filming in LA. I kept thinking about the leather jacket and the Viper Club and I insisted on getting a shot at the Viper Room, just for me. There was deep, deep meaning to that. What I didn’t know is that the dice on the wall were on a two and five, double or nothing but the conspiracy theorists out there noticed it.
He revealed it during a recent interview with website 25YearsLaterSite.com

Watching the ladder match back. You can’t really get the sense of the lighting when you’re there in the arena but they did a great job of masking the fact that it’s really quite a small venue. Small enough that they took it out of their TV taping rotation 6-7 years ago.

Watching an old Raw from 96, Yokozuna just Rock Bottomed Vader.

Cool.

Seanny One Ball 06-02-2019 06:07 PM

Tijari[sic] vs Taka, hits a sweet moonsault off the apron and Lawler says "Brian Christopher does that better" out of nowhere.

I also saw a WWE title match between Taka and Triple H from 1999 or 2000 which had Trips selling like Ric Flair. Crazy what you forget.

Seanny One Ball 06-02-2019 06:23 PM

The Rock and Roll Express just appeared... on Raw in 1997...

Putting them in there with Skull and 8 Ball seems unnecessarily harsh at their age. Old Goldfish eyes Gibson getting beaten up as badly as Wrinkly Morton.

Jim Cornette looks more intimidating than they do. Pretty sure he was still using an old style racket there.

You know those graphics they put up of each fighter before the match? They don't age well.

Seanny One Ball 06-02-2019 06:24 PM

Ahahahahaha Chainsaw Charlie!

I remember that. Terry Funk just wanted to try out a crazy gimmick for once.

Worst thing just happened for WWE based on tonight's NBA Finals Game 2 result. They needed Raptors to win to preserve a potential sweep and instead they lost guaranteeing a Game 5.

Observer thinks next Monday could end up setting a new all-time low for RAW since its going head-to-head with Game 5.

Also seems Impact can't catch any breaks from their Pursuit Channel deal. Going to lose more of their dwindling television exposure due to AT&T no longer carrying the network.
