Woooo, Liverpool are signing ANOTHER Right Back :|

Never heard of Josemi, but he might be good....right? On the plus side, it would free-up Carragher's move to centre back

Wengerland 07-27-2004 09:43 AM

At least you beat Celtic 5-1

Fulham have signed Pape Bouba Diop, good move again for them.

Can't say I am too sad about Butt leaving

LK 07-27-2004 12:55 PM

Fulham have signed some good players. I think they are going to have another good season, as will Middlesborough. Just watched Sky Sports News and the players they have signed are quality and they have gotten rid of Ricketts.

 it took some doing but we finally rolled ricketts down the A1 and left him in leeds!

think fulham will be a surprise package again this year! hopefully we will have a good season, dont know how we are going to play tho. i think mclaren will go 4-4-2 with Schwartzer, Reizeger, Southgate, Ugo, Quadroe' at the back. Then will have Parlour, Mendieta, Boatang, Zenden (if signs) in midfield with Viduka & Hassilbaink up front.

I wouldnt play this as with 2 forwards capeable of scoring goals, i would play Juninho just behind them, a) this is his best position, b) he will score more goals from here & c) he will make more goals from here. I would drop parlour to the bench to play the little fella or if zenden doesnt sign play him.

Juninho is the man and needs to be in the team if we want to succeed!

According to reports in Spain, Vieira has agreed terms with Real Madrid

I'm not gutted, but it really is coming to the end of an era for Utd.

That and I'll always remember the reserve match, way back when he was like 18 and i was about 8, when he belted the ball over the fence at gigg lane and smacked the middle aged woman just across from me in the face with it. She was talking to her friend about the inane pointless shit women seem to talk about, and it was awesome. The best thing was you could see he was trying to hold back his laughter as he asked for the ball back.

Nicky Butt, I salute you :'(

Vieira didn't even play for large stretches of last season. He has been struggling with injuries for the past two years.

Thierry Henry is more important to them. Robert Pires too, when he shows the form he did last season.

If Freddy Ljungberg finds his form again, they'll be pretty much unstoppable again.

I'd take £30 million for Vieira at his age, and considering his recent injury proneness. Edu and Lauren could easily step into central midfield.

Wengerland 07-30-2004 07:21 AM

Vieira's the best at what he does but i agree with ECG about taking £30 million, with that Wenger can buy a good replacement and he rarely gets it wrong in the transfer market.

I saw the main linked replacement was Maniche, which could work as, even though he's more attack minded, they'd still be Gilberto there (most likely) to help balance it out.

Anyway champions league third qualifying round draw today (the one with Man Utd and Liverpool in).

Also, we've signed Joey Gudjonsson and Chris Makin.

Ferocious 07-30-2004 07:25 AM

Not a lot of Boro News Lately aside from we beat Notts Forest 4 - 1 in a friendly the other day. Hasseilbaink got two

El Capitano Gatisto 07-30-2004 08:40 AM

Vieira is already heading down the Roy Keane road of spending more and more time injured. He has a very troublesome knee injury that doesn't look as if it will ever clear up. He'll be struggling within a couple of years to keep the pace.

I don't think he has the big match mentality, either. If Vieira was half the captain people say he is, he would have had Arsenal winning important Champions League ties by now. Talented player, but I'd always pick Roy Keane ahead of him.

Mr. Monday Morning 07-30-2004 10:09 AM

The big match thing is a fair point...I don't think Vieira would have been able to drag Man U through against Juventus like Keane back in '99.

Moonax 07-30-2004 10:17 AM

I think we should run a book on which club is going to be the next Leeds.

Frank Grimes Jnr 07-30-2004 10:58 AM

Greening signed with West Brom for 1.25 million pounds.
I'd have to say that that is one of the best transfers yet. I believe Greening is underated and I still can't believe he didn't get a chance at Middlesborough even after he won their best and fairest.

Or drag the Republic of Ireland through a WC qualifying group that included Holland and Portugal, with some distinctly average players playing alongside him.

he did get a chance, first season he was average, second got player of the year and was apparently on fringes of england squad ( he did get called up for a training session) third season he didnt get a chance, when he did, he didnt do anything.

he is best in central midfield yet mclaren kept playing him on the wing.

greening will annoy you tho, if played on left wing,he will always cut back on his right before crossing and vis versa on the other side.

he has good energy and wont let you down, shame he's gone as was a good squad player to call on for us. o well we cam always call on 'the next roy keane' in mark wilson! :$

Great point. I'm not Keane's biggest fan (mainly attitude) but there aren't many captains who control a locker room like he does.

Jesus, whats going on, Gudjohnsen scored for Chelsea, and then Cafu scored one hell of a goal, hit it first time from the corner of the box, great goal.

yianni 08-03-2004 12:34 AM

Dunno if any of you lads have mentioned this already, but Australian defender Craig Moore looks set to become the millionth ( ) Australian to play in the Premier League, with Blackburn about to sign him. He'll join Australians Lucas Neil and Brett Emerton at the club. The fucking twats at Rangers stripped Moore of the captaincy then gave him the arse, all because he wanted to play for Australia at the Olympics. :nono:

Speaking of the Olympics, a friend of mine asked me if there will be an English, Scottish, etc side in the Olympics football or whether it will be a Great Britain side with a combination of all you British guys. I have no idea, anyone know?

El Capitano Gatisto 08-03-2004 07:32 AM

There is no British representatives in the Olympic football tournament, because of the structure of the FAs.

Plus, Craig Moore wanting to play in the Olympics is a joke. The tournament should be kept to youth players only. Professional, full international footballers should not be allowed to take part.

Ogen 08-03-2004 12:27 PM

Paul Scholes has retired from international football at just 29. Must be some injury we don't know about or something cause I can't see why he'd do this otherwise. Thats England's best midfielder gone anyway ( and before anyone starts he is their best midfielder, Gerrard will be better but isn't yet. )

Dazz 08-03-2004 07:26 PM

Soccer means hitting a ball with your foot and it fits more appropriately .

Football means carrying, tossing, throwing. Also, what do you think they use to make a field goal? Their feet, which is very vital for the New England Patriots. But i'll take option b, thanks.

Football should be at the Olympics, but not in the current form. Football has its own competitions which matter more to the people involved, and that should be respected.

You can judge how good he is by this. We gave hima free transfer when we got relegated, he's still here. I think you are the first team to show a slight interest. His best days are behind him, a first division player at best.

Dazz 08-05-2004 02:08 PM

So Just when I thought that Chelsea couldn't piss me off anymore

We let Mutu go on loan to Juve. :|

three of our most expensive four signings from last season are now loaned out after a season, and the other signing (Duff) has someone else just brought in to replace him. What the fuck is up with that.

Gudjohnsen was my least favourite Chelsea striker, and he's the one we kept, he is pure shit and he has an aweful workrate, won't even challenge for headers. :wtf:.

Rob 08-05-2004 02:41 PM

Did Juventus pick up his make up bills?

Dazz 08-05-2004 02:42 PM

I doubt it, Chelsea will be funding 100% of his wages (Porbably) so I guess we pay for all his other expenses.

Wengerland 08-05-2004 02:45 PM

I'm thinking Robben will play on the right if they're both fit, but it's a good move anyway, considering Duff's injury problems last year.

Bit surprised Mutu has been let out on loan, considering Mourinho was talking about 2 players for each position. Heard they had a bit of a bust up on that American tour though, so i can't blame Mourinho for kinda making an example of him.

Dazz 08-05-2004 02:57 PM

You'll hear alot of things, Mutu, Duff and Cole have all been rumoured to have said pretty much the same thing in the last month, but Cole and Duff are still there, it's bollocks.

Duff's injury problems are indeed a bitch, but I think we should have just kept Zenden, and played him when Duff was injured, and play Joe Cole out on the right wing.

:'(

Having said that, I don't think he'll be a regular (I damn well hope not anyway)...I'm thinking it's more a case of Jo Lescott hasn't played for a year, so we absolutely have to have cover for him, cause he's probably not going to make it through the whole season without at least one rest period.

From what I've read Joe Cole is going to partner Gudjohnsen :| If it works fine but I dunno if Cole is suited to playing off the front man.
