Has Tony actually said that all the best wrestlers either do or want to work for AEW?
|
"That's just...like...your opinion man"
And then he makes the same comments about his company. |
And get cut like you're garbage (literally). Unless you're Bayley, Charlotte, Sasha, or Becky (is she even back on TV?) I wouldn't want to be there.
|
There will be a couple NXT call ups and Vince won't know what to do with them and probably cut 'em within 6 months.

Not saying you specifically but I have always found it humorous how people will moan about WWE hoarding talent they don't have room for. How they need to let people go work elsewhere if they have nothing for them. Then WWE makes roster cuts and everyone loses their mind about that. It's literally a no-win situation for them with the IWC. |
I'm not talking food catering stand ins and jobbers...active and liked superstars being released. It sends a bad message.
|
Shit...it seemed like half of RAW this week was AJ and his bodyguard.
|
Quote:
And lets be real. It's a rare occasion when they release someone that's active and even remotely popular. That's why Braun getting canned caught so many people off guard because it's not normal for WWE to do that. Everyone else on that list either isn't very active or isn't that over with the fans. You can argue Black, because he definitely is popular and was coming back, but he hasn't really been active in like a year or whatever. Murphy and Riot aren't popping crowds. |
I'm also talking about the 2020 releases.
|
both wwe and aew need to cut a bunch of wrestlers. wwe needs 150 wrestlers max, and about 60 to 70 for aew. no way should wwe have 300 wrestlers
|
300? There's a lot of inactive (Brock, Cena, etc.) and they list the McMahons, interviewers, etc.
|
300 is all i hear before the cuts last week, look at all the people they still have in europe
|
even if there weren't a pandamic, would we even hear shit about WWE Europe or Japan? heh

He is a thin skinned bitch, who has had multiple Twitter meltdowns going back to soccer fans telling him he sucks. And to this specific instance, he isnt even right about what Triple H said. Triple H made the point that why she WWE let their wrestlers go to some NWA show just because NWA/Mickie James said their all women's show is going to be the greatest, and that hasnt WWE already done that (an all women's show). What I took away from that is why would WWE bend over backwards when they have made women's wrestling a priority for over 5 years? If women wrestlers want the best opportunities they woukd be with WWE. SOMEHOW Triple H talking about an N.W.A. show triggered Tony, and he got up on his soap box and made it about AEW, basically implying how dare Triple H say that his company is the best because, noooooooooo not true AEW is the best! Thin Skinned Little Bitch Tony Khan |
Remember when everyone was apparently champing at the bit to leave WWE, but then anyone worth a shit re-signed with WWE because they have dignity?
|
Ah, the dignity required to re-sign with such a righteous company as WWE.

They are incredibly sensitive and insecure. AEW seem to be gathering up talent with a chip on their shoulder.
People complained so much about Triple H and Jeff Jarrett in WWE and TNA respectively, but both those guys are infinitely more talented than Cody Rhodes. But a midcarder focusing on himself is fine in AEW. It’s great Dustin is still going and is healthy and well, but he is 50 years old. He should be able to listen to fans and not be salty when they question him going over younger talent. That’s not even mentioning the requirement that everyone pick Kenny Omega as the best wrestler in the world, even though he has never drawn or performed for a big American company and his character work is non existent. Weird bunch, and that’s coming from someone who wants them to succeed. The cracks are definitely becoming more pronounced though. |
Anyone know why the Cody/Penta feud was dropped? Did I miss some injury news or something?
Just saw a tweet reference it and can't remember if it was addressed on TV after that promo between the two |
Massive insecurity in this promotion. Dustin asking for fan opinions then blasting them; Kenny Omega attacking talent WITHIN HIS OWN PROMOTION for DARING to suggest that someone else is better than him. How about you draw some money and learn how to throw a proper punch, you overrated cunt?
No one worth two shits has signed with them because they know this is a place where if you’re perceived as a threat, they’ll passive aggressively book you into oblivion. Look at FTR. Think they’re happy they got away from “Evil WWE” to be treated...well, exactly the same? Time to admit this experiment has been a failure. |
Let’s not pretend massive insecurity is an AEW-exclusive trait.
However we can agree that Kenny Omega is a special kind of awful. |

AEW fucking up a story isn’t unusual. |

Omega has replaced Triple H as my most overrated wrestler of all-time. He’s not very good and seems like a real-life idiot and scumbag. |

Quote:
Both issues. |
I was going to suggest that, but I guess there have been insecure figures in wrestling forever and a day. How that manifests changes. With Omega it’s passive aggressive, dog-piling social media posturing. If he was 300lbs in 1998, he’d be burying people in production meetings suggesting they can’t draw.

There are opinions and it’s fine to personally enjoy AEW, but it is not objectively good, coherent, well-produced television. It has plot holes you could drive a truck through. Stories are stopped and started for no reason at all. That’s just a fact. I got called a Vince McMahon cocksucker because I dared point out that Triple H was not trying his absolute hardest to run AEW into the ground and pointing out the inconsistencies in Dave Meltzer simultaneously saying that WWE doesn’t promote NXT well to dunk on them while also implying that AEW was beating this giant well-promoted WWE vehicle to bolster AEW’s image. I’ve made it my mission to at least TRY and maintain a logical narrative around this shitshow of a company because that objective coverage just isn’t there. The schadenfreude of everyone who said “Nuh-uh, AEW actually matters” needing to either go into hiding or begrudgingly admit I was right as this shit hits TNA levels of low in record time is delicious, and I’m not ashamed of letting people know I enjoy it. Hey, BigCrippyZ — tell me again how this promotion is important. Fucking clown. The big question is whether or not it even gets a book when it closes down and is bought by AXS or something. |
AEW have apparently put themselves in the red with their video game department. Video games are no doubt expensive, but for these games to put the promotion in the red seems to hinge a lot on their success.
Video games have the potential to get AEW a lot of exposure from potential new fans, but that only seems likely if the game is actually good and sells enough to achieve that exposure. With AEW being the niche of the niche, commercially it may just not be viable. |
Quote:
Really its they are in the red becauee of their video games, and buying rights to a bunch of 80's songs, and paying wrestlers WAY too much, and having WAY too many wrestlers under contract, and spending WAY too much on fireworks except for the ONE time they needed to, and getting booted off their network, and losing half their fans, and on and on and on... |

AEW doing big buisness check your sources brother. They got some of the biggest talent out there locked down for years and I'm talking about Paul Wight who was the largest free agent since 1999. Of course they also got some of the strongest names in the buisness and I'm talking about none other than the 2002 winner of the Arnold Classic Mark Henry. And he's there not to fix AEW cause it's not broken but he's been signed specifically to use his in ring excellence and craftsmanship for working a match brother to help out the younger future superstars of AEW to hone their craft and to have much better matches, more like the ones he's had in the past dude.

I've often thought a tennis stadium would be a perfect set-up for wrestling

That article says they're going to Newark the week before on Sept 15 also, interesting... Feel like a lot of people in NY may just choose to go to the NYC show and skip the annoying trip to Newark
|
Arthur Ashe capacity is 23,700, but will prob close off a big section for the stage etc
|
I’d love if they eschewed a stage/big ramp for this and just had the ring and the entrance at one of the corners. Be kinda like when NJPW runs in Koreauken Hall
|
Yeah they could easily just put a video board along the baseline wall and have the wrestlers enter from the players tunnel.
Less is more when you have unique setups like this. |
AEW struggling to get 18k in the NYC area being an achievement says a lot about the state of pro-wrestling. Lol, don’t people need to notice your existence for you to be the “coolest wrestling company in the world?”

Pockets of fans on the internet are actually celebrating this, like pulling 18k from one of the world’s largest metropolitan areas for one show is some sort of height for wrestling. And in modern times it sadly is. My honest prediction is that the show will probably come off well. They’re in Rochester the next week, so they’ll exploit Brodie Lee’s death for that. They’ll blow all the cache they get from doing a “giant” show by leaving a bad taste in fans’ mouths and doing their silly, self-indulgent stuff. Dave Meltzer will say they are doing amazing as the ratings come in at 750k or whatever and they panic and hot-shot more stuff. The big spanner in the works will be if the bottom falls out before then. They have been getting smashed on Friday nights. They will get smashed on Saturdays. People are out of the habit of watching. That does more damage than a lot of AEWtomatons give credence to. So they will be hot-shotting more stuff for the return to Wednesdays. It will largely have audiences feeling underwhelmed, but it will also be diminishing returns each time they do it. It would not shock me if the big Wednesday return only does 750k-850k people. And the realization from the hyper-aware AEW fans is going to do major damage to the new car smell of AEW, which has already dissipated if you ask me. It’s going to keep going lower and lower, and enthusiasm is going to go with it. By the time we get to September, more and more people might be looking at AEW screaming out for attention, shrug and get back to what they were doing. Long-term, even if this show is a success, it’s going to subconsciously stand as a comparative challenge to where AEW ends up in the future. When they CAN’T fill up that building in New York — if they don’t even try — that does damage to the perception of AEW too. Make no mistake about it, if WrestleMania ever has to go back to the Hartford Civic Center it is going to sting and be noticeable to fans. All these empty promises from AEW, all these publicity stunts and proclamations about how BIG they are — look at how BIG we are! — are going to come back to bite them, as if they haven’t already (half their potential viewership deciding this is bogus, TNT kicking them from their slot, TNT kicking them from their NETWORK). Shift those goalposts, cunts. I am right. I have been from the start — the moment they pulled PAC and Page from Double or Nothing and the apologetics started. And that is this place’s real issue with me. They don’t like that I make them feel so damn wrong. AEW sucks, guys. |

I feel like the clock is ticking on a Cody heel turn. It has to be soon. I'm sure if they find the right heel to juice more squeeze out of his Babyface character we will go longer. Maybe they could end up swapping spots with Cody and Kenny at some point. And the built in story of Cody never challenging for the Belt is the perfect heel juice for a hard squeeze to the nuts of his patriotic Surfer Sting-do good character.
|
Between everyone knowing he’s an EVP, always getting special entrances, usually being accompanied by a massive entourage of hangers-on, the clear makings of a heel are all there so Cody should just run with it.
|
I remember when AEW started and he had that feud/match vs Dustin I assumed he was a heel, but somehow he was a face I guess. Or maybe he only turned face randomly at the end of the match after beating his brother to a bloody pulp, I dunno. Was the damndest face turn I've ever seen if it was a face turn.
|
He went into that match as a heel I believe. I agree that a heel turn is probably needed.
|
Yeah it’s all there. It will def happen at some point.
|
Quote:
Also kind of telling in how Forbes only really talked to one of the EVPs, and didn't mention the other 3 at all. Almost as if, deep down, they know that Omega and the Bucks don't have the mainstream appeal that folks like to sell them as having. If there was anything to the issues between the EVPs, that'd be the one way Cody would beat them out, actually having some media training. Also, outside of Cassidy (who doesn't really stand out as objectively terrible just with an 8x10), most of the more cringe elements of the program were wisely kept out of view and not elaborated on. |
Quote:
I did notice that outside of Orange Cassidy, they used shots of talent that were actually...talented. I’m convinced they know the best foot forward. They know what works and what doesn’t. They’re just as stubborn as that shitty company they keep taking shots at. They want to get their friends into position and they don’t care if people like their content or not. It honestly is like community theatre, in that you know what is good and what isn’t, but if you acknowledge the shit stuff instead of applauding effort and intention, and just accept that the *idea* of pro-wrestling is what should be complimented, then you’re a raging asshole who isn’t with this “artistic movement.” But everyone has to know this isn’t really good, right? |
In more AEW is insecure as fuck news (seems like the 5th story this week): AEW is now targeting AEWBotches on Twitter for using clips. AEW flat-out said they wouldn’t do this. But it turns out they will...if the intent isn’t to frame them as awesome isn’t there.
* Dustin flipping out after asking fan opinion. * TK just needing to bite on Triple H comments. * Omega, Jericho and Hardy getting upset that JR dared insinuate that Randy Orton was, in his opinion, the best wrestler in the world. * AEW Twitter taking shots at WWE. * AEW targeting people who use gifs if they don’t blow the company. Cracking under pressure with the truth being exposed. I cannot wait to see what happens if they don’t get the numbers they were hoping for with their move back to Wednesday, or if Rampage gets dropped or something. Imagine if this company gets out-right canceled? Imagine what happens when the Big Bang Theory marathon proves to be more financially viable than AEW on TBS and they have to explain to the “wrestling media” how they have been kicked out on their asses. How is Dave going to spin that one? Does Brett Weitz become the new Jamie Kellner? The executive that just “hated wrestling” so much and wouldn’t give it a chance? Does the NHL become the enemy, where if they just stayed put and didn’t make it *just impossible* for AEW to keep an audience, they would have been flourishing in business? Is wrestling just too hard/not what audiences want? Oh shit, is it the audience’s fault for rejecting them and being prisoners on Vince McMahon programming and not getting with them? How about it’s a bunch of inexperienced minds with a surface-level understanding that runs incongruously against the reality of larger fan demand and what actually works in professional wrestling. Maybe when people see leg slaps on chops, sloppy stunts that don’t make sense, poorly executed fight scenes, they remember this shit isn’t what they once liked? Maybe when they hear melodramatic promos filled with awful comedy and childish pettiness, they tune the fuck out? Maybe when you act like little bitches, people begin to see you like little bitches? Fuck. This. Company. |

rasslin Twitter is so bad. People want a company to fail just because "it's the other one." Will never understand that. If you don't like it, just don't watch. It's really not that difficult.
|
Lol, they’ve upgraded the pay for talent? Vince is offering talent less money than he was 12 months ago BECAUSE AEW is not a threat. Rey Mysterio was low-balled. Christian, Big Show, Mark Henry and Sting took Trojan horse deals.
Remember how they implied wrestlers would be getting health insurance? Lol! Sorry, guys. Only the executives get that. We don’t want to blow up wrestling too much now. In a non-monetary sense, AEW has a rather terrible track record of how they deal with concussions and other injuries on the fly. You are a mark if you believe this is a humanitarian promotion just because they blow you kisses. Giant guaranteed salaries might be awesome for the talent that receive them, but for wrestling as a whole? They completely remove the incentive to actually produce good content. For fans, it’s pretty detrimental. The criticisms of AEW are not because they’re “other.” It’s because they are another. Another trashy, self-indulgent promotion that thinks its shit doesn’t stink, produces pretty bad content, demands that it be perceived as good, and doesn’t give a fuck if it is only helping to further kill wrestling. As long as they get to have fun, show they are just happy to be there and make a truck-load of money, who cares about the next guy? Holy shit that is such a shit Slik take. |

That’s why no one actually bothers to address them and just dances around it by talking about how long my posts are, asking why I follow wrestling at all, saying I can’t enjoy anything or accusing me of shifting goalposts. Oh, and I swear too much. Great stuff, guys. None of you have any fucking gorm. It’d be nice to actually discuss wrestling on here sometime. |
By the way, SmackDown > AEW. That actually seems to be the critical consensus at this point too, so the whole “at least AEW isn’t as bad as WWE” swipe doesn’t even hold any more. They MIGHT be better than Monday Night Raw and NXT. Who knows? Who cares? And that’s the point. No one fucking cares about any of this shit except for about 10 people here. That’s why wrestling might just need to die. But at the core of it, I’m still an optimist, and I just think BAD wrestling needs to die.

AEW fans are so insecure about this product being liked that they will share false narratives about it being more successful than it is. These include, but are not limited to:
-AEW selling more tickets than WWE. -Conflating international and domestic PPVs buys to contrast it with other promotions’ PPV buys. -“Let us enjoy it!” screams. Did WWE get that luxury? Of course not. -Ignoring dissenting voices and signalling to other users that you also ignore other people. -“Don’t watch if you don’t like it!” Again, this is a very modern and very weird stance for wrestling fans to take and bring to a WRESTLING FORUM. -Attacking and silencing those who don’t like the product. -“AEW is more popular with young people.” It’s not. -“AEW is the cool wrestling.” It’s not. -“At least it’s better than WWE.” It’s not. |
