It would appear that Braylon Edwards is 'for real'

lol Plaxico

Nervous Ferret 09-24-2006 05:29 PM

Also the Min/Chicago game was so hot, and just as Minnesota got the ball with less than 2 minutes they cut out to the stupid Giants pregame. I know I didn't miss anyithng but dkufgds;fg I hate Joe Buck

Mr. Monday Morning 09-24-2006 05:36 PM

Yeah Bears - Vikings was quite nice, in a defensive type way (I can get Game Pass online now and choose whatever I want to watch  )

Switched to Carolina - Tampa late to see Delhomme pull out a clutch scramble. Tampa are terrible. Really, really terrible. I dunno how they came back or were in a position to win but really, how the hell did they win the South last year.

DrA 09-24-2006 05:38 PM

NEW YORK FOOTBALL GIANTS SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONS.

Mr. Monday Morning 09-24-2006 05:38 PM

Why did the Redskins get Duckett again?

Easily the worst Giants game I've ever seen. Not even gonna watch the second half (first time in my life I've done that)

I hope Coughlin works the fuck outta these guys the next two weeks and/or losing big time here can eliminate all the bad karma at once.

What a shit two weeks this is gonna be

If anything, this is karma for the media sucking off the Giants all week for that fluke of a win last week.

OssMan 09-24-2006 06:00 PM

I dunno I really think this is a coaching thing now. Ever since the game against Carolina in the playoffs (lol) our defense can't play the right defense. Like constant third down conversions every game this year and every single team has had their way with the "new and improved" Giants defense.

Also you talk about the Giants getting a ton of media attention, every post on this page is about the Giants pretty much :-\

Not really, no.

I would say that teams like the Seahawks and Bears are as good as the Chargers and Colts. Also, the "mediocre" NFC teams look to be better than the mediocre AFC teams this year.

I know it's only week three, but I still see no indication of the AFC being the dominate conference this year. In fact, they might even be weaker than the NFC at this point.

BCWWF 09-24-2006 06:55 PM

Yeah, what the fuck was that..since when do they switch out of any game with two minutes left? I thought they had to show the whole first game?

I remember in basketball, it was LeBron's pro debut but they couldn't show it from the start because some shitty game before it went into overtime. That is bullshit that the NFL cuts out on a game with two minutes left when the score is within three. What pissed me off even more is that the first five minutes upon cutting to the Rams game was analysis from the commentators.

Nervous Ferret 09-24-2006 07:04 PM

yeah Minnsesota was walking to trh line then scrreen went blank an all of a sudden Joe Bucks droopy face showed up and started riding the Giants dick I was like comeon

UmbrellaCorporation 09-24-2006 07:11 PM

I'm a Seahawks fan, but I've gotta say, the Giants are looking pretty awesome right now. Looks like it just took them a bit to get into the rhythm, but it's getting a lot more competitive. :y:

it's like that everywhere. the Redskins are the team here and if their game is gonna start while another one is playing then they will just switch to it. but if they are the first game and its it 69-0 blowout with 10 minutes left and another game is gonna start, they are still gonna show the home teams game

Giants are suppose to be one of the better teams in the NFC and they shouldn't even be on the field with the Seahawks - I really don't see how the AFC could be considered weaker, NFC has that tough NFC East conference though :-\

Kris P Lettus 09-24-2006 07:37 PM

I hate to say it in week three but tommorow nights game is HUGE for the Saints.. First conference game, fiorst "playoff" team we're facing, first "home" game in over a year..

I can't wait..

Who Dat??

Kris P Lettus 09-24-2006 07:42 PM

Oh and on the whole AFC/NFC shit, as it stands right now, there are 5 undefeated teams in the AFC and four in the NFC..

But after the Broncos beat the Pats tonight, it'll be all tied up..

;)

Why are we arguing about this in week 3??

OssMan 09-24-2006 07:45 PM

Falcons were not a playoff team last year

Johnny Vegas 09-24-2006 08:21 PM

I said it first (probably not), but the fucking Ravens, if they get that killer instinct again, can whip anyone's ass in the AFC and if everyone stays healthy, they can go to the Conference Championship.

The Dolphins were supposed to be one of the best teams in the AFC this year and they almost lost to Tennessee, so that argument can go both ways.

Yeah they kicked the crap out of all three of those winless teams. They sure proved they belong after their 1 point stomping of Cleveland. And after they had to kick 4 red zone field goals last week against Oakland, I'm surprised they didn't just get a free pass into the playoffs.

No but I agree they're terrifying.

The Bears beating up on their own terrible division is no indication that they are anywhere near the Colts' level of talent. The only reason the NFC mediocre teams look better than the AFC mediocre teams is because the mediocre NFC teams are fighting for playoff spots. I'd hardly say that makes the NFC a stronger conference.

IT IS WEEK 3.

By your logic, the only reason why the Bengals are undefeated is because they beat teams with losing records. Does that mean that the Bengals are winning because they are beating teams that are bad? Not necessarily, since you only have three games to go by at this moment.

DrA 09-24-2006 10:36 PM

Let's compromise: as of week three, the NFC and AFC are equal in talent and potential.

Truce?

Jesus Shuttlesworth 09-25-2006 12:23 AM

Yeah Broncos have had the Patriots number for a while now. So annoying since I cannot stand the Broncos.

DJ Williams tried to lay out Ben Watson and had to get taken off the field. Ben Watson destories Denver players for some reason, too bad the Pats don't have 11 Ben Watsons :(

Bears: 3-0

I don't care what anyone says about them or the NFC.

BCWWF 09-25-2006 02:13 AM

Outlaw, it is completely relevant to say that Daunte Culpepper is still a talented quarterback THIS YEAR when he was nearly the MVP two years ago, because he is in his prime age. When I made the post I was still optimistic that he will return to form, but if he is this injured/immobile all season, then he won't be up there. My post was banking on him being healthy.

About the Bears/Vikings game, I really think the Vikings should have won. Grossman's interception was just awful, but it all came down to that final Bears drive and they dominated the Vikings defense when it really mattered. I think they are about equal teams, but the fact that the Bears have some recievers, Mohammad and the tight end guy, will give them the division. Hopefully the Vikes can win 9 or so and get into the playoffs.

No, by my logic the Bengals are undefeated because they went 11-5 last year and are playing this year with 19 returning starters plus 2 new big FA signings. I'm comparing teams from their performance last year mixed with the various roster changes made during the offseason. It's not hard to do. Flawed logic would be assuming that every team starts at the same level of talent at the beginning of the year and only after the season is over can we say who was good and who was bad. Did you honestly think the 49ers and the Texans were Super Bowl contenders at the start of the year? We don't have to wait til Week 15 to claim the Raiders won't make the playoffs.

What about teams like the Rams? The Cardinals? The Jets?

There's no way you can determine how good teams like that are in only three weeks.

DrA 09-25-2006 05:53 PM

Also, in a way, teams ARE equal at the beginning of each season.

Everything prior to the season is just speculation that people contrive from looking at free agent pickups etc etc. Sure, the Raiders are horseshit, but there was no way you could have said that with validity before you even saw them play. Take Minnesota and Chicago last year as examples. Everyone believed that the Vikings were a Super Bowl contender and the Bears were destined to be the worse team in the NFL, based before even seeing them play. The fact of the matter is that some teams overperform and the rest underperform to their hype, and there is no way you can determine which team falls into what category at this period of the season.

Kris P Lettus 09-25-2006 05:56 PM

One team makes it from the NFC just like ONE team makes it from the AFC..

Do you guys want a cookie because it'll be harder for your team to make it to the Super Bowl than a team in the NFC??

DrA 09-25-2006 06:00 PM

You guys are just going off the notion that Indianapolis, New England, Denver, Pittsburgh, etc have been great in the past, therefore will be great in the future as well.

If football was like this then the Super Bowl would have been Green Bay vs. Kansas City forty times in a row.

UmbrellaCorporation 09-25-2006 06:54 PM

FUCKING ASS MADDEN CURSE

http://nfl.com/teams/story/SEA/9684902

KIRKLAND, Wash. (Sept. 25, 2006) -- League MVP Shaun Alexander has a broken left foot and will be lost to the Seattle Seahawks for at least a couple of weeks.

Coach Mike Holmgren said that a bone scan revealed Alexander sustained a "small crack" and "displaced fracture" on a non-weight-bearing bone in his foot sometime during the Seahawks' 42-30 win over the New York Giants. Alexander ran for 47 yards on 20 carries before sitting out the fourth quarter, which began with Seattle leading 42-3.

The coach said last season's NFL rushing leader was on crutches inside team headquarters Sept. 25.

"You lose the MVP for a while, it's a hit," Holmgren said. "Let's face it, he's the MVP. We're not going to sugarcoat it."

Alexander missed practices last Sept. 20-21 because of soreness from a bone bruise he sustained while rushing for 51 yards on 19 carries in the Sept. 10 season opener at Detroit. Holmgren said that bone bruise led to the small crack.

Alexander will miss at least the Oct. 1 showdown at Chicago, which is also 3-0. Seattle has its bye the following week before playing at division rival St. Louis on Oct. 15.

"I don't think it will be lengthy," Holmgren said. "He just has to stay off of it and let it heal."

Holmgren said he could not yet specify how long last season's league rushing champion would be out.

"We're looking at a few weeks, let's put it that way," Holmgren said. "The good thing is, it's just a small, little crack -- if you want to talk about a good thing."

Alexander has started 69 of the last 70 games for the Seahawks. His only absence in that span was a 2002 start that he missed to help with the birth of his first daughter. He entered that game in the second quarter.

Last season, Alexander rushed for 1,880 yards and 27 touchdowns. He has just 187 yards and an average of 2.9 yards per carry through three games. His career average is 4.5 yards per rush. He has gained fewer than 100 yards in each of Seattle's three games this season, his first such streak in two years.

Against New York, the Seahawks welcomed former Super Bowl MVP Deion Branch by featuring four-wide receiver formations, and Matt Hasselbeck threw a franchise record-tying five touchdown passes.

Maurice Morris will make his fourth career start for Alexander against the Bears. Morris rushed 15 times for 18 yards against the Giants.

"You have only one way to go," Holmgren said. "Just plug someone in and go."

Nah i think there was so much emotion running through that building and those players, that all it took was one huge play early in the game to set it off. That punt got blocked and returned. Game Over. Atlanta crawled up into the fetal position.

I still dont think the Saints are going to the playoffs, but mad props for last night. You never know. The way the Giants and Redskins and Tampa , Carolina, Seattle losing Alexander.... It could happen. They could make it, but there schedule is horrible.

So much stuff to talk about this week, I dunno where to even start(!)

Lions looked way better than last week, but their D is still ridiculous. Shaun Rogers was a non-factor all game. Jennings' TD should not have been a TD. Bly totally should've had that tackle. Next time go for the man instead of crying for a flag. Ugh I hate that sooooo much. I nearly pissed myself when Ahman fumbled though. Too bad the Lions couldn't close.

On that note, I'm really liking Kitna. Yeah he's not a great QB or anything but he plays really solid for the Lions. He is by far one of the better parts of the Lions this season so far. He's making good reads, not throwing stupid passes, and generally moving the ball pretty well. I hope he keeps it up.

Atlanta looked awful last night. Like wow. I dunno if it was 'cause the Saints were super pumped up about their home game or w/e, but man. Looked bad. Vick, other than that 4th quarter run, did basically nothing all game. Bush had a couple nice runs.

Seattle, whenever Alexander gets back, is probably going to be the team to beat in the NFC again. They put up 42 points while Alexander had a VERY mediocore game. Hasselback is the man there, and once Alexander gets back and into his groove their team will have a crazy offense.

I think the Bengals have like the best group of WR this side of Arizona right now. Henry and Housh looked ridiculous, and even though CJ has gotten off to a terrible start, it's Chad Johnson. Like Henry isn't crazy good or anything but they have 2 solid WRs and a third with him. Kinda hot.

lolGiants come freaking on. I'm just glad they can't play D, all those garbage-time stats are doing wonders for my fantasy team with Eli. TY.

Will Houston ever have any D? At all?

NFC vs AFC, I dunno too early to tell I guess, but each conf has strong and weak teams. I mean yeah the NFC looks weak overall but... Oakland Raiders, Houston Texans, and Tennessee Titans. Could go either way tbh.

Matt Leinhart might be starting this week

Yeah Green said he was going to start him, but then "changed his mind" and said Warner will start week 4. Leinhart will def be starting by midseason though

You know I'm surprised how good the Saints have been playing. I can't believe they killed Atlanta like that.

DALLAS (AP) - Terrell Owens was taken to the emergency room for an undisclosed reason Tuesday night, and doctors treating the Dallas Cowboys receiver were trying to induce vomiting, according to a television report.

Owens was brought by a fire rescue crew to Baylor Medical Center, Dallas-Fort Worth television station KTVT reported, citing sources the television station did not identify. A reporter for the station later said she saw Owens being wheeled down the hall.
Broadcast reports indicated that Owens had a bad reaction to pain medication that he was taking as a result of his broken right ring finger.

Calls from The Associated Press to Owens' agent, his publicist and the Cowboys were not immediately returned Tuesday night. The hospital told the AP that they do not have a patient registered by Owens' name.

KTVT said a Dallas police spokesperson was en route to the hospital to talk about a "high profile case."

Owens broke the bone leading to his right ring finger a week ago Sunday night. The next day, a plate was screwed in, protecting the bone so it can heal without further damage.

Earlier Tuesday, Cowboys coach Bill Parcells said he expects Owens to rejoin his teammates at practice Wednesday and would start Sunday in Tennessee if he proves he can play.

"It's just, can he withstand the pain of catching the ball?" Parcells said. "When he can stand it, he can play."

With the Cowboys having had a bye last weekend, Owens could return without having missed a game. He's already said he'll play Oct. 8, when he gets to face his former team, the Eagles, in Philadelphia.
